I am a frequent customer of Mantra / All Accor hotels. This is because I have always had an excellent experience at any location I have ever stayed at (Magnetic Island, Palm Cove, Port Douglas, South Bank).||||When I was looking to book accommodation for a 7 night trip to Brisbane, I prioritised picking a Mantra hotel as I had excellent stays in the past and held the brand in high regard. I booked Mantra Terrace Hotel despite other hotels being cheaper, having better locations, and having higher reviews than Mantra Terrace Brisbane.||||My stay at Mantra Terrace Brisbane was totally disappointing and I am sad to say that I will now think twice before booking another stay at a Mantra location.||||I booked 7 nights stay in a Hotel Deluxe room. I paid extra for breakfast included on this room. When I checked in, I paid in full upon my arrival. I was asked whether I was okay with the price and then tapped my card. It was only after I had paid in full that I was notified - not by the hotel receptionist, but by the worker at the cafe - that the “breakfast included” was actually just coffee and anything in the glass cabinet.||||Why was this not advertised online? Why was this not communicated to me before I made payment? How does this possibly meet “breakfast included”? No reasonable person would interpret “breakfast included” as a coffee and stale sandwich wrapped in plastic… The price was outrageous in comparison to what was provided. I have lodged a complaint with ACCC for this product.||||It’s apparent that the cafe normally would provide a kitchen-made breakfast, but the kitchen is currently out of order. It appears from reviews online for the hotel that this has been an issue for some time.||||Moving on from the breakfast issue, the room I was given was # 305. Immediately when I entered the room, I noticed that the shower/bathroom had a distinct damp and musty smell. I then realised that the cause of this was black mould which was everywhere in the shower.||||A few days into my stay, I became unwell which I believe was caused by the black mould in the shower. After the 3rd night of my stay, I communicated this to reception and asked whether I could be put in another room. I was told that there were no available rooms (which was interesting, as I had noticed several empty rooms being cleaned on my floor alone that morning) but that they would ask housekeeping to clean the shower. I returned to the room after housekeeping and it seemed that they had used some cleaning spray in the shower, but the mould was quite clearly untouched. The smell was only temporarily masked by the cleaning products and returned the next day. I felt like throwing up each time I had to shower during my stay.||||Some other issues with the room included stains on the carpet and curtains, blood stains on the duvet, and a total lack of soundproofing in the room.||||Even though my room was not positioned nearby to the elevators, I could hear the “ding” of the elevator each time it was used. I could hear conversations by people in other rooms on my floor, toilets flushing, street noise… I have never experienced this before. Even with the air-conditioner set to a high fan speed and the bathroom ventilator on to produce some white noise, nothing could hide the noises outside my hotel room effectively.||||All in all, my stay was spent going elsewhere for breakfast despite paying for breakfast with the room, feeling unwell from the mould in the shower, and having disrupted sleep all night due to the poorly constructed room.||||I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. This location tarnishes the Mantra brand and reputation.||||When I contacted Accor to raise my concerns, they advised that Mantra Terrace Brisbane “no longer managed by Accor Reservations”. This seems contrary to their website, the Accor postered plastered all over the hotel, and their contact details, but sure…||||Do yourself a favour and avoid this hotel.
