Google
Great experience with Casey. She helped me find a new pair of running shoes after the styled I wore for years stopped being made. She asked a bunch of questions and then guessed the perfect shoe on her first try. The store offers a generous 30 day return/exchange policy. Really happy I stopped by.

Google
I recently needed to find a place that could provide a truly personalized experience with finding the right shoes for someone with a number of challenges. Well, Marathon Sports exceeded expectations!! Specifically, Annie was an incredibly patient, helpful, and knowledgeable sales person. She had a terrific way of engaging with the customer, as if she could manage anything thrown her way. Grateful to have this kind of personalized service that I’d begun to think was a thing of the past…

Google
Annie! Thank you sooo much for your help & kindness throughout my shopping experience at this location. I felt at though we were friends with how thoughtful Annie was while helping me find a good fit. She was patient & did everything with care. I have been to another location in Boston & I will always choose this location because of Annie & how well she took care of me. Thank you again!

Ann

Google
One of the best experiences I've had in a retail shop. Anika was fabulous. She carefully listened to what I was looking for, made excellent recommendations and was professional and personable the whole time. I was so impressed and would recommend this store to anyone looking to find the right shoe for their unique feet.

Melissa E

Google
Awesome experience! Marni is your girl!!! She really knew the inventory and was so so knowledgeable. She was also super attentive and patient. She let me take my time and find the best shoe that works for me!! The foot scanner is so cool too. Ive gone to a lot of shoe fitting places like this and Ive never had as good as an experience as I did here. Thank you Marni!!! Youre awesome!! Also plenty of parking near by this location which is so great.

Google
John was very insightful in helping me decide on a pair of running shoes. He was patient and analyzed my feet before suggesting shoes. I like how I wasn’t pressured into making a decision and was able to go for a quick jog to test several pairs of shoes.

Google
Ok I love shopping BRICK & MORTER & this store is the reason ....... Nora welcomed us with a big smile and REMEMBERED us for 6 months ago! The whole staff is super friendly and any are great but Nora knows her product. My niece tried on different sneakers to prove she still loves HOKA's and Nora totally made all the choices and suggestions..... my husband did the same and we left with two pairs. CHEAPER then on line and amazing customer service.

Google
Annie was wonderful!!!! The level of detail I experienced was so unexpected. Came in late afternoon to get a pair of beginner friendly running shoes and she went above and beyond to make sure I got what I wanted. The foot scanner was also super cool.

Thomas P.

Yelp
John was awesome. He measured my feet and examined my feet also made me walk to check more!!

Rachel F.

Yelp
I have never seen such fastidious attention to detail in helping a customer. Marnie is a rock star and really knows every pair of shoes in the store. She considered every aspect of my daughter's needs in helping her pick a new pair of running shoes to help her heal from an injury and prepare for the Marathon.

Olivia C.

Yelp
Fairly good selection and helpful to get you fitted to shoes. When I was checking out the woman at the registered, not sure if she was the manager was extremely rude. I forgot to ask if I could apply my healthcare discount before buying the shoes and asked if it would be too late to still apply it. The manager gave me extreme attitude and basically scolded me like a child for a solid few minutes. I was completely shook and I think the woman who helped me find the shoes was also frazzled. Very disappointed because it seemed like a cool place other than that.

Emily D.

Yelp
I found the service here awful. The checkout person wouldn't make eye contact, was quick and dismissive and now I will not be interested in purchasing from this location.

Eliza R.

Yelp
I stopped by to purchase a new pair of shoes. There were 3 customers ahead of me being helped by staff. I briefly browsed, located the shoes I wanted to try on and waited my turn. And waited. And waited. After 15 minutes of not being acknowledged, not even a hello, a nod, nothing from any employee -- I left. The employees acted as if I wasn't even there, and it's a small location, so not as if I wasn't seen. I understand others were being waited on, however, an acknowledgement or a "we'll be with you shortly", I would have stayed. Truly disappointed, as I've always had pleasurable experiences at their Wellesley and Shrewsbury locations. I won't be back.

Ellen E.

