Google
I'd give it a 3.5 but I can't Food was good can't say the contrary but I feel like I would have had the same pleasure in any vietnamese or fusion restaurant for half the price. The food tastes mainly like the different sauces they use, most of it tastes like very good nuoc mam sauce but still a bit too much similar. The main disappointement was the Chilled Bo Ssam, it is very expensive for few pieces of duck, salad, cucumber and again sauces... For the price, I'd expect a bit more work, maybe some herbes, some pickled veggies to make it more interesting. Deserts were ok, a bit too sweet I'd say which is surpising in an asian place where usually sugar is not the star of the show. The cocktail was good. The wine was not good, we ton a red Syrah really bad wine and a whote trebbiano was better but not good. The AC was quite high si it was a bit chilly and music a bit loud. Don't get me wrong, it is still a good place to eat, just defikitly not the best. Overall, we had better dining experience in other places in Winnipeg.

Excellent restaurant! Very good food, and top notch service. We tried almost all of their dishes, and everything we had was delicious. The price of the food was also reasonable for an upper scale restaurant. We’d definitely come back to eat here!

Food was very tasty and very well presented. Pork belly bun was a show stopper. If you're going on a date make sure you order the buns, beef tartar, and one of the noodle dishes. Atmosphere was good, missing some music. Service was below par. Our server didn't smile once. Can't say it was the end of the night. We went at 5 pm on a Saturday. Every time we asked for anything we got the eye roll. 18%, 20%, 24% gratuity for minimal service absolutely borthers me. Go for the food, not the service.

Google
Food was nice here. Overall 8/10. Presentation was phenomenal and cost wasn't too bad. Some dishes were extremely flavourful but was quickly overtaken by the next share plate that was too salty, then not salty/flavoured enough. It's nice to share the food and plates are designed as such. I'd go back with a group but not alone or just with one person. Would want more selection. Outstanding decor though!

The food was delicious. Incredibly flavourful and presented well. Every dish was so tasty but the pork belly steamed buns and the wild mushroom pasta stood out, for us. Service was friendly and helpful. It was our first time and our server was helpful with describing each dish and pointing out some of the local favourites. The portion sizes are not overly large, but with a combination of small plates (one of each menu 'section' for 2 people), we were more than satisfied. We will spread the word and will be back. Perfect for a date night or smaller groups (2-6).

Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. It was relatively easy make a last minute reservation on a Friday. Place is quite small just like their other restaurant Enoteca and has very similar vibe and menus. Do remember this place is more of a wine bar - with almost no cocktail options. Tartar was delicious but I found the other veggie dish to be a bit plain. We had two small shared dishes and two glasses of wine and the bill came up to be $100 after 18% tip. I wasn't so happy about the fact that our server kept on reminding us about the next reservation. I felt a bit rushed out.

Google
We had dinner there. The food was excellent, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. This is a fusion Asian restaurant and the food is truly a fusion of various Asian cooking. It's hard to say whether a dish is Chinese or Japanese or Korean. The service was polished and efficient. The price was on the high side but not outrageous. All in all, a decent place to have dinner when visiting Winnipeg.

Google
Great beef tartare and bao buns! The rest of the dishes were okay - the lobster chow mein was on the salty side but they did offer to fix it. Overall great service and ambience!

