MH is one of those up-market, strictly non-bling, timeless designers.Think Ralph Lauren, or Meryl Streep's wardrobe in Out of Africa-crisp linens, vintage knits, immaculately cut skirts and trousers.Although Howell has been around for a good long while, her stuff never looks datedand nor should it-for clothes that are quietly confident and do not scream designer or Gucci you are required to pay some hefty prices . Quite unelaborate knits start at over £400 and shirts at around the £200 mark.
There seem to be few outlets for Howell(there used to be a concession in Selfridges which I think has gone) and there is no doubt that you are getting unique almost one-off classics, but be prepared to pay dearly for this rather unostentatious , Ritzy and conservative designer.
Seriously elegant, and seriously pricey.