Yelp
I have hard to fit feet, and although I've always had good experiences at this store, today was the best. Anna was extremely helpful and patient, and her brand knowledge made finding the best pair of shoes quick and easy. I will definitely be back!

Isabella R.

Yelp
Everyone here is lovely, fun, and so helpful! Someday I hope to be as cool as the employees here but until then I know I have a place to get some great gear and local running recs :)

Nino M.

Yelp
Super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Blair helped me pick out a pair of shoes and I really enjoyed my experience in the store. Only thing is they are cash only at the moment, so make sure to bring enough cash to cover your purchase

Chasey R.

Yelp
I am so happy I waited to buy my jacket from 2021 Boston marathon. It was cheaper three weeks later. It was on my to buy list for that weekend. I couldn't find the unicorn I wanted so I got the right on left on one. Can't wait till April.

Alan C.

Yelp
I don't know what is wrong with this place. I returned (fully authorized) and replaced with the same sneakers of different size and never got a refund on the first pair. I just happened to look at my credit card statement and saw the double charge/no refund. I contacted them and they gave me some gobbledygook reason ("The sneakers you wanted are out of stock in that size" - huh?) and asked if I wanted another pair. Of course not - and they promised a refund. Still waiting. I had to open a dispute with my credit card. Both sneakers were new and shipping was on time. I don't get it.

Liza B.

Yelp
Marathon Sports used to be where you could go for an expert fitting and intelligent advice, and especially for great service--they stood by their products. No longer! For the first time in over 2 decades, I had a sneaker pull apart at the seams after less than a year of very easy use. Not the 2-3 years I was used to, but turned out to be tough luck for me. Then I bought socks that I tried to exchange for a different style, unopened and unused. It was 35 days after purchase, and they have a 30 day return policy (this, too, was new to me). Word to the wise: if you DO shop there, don't take the "no receipt" option. Despite entering your name in their system, turns out they're not very good at keeping your records. I even swore to get a less expensive sock in exchange, but no. #SoDone with @MarathonSports

Rose A.

Yelp
New balance and Altras both resulted in injury when I tried to slowly get back in shape after having twins last year. I came to Marathon Sports asking for help to find shoes that would be the right support for my arches and not result in more immobilizing aches and pains. Even though I had to bring my babies with me, I was treated so well! They assessed my foot shape, my gait, listened to my story, took in my doctors recommendations, and let me try out three different shoes and two pairs of orthotics before we found something that felt really nice. I'm on the run again for the first time in a month and have no pain! I'm so glad I never have to go through the frustrating process of trying to guess what shoes are best for me again. I will always come to Marathon Sports.

Lynn J.

Yelp
I love marathon sports... The supply, the staff, and the vibe are all super! The deal: marathon sports is your sporting goods destination to get fitted for the perfect running shoes for your individual feet!

Nicole B.

Yelp
Really helpful staff who know their stuff if you're looking for assistance in picking out shoes specifically for your body/exercise type. They "diagnose" your gait and take the time to adequately measure both your feet before providing suggestions and watching how you move in each shoe you try on. Despite being a relatively small outpost, they have a wide selection of shoes, some good apparel, insoles and other accessories and more. Prices are comparable to online, so I prefer to keep my money local.

Clare S.

Yelp
I was so impressed with my experience at the store. I came in knowing absolutely nothing about running shoes and they were very patient and knowledgeable. I know I got a great pair of shoes that were exactly what I was looking for (without even knowing it!). A bit pricey, but I think that's how all high quality shoes are going to be - definitely worth it!! For experienced and novice runners alike, I'd definitely recommend stopping by!

E R.

Yelp
I went here for the first time, having avoided them because they are pricey. I have hard feet to fit. The salesperson spent two hours with me trying on numerous shoes. They had to have a pair sent to me from another store. These were no good, but when I went to return them a different salesperson offered to try again with his recommendations. Sure enough, we found a pair that seem to fit. They really know their stuff.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
I visited Marathon Sports today for new running shoes. The staff took a lot of time with me, figuring out which shoes would be best for my over-pronating feet. I ultimately ended up with the newer version of my old shoes, but the salesman was willing to keep bringing out different pairs for me to try. I will continue to purchase running shoes here, and will have my husband get fitted too.

