Manzou Bakery

I have always wanted to come to Mazou ever since an acquaintance I know have told me that the cake cups that they get from here for all their occasions (their kids birthdays, celebrations, etc.), are really good... I've set my sights on this bakery. I was told it was a Japanese bakery. This was a few years ago. Yesterday (Sunday), my family and I were finally in the area and we found out it was a Chinese bakery. I ordered the Cake Cup Set (9 PC, $30 Tax Free), 1 of each flavor (Earl Grey, Match, Black Sesame, Mango, Strawberry, Chocolate, Cookies & Creme, Tiramisu, and Red Velvet). The cake cups look so cute. The logo of the bakery is also very cute. The service was great too. Very pleasant all around. They accept cash and e-transfer. No credit card & debit cards. Normally, people order online and come in to pick-up their orders, since they have a website to do online orders. But, it seems like they also do in-person purchases as well (since we did just walk in that day). We tried the tiramisu, mango, and matcha cake cups (saving the rest for later). My parents found the cake cups to be all foam/mousse and mob actual cake (which they disliked). They said that the tiramisu didn't have that iconic wine/alcohol taste. They said that the mango tasted better, since did taste like mango. They really enjoyed the matcha one, as it was the strongest flavor by far. For me, this style of cake is unique. Quite different from the cakes that I normally eat. It's quite fluffy and mousse/foamy like. Creamy, almost like a soft serve ice cream. The tiramisu was alright. There was a slight taste of something, but it was weak. The mango was stronger and was good. The matcha is so far my favorite one (I'm biased towards matcha). The cake is very soft too and there's not much of it in the first place. Edit: Finally ate the rest of the cakes. Black sesame is very strong. Earl Grey is strong, if you haven't eaten another strong flavored one. Red Velvet tastes like cream cheese icing, very heavy. Cookies & cream is good if you haven't eaten any of the other cakes yet. Chocolate and strawberry are standard, also strong flavors as well. It is a "cake in a cup" -- hence "cake cup". Overall, it's nice to try some new stuff like these, especially if the set of cake cups of 9 is tax free. I recommend you get 1 of each flavor too, y'know, try em all. You might just fall in love with their full cakes.

I got my wedding cake from here and it was so delicious. We got the strawberry shortcake and it was so delicious. Every bite had strawberries in it. I WILL BE COMING HERE AGAIN. It was so easy to communicate with them, make our payment and pick it up. 10/10 recommend

Got the Earl Grey Cake for my mom's birthday and it's got great texture to it! It's on the stronger side of black sesame, which my family loves, striking that perfect balance of "not too sweet". There was another cake at the table and this was unanimously the better one. Looking forward to trying the different flavours in all of their cups!

The best cake cups I’ve ever had. The first time I had cake cups from Manzou Bakery was back in 2020 at a friend’s wedding. Fast forward to 2024, I knew I had to get these cake cups for my own bridal shower. Manzou Bakery did not disappoint - their cake cup flavours were so unique and tasty that my girl friends were raving about it. I highly recommend this bakery and I’ll definitely be coming back for more desserts! Extra points and stars for the friendly service, both via email and in person!

All the flavors were amazing! Make sure to place an order 2 hours ahead of time for the cake cups. The pick-up was really quick and easy. We ordered one of every flavor except the red velvet because it was sold out. All the cakes were so soft nothing was overly sweet. Definitely recommend!!

I ordered a cake from Manzou Bakery for my birthday and it was absolutely beautiful! The design was stunning and it tasted really good too. The only downside was that the cake started melting, even though I followed the storage instructions. You can see in the picture that it didn’t hold up well, which was a bit disappointing. I also had a hard time finding the shop. Google Maps kept directing me to the wrong side and it took about 15 minutes to locate the actual place. Overall, the cake was delicious and looked amazing but I hope they can improve the stability of the cake and update their location on maps.

The chocolate cake was sweeter than I expected. I think we would enjoy it more if it had some sort of crunch to it as the overall cake was too soft for us. Albeit, the mousse was very light. Perhaps some other flavors like raspberries or dark chocolate would help -- but this is just a personal preference. Google maps also kept giving us directions to dead-ends and made it a bit difficult to locate.

