Good location but be aware the pool is not heated (20 degrees - water at the beach 24!) We were so excited to leave the Melbourne's cold and dive into the warm pool water from our poolside room. In my opinion it was not worth the money - particularly for the poolside apartments in Winter - as the water is too cold to swim.||I did end up having a long talk with Tamas (Front Office Manager) who was lovely.||I believe they are in the process of upgrading but although the hotel is managed by Mantra it is run through a body corporate and private owners so this comes with some complexity.

Fantastic location. Park your car undercover and walk to the beach, lookout, shops, restaurants, Coles and the main street. The corridor to the rooms feels a little like a cruise ship 😂. The balcony spa bath was fantastic and private because we were on the top floor. The swim up rooms looked like they would be great for families with your own ladder access to one of the 4 pools. The bathroom and shower were a great size and very nice. The bed was comfortable with a lot of different pillow options. Unfortunately, we felt like the maintenance was lacking. One of our AC units leaked water all over the TV, cabinet, power points and floor. We had to turn it off until the maintenance worker was able to come and look at it. He drained the overflow tray, but it happened again the next day. It was winter and we are from Cairns, so it didn't matter that we couldn't use it, but it would definitely matter to others, especially in the summer. There was also water on the kitchen floor twice during our stay and we never got the the bottom of that problem. The staff were very nice and tried to help, it was just unfortunate that the rooms were fully booked and we were unable to change rooms.

Fantastic apartment, we only had one night but felt immediately comfortable along, and the rooms were clean with great showers and complimentary teas. We didn't use the pool but used our spa pool, which made it a stay relaxing. Beds were comfy too. Front desk were friendly and welcoming throughout.

I’d rate Mantra Aqueous Port Douglas "#good-enough-for-the-price" but, sadly, not "#I’d-book-again". The good: rates are fair by Port Douglas standards, the proximity to the Macrossan Street location makes wandering to shops, cafes, restaurants and Four Mile Beach a breeze, and the apartments are spacious and come well-equipped with spa on the balcony, full kitchens, dishwashers, washer-dryer combos and free underground parking. The trade-off is noise - lots of it. If you’re a city dweller who sleeps through traffic and usual city noise, you’ll cope, but light sleepers should steer clear, especially of the northern side rooms that backs onto the rear of Zinc restaurant. Its kitchen fan hums relentlessly until about 10 p.m., garbage trucks rattle the large commercial bins at 6 a.m. or so few times a week (yes!), and even pool cleaning started around 7 a.m. a couple of times. Also, the delivery trucks idle with engines running for ages everywhere at Port Douglas! I'm not sure what is wrong with environmental policy at Port Douglas! None of this is strictly the hotel’s fault, but it chips away at any chance of a relaxing, week-plus stay. And we stayed for two weeks :( . Rooms starting to show minor maintenance issues (our bathroom carried a faint damp smell). Finally, one small but telling extra: decent Wi-Fi hides behind the Accor membership. You can, technically, hop on a slower network without that, but if you want the "fast" tier you have to hand over your personal details and sign up. In our age of data-breach headlines, that’s hardly appealing - especially when you’re already paying for the room. The overall verdict is "reasonable value, but too noisy to return."

We stayed at Mantra Aqueous for 12 nights and cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience was. The swim out pool room was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable, even though the pool was a little chilly on impact you just had to count to 5 and it is winter after all. The staff couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much. They were all super friendly. Nice and close to Macrossan St and all it offers and the beautiful 4-mile beach which we walked often. Absolutely fabulous holiday. Cheers Mark & Di

Friendly reception desk. Easy to gain replacement towels etc. The 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments were really well set up for easy living. Loved the spa baths and the roomy bathrooms. Great little competitions and activities for young grand kids. Pools were well looked after and serviced. Easy access to beach and walking trails. Easy walk to town centre and supermarket. Lots of restaurants to suit all tastes. Great coffee places.

I came for a 4 day getaway by myself and loved everything about Mantra Aqueous! The location was perfect and the front desk staff was great. It was a little chilly so I never used the pools, but I was really happy to discover the washing machine and dryer! The room was so comfortable and the town so charming that I extended my stay for extra night.

So disappointed in our stay at the Aqueous. We stayed in a swim out hotel room that must have been the worst room of the hotel. Nothing like the photos you see. You certainly don’t get what you see online. The room was so small and in need of a deep clean. The curtains (not shutters as other rooms seemed to have) were covered in mould on the back, as was the pool lounger and the ceiling. The ugly pool gate was covered in rust and the sliding door track was filthy. We also killed about 20-25 cockroaches during our 4 day stay in both the bathroom and bedroom. We were told that pest control had taken place the week before??? How they can class this as luxury accommodation and 4 star is beyond me and a rip off at $320 a night. The pool doesn’t look appealing either with yellow staining on the bottom. Compared to our 5 star stay in Cairns at only $10 a night more, this was disgraceful.
