Such a great resort for anyone seeking a relaxing, wellness-themed, community-positive getaway. I was there on a yoga retreat. The facilities are great, the food (mostly grown on their farm) is delicious and quite healthy, the beach is beautiful, and the neighboring town of Chacala is low-key pleasant. There are lots of great excursion options also. Recommended!

I stayed for a week here for a yoga and wellness retreat, and it was a wonderful experience. My room was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. There's lots of positives here - great food, professional service, and a very helpful and friendly staff. The beach front location was also truly a plus. I am so happy I went.

This place is one of the most incredible, down to earth, hospitality oriented with consistent values for the community and the earth that I have ever experienced. The food is grown at their own farm and world class. The beach is gentle and spectacular. I unequivocally recommend mar de jade!

What a fabulous resort. Amazing, helpful staff. Very clean. The food was top notch with so many fruits and vegetables and options for vegan or gluten free. Pool was lovely. A short walk down the beach for safe swimming. Also loved the talk from the owner and how much they give back to the community.

A truly exceptional retreat venue — deeply supportive, beautifully run, and unforgettable. I recently led a week-long mindfulness meditation retreat at Mar de Jade, and it exceeded every expectation. The accommodations were very good - simple and beautiful - with many rooms built right into the hillside with stunning ocean views, creating a sense of serenity from the moment you arrive. For those with mobility concerns, I highly recommend letting the front desk know in advance; garden-level rooms are available and avoid the many stairs required to reach hillside rooms. Our meditation hall was excellent: spacious, quiet, airy, and equipped with everything we needed. There are ceiling fans and AC and a sound system. Our hall - del Mar - had expansive ocean views and the constant sound of the waves. (The hall was up a steep flight of stairs, so do check accessibility if needed.) As a retreat leader, I felt thoroughly supported — every logistical detail was handled smoothly, allowing me to focus entirely on teaching and holding space. The yoga and movement offerings were another highlight. Mar de Jade provides a daily 7:30 am yoga (or movement) class open to all guests. Retreat leaders can also request a dedicated teacher for their own group, which we chose since we were observing silence for the first four days. It was an excellent option and integrated beautifully into our schedule. The spa is wonderful - serene, professional, and deeply relaxing - and many participants took advantage of restorative treatments during free time. One of the aspects I most appreciate about Mar de Jade is its commitment to the local community. Staying at the retreat center helps support both the Tao de Jade organic farm and the Chacala community Montessori school, which provide nourishment, education, and stability for local families. Knowing that our retreat contributed directly to these programs made our time there feel even more meaningful. What truly sets Mar de Jade apart is the extraordinary staff. Every person we encountered was kind, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful. They anticipated our needs, handled details with care, and made the entire experience remarkably easy for a retreat leader. And the food — absolutely beyond expectation. Farm-to-table, organic, fresh, and deeply nourishing. Every meal was delicious, and our participants are still talking about it. Mar de Jade is a place of warmth, beauty, service, and wholehearted hospitality. I recommend it without reservation to anyone considering hosting or attending a retreat here!

Mar de Jade truly is a jewel. I hosted a yoga retreat there the first week of November and it was a wonderful experience! The food was excellent, fresh and healthy. The staff was gracious and warm. The yoga room was lovely . We had the honor of arriving on día de los muertos and were invited to contribute to the beautiful altar that was built and assembled by the trade school connected to the resort. We enjoyed the Temescal ceremony with Alejandro deeply. We loved the salsa lessons taught by Hugo! The therapists at the spa were wonderful and Chacala is a lovely little spot. Mar de Jade is a truly special place that supports the local community in wonderful ways. Michelle was an outstanding support for our retreat and our group enjoyed the experience deeply.

The amazing location, the beautiful common spaces, the fresh and delicious food and the friendly staff were all outstanding! They were amazing about labelling food gluten free (I’m a celiac) and there were so many amazing options. I am a raving fan of the food! And amazing gluten free desserts at every meal. Lastly, the origin story of mar de Jade is so inspiring. To see how they are leveraging this business to give back to community is incredible. Such a joy to support this conscious and compassionate enterprise!

It offers a peaceful, very nurturing environment for retreats or just a little bit of time away from the hustle and bustle. The staff are amazing, the food is delicious and the location Is paradise