This was a fun way to try different cake flavors! Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as I expected. There was more cream than cake and the cream had a gummy texture that I wasn’t a fond of. Maybe the full size cake would be better? The service was really nice!

3.5/5 I ordered this cake for my partner's birthday through their website. The ordering process was seamless, and I actually had a change of heart and decided to change the flavour, which I contacted them on Instagram for. They say ~3 business days for a reply but they got back to me in about a day or so, which was great :) The cake we got is a strawberry shortcake. The shortcake is light and fluffy and it had a bunch of strawberries both on top and inside of the cake.

Family owned bakery serving asian flavour cliffon cakes. They're in a random plaza in scarborough but trust it's worth it, very easy to find parking to pick up your order. I highly recommend mango, matcha, strawberry flavour. I always order from them for special occasions, they have very simple cute designs and they sometimes come out with special flavour cakes and special designs for christmas. service is nice but nothing special in person. The bakery is only takeout! The daughter of the family is super sweet on social media and very active on their instagram account!

I wanted to do something different for my daughter's birthday party than a regular cake or cupcakes and I stumbled upon the Manzou bakery's site. Their cake cups looked cute and portable so we decided to give it a test run and ordered 6 flavours; chocolate, oreo, mango, strawberry, black sesame and red velvet. Although all the flavours were good, mango, red velvet and oreo were the winners for the birthday bash. These cake cups are well prepared with delicious layers of sponge cake with generous amount of cream without too much sweetness. The cake cups were well received by everyone at the party (10-11 year olds). I will definitely be ordering again for our next get together!

Was debating or not whether to write this review as it was a huge disappointment for me that I wanted to just sweep it under the rug and forget about it. I usually have several birthday celebrations meaning multiple cakes but this time it was only this one so had high hopes. First off , I was SUPER excited to try this place as read so many amazing reviews . My mom almost didn't want to go here due to the comments about it being in a sketchy area ( she was scared). She did eventually cave seeing how sad I was when she said the cake might be bought somewhere else. We ordered the sesame cake . The communication was between my mom and them so can't really comment much on this . Except , she did request them to put ' Happy Birthday Carmen' and we ( especially me ) was super upset when they forgot to do this :( Oh wells, on to the most important part- the taste , unfortunately this was also a let down . It was extremely bland and had little to no sugar - this is coming from someone that doesn't have a sweet tooth anymore and prefers dark chocolate cause milk is too sweet. The texture was also odd - we did eat the cake a day after pickup but this shouldn't have made that much of a difference based on my experience from other bakeries Presentation was not as aesthetically pleasing as I hoped for . It looked especially unattractive since it was missing the happy birthday sign. The size felt smaller than regular 6' but I think it's cause there was not much decoration on it

OMG this was absolutely amazing! I loved the strawberry shortcake in Snow Berries design. First off the cake looked soooo good - it was too cute I didn't even want to eat it. The design is great and exactly like the pictures. The cake itself was nice and light - a delicious fluffy texture. There's tonnes of fresh strawberries inside which taste delicious. The cream frosting is light too and not too sweet. Definitely a place I'd love to visit again. PS - you have to pre-order about 1-2 days in advanced! They don't have walk ins. Thank you Manzou team, your product and service is outstanding!

Located in Scarborough in an industrial area, it's located way way in the back of some buildings. It's more of a order online and pick up rather than an actual bakery with items to impulse buy. In any case, it was pretty smooth process and pick up was ready at the time agreed upon. Black sesame - has a great and bold black sesame flavor which is really enjoyed. The cake is light and fluffy, the cream on top and in between the cake layers provided nice moisture and sweetness. 5/5. Earl grey - It's not my favorite flavor but I like how they did it here. It comes in bold but not too sweet or too bitter. 5/5. Matcha - this one I think could use a slightly more bitter/green tea flavor to it but it's still good as is. 4.5/5. Price: 9 cups for 27$ is a great price for what you get. Definitely recommend!

