Growing up watching legends play at Maracanã, visiting this iconic stadium was a dream come true. The atmosphere is electric, and being in a place filled with so much football history is unforgettable. The tour is well-organized, giving great insight into Brazil’s deep passion for the sport. Walking through the tunnel and standing pitch-side gave me chills. If you love football, Maracanã is a must-visit. Truly one of the world’s great stadiums!

Google
What an intense and fun experience! It's open seating so if you want center, be there early. The street vendors were great for grabbing snacks and drinks before the game. The prices for beer were decent inside as well. Get ready to stand as these fans are passionate and fun. It may be easier to go to a ticket office in town than try the app. About 8 outta 12 of us could get scanned successfully for our facial recognition ticket on our phone.

Google
Immersive experience, this place is oozing passion and history. The tour is interesting and not too long so it keeps the attention of the younger kids too. You can buy additional activities such as goal kicks, holding up team flag at the stadium and have a picture with a trophy. The kick is worth it, the picture with the flag seems unnecessary, as you can just take a photo yourself that is almost as good. Everyone is friendly. The wait for the goal kick is a littlebit longer than it should be.

A must for every football fan. The tour organization is not the best compared to other stadiums guided tours in South America like El Monumental and La Bombonera. The extra tours do not worth it unless you are a big fan of any of the teams. On regard extra activities the Pele's museum is the only that worth it, but quite expensive and should be included on stadium tour.

Very good experience. I attended a fluminense match in the hospitality section, I bough the ticket for 290R with the resellers and everything went very well. You don’t need facial register in hospitality but if you go to the public sections you have to register with your camera and physical passport and that’s a problem if you don’t have it with you in that moment.

Google
Arrived as part of a tour group. They made the experience easy with a full buffet. Drinks and desserts are extra, but the quality of food was good, the place was clean and the staff was friendly.

Google
A must visit for sports fans. There is a walk around some memorabilia of Brazilian great football players and visiting a changing room, before walking down the tunnel and visiting the actual pitch to be able to take some photos.

We were glad to experience a piece of soccer history. Very short but nice tour with access to the benches and an opportunity [for a small fee] to score a penalty kick on the side of the pitch.

Yelp
This is a soccer temple to Brazilians and to many soccer fans across the planet. Too many iconic players and games have been play here. Too many legendary guest have visited. You'll learn about them all on a stadium tour! The tour is about an hour and semi self guided. You'll find guides throught the tour ready to answer questions in Portuguese, Spanish, or English. Credit cards or cash is accepted for payment. Restrooms are available towards the end. You're free to linger during the tour but you can't go backwards. Uber is available to take you here but the designated pick up point is a fair walk south of the stadium.

Yelp
This is something you should stop and see in Brazil. The soccer stadium. Soccer is huge in Brazil. The stadium was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA World Cup. Attendance of 173,850 spectators was at that game. The venue has seen attendances of 150,000 or more on 26 occasions and has seen crowds of more than 100,000 284 times. That's nuts.

Yelp
I am not a huge fan of soccer, but I could definitely feel and see the passion of soccer in Rio. I can imagine the crowds and loud chants reverberating from the stands here, after all it did host 2 world cups here.

Yelp
The mecca of football. Make sure you have your tickets sorted. So for me, the maracana, wembley and old trafford are as big as it gets for football. I went to my first ever football match here. Santos vs Flamengo. It was amazing. Fans were singing all 90 minutes Downside was that the staff were quite rude. My mum and I bought tickets through the hotel and were told that we could sit anywhere. This seamed weird to us, but hey we didn't know, we had never been. This guy comes up to us and says we're in his seats, of course he didn't speak English and at the time(before my Linguistics degree), I spoke basic Portuguese. So after being threatened to have the cops called on us, we eventually got it sorted. Make sure you have your tickets sorted.

Yelp
Great venue! Amazing time watching Flamengo play in the Copa do Brasíl semi finals against Gremio.