Mee G.

Yelp
Been going there for years. Excellent shoes and excellent staff too- very knowledgeable friendly and extra helpful!

Nii T.

Yelp
Love this store for the friendly, knowledgeable staff and GREAT prices! You just can't go wrong here. I left having spent more than I budgeted and I am SOOOOO happy about the quality of what I got and the fact that the staff wants the BEST for you and KNOW the different brands very well!

Johnna M.

Yelp
I had shin splints. (Bear with me, I enjoy complaining about this opportunity at every chance I get because it strikes me as a total first world problem). After investigating with my healthier than thou, marathon running friends as to why this would suddenly be a problem they suggested A) My sneakers were probably worn and B) I need to replace them at Marathon Sports AND NOWHERE ELSE. What a great piece of advice! Folks here are knowledgeable and friendly. Along with shin splints I am also prone to stress fractures in my ankle (such an old lady) and my girl helped me find the perfect pair of sneakers. I walked around the store and learned my knees curb in so I need more support (Forever awkward) and I was wearing my sneakers too small. Then I got to try on three pairs of shoes just right for me and run around with them down Beacon Street. I was instantly drawn to the Brooks Adrenaline 11 and it's been like running on a cloud since. For a reasonable amount of money I left here with my new shoes, socks, and information about several upcoming races. I was so excited to get back out there I almost ran home. This is one cheesy review-the positive attitude at Marathon Sports will do that to you.

Susie A.

Yelp
I just don't understand why you would go to a Foot Locker or something like that when you could go to Marathon Sports. The sneakers are exactly the same price, but the employees actually know what they're talking about and take the time to listen to you and help you. I was having some serious foot issues after running a lot and I was convinced it was because I was wearing the wrong sneakers. When I went to Marathon Sports, the girl asked me to walk up and down the store for a bit while she watched. Then she brought me a few options. I tried a few on and she made me go outside and run up and down Beacon St. while she watched. I found a pair I thought I liked, but then she brought me one last pair that was even better! It was also a lot cheaper....she totally could have sold me the more expensive pair, but she knew the less expensive pair would be better for me and brought them up. They really want you to have the perfect pair of sneakers. I've had the sneakers for several months now and no longer have any foot problems. I LOVE them! Also, you have 30 days to wear them around (as long as you keep them clean) and if you decide they're not right for you, you can exchange them. I'll definitely be back to Marathon Sports. I might check out the one on Boylston because I kind of want to run on the treadmill...but then again, I have my perfect sneakers so knowing me I'll just buy them for the rest of my life!

Julianne M.

Yelp
I'm not much of a runner, but I'm training for this thing called a marathon. I came here for a pair of shoes and they told me I over-pronate and gave me shoes that were right for my foot and explained why. They are very good at making sure you are not overwhelmed and make sure that you're not choosing from several pairs of shoes at the same time. They'll take a way a pair or two before bringing new ones out. They have clothes (cotten is rotten!), gels, body glide, the stick, water bottle holder butt thingys (sorry, I don't know the correct term), just about everything. Sometimes there are alot of people in the store, so try to come when there aren't alot of people around so you can get personalized attention. The staff is so positive and so informative - once I break 350 miles in my shoes, I'll be coming back here for a new pair.

Kim K.

Yelp
I'm a logical person. I don't just walk into a store and drop over $100 on something. I rationalize the purchase for weeks, snipe deals online to get things cheaper, contemplate how badly I need said item. Not the case here. I am a runner, do 5Ks often, and am training for a 10K. I had been meaning to get fitted for running sneaks for so long. I read the reviews here and knew I needed to go NOW. The customer service is awesome. It's like you have your own personal shopper to help you. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. They ask you a few questions, watch you walk, and then get a pair they think will work. You strap the sneaks on and they watch you jog in them outside (or on their treadmill when it's raining out). They ask you more questions about fit and feel and if the first pair works they bring you out a few more similar pairs. I learned a ton about what size proper running sneakers should be (bigger than your normal size as your feet swell during running) and how they should feel (like nothing). I got personalized advice and thusly dropped $110 on a gorgeous new pair of Saucony's that fit like a dream that I would never have been able to pick out for myself.

