Mantra One Sandy Bay Road Hobart

Had a wonderful 6 night stay here in January, 2026. Huge room with very large living areas. Well equipped laundry ( combo washing machine/dryer ). Kitchen with Convection Microwave and cooktop available if required. Very clean. Location was excellent- very quick walk through park to Salamanca, Constitution Dock and piers. Walking distance to Battery Point. Great base for day trips to many tourist attractions and areas. Walk to many restaurants and CBD. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

We have recently stayed at this hotel and was very pleased. We advised that we would be late arriving and staff stayed to greet us. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into the room. We had a separate lounge and dining area. The kitchenette was compact, but had everything we needed, plus a washer dryer which we didn’t expect. The wet room was lovely along with toiletries and clean, soft white towels. |Very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was that it is a little walk to the shops, but close to the park, harbour and Salamanca market on a Saturday.

Rooms were tidy although old and some of the light switches seemed like they were on the way out. The rooms were ok. No resteraunt on site so either you go out or order uber eats. I got uber the first night and it says on the mantra material given to you at the beginning of your stay that uber delivers to your room…. Well they don’t it was dropped of at reception which is fine but then I was rung by reception that they are closing in 8 min and I won’t get my food unless I come down and get it…. That’s poor.

We enjoyed a great stay at Mantra One Sandy Bay Road. The hotel is so well located and proximate to central Hobart, Salamanca Place, Battery Point and the waterfront. We stayed in a bedroom apartment which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The high ceilings of the old converted building added an airy feel. Our check in and check out experience was warm, friendly and helpful. I can only say good things to my family and friends about our stay. It would be great if in any future renovations that some data/use points are installed.

The room we stayed in had a staircase which made the bedroom quite a way from the living area where our child was to sleep. It was a little too far so one of us slept on the sofa with her. The ceilings were low so it could get quite stuffy even though there is a vent in the stairwell. Overall, it was a nice place, well suited to family with older kids or three adults.

This hotel is central to the tourist area of Hobart with large liveable rooms. However sadly I must write a negative review. The sheets had blood on them. My husband went to hop into bed and on pulling back the covers found blood on the sheets. I rang the after hours phone and the lady was very helpful and arranged a person to come to the room immediately and change the linen. ( see photos) The staff were apologetic. The manager was on holidays for the next 2 days and I asked for him to contact me. He phoned at 5pm on the monday. I asked how this could of happened and he said he would need to speak with housekeeping the next day and that he would let me know. I"m still waiting. Now here's the kicker- we stayed at this hotel same time last year. On this occasion the doona was covered in what looked like a whole cup of coffee. New sheets covered the stained doona but you could smell the coffee thru them- that's how we found the stain. Also our park/city view room was a solid red brick wall with absolutely no view so you couldn't even see what the weather was doing. The previous manager was very apologetic and promised that if we returned we would be given better service and offered to refund 1 nights accommodation . This was very kind so we did stay here again this year - everyone needs a second chance. Extremely disappointed in Mantra One Sandy Bay.

There’s a reason why all the other hotels sell out before this one does. We booked last minute at a busy time and paid what feels like an obscene amount for this place ($340/night). The lobby setup is very awkward, depending on which lift you get allocated to your mileage will vary. We had the Sandy Bay rd entrance. The entrance requires walking through the car park from the lobby, the lift is quite literally in the car park, a few stairs to get in from the street, we had a pram so not ideal. Lift is ancient and not particularly reassuring. Room has a physical key, no card and lift goes to all floors. Not particularly secure at all. Best part of the room was the ceiling height, relic from its former usage. Thankfully we had the northwest corner so view in both directions which was fine. Lounge was gross, needs replacing. Bed not particularly comfortable at all. The whole place feels like it’s dirty, everything worn out. Towels are clearly hand me downs from better hotels. Pillows might as well just be the pillowcases. Bare minimum of amenities. Kettle is one of the $8 kmart ones where it makes the water smell like plastic. Plenty of free parking nearby on the weekend. Admittedly my review is clouded by the fact we paid more than double what this hotel seems to ordinarily charge, if you pay $150/night it will feel perfectly adequate but if the price seems high, pay a little more to go to crown plaza or elsewhere because you’ll feel mightily disappointed here.

We stayed here for five nights, in a one bedroom apartment, and were very happy with the stay. The hotel is in a terrific location, just a short walk from Salamanca, many restaurants, the harbourside and the city.||Our apartment was well furnished, had a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and living areas, dishwasher, washing machine with dryer||There was no parking available in the hotel (all the spots were taken, since we had not done an advance booking); but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Our plan was to be out most of the day, and William, at check-in, told us where we could park just up the road at a very reasonable hourly cost between the hours of 8:30am and 6:00pm (free on weekends).||The kitchen is a bit icky in places, and needs a clean. And some drawers were broken and not operable. But putting this aside, the rest of the apartment was ok.
