Marcello's

We had a lovely meal at Marcello’s after a string concert. We did not make a reservation, but would definitely recommend one as we got lucky being seated right away without one in the busy restaurant. Our waiter, Seth, was the best. He went above and beyond to make up for a slight delay in our dinner being served, which was very appreciated even though it was a busy night for them and we understood that. We had the shrimp pepaté and the chicken Alfredo, both of which were wonderful and got my Italian boyfriend’s seal of approval.

While visiting the area I happened upon this location and without a doubt was my best meal of the trip! The calamari was crispy and plentiful. The wine suggested was delicious as well. My main course, chicken piccata, was flavorful, moist, and just the right size with the perfect side of angel hair pasta with the perfectly prepared roasted garlic and oil. You’ll do yourself a favor by visiting here if you love Italian food!

All in all an amazing experience, our server, Patrick, is the best server my wife and I have ever had. He was super helpful, made great recommendations, and was very attentive. The food came out exactly how we wanted it to and he had us smiling and laughing the whole time. We hope Patrick is our server every time we go.

Who knew you could get such bang in Italian food in Lafayette??? Well this is it by golly. Had salmon with the like caper cream sauce and mushrooms with asparagus and of course a side of fettuccine alfredo. The mozzarella squares aren't to be missed either. Very nice cocktails too. Someone may have had a cannoli.

We ordered two glasses of prosecco and fried calamari for an appetizer. The prosecco and calamari were delivered to the table quickly. The prosecco was very nice. The food was excellent. The service was also excellent. A nice relaxing dinner at a really nice restaurant.

This is the most fine dining you can possibly do while still remaining casual! From the food to the atmosphere to the service, it was top notch. I can't put into words how great this was. My wife and I have been together for almost 16 years, and this made us feel like we were on our first date. We loved it!

The food is amazing! The wine is especially good and at an affordable price. The service is top tier as well with an amazing atmosphere. It’s definitely my new favorite restaurant highly recommend!

I very rarely Write reviews. Good or bad. The way I see it, If I have an up or down experience at a particular establishment, chances are someone else has as well. As such, I merely wait for others to post their experience, try things for myself, then formulate my own opinion. Food quality/flavor being paramount for me, with service a close second. Hell, I'd accept crappy service, if the food was stellar! But such cannot be the case if they won't even seat you! I roll into Marcello's a couple of Thursdays ago with a customer of mine. He previously mentioned how wonderful the place sounds, and really wanted to try it. The restaurant was not at capacity yet(it was early 6:30 or so). He also requested outdoor seating. Ambient temp was pleasant. I immediately concurred, as I've dined there numerous times, on the patio area as well and have NEVER had a bad experience. Well, the hostess would not allow for patio seating. Mind you, there was no one else outside. She did say that there was a party of diners in some section of the restaurant that would not allow for us to utilize the patio seating area. What?!! There was even a table right outside the front door where we would have gladly sat. we weren't even offered the chance to sit there! After waiting for several minutes for her to return, and subsequently given no patio option to dine, we left and dropped 450.00 at an establishment just up the road, where they were more than happy to let us sit outdoors, drink some wine, enjoy a great meal and tip our server handsomely. In a time where restaurants still struggle, I find it quite cavalier to behave this way. Get it together, Marcello's!

Koby, Koby, Koby Wow. Truly a professional. He was perfectly personable. Had great insight/ recommendations. We wanted for nothing the entire night. He truly made our wedding day special. I hope he gets serves his soon to be wedding day like he did for us. Now on to what everyone is here for The food. Incredible We started off with the squash soup, calamari, and mozzarella sticks. Highly recommend all of them No notes. Couldn't have been any better Entree: we both got veal. I got the palmero and he got the parm. The veal (had to find in the Lafayette area) was top tier. So tender yet perfectly crispy My favorite dessert in the world in a cannoli. It perfect. It had no sour to it. The perfect texture By all means before you leave, if you truly love yourself. Finish the night off with the house made lemoncello