Kelsey S.

Yelp
I am planning on running a half marathon in May. I know that your running shoe is the most important thing when training so I figured I should make a trip to Marathon. I've heard great things about them. They analyze the way you walk/run, and find the perfect shoe for you. Well they did just that. I forget the guy's name that helped me, but when I went this past Saturday he was super helpful. I told him what I was training for and he had me walk across the store. He then brought me out one pair of Brooks. Had me go outside and run while he watched. Once he saw me run he brought out 2 more pairs. I ran with all 3 and narrowed down to the one that felt best. I ended up with the first shoe he brought out - so guess he knew what he was talking about! He also told me to make sure to try them out over the next few weeks and if they ended up not feeling right to bring them back. I love marathon sports! Will definitley be back for some more runnning gear/ shoes when I need them!

Courtney B.

Yelp
Very knowledgeable staff who are eager to help you find the perfect shoe or gear needed to provide you with the best running/workout experience.

Keelin C.

Yelp
I have had many shoes picked out by "professionals" or "experts", but to this point I've never had more comfortable running shoes then I do today. This is all thanks to the people at Marathon Sports. They are all athletes (not all runners, which is refreshing) and they know how to make everyone comfortable. They have you run, watch you walk (all pretty standard), but go above and beyond by simply taking the time with each customer; no matter if you are 9 or 90, elite or just looking for some comfy shoes. They also carry gear that I have only been able to find on the internet (huge plus). This store knows it's customer and does an excellent job catering to us! Tip: Make sure to ask for the student discount :)

Sang K.

Yelp
I feel like I have different type of feet than most people. I have a wide foot. Normal shoes don't fit me properly and I had difficult time finding the right types of shoes in the normal stores like Olympia, or Foot Locker. I don't love running yet, but I know it will be much better with the right type of shoe! I said to myself, I would rather pay up the few dollars more for a better shoe than to mess up my body and it will take more money just to treat all the pain. Prevention is much better than a cure. This place gets it right for me. I have a wide foot! 4E. I guess thats wide. But the funny thing is, I came here to spend more money and I ended up saving about $5-10. I spent $80 on really nice pair of running shoes. I was ready to spend $115 for a decent pair. That's actually how much I spent the last time I was there almost 2 years ago! Wow... I cant believe its been that long. Look. They look at how you walk. Give you attention. Let you run in the shoes. Give you feedback. Let you take the shoes home. I was told I had 30 days to change my mind. I will either get store credit to exchange or credit back on my credit card, which I used to buy. There is little risk in coming here to buy the "RIGHT" shoes for YOU!

Momma D.

Yelp
I went in this morning to buy a new pair of Brooks. The young woman working at the store is a 5 star customer service professional. I will keep this one short. She was welcoming, patient, highly knowledgeable about the products and provided great advice. She watched me run up Beacon Street and she also assessed the wear points on my current shoes so that she could pair the right shoe to my stride and strike. Then I got to test run several different brands to find the right match for me. Low and behold we found the perfect shoe for me. I didn't even look at (nor did I care about) the price because I was convinced that I left with the right product. Not because she sold me anything but because of the process we went through. Customer for life now.

Laura F.

Yelp
They gave me 10% off because I was referred here by my foot doctor. Plus they find the right shoe for your based on your stride, yes you run down the street for them!

Bret C.

Yelp
Everyone in here knows their stuff. Hands down. It's almost scary how great these guys are at their jobs! They will take a look at how you walk/run and take the time to give you personal service and guide you through every step of finding the right running shoe. When it's time to try them on, they ENCOURAGE you to go outside and run on the street with them! I was shocked. Keep in mind you might pay a few bucks more for a pair of running shoes here than you would online, but you're guaranteed a great fit and outstanding service at this shop. Marathon Sports is a dream retailer.

Casie G.

