"In what is considered one of the earth's greatest spectacles, over a million wildebeest maketheirway from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya in search of lusher grasslands. The great migrationis a very good reason to visit the diamond in Kenya’s crown of national parks, the Masai Mara. The most dramatic scenes take placeat the river crossings, where the wildebeest slip and crash down the steep embankments of the Mara River into crocodile- and hippo-infested waters and, if they get through that, still have to gallop past the Mara’s high density of lions awaiting them on the other side. The best time to see the migration hereis between the months of July and September. Porini Lion Camp is an excellent accommodation choice, with knowledgeable guides and a responsible approach to protecting the delicate Mara ecosystem."

The best safari experience in Africa because its just the right size so you dont end up driving around for hours in search of animals. And neither is it too short that it seems like a zoo. The rangers are helpful and the drivers and guides are knowledgeable. Seems like the drivers talk to each other via radio to share information about where the animals are. There are a couple of Masaai villages right outside where you can have a look masaai culture from close quarters. You can find lots of lions cheetahs leopards other smaller cats jackals, as well as hyenas apart from elephants buffalo and the others

Feb 2025: such a special place. Links to the Serengeti in Tanzania with the great Wildebeest & Zebra migration. You can see the big 5 here and get pretty close to the animals. But follow the rules, the game rangers are strict to ensure the well being of the animals.

The Mara Triangle is a very interesting plateau of 510 sq. kilometers, about one third of Masai Mara National Reserve. This is the area where the Great Migration takes place. You will also see in normal time herds of animals - wildbeests, zebras, buffalos. antilopes, giraffes... You are guaranteed to see animals in any period of the year and this, 5 minutes after you have passed the Oloololo Gate.

Amazing experience with spectacular wildlife. Highly recommended. We were here for 2 1/2 days and saw pretty much every species with the exception of the elusive leopard and cheetah. At least this warrants an excuse to come back! There were no challenges navigating with the guide during the wet season and it was possible to avoid any showers by driving the other way.

The most amazing safari experience with &beyond camp. We were lucky and spotted all big 5 and even a lions kill aftermath

This is the place for you if you want to have a meet up with nature. My only advice is to go there early before the carnivores go to rest. And don't use the main road if you want to meet any of the wild animals. But most importantly, CARRY YOUR OWN FOOD! Carry with you some snacks otherwise you'll starve. Serena is 50 kilometers away- 1 hour plus drive away. And food there is waaay expensive unless you are paying using $$$. We were told they have a canteen but to be safe, carry with you some snacks or your own food. You'll see every other animal btw. I saw buffalos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, ostriches, etc.

A must do in life and a definite bucket list activity. So different to any park in South Africa. The openness and vastness is breathtaking and beautiful.

Much better than the Masai Mara National Reserve. This area is home to the same (if not more) incredible landscape and wildlife, but with better roads, stricter management, and overall a much more pleasant wildlife viewing experience. You are far less likely to find unethical and selfish drivers like you do in the main reserve, and wildlife sightings such as lions are carefully monitored by rangers for the animal’s protection to ensure ethical game viewing. Passing in and out of the reserve is also easy from the triangle, even though there is hardly any reason to do so.
