Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort

It’s a beautiful hotel, we got upgraded to a bigger room without knowing. The rooms are new (2 weeks) and very very nice! However there’s a feeling some things are not yet on top - service wise. Like we asked for extra towels and didn’t get them. The cleaning left a dirty glass in the room. Food at the restaurant took more then an hour to get… And for small kids (3.5) as of now there is nothing for them to do… (There’s a heated pool) plus to get to our room you need to open 7 doors. So if you’re coming with a stroller ask to be at the main building. Other than that Lee the consiarge was absolutely amazing!!! Could be the nicest guy we ever met!! He was so helpful and friendly. Also cocktails were great!

We had lunch for 4 in the Dining Room. The room is much improved from the last time I was there. We were courteously shown to our table and provided with menus. Service was good as was the food, however there were some teething issues which were taken care of. All in all a lovely day out although there were a few issues.

We had the pleasure of staying back in August for my partners birthday. Everything was perfect throughout our stay. Lee on the front desk was kind and welcoming. Alan had very kindly organised some extras for our room and my partner felt thoroughly spoilt.||The room was beautifully decorated and felt very homely, the entire hotel felt like a home away from home. ||The restaurant was lovely and the food was beautiful the young lady who did the table side service was fantastic and very passionate. ||Thank you to each and every person who made this trip so good and we look forward to coming back soon.

Mar Hall is truly a dream hotel nestled along the river bank with wonderful views of the Scottish countryside. What makes this hotel so dream like is the cosy inside rooms including a library with a fire place, a lounge area overlooking the grassy park near the hotel entrance, and of course, our large, stately, and well appointed room with another wonderful view overlooking the golf course. Besides the surroundings and the hotel's vibe. the service from all of the staff was over the top; specially the front desk staff. Colin knew we needed some help in our drive towards Lock Lomond and to the city of Oban, so he printed out several maps to aid us with our road trip. The manager of the hotel even went out in the rain to help us with figure out the cell phone charger connection in our car rental. All of the meals in the hotel were terrific with excellent service. We walked out to the golf course, and was sad that I didn't get a chance to play such a wonderful layout. They offered a discount for hotel guests. We drove to the nearby train station and parked our car there while se spent a day in Glasgow during our visit at Mar Hall so that we didn't have to park in the city. ||I left the hotel wishing I could bring my family and friends to celebrate my 85th birthday there in 2027. I have visited Mar Hall many times over the years both as a staying guest and for aftetnoon tea. This was my first time back since it had been refurbished and wow what a difference. The great hall, now the gallery, has been refurbished without losing the grandeur. Everything has been replaced to ensure quality and comfort. We took afternoon tea and the difference is amazing. Gone are the wally cups and plates replaced by beautiful china. The food selection particulatly the pastries is excellent. All in all the afternoon tea has been upgraded to what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Delighted to say that the service from the lovely welcoming staff is still the same.

Had lunch today in the Gallery. The Gallery now looks amazing, very comfortable and the staff were lovely.|My downside would be the Gluten free menu, the waitress said she had a separate GF menu which was good to hear but when it came it was just the usual menu with gluten free written in pen and all the dishes that weren’t GF scored out and to be honest not much choice as the steak pie was out of stock. I had a burger without the bun and chips, it was ok but could be much better. |Had a nice afternoon it the food was disappointing.

Took my husband here for his birthday, absolutely amazing! Staff are so welcoming and friendly! A young man who showed us to the room brought champagne to the room after he found out it was my husbands birthday which was such a nice gesture. Food is incredible definitely 5*. Ambience and grounds surrounding the hotel are gorgeous. Really beautifully refurbished hotel, spotless and gorgeous decor. Spa was 10/10 we enjoyed some lovely massages and the outdoor hot tub was great. Will definitely be back.

After 36 years it was time to make it official and get married and there was one destination that had to feature in the Honeymoon, our favorite hotel anywhere! We have been visiting for 20 years after a chance discovery and have spent most significant celebrations here and always enjoyed! We were aware of the recent planned renovations and keen to see how these would impact on the environment and this was the perfect chance to revisit! So as we left our first stop in the Lakes to move onto Scotland there was some trepidation in to what we would find in the revitalised Mar Hall. On arrival in the beautiful Autumn sunshine the place looked great on the drive towards it and a real feeling of being glad to be back again! In reception we were greeted by the most charming lady who immediately made us feel at home (sorry with age I have forgotten her name!) and she showed us around and talked through where things would be for meals and wine and then onto our room! The room was amazing and a duplex suite which was spectacular with a comfortable living area, office area and television upstairs and the bedroom and bathroom down! All luxuriously furnished and decorated and with all of the home comforts you could need and views of the blue sky and Clyde and hills beyond! For dinner each night we dined in the Dining Room where the team were welcoming and looked after us perfectly - nothing stuffy just nice, friendly people doing a good job! We selected a window table on the first visit which by the end of the week had become our table - I am expecting an engraved plaque on it at our next visit! The team you don't see in the kitchens are remarkable, every meal we had was expertly executed, lovely starters, great selection of sea and field mains, perfect and different sides and spectacular desserts! Everything perfect and all washed down with a brilliant bar, cocktails and wine were all tested and delicious! Breakfasts were some of the best selections anywhere and the joy of sitting our in the terrace each morning after breakfast with a coffee was a bonus! We had the most perfect stay helped very much by the team at Mar Hall, we had no need to worry - it's in good hands and cannot wait to return!