Yelp
After running a half marathon my knee really started to bother me to the point I couldn't run. Some of my friends referred me here but I was certainly hesitant to go, thinking a pair of sneakers from this place would cost me an arm and a leg. The staff that works here is very friendly and like most of the reviews have already said, they have you walk and run to figure out what type of shoes will suit you best. The girl working had me explain my issue, run on the treadmill and once she picked out a few pairs of sneakers she had me run outside with them on. The sneakers really weren't anymore expensive than a normal sporting goods store and I had a coupon which made it even better. The sneakers definitely made an impact on my knee and now I know what to look for in a pair of kicks.

Dorothy N.

Yelp
I have always had sneaker-anxiety. How do I know if I should buy running shoes, cross trainers, or walking shoes? All I want is a good pair of shoes so that I can run, jump on the elliptical, walk along the reservoir, or take a step class when I want. Don't let the name of this store fool you. You don't have to be a serious runner and training for a Marathon to stop in, and they can answer all your questions. At first, I found the store a little intimidating. It's small, it's usually pretty crowded, and I know that the whole point is that the salespeople are supposed to help you find the perfect pair of shoes. I must admit, I have salesperson-phobia. I have been a salesperson before, yet I still run whenever one approaches me. "I'm just looking," I mumble as I run the other way. However, this is one store where the salespeople are actually helpful 100% of the time. They aren't intimidating and will let you browse if you really want to, but it's much better to have them watch you walk up and down the store, bring out a pair of shoes or two, ask you how it feels, have you run up and down the street in the pair you like the best, and sell you a great pair of shoes. Totally worth it! And, 10% off if you have Harvard-Pilgrim insurance.

Jen L.

Yelp
I am really disappointed with my experiences at Marathon Sports in Brookline. Very awful and disrespectful customer service multiple times. I don't normally write Yelp reviews, but after my most recent visit, I felt that it was finally necessary to write one. When I entered the store, it was not a very busy day. There were 3 employees and I was the only customer at the time. A young, male employee approached me and I told him I was there to exchange shoes for a larger size and that I was also open to trying another brand if the larger size was not available or did not fit. When he brought out the larger size, he immediately took them to the register and was about to ring them into the system when I told him I wanted to try them on first. He handed them to me without saying a word. I had also brought my own inserts with me and asked if it was ok to try them on with the shoes? He said it was fine. As I tried them on, the employee stayed behind the register and continued to talk and joke around with the other employees, rather than helping me with the fitting process. When the larger size didn't fit well, and no one came to ask how the new size felt, I decided it was not worth asking to try other brands because I simply did not feel welcomed in the store environment. The employees honestly didn't seem like they wanted to help. When I approached the register and told the young, male employee that the larger size didn't fit and that I was just going to apply for store credit, he immediately responded with a condescending and judgmental tone, "why are you even wearing inserts with [stability] shoes?" and he shook his head with a pretentious look of disapproval. As a runner, I am fully aware that I over pronate and for many years have been running in mild stability shoes with inserts. Of course, I am no running professional or expert and am always seeking help or advice from other more knowledgable athletes - that is why I went to Marathon Sports in the first place because they're supposed to have better, and more personalized and trained customer service! If this employee had simply worked with me in the beginning (instead of chatting with his employees), he would have been able to ask me about my inserts earlier on and more genuinely suggest not wearing them with a stability shoe. Instead, he chose to directly criticize me without even having done his job of helping me with the fitting process. The pure lack of care, customer education, and respect at Marathon Sports (not just once, but multiple times) have deterred me from visiting again. I highly recommend Fleet Feet Sports to any one else looking for running shoes. Fleet Feet does a much better job training their employees to cater full attention to their customers throughout the entire fitting process. Their employees are trained to know the technology and features behind every shoe and they apply that knowledge to each customer's personal needs and preferences. They are much more professional and welcoming than Marathon Sports.

Angela L.

Yelp
This location is pretty small so it doesn't have a ton of stuff, but has everything you need -- clothing and shoes. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They take a look at how you walk and pick out a few pairs of sneakers that might work well with your feet. You go for a test walk/jog and see how you feel in each shoe. They really know all the shoes that you pick and it's so helpful! Definitely would recommend going to check it out if you need a new pair of sneakers -- they know their stuff!