Ordered here a couple times already and each time the cake is so delicious and pretty! It's an asian inspired flavour bakery that has a super cute, simple, delicate look to their cakes. There is ma store front, but it's online orders only. You can't shop around when you arrive at the store since there is no display and nothing to look at. You go to pick up the cake and it's one door with a little take out window to grab your goods. Tried two of their cakes before. Strawberry Shortcake which is a cute pink colour with little icing strawberries on it. Adorable! Taste was great and refreshing, not too sweet and amazing texture. The second cake I've had before is their matcha mousse cake. 5/5! Absolutely loved this cake as it's again not too sweet, has a decent matcha flavour, is light and fluffy! Can't wait to try more of their cakes here. I see on their menu that they have cake cups, 9 for $27. What a great way to sample all their flavours!

This is my second second-time ordordering the black sesame cake. My parents really like it because it's not too sweet. The cakes are beautiful as well. One small problem I had was that I wanted the text 'Summer mood (w/ a sun emoji)' on it. Instead of a small sun emoji following the text, they literally wrote '(w/ a sun emoji)'. I thought it was obvious but I guess not lol The location is a bit hard to find, it's tuck away in the back. Plug it into Google Maps is key to finding it.

Manzou Bakery is one of the cutest bakeries around! Their cakes and cake cups are so cute and very flavourful, with just enough sweetness that doesn't overpower the palate. If you don't like overly sweet desserts, Manzou Bakery is the way to go. I strongly recommend their black sesame, as the flavour is very strong and pronounced, unlike other patisseries and bakeries. Their prices are just about average, but the aesthetic of their cakes are very cute. Note that they do not do walk-ins - you must order ahead of time. They offer assorted cake cups so you can try a little bit of each flavour instead of sticking with a single whole cake. They also don't charge extra to write a message on the cake but it is on the bottom of the cake - not on a chocolate plaque. Definitely a hidden gem! Tip: They're located in a plaza in Scarborough and the parking lot is pretty difficult to find. I've tried Manzou Bakery twice by navigating with Google Maps and I always end up in the wrong parking lot :)

Placed an order for their cake cups for Mother's Day. I really wanted to be able to experience all their flavours, so their cake cup offering is perfect. It's so nice to bring for gatherings as it's so much more fun for people to pick their own flavour or share multiple. I didn't get to try every flavour but everyone in my family really enjoyed what they had. The cake is super light and airy, almost like a mousse at times. The flavours I did try were noticeable enough but not too artificial tasting. Best of all, they're the perfect amount of sweet! Those who have a low sweets tolerance would love this too. The size of the cake cups are also perfect. At $27 for the 9 cake cups, it's a very reasonable price point. I'd def come back to try more of their items or just get their cake cups again :) The one thing I will say is the location is a bit hard to find -- in the very back of a lowkey plaza with not much else in it.

By far one of the BEST tasting and affordable cakes in the gta! Ive pretty much tried all their cake flavours from the cake cups and my favourite are the black sesame and chocolate! So GOOD!

Absolutely the best cake we have EVER had (cookies and cream, fyi). I was going to bake a birthday cake for my son's birthday, but when I wasn't up to it my husband suggested ordering from a bakery (instead of getting a grocery store cake). I wasn't sure it could be done since it was the day before, but Manzou came through with flying colours. My son loved his cake. It was sweet enough without being closing; rich without being heavy. It was the moistest cake we have ever had, even the next day (we saved a bit).

So glad I discovered this hidden bakery in Scarborough! I wasn't sure what to flavour to order, because I didn't know what they would taste like. Luckily, they have these cake cups sets that you can order in sets of 1, 6 or 9. Being a big foodie, I obviously got 9 (you know, for research purposes). They were about the size of a cupcake each and the total came to $27, which I thought was pretty good. I loved the texture and consistencies of these. If you like cakes from chinese bakeries, you will love these. They are super light and fluffy with cream filling. The flavours were on point too. I think my favourite flavour was black sesame. I thought the red velvet was pretty good too. Normally, red velvet is pretty dense and rich. They did a good job capturing the red velvet and cream cheese flavours, while at the same time making it much lighter. The other flavours were earl grey, salted caramel, mango mousse, matcha mousse, tiramisu, chocolate, and cookies and cream. They were all honestly very good. It didn't take long to finish them. Also, the writing on the cake was super cute and neat! I don't even know how they were able to write that small. Ordering online on their website is super easy. You pay online and pick the date and time you want to pick up. No delivery option at this time. Definitely will be back to order some whole cakes, now that I know how the flavours taste like!

