This is more of a 3.5 star review but alas that's not an option. ||||The main hostel staff was really nice and accommodating for my foot injury, which was really kind of them. I had good interactions with them and found them to be very helpful and responsive.||||The wifi at the hostel is great and the kitchen has good storage.||||My main issues with my stay were big ones though, which is noise and temperature. There is very little insulation in the hostel so it gets VERY cold inside. Rooms have central heat though, which is huge and great at night. But bathrooms are cold as well.||||The volume of noise that reverberates in this hostel was really surprising and the worst I've had on any hostel stay so far. You hear literally everything, from someone pooping in the bathroom next door to any step taken in the hostel area. Main guests are young WHV kids and they are incredibly loud until 12am or even post-bars around 2-3 am and then 6am during weekdays. I did talk to the main hostel staff about this and they were very apologetic (as they know the kids are an issue) and they talked to them but alas, it was still an ongoing issue. Yes, I know this is a hostel but the volume of noise they made at those hours with zero regard for others was just too much.||||Bed are comfortable, rooms are basic. There is only one working dryer (which was not working well while I was there, but staff refunded me) and two washing machines. All straightforward. Great on-site parking too.||||Location is also fantastic, right near the heart of the main town and within walking distance to two grocery stores.||||While I'm so appreciative of the main hostel staff's help while I was there, I don't know if I would stay again due to the noise level. That was a major, major issue even with ear plugs in. It is a solid, basic hostel option but really be aware of the noise before booking.

Nice hostel, people are Seldom permitted to stay here unless they book in advance through email well before they plan on staying. This is good because there are less people then there are beds for, no crackheads or annoying aussie locals. Good community and reasonable rates. Bunk beds are slightly awkward though and do not have ladders, rooms are slightly crowded and lack good storage space but thankfully they are hardly ever full. By far the best and most affordable place to go in margs (if you can get in)

Dirty and smelly rooms. Bathrooms quite cold in the winter. Kitchen was alright. Price way too high !!

I only stayed one night but enjoyed it. Sheets were clean - people friendly. I didn’t use the kitchen but it looked alright. Lots of residents. The hostel is in the city and all the shops are in walking distance. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a cheap and good vibe accommodation!

The hostel was a nice base to explore the region. On check in you get cutlery and plates. However in the kitchen everything is sticky. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean. A recommendation for the hostel would be to provide a tea towel to dry your own kitchen ware. Overall good stay and friendly staff

Located 5min walking from the TransWA stop, just 2min from the main street with all the shops, cafés and restaurants. ||||The hostel is clean, with a beautiful common area, indoor and outdoor dining room, a lounge room with TV, dvds, books, comfy couches.||The kitchen is big, with many stoves spots and sinks. ||Quite nice for every guest to have our own shelf with our own kitchen bag, so each guest is responsible for his own plates, cutlery etc. ||||Stayed in a 8-bed dorm, clean rooms, large enough for everyone to have a space.||Bathrooms are ok, generally clean, hot water available.||||I visited during the Easter Weekend, the opening hours of the reception weren't the best given the arrival times of the bus, but the staff is very friendly and efficient.||||The one thing making me feel a bit bitter was the MANY messages in the kitchen about the importance of cleaning and drying and packing. Of course, I understand the staff wants the guest to be clean and responsibl (thats what we all want!), it is simply a shame it had to be done with "threatening" messages saying "we can see on the recording videos who washes his dishes or not, and we can ask you to leave if you don't ".

My immediate misgivings about this place, when we entered the front door through a haze of cigarette smoke, proved well-founded. The kitchen was filthy, the bathrooms weren’t much better, and our quad room was cramped and freezing after 2am. You are issued with a bag of crockery and cutlery of dubious cleanliness. The deck would be great if it weren’t permanently populated by smokers. And worst of all, it’s extremely noisy. You are kept awake till all hours by guests who ignore signs requesting quiet after 10pm. You hear every footstep and every door slam - until 4am in our case. Definitely not up to YHA standards.

My family stays regularly in YHAs when we travel to Australia. This rates as our most disappointing experience. I think the key issue was the general cleanliness especially of the toilets and kitchens. The kitchens could be more well equipped and kept in good order. The toilets were often wet and at times dirty. There were even cracked sinks. It did not help that the showers did not have consistent temperatures. The beds were also very uncomfortable and the family room cramped. There was no cupboard to store stuff in.