Amy C.

Yelp
awesome service here, friendly, little to no wait. Reasonable prices, join their marathon club and get 15% off purchases. They let you go outside and run in the shoes to see how you like them. I tried a few pairs on, they're really patient and help you get the perfect fit. I'm marathon training so shoes are most important. The last time I was here (used to work in Newton) I was fitted for Brooks which are okay. I think I'm going to go back to Asics next time. They had a running club Wednesday nights I was a part of until I relocated to NH. it was a great way to keep track of progress, running 3-5 miles a week. Got to meet lots of people as well.

Ryan B.

Yelp
My better half and I visited Marathon Sports today for new running shoes for her. The staff took time figuring out which shoes would be best for her overpronating feet. She ultimately ended up with a pair of stability Saucony's and the saleswoman was very willing to bring out multiple different brands and sizes for her to try. I think I would purchase running shoes here too; it was a pleasant experience.

Suki S.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Marathon Sports on Beacon Street. I'm currently running on the Saucony Guide 2 which is an amazing running shoe. I have to thank the staff at Marathon for helping me find them. So far I've bought the Guide 2 twice in a row because they're so awesome. I especially like the hands-on approach they have...the first time I went it was a little awkward to put on running shoes on my lunch break from work, and then have someone watch me run up and down Beacon Street. However, these people really know their stuff. They figured out that I overpronate and got me the best fitting running shoes, light weight and really supportive. I usually end up spending about $95.00 but it is so worth it to have a nice fitting pair of running shoes, especially when you run six days a week, nothing worse than having foot and hip pains due to poor fitting sneakers. I used to go to the New Balance factory because it was less expensive but the sneakers never lasted long and they had zero support. All I have to say is, this is a great place they don't try to steer you toward the most expensive sneakers, they give you a lot of options and let you choose without any pressure...I will continue to go here for my running sneakers. They have all other forms of running gear as well, shorts, spandex, socks etc. however I can usually find those for cheaper at Marshall's or even City Sports if they're having a sale. Definitely check them out! you won't be disappointed. :)

Liz M.

Yelp
Small shop, good service. Convenient. Prices aren't the BEST but thats the price you pay for convenience. BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG PLUS: the fitting technique is awesome and the staff is actually helpful!

Erin M.

Yelp
I wouldn't go anywhere else in Boston to buy running sneakers. The people who work here know feet and sneakers. You'll get a shoe that fits your running style, because they actually watch you run in the shoes either on a treadmill or on the sidewalk before selling it to you. They've all run road races or things, so they know the deal and can help you purchase other products to improve your outdoor sport of choice. Very friendly, comfortable experience. Top notch service with a good selection of products, so why would you consider going anywhere else?

Dee D.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming to this store for a variety of reasons. The people that work there are awesome, patient, not pushy, professional, and ask all the right questions to the customer. My salesperson was able to pinpoint a few choices of sneakers and I ultimately chose a pair of HokaOneOne shoes. I LOVE these shoes and will continue to visit this store for my next pair. I highly recommend this store.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I went here a few months ago to get my first pair of running shoes, taking my much more experienced husband with me. The true professionals here took good care of me, watched me run outside and then gave me a variety of shoes to try and we settled on a pair that felt great and met my crazy feet needs. Three to four months later I am still loving the shoes and am up to running 3-4 times a week, at least 3 miles each time. They have a great shoe selection and a decent selection of clothes for runners. I have also bought some shorts, socks and a running skirt from here as well and the staff is always attentive and friendly. The guy who sold me my shoes recognizes me every time I go in. They also took the time to explain everything to me and listen to my concerns about one of the pairs of shoes being too heavy and clunky for me. I highly recommend them for the first time shoe buyer-don't be intimidated by the name.

Jon B.

Yelp
I've been a runner for a pretty long time now, and I think I've been a dedicated Marathon Sports customer for almost as long. I got a pair of shoes here on recommendation from a friend when I was training for my first half marathon, and I haven't been anywhere else since! Not only does the staff really know their stuff about running (they're all serious runners themselves), they check every detail in your stride and pick out the right shoe for you. I have never had an injury thanks to their help and advice, and I've now run 4 marathons and almost double that in halves! Also, they don't just try to sell you the most expensive shoe, only the right one. Definitely check this place out, I'll never buy running shoes anywhere else!

