We came to visit the Maasai Mara and stay at the Mara Intrepids, thanks to bookings from Voyageurs du Monde. The camp is ideally situated, even close to the airfield. Besides perfect location, the tents were great, service impeccable, professional and amicable. The safaris with Dennis were just perfect, we saw and learnt so much, even got lucky to see a Leopard on the last hour of the last day! Restauration was great, cheerful with great attention to detail. We highly recommend staying more than the usual 2 nights, really worth it for the full experience!

Our recent stay at Mara Intrepids camp exceeded our expectations. The tent was lovely and spacious with a large shower. The restaurant area was open air under a thatched roof and was absolutely beautiful. The meals were spectacular. Add in the amazing safari tours and you have the perfect vacation.

Mara Intrepids was beautiful and comfortable, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and our luggage was promptly taken to our room. The food was outstanding, and the entertainment was equally impressive. I highly recommend Mara Intrepids!

Our tent was situated next to the river, where just before dawn, we were able to listen to an elephant splashing around in the river below. By the time the sun had risen, all that remained of the elephant were his footprints in the sand bank below. We love this camp; it is situated in an area for prime game viewing, the accommodations and food are lovely and the staff are all friendly and very helpful. A special shoutout to Gregory, (Manager), Ezekial (Driver/Guide), Joshua (Waiter), Ken (Bartender), Samwell (Room Steward) and Dinah. We are already planning on our next trip to Mara Intrepids.

Nothing but extraordinary are the words to describe our trip to Mara Intrepids.||The location is excellent, on our very first game drive we found elephants and lions 200m from the gate.||We also had the chance to have Samson and Debbie as our guides. Samson really knows the animals, their body language, their places of preference, we learned a lot about animals from Samson and Debbie which is always smiling made our game drives very pleasant.||Be sure to wake up early to see the animals in activity.||The food was good, the service was great, you eat with monkeys right on the side of the river, you can also sometimes see hippos.||Great experience overall.

Enjoyed a four night stay here with my younger brother, both middle aged comfort seekers. Had an absolutely fantastic stay. The staff are excellent, well spoken and friendly with a determination to make our stay an enjoyable experience. Our daily safaris were a thrill and our guide worked extremely hard to ensure we saw as much as possible. The accommodation is very well managed and serviced brilliantly but most of all comfortable and very secure. The grounds the resort are located on are beautifully maintained and the setting is lush and tranquil bordered by a beautiful river complete with its family of hippos. I would highly recommend Mara Intrepid to anyone.

Samson was very polite and provided us with valuable insights during our game drives. Shilla and Joshua understood my meal preferences perfectly. John, my housekeeper, was kind and extremely helpful. The camp is clean, well-lit at night, and peaceful, with only the sounds of the river in the background. The Masai dances and music at dinner were spectacular.

“A Dream Stay That Turned Into a Terrifying Nightmare Because of Raphael” My boyfriend and I stayed at Intrepids Masai Mara from October 12th to 14th, and at first, everything was magical. The hotel itself was wonderful — the nature, the atmosphere, the game drives with Silas and trainee Winnie — all were unforgettable. We left the Mara feeling grateful and full of joy. But everything changed because of one man — Raphael, who was introduced to us by the hotel as the person in charge of arranging transfers and activities. We trusted him to organize our transfer from Masai Mara → Lake Nakuru → Amboseli → Tsavo Salt Lick. What happened next destroyed our trip and left us deeply traumatized. The car Raphael provided was in awful condition — old, unstable, and clearly unsafe. On the road from Nakuru to Amboseli, before the horrific crash, one of the tires went flat. It was the first sign that something was wrong. We should have seen it as a warning, but we couldn’t imagine what was about to happen. A few hours later, while driving near Nairobi, the brakes failed completely. The driver lost control. What followed was chaos — cars crashing around us, metal crushing, people screaming. We were lucky to survive. We could have easily died that day, and all because Raphael allowed such a poorly maintained car to be used for long-distance travel. This was not fate — it was pure negligence. A tragedy waiting to happen. And as if that wasn’t enough, Raphael’s reaction afterwards was cold, dismissive, and disrespectful. Instead of showing concern or apologizing, he treated us as if nothing had happened. He only compensated us for one day (the day of the crash!) and then expected us to keep paying the new driver he found, as though we hadn’t just been through hell. Because of his recklessness, our once-dream trip to Kenya turned into trauma. Instead of recovering and enjoying the beauty of Salt Lick, we are still reliving the fear and shock of that day. The hotel itself is wonderful, and I truly hope management will take serious action. But I am writing this review to warn all future guests: if you are ever referred to Raphael for transport — do not accept. His cars are dangerously unsafe, and his behavior after the accident was inhuman. Our story could have ended in tragedy. Please, don’t let it happen to someone else.