Yelp
(4) A cozy restaurant with friendly and informative staff serving an Asian fusion seasonal menu. We had a number of dishes including all the buns, the cucumber salad, beef tartar, duck confit noodles and the pork & leek dumplings. Everything was tasty, but the beef tartar was the best I've had in the city. A traditional take on it, fresh ingredients (with an Asian radish addition) and a focus on keeping the dish cold. Served with four large pieces of lightly toasted sourdough, it was easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
I'll just start by saying that this is probably one of the best meals I've ever had. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is commendable. They are quick to help you out if you're having trouble with the menu, make suggestions, and not once did I go long without having my glass of water refilled. The inside of the restaurant is rather small, but beautiful. It's simple and comfortable with a lot of great natural lighting. Unfortunately, I did not have a reservation so we did not get a table. However, we got to sit at a bar looking directly out of the window and onto the patio, and it was great. No complaints. To start, we ordered the nagano pork belly steamed bun, which was so incredibly tender and flavourful. I was a little hesitant at first because it's seasoned with a spicy mustard, and I HATE mustard. But man, that was good. Next we had the wild mushroom and egg noodle dish with truffle and miso. That was my favourite. It was so creamy and flavourful, packed with umami that coats your mouth and just has you at a loss for words. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved it. I'll be having that again, for sure. Following that we had the lobster chow mein with chilli, black beans, greens, snow peas, and sprouts. While it was a tasty dish, I would say it was rather underwhelming, especially when comparing it to the mushroom and truffle. For dessert we had the dark chocolate tart with vanilla mousse, sea buckthorn, and sea salt. It was so good. The bitterness from the chocolate, sweetness from the mousse, the sourness from the sea buckthorn, and then the saltiness from the salt (obviously) just made this dessert so perfect. I would definitely recommend it and you have to get all the flavours in one bite. It's phenomenal. This was easily my date's favourite part of the meal. Overall, a great experience. You do pay quite a bit but you are certainly doing it for the quality of food you're getting. I will certainly be back for more!

Yelp
We agreed to reservations for "two at the bar" with a sigh, but it turned out to be the best seats in the house. We preferred the Pork belly steamed bun to the duck steamed bun. From there: Order four dishes & share! We indulged in the chicken chili glass noodles had a delightful kick. The wild mushroom egg noodles is their signature dish and it was clear why! BBQ brisket and ginger beef rounded out our meal! Excellent portion size and still not a bite left! Calm, pleasant, friendly staff. The front of the house orchestrates well with the timely entrees and the back of the house, all in front of our eyes. We had a bird's eye view watching all meals prepared from our seats at the bar! It's like we were part of an eloquent cooking show!

Yelp
Maque has the same chef as Enoteca so when I tried Enoteca and loved it I made it a point to come to Maque and boy was it amazing!! Its the same tapas style concept as Enoteca, but the food is distinctly asian fusion. We started off with the Nagano pork belly buns which were absolutely amazing! The steamed buns were super soft and fluffy and the pork belly was extremely tender. The tuna tartare looks and tastes like the tuna tartare from Enoteca. The fried squid was absolutely amazing!!!! Its so easy for squid to become overdone and too chewy but this squid was tender and just the right amount if chewiness. It balanced well with the tangy taste of the cucumber and kholrabi. The highlight of the jumbo crab bacon and lobster is definitely the coconut red curry bisque which really tied the whole dish together and I wished I had other things to dip in the bisque to soak up all the other flavours. I also highly recommend the beef tartare! We also had the prawn lo mein which although tasted good did feel like something I could get from a chinese restaurant. The service was also amazing as our waiter was very attentive all night. The place also seems to change their menu or the embellishments to the dishes every so often so more of a reason to make repeat visits here!!

Yelp
The overwhelming feeling I got from Máquè is that everything was fine, but very overpriced for what they delivered. We had a number of dishes, all of which were over seasoned to the point where salt was the only dominant lingering flavour. The tuna tartare was especially guilty here. One standout exception to this rule was the tomato and tofu salad - very nice twist on a caprese with a lovely kick. Other than that the steamed buns were fine - we tried all of them and the pork was the standout - but again not nice enough to demand the price, even though they are cheaper than the rest of the menu. The wine list features some picks you don't see elsewhere so maybe best as a wine bar. I don't regret going but probably won't be heading back, at least for the food.

Yelp
EXCEPTIONAL! A++ from the food to the staff. Great atmosphere. My new favorite Winnipeg restaurant. Did I say A+? Try the buns.