Upscale trattoria in Lafayette the restaurant was chosen by my lunch guest. Clearly an upscale place id recommend wearing at least slacks and a collared shirt as many lunch guests were in suits or blazers Ambiance is traditional dark woods , bar area located in front of restaurant by entrance and looked like a great place to get a martini when in search I started with the cream corn and shrimp bisque with lump crab meat - solid but could have used a pinch of salt. Bisque was loaddd with seafood Entree was the salmon limon with asparagus.. The sauce that comes with the fish is a lemon/butter/caper and works well with the salmon For desert i had their lemoncello marscapone cheese cake.. put cake in front of me and i get weak in the knees.. this cake was outstanding Service was great from Shelby and we were given plenty of time to visit

My husband and I spent a week on a foodie vacation in Lousiana. We tried just about anything we could find. On our final night, after a long drive from New Orleans, we coasted into Lafayette just looking to eat anywhere before bed. We stumbled across Marcello's. Feeling severely under dressed we bellied up to the bar for quick service. Our bartenders turned a night of just grab anything to a full blown experience. Wyatt, Steven, and Ethan were superb and the Chicken Piccata left me speechless. I can not believe we almost missed out on a chance to experience Marcellos atmosphere. They checked all the boxes. Well done!

From the moment we walked in with the sweet gent who held open the door and greeted us to the other hostess, super friendly staff. Our server, Alexis - very attentive. Alexis offered the best suggestion which we took. We had the lasagna, bursts and the Chicken Molli dish. So good. Finished it off with the caramel pudding dish! Everything was delicious. The food and drinks were amazing as usual my friend and I had a great time with our server, Wyatt!! Will definitely be back to try more of their amazing cocktails!!

Our third visit to this restaurant and it's consistently impressive. We had a reservation because it was my birthday. Three different staff told me happy birthday and there was a card on the table as well. The salad was great, the scallops were tasty, the fresh bread was hot and crunchy. Because it was my birthday, dessert was free and delicious. Service was friendly and very efficient. The wine selection is great. My favorite place to celebrate for a good price! We will be back!

Marcelo's is our go to place for special occasions. We celebrated our 26th anniversary and they didn't disappoint. Our server, Demi was attentive, helpful and friendly.

One of my husband and I's favorite restaurants! Service is fantastic and the food is always delicious. We went for a birthday dinner and the staff kindly had a birthday card on the table and generously provided a free dessert; it was so sweet!

Just excellent. One of my favorite places in Lafayette. My favorite in Baton Rouge is Jubans. Hard to beat but Marcello's is as good, if not better.

Came to this restaurant for a work meeting. Louisiana is known for its food but I was skeptical is Italian cuisine also applied. I can confirm to add Italian cuisine at this restaurant tops my list! Beautiful place and great customer service!

BEWARE MARCELLOS it is not what it once was. We recently visited Marcellos and it's so different from years past. Almost every dish is excessively breaded fried buttered, cheesed or oiled. We couldn't find a healthy item on the menu. The portions have shrunk so significantly that they seem to think the are feeding small children. The price however is outsized and certain doesn't match up with the portion size or the service. They use to do a reasonable markup on wine as they are also a wine store but now it's marked up over 100% We ordered fish, veal multiple appetizers and salads. The chicken serving was a little more filling than the rest. They use to have a seafood pasta dish called the Serena which they took off the menu but if you asked for it they would do it for you now they have gotten so rigid that even though they use a similar sauce for their mussel appetizer they won't do the Serena anymore. Another example of their unwillingness to accommodate is they don't offer plain bread their bread has to be served seasoned and lathered with butter or oil . If you ask for a vegetable substitution for a starch like the potato they want to charge you for it and not a small up charge expect it to be so large you say forget I even mentioned it. If you don't mind paying their exorbitant prices for very small portions and clogging your arteries make a reservation and see if your experience is any different I really hope it is.