This is a small family bakery located in a more industrial area in Scarborough. As others have said, it was quite difficult to find and not what you would expect a bakery to look like. That being said, the Sesame cake we ordered tasted really fresh and they didn't skimp out on the sesame! Design was pleasing and you can order online for pick up on their website.

I was in charge of picking up dessert for the family holiday dinner this year. Manzou Bakery kept popping up in my IG feed so I decided to order from there. I was too late to order a cake so I went with an order of the 9 cake cups ($27) and 6 cake cups ($20). Flavors I chose: black sesame, strawberry, mango, earl grey, matcha and chocolate. I sampled the black sesame, mango and earl grey. The black sesame was an easy favourite but the earl grey was also tasty! The bakery is located in a non-descript industrial strip mall in Scarborough so could be a bit difficult to find. There is a simple sign with the business name so really keep your eyes out! We thought the cake cups were good. I'd return for a full sized black sesame cake in the future.

I love love love their cakes! I brought from them so many times ever since I discovered it. For birthdays whenever I order a cake here, all my friend and family says they LOVE the taste. The texture is so soft and creamy. However what I love about it is that it's not super sweet. It's sooooo good. This is my absolute favourite cake place to order for all occasions!

Manzou Bakery is located for pickup in an industrial part of Scarborough. I ordered the Earl grey cake a week in advance for my father's 70th birthday. We ran into some traffic on our way before closing and I DMed their IG to notify them. They were very sweet and informed me that it was totally okay. The girl was nice enough to give me candles and suggest I carry the box via the bottom instead of the handles due to the weight. The cake: Earl gray was a flavour that my family enjoyed - it has an Earl gray mousse with a light sponge cake. You can definitely taste the tea in the mousse. Delicious and was a hit amongst my family. I'll be back to order a black sesame cake to try in the future. The process: Order online, select the type of cake, design and any messages you want on it. Schedule a pickup time and pay online. Easy peasy. Check their Instagram for more helpful tips and better visuals.

If you are looking for a beautiful minimalistic cakes, Manzou Bakery is a great family-owned business that will satisfy your cake craving. These cakes are soft, light and not too sweet which is the recipe for PERFECTION. Flavours in the Picture: Earl Grey - One of my favourite teas infused in a light chiffon cake and cream. I always love earl grey for the hints of orange and lemon. Matcha - Matcha was so delicious and not too sweet. The matcha flavour was strong perfectly balanced and not too overwhelming. Tiramisu - Love this flavour as it is sweet and rich with coffee flavour. The mascarpone cheese was soft and light with the vanilla chiffon cake. This is the perfect take on a classic dessert. Black Sesame - Tastes exactly like a black sesame dessert that you get at Chinese dessert places. IN LOVE Salted Caramel - This was a little bit sweet side for me but I think they replaced the flavour with strawberry mousse! Can't wait to try it Mango - The mango was so smooth and rich which was stellar mango mousse

Seeing as how hyped this place was on blogto and IG, I decided to get a little treat for my dad's bday! I ordered 6 cake cups to try out as many flavour as possible at one time. These are Chinese-style bakery cakes but with a modern aesthetic for the younguns. I am a little bit disappointed with this place though. These are just very average cakes. The cake itself was dry and the cream didn't do much to help as it was nothing outstanding, just cheap whipped cake cream. Some flavours were better than others; we liked the mango and caramel flavour better as it was stronger tasting. Black sesame was not our favourite. I think for the quality, quantity, and price, it's not quite worth it - especially if your average run-of-the-mill, neighbourhood Chinese bakery can offer the same but cheaper. It's located in a strip/industrial plaza in Scarborough - kinda near STC. It's located at the back of the plaza and a bit difficult to find so use your GPS! Definitely willing to give this place a redo after some improvements!