Yelp
While we didn't get to see the inside of the facilities, it was included on our private tour of Rio. The complex includes a main football (soccer) stadium, opened in 1950 that seats 78,838 people, an arena and swimming pools. Besides holding FIFA events and concerts, it also was home to the 2016 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. A running track on the perimeter of the property is a popular place for joggers and bicyclists. OVERALL: A drive-by of the place would been good enough to satisfy most folks.

Yelp
Overwhelmingly large but a beautiful space. Lots of vendors nearby to get little olympic trinkets. Enjoyed learning about all the hurdles Rio overcame to host the Olympics. I'd recommend going with a tour guide.

Yelp
We came here during the World Cup and had a great experience. The staff & police on the way in were amazing, making the way in & out very easy. I was incredibly impressed - compared to trying to get in & out of a busy venue in England this was amazing! The food & drinks were reasonably priced, and it was nice to be able to take booze to the seats. The crowd control was brilliant during the match (particularly during some difficult moments!). All in all a very impressive venue.

Yelp
I'm lucky to say that my first soccer game was at this amazing stadium for the World Cup! We took the Metro directly to the stadium which is so nice since I was a little concerned about safety. There was a constant mob of fans, but you moved pretty quickly from the train to your respective gate. Two out of three games, we were in section A and didn't have to walk to far to get to the security check point. My only recommendation for this section would be to put up some barricades to help navigate people to the correct line. There were a few outbreaks with people being in the wrong line and then trying to cut on front of others. Once you got through security, you head to your gate. There are beer carts selling Budweiser or Brahmina (spelling?) for $13-10 reals depending on your choice. You could also get coke products for about $8 reals and a hot dog, cheeseburger or other snacks before you went to your seat. I had the double hot dog and was sooooo good!!!!! Get one!!!! As far as the experience while watching the game, I cannot put it into words. It was unbelievable!!!! There is an electric current of energy through the stadium, no matter what team you are representing. If you are in Brazil, you have to grab a game here, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
One of my favorite soccer stadiums that I've seen so far!! With so much history and fame, Maracanã is a must visit for anybody who loves soccer/football. Although the recently revamped stadium can "only" hosts 78,000 spectators now, I heard more than 200,000 spectators somehow managed to enter the stadium for the first World Cup final held in Rio. Watching the live game at Maracanã with passionate Botafogo fans was priceless! We got the guided soccer match ticket through our hotel for $80 with the car pick up service which was safe and convenient. As a Juve fan, I was naturally drawn to black & white Botafogo, lol! Any of the major teams like Flamengo, Vasco De Gama, Botafogo or Fluminese is worth checking out!!

Yelp
I'm impressed with this stadium. It has significantly improved due to the World Cup and now it's so convenient to walk to with the easy walkways from the metro. During game days they have extra staff to direct traffic to the bilheterias to buy your metro tickets. Entrances were clearly marked, so if you were familiar with the stadium layout, it was easy to find which section you should enter. The lines were well organized and the body pat downs )to check for weapons) were adequately staffed with female officers as well. The turnstiles had ticket takers to verify you were in the right section. It was very exciting to see the energy of the crowd with the bands of drummers and flag bearers for each team. There was parking available for those who drove. And all in all, the foot traffic and car traffic seemed to be well managed. As with highly charge rival soccer games, enthusiastic fans can get out of hand. The security guards were prompt to quell any arguments and showed force with batons and beautiful German Shepard trained dogs. Section leaders made sure people were in the sections they paid for and that no people standing by the railings were blocking other people's views of the game. There were clean bathrooms with no lines and all the amenities. There was also plenty of refreshment stands offering drinks and snacks. There were also vendors of drinks and Popsicles that would circulate and hawk their wares. Four bright screens showed the the field at different angles, focusing on important plays, announcing the substitutions and the scoring players. However I do wish they would show the timer, so you know just how close the game is to halftime or if there's overtime. Seats were simple stadium flip up seats of plastic which were easy to clean and wouldn't collect rain. They were decently comfortable. I especially appreciated that most of the seats were covered and protected from the rain. Only some seats that were close to the sides were exposed to the weather. It was colorfully lit by the home teams colors and will definitely serve well in the Olympics games. I also look forward to catching a music event in this stadium.

