Positives: It is a great location, accessible to many places in the CBD by foot. The receptionist was well mannered and helpful, they provide fresh towels as needed. Lift was quick to arrive. Everything in the room was functioning. Space was large. Negatives: Lobby had a weird oily smell like that of a kitchen. Walk way to my room also had a bad smell, thankfully there was no smell in my room. Everything in the room was old and dated. Carpets were stained, things generally felt old and looked overused. The shower area was the bathtub which was very high, it was difficult for even a young person like me to get in and out of. Will I stay here again? Only if I get a very good price and if I am staying alone.

It is incredibly misleading to call this place a four star hotel. The photos make the hotel appear better than it is. I felt like I was staying in a low quality air BnB. There was no restaurant down stairs, no room service, no room maintenance for a three night stay, the milk in the fridge was from the previous guest. The positives is an excellent location. Felt safe despite feeling like a residential accommodation. Friendly staff. The accommodation was dated but tidy. Overall, it wasn’t the nicest vibe and I was left disappointed. Like others have mentioned, there is construction near by which was disruptive overnight. The curtains were thin and allowed light to pass through. A friend paid fractionally more for a similar size apartment across the street— I should have booked there as she actually stayed in a four star hotel with the expected inclusions.

Writing this review to flag the smell of hallway. It smelt like a combination of smoke and body odour. Luckily, our room didn’t have the smell, the aircon seemed to help keep the room fresh. The room furniture is not the most pleasant, it felt like it had been decorated with pieces from Facebook marketplace. The construction next door was not as bad as we thought it would be. The work seemed to pause over the weekend. Great central location though. Close to the garden and great shopping and restaurants. My biggest issue was definitely the smell. Not pleasant at all.

Room was a little dated but very comfortable. The bed and pillows were fantastic. Short stroll to the casino and inner city sights. Staff were extremely lovely upon check in/out. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed at Mantra on Mary recently and unfortunately my experience wasn’t the best. I arrived feeling completely well, but after a night in the room I woke up with a stuffy nose, sore throat, and had a very broken sleep. I’m unsure if it was the air-conditioning or the room’s air circulation, but it was noticeably uncomfortable. There were also several maintenance and cleanliness issues. The bathroom floor was wet, as if water was leaking from behind the toilet. The shower is inside a high bathtub, which felt unsafe and difficult to climb into. The showerhead and bath drain had a greenish buildup that looked like copper oxide. On top of that, the bathroom rubbish bin hadn’t been emptied, which was disappointing. Additionally, I didn’t like the weird smell in the hallway! Overall, the stay wasn’t as comfortable or clean as expected, and I hope management can address these issues for future guests!

I've stayed in Mantra on Mary a few times now, as a guest in my friends rented apartment. The place is riddled with cockroaches, seemingly coming from the systems shared central air system. The infestation has been terrible for at least a year. The fire alarm is regularly triggered, most likely caused by attempts from tenants to fumigate their apartments. It needs proper treatment and disappointing behaviour from a 4 star hotel.

The rooms are spacious, clean, floor to ceiling windows and a little balcony. I really did enjoy my stay here with my husband 🩷

Wonderful staff and comfortable room. Centrally located to most city attractions. Checking in was easy and stress free. I would definately stay there again.

Yelp
This is probably my favourite Motel in the City. Great customer service, super friendly and helpful staff. Our room was clean and tidy and the beds were really comfy, not the mention the view from the main bedroom was amazing. They even gave us later checkout which was awesome, there's nothing better than a sleep in!! Overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the city, whether it's for business or leisure.