Sara F.

Yelp
Last time I went running in new shoes (18 months ago!) I got awful shin splints so wanted to go somewhere I could get properly fitted and I went to the right place. Jay was wonderful - patient and thorough he assessed my walking style and found me a few pairs of shoes to try on. He then assessed my running style (or lack thereof) in each pair and discovered it was entirely different to my walking style so found 8-10 more pairs, assessing the support of each pair as I ran on their treadmill. All the running feels a little silly but it really paid off. While I would never have picked up the shoes off the shelf based on looks alone, they are a great fit and keep the shin splints at bay so I'm super happy!

David M.

Yelp
This is my running shoe store of choice. The sales people here really know what they're talking about, but more importantly, they'll listen to you and adjust accordingly. I recently stopped in to switch from my super bulking running shoes to something a bit lighter and less controlling, I'm not going minimalist, but I do want to work on my running form. The guy (and I wish I got his name, but didn't) was great about walking me through everything from Vibram five fingers, the new brooks pure connects up to some light weight standard trainers. I went with a pair I never would have come across on my own that combined a free flowing shoe with just enough support to keep from getting injured if my form fell apart (think slight padding to the heal, but over all very flexible). It was even less expensive than some of the ones in its class. Day one on them, and its been exactly what I wanted. Now, there are a few downsides. Expect to pay a bit more, but that comes with the service. It also comes with a two week guarantee, which rocks. The other issue is it can get a bit crowded on nice days and especially during the weekend, so you'll have to browse the cool collection of running gear and gadgets and try not to walk out with a 300 dollar GPS device (I think I was five minutes away from splurging the last time). If you're starting out running, want to switch up your gear for something new, I'd swing in. And while you're there, keep an eye on the sales, cause when they cut prices they tend to cut them deep.

Yelp
For customer service. It doesn't seem fair because every other salesperson seemed to be helpful and to care, but not mine. Short blonde hair guy whose name I didn't get because I was so flustered has caused me never to return. Note: I just decided to give them 2 stars instead of 1 because they still have a student discount. I used it ten yrs ago as a high schooler, and now that I'm a student again, it was fun to again get 10% off.

Yelp
Just wanted to add, we went back last weekend for a new pair of sneakers for my husband and his old sneaker had been discontinued. They quickly came up with a substitute and it works perfectly. While someone was helping my husband another staff person was sorting through socks and water bottles with me. They really do know their stuff. :-) Especially if you're starting running, this is the place to go. They take the time to make sure you've got everything right.

Yelp
I've been a customer of Marathon Sports for the past three years and have been always left satisfied. When I first started running, I chose my shoes based on what I thought I needed and it worked for a while. When my runs exceeded 10 miles, it became obvious that I needed help from people who knew what they were talking about. I've been happy in the shoes they helped me pick out ever since. Their 14 day guarantee ensures that the shoe they help you choose is actually the right one for you.

Yelp
Marathon Sports is really awesome. Not only do the staff find the best shoes for your feet, they let you take a jog outside to see which ones feel the best. I also felt less guilty about buying pricey running shoes after getting a 10% student discount and seeing that the price I paid was lower than on Amazon.

Yelp
I was told to go here when I decided to start running to have someone watch how I walk and make sure I get the right pair of shoes. So, I went there, and the guy was really nice who helped me and I got great shoes that have been working out really well. New to the whole running thing, there are some weird things about it. First of all, all of the shoes are wicked ugly. I guess that's good because then you get ones that really fit right since none of them are cute. Seriously. None. Many look like the inside of the Alien hive if it were white and had some neon colors. Secondly, I got my first dose of people seriously geeked out about running. You know, runners who stopped into the store not to buy anything but to talk about their running. Not that it would be bad per se, especially talking about your marathon time or whatever, but there was some serious runner ego slinging going on. Weird and mildly creepy.
