Marché de la Place du Châtelain

Lovely Wednesday market, with a good mix of fruit and vegetable vendors, meat, poultry, cheese and food stalls. We hesitated grabbing a baguette, cheese and charcuterie, but decided on the lahmajoun style pizzas made from scratch right in front of you. It was excellent. We also had goat milk yogurt, so good. Plenty of drink options, but all wine, no beer surprisingly. Good mix of locals and visitors, and friendly vibe all around.

It used to be a great place to have a drink on Wednesdays, but then the local residents put pressure on the town hall and managed to prohibit drinks in the streets after 8pm... suddenly it was a lot less fun

Lovely, friendly, cozy street market. I love to visit these markets, even on my travels. This one is one of the best. People are so friendly to each other. I can tell that confidently, even I don't understand their language. You can find fresh fruit, vegetable, flowers, pasta, cheese, olives here. And also there is a good variety of food stalls. People eating, drinking and chatting around them. I saw paella, börek, grilled chicken , oysters, sugar cane juice, wine, calamari... Very good alternatives I assume, because the people were enjoying their food a lot. I can definitely say it was more like a neighborhood party than a market. Loved it.

I am going there every Wednesday and this says enough. Simply this is a cosy place with quite friendly atmosphere. Last time one guy forget to give me some small change, but he corrected himself quickly. Simply the old trick did not work. 😉 Good choice of fruits and vegetables, always fresh and just a little overpriced. Street food shops are enough attractive for takeaway, for eating on the spot - not so much, but prices are affordable.

Good mix of fruit, veg and stalls selling ready cooked meals and alcohol. Not as big as I expected and very small space - a bit difficult walking around. Should imagine it would be very difficult to move around if it was super busy. Lots of nice cafes in the surrounding streets.

One of the biggest food stalls and are much more cozy then others in brussels. DO NOT EXPECT cheap price or high quality. Its fun to be there because a lot of food stalls. Only that it is quite repetitive. Like a lot of same products from different sellers. It is like you do not have lots choices even it looks like you have. I still recommend this as its located in good neighbourhood with lots cafes and open till evening.

Every Wednesday evening you can find vegetables, fruits, street food, wine and Moroccan tea here. It's very small, but cozy. Be a bit before 6pm if you want to get a table at one of the stalls, otherwise you can find a spot on the grass in the middle of the market. Gets really crowded by 7 though.

Always try to make it here if i am in Brussels on a Weds. Great fresh produce, food vendors and even a wine vendor. Busy atmosphere with people dropping in after work. Getting pricier these days... but to be expected in St Gilles!

Rush on Wednesday to beat the crowds. Love the shopping, fab groceries! Love the street food! Recommend it to all Brussels residents, visitors will also be super happy! My preferred suppliers of nuts and olives, bread and fresh pasta are reason enough to make the effort!

Great event to discover Brussels if you are visiting the city. During the summer, it gets busy and all sort of people are having a good time around the square and nearby streets. Do not hesitate to try for a drink or for a bite to eat!

Great place for street food,local food. Try pad Thai stand,the piadina and the Cheese stand!