I came here for a birthday dinner and I just want to start by saying that the house bread may be the best bread I've ever had! It comes with oil/balsamic and it was literally amazing. The service was sooooo slow and there were barely any customers. Our dinner was for 8 and we didn't leave until after 11pm. The drinks were taking 20,30 min to come out. Appetizers took about an hour. The calamari was good but undercooked. The charcuterie board was okay, it was a large but there were more miscellaneous items than cheese/meat/crackers. I ordered the Tritone pasta. It needed seasoning so i added salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes and after that it was delicious! So, overall it's good but prepare to be in there for a while

Outstanding food and service. We arrived for our Anniversary, sat promptly with a happy anniversary card on our table, ordered 2 mock cocktails recommended by our great waitress, and evening went upwards from there warm crisp bread, which got us through to the appetizer's, and wow it was delicious, the sauce on the mussels over the top, and the calamari was perfect. The entrees, Linguini , and the Pollo was great, but the Risotto I repeat the Risotto was out of this world, the creamy texture matched with the walnuts was a divine experience. For dessert our gracious waitress recommended the Panna Cotta with caramel this ended an amazing meal what great flavor. Definitely top 2 best Anniversary meals.

Not as good as I remember the New Orleans locations. Bring but still very delicious. Our waiter was a little slow but food and wine made up for it. The veal Marsala was delish.

I had a beyond incredible time dining at Marcello's. I came here for date night with my boyfriend, and it was one of the best experiences we've had. Our server was phenomenal and displayed just the perfect amount of attentiveness. We were at a table slightly closed off from the rest of the restaurant, which made for an even more intimate experience. I am a major wine drinker and LOVED seeing the bottles everywhere! You can get up and pick your own bottle from the walls that you want to have with your meal, or order from the "by the glass" part of the menu. What we ate: Calamari Fritti: perfectly fried calamari with a delicious marinara sauce (yum yum) Linguini Tritone: lobster, shrimp, crabmeat, spinach, and mushrooms in sherry cream sauce with linguini (really delicious but too much sauce) Shrimp Pepate: large shrimp sauteed with roasted garlic and crushed red pepper in a light olive oil sauce tossed with linguini and toasted pine nuts (phenomenal!) Chocolate torte: three-layer chocolate cake (too light for my taste but still good) Overall, the food was great, the wine was amazing, and the service was top-notch.

Marcello's is the best romantic date and event place in Lafayette. Highly recommend getting one of their signature cocktails as well which NEVER disappoint! Thank you for a beautiful anniversary every year!

Had to drop some stars for this established based on the staff. I went there to pick up holiday gift cards and wine. The bar staff was accommodating, kind, and helpful with the right choices (I had no idea where to start). I can't wait to go there for dinner cause it smelt freaking amazing! And the environment was darling and location great.

Me and my husband went out for our anniversary and decided to try something new. We were seated at the bar as we didn't have a reservation. It was very well decorated and elegant. We had a drink and waited to be sat at a table. The waitress was very quick and informative about all the food. And the food was very good. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely worth 5 stars!

This was our first time going to Marcello's and it did not disappoint! We started off with the calamari and it was delicious. For our entrees my husband got the pepper and sausage, the fried gnocchi was so good!! I got the special which was a ravioli dish with shrimp and a wonderful sauce. For dessert we got a free tiramisu for it being our first time dining with them! I would sell my soul for that tiramisu so GOOD! I got a espresso and my husband got a cappuccino both wonderful! The service was also amazing!

Normally we would get the Linguini Tritone or the Truffle mac and cheese as a part of our meal, but this time, we changed it up! We still got the delicious mussel as usual, but this time we had: Pesce Limone - Lemon butter caper mushroom sauce, roasted asparagus Pollo Arrostito - Half deboned Opelousas chicken, shallot pan sauce, risotto di giorno, flash fried Brussel sprouts And let me tell you, I never order chicken from restaurants, but this thing was delicious!!! And the Pesce Limone was so divine!!! Seems like anything you order here is going to be delicious, so do yourself a favor, make a reservation (yes, you probably will need to if you want to eat here). Excellent service, food, and drinks! Perfect place for a girls dinner or a romantic date. We had calamari, mussels, charcuterie for apps. I had the seafood pasta! Can't wait to take my significant other here.