Yelp
Been there twice with the same experience. Food is interesting and good, not memorable for the price point. Wine pairing is available but service doesn't really engage so if you are not a sophisticated pallet you are on your own to interpret. Desserts are more generous than some of the sharing courses and uninspired. No aperitifs, port or hot drink options to finish. Nice setting. Menu looks good but feels more like a fast food push through than an engaging dining experience.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the price is totally worth it. This is the best service I've ever had. The waiter is attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The fried rice was amazing, it was the best dish we had, it was so simple yet the execution of the dish was superb. I'm filipino and I've eaten tons of fried rice in my life, this one is by far the best .

Yelp
5 stars across the board. -one of my newest favourite restaurants in the Peg. -food was utterly phenomenal. Fresh and flavourful. Asian Fusion. Dessert was soooooo yummy as well. -family style share each dish. -Very similar atmosphere to Segovia or Enoteca. Romantic and cozy, lovely interior design. Reservation recommended. Awesome music and not too loud. -Service- off the charts fantastic!! Even if our server was busy and we had an empty plate sitting there, someone else would take it away. Extremely friendly and aware. Because there are so many dishes to try, they often changed the plates. The timing of when the food was served was also impeccable. -Wine list was wonderful - such a hidden gem.

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in Winnipeg! The food is awesome, and the restaurant is really cute and small. The only downside is they don't have cocktails, but their wine list is great.

Yelp
There have been a lot of new restaurants popping up in the city lately and I've been trying them out as fast as a mom with an 11 month old can get out. Because of that I feel like I have gotten even more picky when choosing a restaurant. I only get out a couple of times a month so it better be good! I was on the fence whether I would like Maque or not. Deseo isn't at the top of my list and they are the same owners (my friends love it, I just never got on board). I ended my meal wanting to come back again as soon as possible. We made a reservation based on the review by my personal bible - Peg City Grub. Making a reservation is crucial because there are maybe 15 tables? The space is quite small. We ended up at the kitchen bar which was cool to be able to watch the chefs cook. Downside was that we were at the end and it was a chilly day so the door opening wasn't fun and the jacket hooks were beside me/basically in my face. We ordered three dishes to share since its family style. The menu changes all the time and what we ordered was what I consider Asian fusion. They were all phenomenal. I don't usually order dessert, but they had panna cotta that evening. I can hardly find it anywhere so when I see it I order it. Best panna cotta I have ever had. I'm going to go again next week - can't wait to try some new dishes.

Yelp
Great service, my fried rice was under cooked and they changed it right away. The crab soup was the best dish, small portion but great flavor. Def need to order the bun with pork belly, their dishes have small portion so u need that to fill you up a little. Beef tartar was alrite. Dessert was very light and delicious. Great for date night.

Yelp
Went this past weekend with another couple (mid-late 30s) and truly enjoyed the experience. We went at their recommendation and will definitely be back soon! The service upon arrival (took my coat and showed us to the table) was genuine and helpful. Our server knew each detail about the menu and made some helpful recommendations along the way. We all agreed to split each dish as it came out and I highly recommend this approach. The sablefish, beef tartar and Brussels sprouts were each melt in your mouth delicious! We truly enjoyed each dish! Flavour, temperature, presentation and timeliness were all on point. The portion sizes of the deserts and lack of coffee was maybe the only downside to the evening but did not take away from our night in the slightest!

Yelp
Ordered 3 dishes.....pork dumplings, a mushroom & noodle dish & a crab dish. All were excellent. The 1 wisky they have is also enjoyable. Will return to try more dishes.

Yelp
The chef is extremely creative. His food is absolutely delicious with wonderful flavours and combinations. The staff is young, hip and very professional. They do 2 seatings which is perfect. It is not a large space but it is very charming and casually elegant. Will most definitely return.