I saw this place on Instagram and a video on Facebook and was very intrigued to try it. I got the 9 cake cup set that was $27. The flavors in the picture from top left to bottom right is matcha mousse, tiramisu, black sesame, cookies and cream, chocolate, salted caramel, mango mousse, earl grey, and strawberry mousse. It is an awesome concept where it's great for those who want small desserts without the big commitment or those who want to try every flavor. Perfect for me because I love trying everything. The cake cups I got were pretty dry but all the flavors were good! I would say each one is subtle in the flavor it was trying to achieve and some were sweeter then others. This review is based solely on the 9 cake cups. The staff was very kind and caring just like the video I saw. Overall, I probably won't order the cake cups again but I will try the other items next time as the cakes looks delicious!

I saw this bakery on someone's social media, the presentation drew me in! The cups are smaller than I expected, but in the end, the size is just right for 1 person or 2-3 people to sample each flavour. They offer 9 flavours, however, I decided to opt out of 1 of the flavours and doubled on another. All the flavours were done exceptionally well, especially Black Sesame and Matcha Mousse! Not many bakeries can get matcha, black sesame, or earl grey flavours right, but they really impressed me! I am definitely going back to order larger cakes for future occasions!!

Their on line order and pick up is quick and easy ! $27 tax included for 9 mini cake comes in 9 different favours ! Taste is light and not so sweet which I like the most ! You can tell each favour by each bite ! Will try their cake soon !

Ordered the earl grey cake. It was wet. I love a moist cake but not to the point that I can gently press with a cutlery and liquid comes out. It's like the cake was dunked in milk. The taste and presentation was ok. It would probably taste better if it was not soaking wet cake

In a corporate area, kind of hard to find but once you see it, it's easy to get to. Very quick to pick up as it's only a person there giving it to you behind a plexiglass. Really friendly. Cake is packaged well and is SOOo good!! Not overly sweet and just really pretty. Excited to try the other flavours. One of the best cakes I've ever tried.

Kind of pricey, but the cake tasted delicious. The sponge cake was infused with tea, which really highlighted the earl grey flavour, and the cream was nice and light.

Purchased the chocolate cake for my birthday and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. The chiffon was tasty and light and the cream was well balanced and not greasy at all. Everyone at dinner thought it was delicious and my grandparents even commented on how good it was again the day after we ate it. It was also beautifully decorated and so easy to place an order. Highly recommend.

Happened across this gem of a place whilst browsing Yelp for new businesses! Ordered a box of six originally to try and absolutely loved it. I ended up ordering another two boxes of 9 and one box of 6 for my workplace and everyone loved it. Now all my coworkers are ordering from them!

I ordered a tiramisu cake for Mother's Day and it was delicious. Their online ordering system is super organized and easy to navigate. When I went to go pick it up, the staff were super friendly. The cake wasn't that sweet which my family and I loved about. Cake display and packaging is so cute. Only problem I had was trying to find their place, but this is actually my problem because they indicated how to locate their shop on their Instagram story highlights. Definitely recommending this place to everyone I know.

This bakery may not be a convenient location for retail but def a place to order your cake for any special occasions. Love their earl grey cake. The special orange flavor one in the pics is for CNY

Ordered the black sesame cake for a birthday and it was great. Just the right amount of sweetness and sesame taste. Definitely will try the other flavours too. I wanted to change the pickup time and the staff were very responsive and friendly bout it.

Get the tiramisu! You won't regret it. Super friendly staff. It's tucked inside an industrial plaza, can be tricky to find. But do go find it.

The team at Manzou probably makes the best quality chiffon cakes and the most beautiful creations for any celebration. Being somewhat of a very picky chiffon cake connoisseur, Manzou is my all-time favorite. It is soft, fluffy and has the perfect texture. I like the vanilla and matcha. The vanilla is a nice flavor -- unlike other bland or artificially tasting vanilla cakes. Matcha is just the right amount. Their cake designs and high quality, coupled with expert cake making technique, makes the Manzou team the best. I LOVE their cakes!

I ordered 9 assorted flavors of cupcakes for pick up at their store front location. Total came to $27 including tax, which was good value for the fare. The cuocakes were literally baked into little cups. I liked how light and airy the cakes were and that the icing was not too sweet. I will def be back!