Yelp
Our hotel had a flyer at the front counter for some futebol (soccer) tickets at the legendary Maracana stadium. We thought the B$180 was a bit pricey but we were in Brazil and wanted to enjoy a match, Plus it included free transportation to and from our hotel so we book the rental from the front desk of our hotel. The tour group is name RioLine Turismo. We wait in the lobby at the specified time and we get a bit worried as they're late. We hope they didn't forget about us but they finally get there and we're on our way and they give us a mini tour on our way to the stadium. Her English is a bit rough so it was sort of difficult to understand her. As we get to the stadium, we're really impressed with the grounds. It's a gorgeous stadium. Once inside I find out we're in the VIP area and right near the middle line of the soccer field. There's free food & non-alcoholic drinks for us. The food wasn't amazing, but pretty decent little snack bites. These tickets are B$160 for face value. We basically paid B$20 for a ride to the stadium and back which is a steal. If you get a chance go to a match at the Maracana. It's an amazing venue and really fun to watch the local groups really get into the match. Next time I hope I can get tickets to see Flamengo.

Yelp
We came here for the opening Olympic ceremony. Firstly, my comparisons are all based on American stadiums. If you've not been to a multi-billion US mega-stadium, then add one extra star :) First, let's talk about the view and the seating, there's really not many bad seats to be had here, especially since the moved from benches. We were able to see everything clear across in every corner with no difficulty. Getting in and out of the stadium was extremely well choreographed. Clear lines in, out and around got all 75,000 people out of there in a hurry. Were Maracana gets dinged a star is in its ability to handle concessions. Exceptionally long lines for everything from cerveja, pop-corn, soda, and water (which they ran out of?). There were too few stands, too few staff (maybe an Olympics problem).

Yelp
Maracana is considered to be a mecca to soccer( football ) fans around the world. I have been here a few times during a Flamengo football home game against long time rival Fluminense and 2016 Olympic opening ceremony . Was once the largest stadium in the world at 200k capacity now reduced capacity to 75k. This venue hosted two world cups , one Copa America events, concerts and many local football games . There are the home the Brazilian national team and Flamengo and Fluminense Brazilian football clubs. Comparing to stadiums to other countries its pretty impressive. There isn't a bad seat in the house.Access crowd control entering and exiting amount of restrooms are excellent. Concessions are limited but very inexpensive to the stadiums in the united states. Overall great football stadium that is at least over 50 years old still a great place to catch a game or concert in Rio de Janeiro !!!

Yelp
Incredible experience! Have seen two world cup games here so far and the single best sports experience in the world I would venture. The fans here are boisterous and the atmosphere is electric. The sound of the chants echoing from the rafters onto the field cannot be spoken about; only experience. Stop by here for a game if in town; you will SIMPLY not regret it!

Sheila K.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday to watch Fluminense x Sport. If you want to sit on the crowded arquibancadas tickets will run you ~R$40 but we sat on the side in the yellow chairs and paid R$60 to get a better view of the match. The stadium is beautiful and the chants of the crowd during the match will get any person invested in the game. There are plenty of concessions but plan to bring cash as there's only 2 cashiers that take cards. You can also buy food from one of the traveling vendors around the stadium. A lot of people do this trip with a guided van tour as the maracana is pretty far. However, we decided to take a taxi and it cost around ~R$40 from Copacabana. I would definitely recommend just taking a cab as it's pretty easy unless you're planning on attending a "classico" (ex. FLUxFLA) as those games fill up.
