Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

It is a solid track. Greens nice rolling around 9 speed? 275€ plus cart. Overall experience was a 5/10. 5 hour round, no beverage cart or halfway house. Just main bar where at the turn, a group or two stopped for a while causing a 3 group backup on 10. No personnel to correct this on a nice course is odd. Main clubhouse is blah. There is also a pool near the patio that is unkept, green, eyesore. A lot of Ryder Cup display is kinda overkill. If you have a cool course, there’s no need to splash it everywhere.

I travel around playing bucket list golf and added this to my list as I was already visiting Rome. The facility was very underwhelming. I won’t go into course conditions because I played in February though all the courses I played in Portugal weeks prior were in much better condition and this was my most expensive round. I tried canceling ahead of time after reading reviews and extended weather forecast. I was one day away from cancellation policy so I couldn’t cancel and save myself the transportation costs. I seriously felt like I was at my home course not at a former Ryder cup venue. No starter at first tee, no Marshall on course that I could see. Cart kept saying I could go on fairway and every time I did it said to get on path. A worker called the pro shop for me because it wasn’t cart path only and they couldn’t end up getting the cart fixed. Which ended up being a none issue because of how much time I had between shots, plenty of time to walk to my ball. I had a group of old ladies in front of me who I met at each tee and couldn’t get by. I skipped a hole to get by only to see the course backed up in front of them too. I skipped 3 holes to get ahead of everyone as after 3 holes I was on pace for a 6hr round. Once in the clear I caught up to what appeared to be a high tier player practicing with their coach and ended up just packing up and leaving. I was alone in a cart and expect to catch people and be slowed down and that’s ok but with no starter at 1st tee everyone just tees off in order not at that their time so it was backed up. No problem for my home course but not cool for an expensive round. Really wish I tried canceling a day earlier so I was within the 7 day cancellation window. Not crossing this one off my list, I’m just removing it completely.

Great staff and amazing course. However the facilities are very underwhelming and the clubhouse seems to not be maintained. The locker rooms, still showing the signs from the Ryder Cup and not well kept. The toilets and showers need a make over. The general staff are very friendly and very helpful. There is a feeling that some money needs to be spent to keep the public, who are paying a huge green fee, an experience that they will want others to share. I will say that if all your care literally the 18 holes of golf then that’s great. If you’re after an “entrance to exit expericnce then this is not the place to choose. And be warned. There is no starter or anyone on the course managing the speed of play. My round was 5hr45min. There is also no enforcement of players repairing the pitch marks on the green. The greens are beautiful but it is embarrassing to see so many pitch marks on the green. 10/10 for the golf course even with the pitch marks all over the green . 4/10 for the overall experience.

Very nice golf course. 35 min from Rome city center by taxi. 1-9 holes more water. 10-18 holes quite hilly. Challenging greens. Fees are a bit overpriced (fairways currently painted in many places), I guess due to upcoming Ryder Cup. Food in the restaurant good. Service was very good everywhere. Nice golf shop. Good rental clubs for men and women. They had some tournament on a day we wanted to play again and they managed to find us time to play! 😊 Thank you!

What a special place this has been during the Ryder Cup. I look forward to play here myself. The course is very hilly, which makes it more difficult to get the distances right. Do take with you a lot of sun protection. There is almost no shadow anywhere.

Played in late May of 2024. I'm from the US, and was on a business trip, and got the chance to play. The experience is awesome! They still have the locker rooms set up for the Ryder Cup, and much of the clubhouse, and signage is still from the Ryder Cup. The course itself was in fantastic shape. I chose to walk it, as they said in the clubhouse most of the locals do that. I would suggest - if you're able - to walk it as well, really adds to the experience. The front 9 is the easier walk, as it stays on relatively the same level. Making your way around the Castle of Marco Simone is awesome. The back 9 is a much more challenging walk. 10, 11, 12 are all straight up hill. But the pano view at the top of 12's tee is AWESOME! The course was in great shape. Greens were firm and fast, rough was still pretty thick - but playable. The tall stuff is basically dead unless you get lucky and find a wispy spot. A few things if you're a tourist trying to golf: One, it's outside the city center, and was hard to find Uber drivers to make the trip there and back. Going there was a little easier, but finding one to pick me up to take me back to the city was much more difficult. The clubhouse will call a taxi for you if you want. Second, the rental clubs were Callaway Mavericks, stiff shaft. They were fine, but just wanted to make sure people knew. If you walk, they will include a 'walking trolley' (push cart). Range is included in your reservation as well. I've heard some people had issues booking online, but that was not my experience. I booked online and saved a little money as well, but it's still pricey (260 or so euros to play and rent clubs). It was definitely worth the experience if you're willing to pay it!

Among the best courses I have ever played. Conditions were impeccable. I definitely need to return and attempt it again because my game must have been left behind in the hotel room so my score was a bruise to my ego. Not going to blame the rental clubs, but will state that the quality of the clubs did not align with the price. Hopefully will have my own clubs when I return.

It’s the best golf course that I ever had in my entire golf life. I played after Ryder cup for two weeks, therefore the course looks like Ryder cup on live streaming. Great experience with Marco Simone! 💕💕💕👍👍👍

I booked a foursome at Marco Simone for late October for a total amount of 1.680,00€. The weather prediction was for hard rain and thunderstorms, so I cancelled 7 days in advance, as they required. I received an email back stating I would be refunded my 1.680,00€ by the end of the month. I never received a refund, nor will the club return any of my emails to them. They basically stole my money. In 50 years of playing golf this is a first, and everyone should be warned of their very bad customer service. I've put the credit card company on to them, but doubt I will ever see my money. Terrible, unethical behavior on their part, likely reflecting how they manage their course.

Having played all the UK Open Championship venues, I was excited to experience Marco Simone G&CC and play the upcoming Ryder Cup course. Sadly, that experience was quickly foiled by their inhospibital customer reception and service, soiled & unclean facilities throughout, and golf rental equipment that would make your local muni course embarrassed to offer. Although the course was up to par, the facilities, staff and clubhouse scored out as a triple bogey...not worth the money!