A very solid performance! Preferred the meatballs to the meat sauce and spaghetti. 3 waiters recommended the shrimp pepale. It felt undersauced at first but I took s pic of the shaved garlic and pine nuts I got in last bites. The end was marvelous. Wines election was unparalleled in lafayette. The tomato soup was great! A repeat for sure. Made second trip with folks. It was Anthony bourdain special night so I had caching peppi with pork cheeks. It was average. Amarone was good but I prefer the tedeschi. Egg parm and spaghetti with meat sauce were above average. The crabmeat stack app was awesome! Waitress did a great job!mmmmm

We have enjoyed Marcelo's over the years whenever visiting family in Lafayette. We were disappointed, too, when the NOLA location closed. The food is amazing as is the service and, of course, the wine selection. I always think I'll have just a glass but then I can't pass up the excellent bottle selections. I have in to a bottle of Caymus for $120. We had the sausage with peppers and the pork cheek Marsala. Both were excellent. My disappointment started when I realized that the family sold to Southern Hospitality Group. I didn't let that initially taint my opinion but I was just sad to see yet another family business succumb to a large conglomerate. The real disappointment, however, came when we got the check and saw the message that "non-cash customers" will pay 4% more. What?!? I get that there's a cost to businesses for credit card charges but why isn't that built into the menu prices? Who carries that much cash, or any cash for that matter? Needless to say, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I'll never go back.

Great for a date night! Food is always on point! Great wine selection as well. Be sure and try the mussels as an appetizer, ask for extra bread for dipping, because the sauce is to die for! The Parmesan chicken, veal, and eggplant are also a must. They make all of their sauces in-house and they are all fabulous! Best spot in Lafayette for Italian cuisine!

Food was excellent , on a Monday night when most restaurants are dark. Sam was our waiter, and was understanding and subtly Attentive as three old friends discussed 40 years of history. He made great recommendations... calamari And drinks to keep our conversation rolling. After drink Sam was able to recommend a decent one that matched our entrees. Our entrées were fabulous definitely recommend! We stayed there till closing.

Excellent food and service. Not a typical "red sauce" restaurant. Lots of family inspired dishes. Glad they kept Gene's favorites on the menu. Don't change!

Have not been to this restaurant since the management change. I know in the past it was always a good choice with great food and atmosphere. Service at times was slow.

What a wonderful restaurant. The appetizer mussels are amazing. My Shrimp Diablo pasta was incredible. My wife's Veal Piccata was perfect. Our server, Ernie, was helpful and conscientious. The ambience, vibe, food, and service is terrific. We will be back soon. One of the finest restaurants in Lafayette.

Good, not great (and it HAS been great on some previous occasions). Excellent selection of wines that you can go pick out yourself or seek guidance from your server. Great vibe, lots of happy people. Sam was our server and he was terrific: gave us attention when we needed it and left us alone when we did not. He knew my wife's dietary limitations and how to accommodate them. We began with a Caprese salad, which was good, but would have been great if they had used some really flavorful summer tomatoes instead of the mediocre standard grocery store variety. I had the special, which was tilefish, and it was delicious, particularly when topped with mounds of fresh lump crabmeat. Another in our party had the Chicken Molli, which she said was perfect. My wife, however, had the Veal Piccata over GF pasta; unfortunately, the veal was overcooked and as a result, quite dry. Very good espressos and cappucinos to conclude the meal. Frequently when we are in Lafayette Marcello's will be the best meal of the visit; on this trip, though it was good for the most part, it was #3 of 3 meals in town.

My husband and I went to Marcellos for our anniversary and we loved it! We both got different specials that they were running, and the food was amazing! The Irish coffee was amazing as well for dessert! I recommend this place 1000%!