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind in a blissful setting, look no further. We spent 5 days here with our 6-year-old daughter and all three of us loved every moment. Each member of staff is delightful and helpful and ready to assist in any way possible, from booking transportation from the airport to arranging a nanny (We loved Marina, thank you!). We had booked a two-bed room with ocean view but upon check in found out we had been upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite! WOW! Our room was massive. Upon entry to the room, we entered the secondary sleeping area, with 2 twin beds and a large closet and shelf system. just beyond that was the shower, sink, and toilet area. This area is fully stocked with a variety of soaps and shampoo and conditioner, everything you need is here. Heading through the next door, you enter the main sleeping area with a king bed, a sofa, dressers, a wardrobe and a desk. Every detail has been thought of, from a water dispenser and glasses to a vase of fresh cut flowers. Beyond the sitting area is your private patio, looking out and over Mar de Jade out to the bay. The resort itself is large enough that you don't feel on top of the other guests but not so large that you can't find your way around. The pool area is lovely, we definitely spent some time at the bar drinking the amazing cocktails being created (they also have a great selection of Mexican and imported wine and beer), and the dining room is the perfect place to dine or relax. I was a little worried about the buffet-style food, never-really enjoying them before BUT the food being served at Mar de Jade is top notch. There was a salad or fruit station for each meal and then a different prepared meal each day. There was almost always a vegan or vegetarian option, and they were several GF options as well. We loved Every. Single. Meal. The staff was super accommodating, and often made our daughter molletes, or plain scrambled eggs for breakfast if the days options were too much for her. I will note, that we were there as Hurricane Roslyn was passing by and that combined with the prior storm had washed most of the beachfront away replacing it with rocks, so we were unable to enjoy the private beach but did find time to watch the sunset from the hammock palapa. We walked into Chacala to enjoy the beach and definitely recommend visiting town at least once, even if the beach is back at Mar de Jade. Make time for a spa service too, we had the most amazing massages. Next time we'll check out more of their offerings but the 90 minute massages were perfect for 2 busy parents. All in all, we loved our time at Mar de Jade and can't wait to return!

Yelp
I've visited Mar de Jade many times since 1983. A safe haven far away from the crowds, surrounded by natural beauty, it was a distinguished eco-tourism/health spa center before such places became the go-to destinations for socially conscious travelers. The family-owned retreat is still run by founder Dr. Laura del Valle and her daughter Angelica, who've made a tradition of providing guests with a personalized, custom-coordinated vacation experience. While the food service, accommodations and other amenities are all top-notch, what's really interesting is how party-oriented folks can intermingle alongside the new-age types -- with mutual respect. There's just something about Mar de Jade that exudes love.

Yelp
This special place almost defies description. It is a little slice of heaven, not in that "five star resort" kind of way, but in a much deeper way. Remotely located in Chacala, a tiny town about 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, it is unspoiled by high rises or tourists. I attended a Nia and Yoga retreat there last week and loved the natural beauty of the surroundings, the simple but comfortable rooms, and the fresh, delicious food. A big emphasis is on natural, organic and local -- so much so that Mar de Jade started a 17 acre farm to grow organic produce and give the locals more employment. Laura de Valle, a Mexican-American physician from Chicago, has created a wonderful place that supports the local community and brings restoration and health to visitors. The vast expanse of beach and the town of Chacala is a half-mile walk from the resort, which has a beautiful pool, hot tub and spa on site. Excursions for hiking and snorkeling are available at an extra cost. If you want to get away from it all and feel like you're helping the world become a better place, then this is where to go!

Yelp
I stayed at Mar de Jade during a two-week retreat and had a lovely time. The resort organized transportation to and from the airport which I appreciated. The staff was lovely, the place is beautiful, and the food, THE FOOD, was amazing! Everything is incredibly fresh! The spa was also amazing. I had a 90 min massage with Zonya which left me feeling like I was floating on air. The temazcal was also an amazing experience! If you enjoy sweat lodges I highly recommend the temazcal. I did drop one star because the bed was not comfortable, I had no mattress, just a large foam pad on something firm. Also, my room was directly across the kitchen so between achy muscles and early kitchen deliveries I was not getting much sleep...but the sound of crashing waves made it worth it...

Yelp
I could go on and on and on about this place as my husband and I had a truly magical experience! We stayed here as part of a New Year's Eve meditation retreat organized by Light Watkins and Claire Robbie, two delightful and beautiful human beings. We met new and experienced meditators from all walks of life, people from around the globe and enjoyed incredible food (3 buffet-style meals per day that somehow got better and better as time went on). For example, we had Mahi Mahi that melted in your mouth, fruit crepes, eggs benedict, enchiladas, stuffed peppers, banana bread french toast, shrimp fajitas and the list goes on and on. There was always salad and fresh fruit available...I had beans at every meal (and I don't really care for beans), sauces I never heard of and didn't really know what was in them but was never disappointed and squeezed lime juice over most every dish...sublime!!! AND, all the food comes from their organic farm!!! I would return for the food alone. The magic is the people. The owners are two of the nicest people I ever met. My husband and I had the pleasure of spending some time with them and their extended family members in the hot tub. They live on the property, care for all of their guests, give SO much back to the community and have created a loving welcoming space on the beach that offered us sunset swims, fresh clean air, the beauty of natural surroundings, opportunities for a multitude of excursions or to just sit and enjoy the property in a variety of spaces designed for meditation, yoga or just a gathering of people who enjoy each other's company. This place truly is a hidden treasure!

Yelp
The place is beautiful , not to tell about the view and the comfy rooms , it needs a little more variety in the buffet, the people are friendly , prices are fare, in general there are close to five star
