Mare Meua Bar de Tapas

**The opening hours do not match those listed on google, so beware! We had to wait around for a while for it to open. But Russafa is a great neighbourhood with plenty to see and do in the meantime. Mare Meua is a quirky colourful and character filled tapas place in Russafa run by two sisters. All the decorations suggested the days of the patriarchy are numbered, so it’s definitely my kinda place! The tapas were plentiful, a wide variety of interesting bar snacks set out on the bar, a feast for the eyes. At one point the sisters sat down to chat with us about the secret family recipe for the tortilla espanola and all the delicious food we gorged on. They had great vegetarian options as well

We had a lovely experince here. The lady that served us spoke English which was great since our Spanish is pretty bad. We asked her for more traditional Spanish tapas and she gave us some suggestions which were excellent. We also had Agua de Valencia which was refreshing and tasted excellent. We had 5 tapas in total and 2 drinks, the cost was about 15 euros per person with drinks, around 30 euros in total.

Different sorts of montaditos and pinchos. No table service. No credit card. There are around 6 or 7 different dining options and just a few vegetarian. The ambient is cozy but a bit crowded. Papas con Mojo worth a try, mini burgers too. The only "but" is the value the food has. If you want to have a complete meal you have to spend your good 10€ in there.

We paid 85Euro for 5 Moscow mules, one red wine and the food seen on the pictures below. Service was ok but the food was not very well flavoured. The Moscow mules were made with ginger ale instead of ginger beer. There are plenty of better places in the neighborhood for tapas and drinks for a better price.

The owners were very nice and chill. The food was good and the atmosphere was amusing. Overall a very good experience.

Excellent place where I think ”mama mue” the woman behind the desk, is the boss, she sure serves foods and treats her guests like a boss. Very nice ambience and a low key place för food with friends. Loved it.

We were looking for a tapas bar with a twist after a week of having the traditional tapas in Valencia. This place was exactly what we were looking for as it had tapas but very different from what we’ve had. We could order at de bar where you could see where to choose from. Everything looked delicious but the tasted was even better!! It was also nice to see this place is ran with passion, creativity and the people working here really seem to love their job. The food was original and tasteful, we tried a lot and none of them disappointed! When we come back to Valencia we are excited to see what’s new in store at Mare Meua!

Nice atmosphere with good music. Food was delicious and I liked the system how you order and pay straight away. Service could have been a little friendlier, they didn't know any English or smiled at all!