Yelp
This place is just crazy good. Most interesting part. . . you order. . . and they bring the courses you ordered in the order they think most complements the food. Initially, I was taken aback. But, after experiencing it, was one of the coolest ideas I've seen in a restaurant. And, the VERY knowledgeable girl who helped me, paired wines by the glass that were spot on. I wasn't overly impressed by smoked duck bun. . . but not sure I've ever been blown away by any bun. The pan fried squid was just incredible. It had heat, it had interesting vegetables and crunch and texture. And the Sauvignon Blanc with it was stellar. Then came the roasted beets with pickled beets on top and a black sesame butter underneath with dried pineapple added for good measure. Whoever dreamed up this dish is a culinary GENIUS. Then came the wild mushroom egg noodles with miso and truffle. I don't know how else to say it, it was better than steak! (That's a high compliment in my book). It was coupled with a wonderful Spanish red that went perfectly with the creaminess of the noodles. Finished with the chocolate tart that has "sea buckthorn" with it. (sweet and tart). Think combo of passion fruit and peach purée to complement the chocolate. It was just completely off the charts. Only demerit for the place is no fortified wine or coffee to go with dessert. Oh well, good excuse for more wine. Eat here. You won't be sorry. Oh, left off the Japanese whiskey to start. Best start I've had to a meal in two years.

Yelp
amazing asian fusion. perfect portioning. one of the best spots at this price point in the city

Yelp
I've spent a long time looking for that perfect balance of "fancy restaurant" and "cool hang out" for dinner and drinks. Friends, look no further, Maque is the place you want to be. As soon as you walk in you get that classy restaurant feel for date night. When you hear the wu-tang playing you realize it's a pretty cool place to hang out with your friends too. The portions are definitely on the small side but they will not disappoint. The first dish we tried was the pork steamed bun. One word for you: tender. We followed the steamed buns with baby potatoes. I know what your thinking, potatoes are the most boring vegetable out there why the heck would you order that as an appetizer. The cured pork sprinkled on top along with the Japanese mayo will completely change your mind on that boring side dish. It had the perfect amount of sweet, salty and crispy. Our next order was the lobster with eggplant. I will admit I was hoping for a bit more lobster, but the eggplant was the most luscious and flavourful experience with a vegetable in my entire life. The sauce is made with black beans and spicy chili. When you take your first bite you will look at the person across from you with a serious look and all you can say is.... wow. Pure joy! Our final dish was the lamb with egg noodles. It comes with a carrot butter that is to die for. This was our largest dish of the night and my partner's favourite. The lamb will melt in your mouth immediately, and I have never tasted a more fresh noodle in my life. The last thing I need to touch on was the delightful service. Our waiter was attentive, kind and knowledgeable. Everything was fresh and delicious. I know that I will be coming back here for future girls nights and future date night. Every table was filled all night, so you know that I am not the only one who loves this place. Check it out winnipeg!

Yelp
The food was excellent. From the salads, through the raw, to the heavier protein dishes. Each dish was executed with finesse with interesting and sometimes surprising flavour profiles. Stand-outs included the cucumber-mint-kale-etc salad, the steak tartare which was exceptional, and the blue swimmer crab which was delicately amazing. Prices were very fair, and I was even pleasantly surprised with the final bill. The downsides: I reserved the kitchen bar (overlooks the kitchen) but was pushed to the window by the door without notice. That might be excusable given the party-of-3 awkward sizing, but what rubbed me wrong wasn't the lack of advance notice in spite of specific reservation, but the dramatic eye roll when I brought it up to the server. Also our water glasses were empty for far too long on several occasions before anyone ever came back around. The worst offence is the lack of hood fan in the restaurant. I love good food but nearly just as strong a sentiment is my hate for having to dry clean everything I wore to a restaurant because they haven't managed their space properly. So, the food is amazing, the service mediocre, and be prepared to smell when leaving. I will give it another try but will dress accordingly with clothes ready for the cleaners.