I hate giving bad reviews but I hate bring nickeled and dimed even more. Keep in mind that a pound of pasta costs about 99 cents retail. $18 for spaghetti and meatballs. The marina was delicious. The meatballs were excellent. For that matter I am generally hard to please when it comes to Caesar salad. Theirs is very good. I ordered linguine not spaghetti. The later is what I got. No big deal! However I ran out of spaghetti before I finished the meatballs. No bread was given so I asked for a little more pasta. They gave me a very small bowl of watery pasta and I got through the rest of the meal. When the bill came I was charged $5 extra. That will be the last five dollars they get from me. I would have loved to have been a return customer for the two weeks I am in town. For that matter I will give my business to a different liquor store too since they own both business and cross advertise. Pasta is the cheapest part of the meal. To serve 30 cents if pasta is not too much to ask for out of an $18.00 bill. I don't like being told that I don't know the difference between spaghetti and linguine by someone half my age either.

Can't really go wrong with this place. Great food, awesome wine list and the service is always top notch. Best place in town for a special occasion.

Was really disappointed that at the end of a lovely meal, I was served a 4% "non-cash" upcharge for the use of a credit card. In this day and age when many establishments will only accept "non-cash" payments, you charge for using a credit card? This should be posted on your social media and mentioned when making a reservation or ordering. I realize that CC have charges; this is generally viewed as the price of doing business. When traveling for business, as I was, a credit card is the necessary form of payment. I hope that you reconsider your policy, or at least adopt a more transparent means of dispensing it.

My wife met some friends fo lunch. She ordered the After School Special, soup and a sandwich, she said the soup was good but the sandwich was lacking. Her words" I'd be ashamed to serve this". Does that look like a $12 sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup?

We enjoyed dining here with our friends they live in the area and highly recommended this place. I'm so happy we listened, the food is amazing and they indulged our substitution requests. Everything was perfect not one complaint on any dish, nothing but praise. Service was prompt and pleasant. Drinks flowed timely. The best part was the fantastic food at such a great value on pricing . I didn't have dessert but the others did and raved about it.

We went there for my parents' anniversary and it was good! The food was really tasty and the atmosphere of the place was relaxing! The place was nice and fancy. The service was good too.

We love coming to Marcello's. My boyfriend always gets the chicken Parmesan and I don't eat meat or seafood but the kitchen always whips up a delicious veggie pasta for me. Always enough to have leftovers the next day. Big plus, they offer gluten free noodles and give you complimentary bread. Great wine selection and the specials are worth checking out. Service is always excellent and we love Hallie, you're lucky if you get her as your server!

My Sweetie brought me here for date night... We had the most Fabulous time! Out waiter was wonderful and the Food was phenomenal!! Jeff doesn't have his glasses so our waiter brought us a box of glasses.

Maybe it should be 5 stars because of our wonderful waitress tonight. Really great food! I had the chicken piccata my husband had the fish special both were well represented! Tomorrow we drone in New Orleans!!!

We had a great experience at this restaurant. My pasta was a little heavier than expected but had great flavor. The filet was one of the best we've ever had, I am still thinking about it. We will be visiting again soon!

I visited Marcello's with my co-workers today for lunch. The meat balls are simply delicious and authentic the Italian way. We had salads, Panini's, Fish and Pasta, which all was cooked perfectly. The service and the food are 5 stars. Great place!

Decent food..snooty atmosphere. Would expect better food for the snooty atmosphere but it isn't horrible.

The place used to offer first rate food and service. I appreciate they were busy tonight 5/21/2021 but sat at the bar and were basically ignored for 2.5 hours. It took multiple attempts to get attention of bar person to place an order and make a request. Three requests to get the check. If literally didn't say 20 words to us. Southern Hospitality should be ashamed and Marcello should be ashamed to have his name associated with this poor service. The food, when it finally came out, was exceptional but other places offer up great food and service. Won't be back anytime soon.
