On the Grid : Margarete

"The restaurant Margarete tempts Frankfurt and its visitors with delicious old favourites and newly interpreted dishes. From lunchtime to late into the night, whether for coffee and cake, a meal with friends or a business dinner, Margarete caters for it all. It’s special twist: the intimate area in the back of the restaurant allows guests – thanks to its adjustable furnishings – to create their own private rooms. The interior at Margarete indicates a true love for detail, is elegant, but also homey." - Bureau Mitte

I liked the vibe of the place.. it is quite modern and serves a wide range of food items. They do have a good chef who prepares well engineered food. Service speed could have been better, staff were very courteous and helpful.

Dining at Margarete was a highly enjoyable experience. The staff were incredibly accommodating, seating us and taking our order even though the kitchen was due to close in just 10 minutes. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and with generous portion sizes. The ambiance provided a refreshing escape from the excitement of Euro 2024, making it a perfect spot to unwind and savor a wonderful meal. Highly recommended!

While out trying to find a restaurant on a busy night when Germany was playing a football game, this restaurant was a welcome, pleasant retreat. Just out of the main tourist area, the bistro section had a padded outdoor couch awaiting us on the street. Excellent fresh, lemonades, potato soup, and entrees...organic sausages with generous portion of Frankfurter green sauce and goat cheese with apricots and vegetables. Service was remarkably attentive for Germany, as well!

Google
located in Frankfurt downtown, faced to tram line. However, the restaurant is located inside of the store, very quite and spacious. The waiter was so friendly, and knowledgeful. Food is inspired by asian influence, very interesting, and tasty. Everything was so good.

Google
Good restaurant with creative food. Very tasty and accompanied with good wine selection. I had my stake medium rear done and it was perfect. Also to point out - chocolate cake was splendid. High quality service.

Super tasty! Had a company team dinner there and the food, all courses were super delicious. We booked a room in the back and had super friendly and fast service. The staff pleasant, polite and quick. What else do you need.

Frankfurt is always worth a visit and stopping for dinner at Margarete makes a great evening. Tonight the set menu was good but I decided to go à la carte. Wine list is very Frenchie/German but we found a NZ-style compromise. Removed one star because the cook was a bit afraid to add more spice.

Yelp
This was amazing. The service was great. The food came in good portions. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Went back yesterday, the food and service was great! Definitely 5 stars! The dessert was the only thing which didn't deserve all the stars. The presentation was cool, but not the taste. And we tried several desserts. I loved my mint tea!

Yelp
It made me shit my pants.... I am writing more because Yelp says my review is too short. However my review is straight to the toilet...I mean to the point.

Yelp
While walking around Frankfurt I found this bistro. This is a great little spot. The service was quick and all the servers spoke great English. It was super clean and the food was awesome. I had a cappuccino when I arrived. For lunch I ordered the calamari. The steak fries were perfect (you can't really mess up fries). The best part of the meal was the mayo dipping sauce. It tasted like a very mild tartar sauce. It perfectly complimented the calamari. It was all together a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Pretentiously reinterpreted Frankfurt food in a very nicely decorated environment with an authentic bad service. Not good value for money, especially considering the service. Maybe more personal would improve the whole experience.

Yelp
Amazing vegan diner on Sunday night and lovely service. Not expensive at all. Highly recommended

Yelp
stylish atmosphere, cool location and good food. but too bad - later that evening it got quite hectic. it feels like they have added tables to the restaurant because of the high demand - I felt sorry for the people sitting at these additional tables right at the door. ... and for the restrooms - maybe because margarete is close to one of the tourist spots - unloving & cold place ;)

Yelp
Cute little place just around the corner from Romberg. Kind of reminds of Aubaine meets Villandry (but without the food market - although it does have its own art gallery), with tables and benches on a small terrace and a comfy library-like cubby hole mixed with small and communal dining tables that is serviced by a cafe-counter that serves coffee, sandwiches, pastries etc. But towards the rear is a full-service restaurant with a choice of long and small tables. The passage to the dining room in particular, benefits from copper panelling which looks gorgeous but I bet is an ABSOLUTE nightmare to keep clean! Both areas benefit from bi-folding doors that on a warm summer's evening make for a pleasant dining experience. Staff are very friendly, speak English (for us non-Germans) and helpful with the menu. It's not the most amazing food if I'm going to be honest. But the complimentary basket of breads and dips are AMAZING. I love the egg and avocado but the sundried tomato and olive is just as good. But I've had their linguine twice now and they tend to put too much salt in the cooking process. Choice of wine is limited IMHO too. But in the land of currywurst, this is a nice little bolt hole of modern European fare, and it's reasonably priced too.

Yelp
Awful service. Had to wait two hours for main course to be served with no apology. Food acceptable, but who wants to wait two hours to eat

Yelp
Bad service even for Frankfurt's dismal standards. The food was lackluster, my pulled porky, open face sandwich was overlooked and stringy, the fries were frozen and tastless. Second courses arrived late when other dinners finished their meal. I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Great food - we didn't make the right kinds' of plans for our one stay in Frankfurt and ending up walking around trying to find any place that would seat 4 people without reservations. By 7 pm, most places were full and we just wanted that last minute German food experience. When we walked into this very inviting eatery, we must have looked like sad wayward travelers...the hostess took pity on us and was quick to offer the last two top in the bar (even though we had 4) but said the food was the same if we wanted. The waitress was super nice and both helped these non-German speaking patrons the best they could. I really can't remember exactly what we got but it was something like a deconstructed Weiner schnitzel and a Boar pasta - both tasted great!

Yelp
First restaurant we tried when we first arrived in Frankfurt. Came here for brunch and had some great beers, cheeses/sausages, and bread. Cute little place near the Romer. Coffee was also really good. Never had anything from the dinner menu but it looks great. Only tried the small bites. Good service and friendly staff.

Yelp
Decent food, decent service. A nice find near the Romerplatz. We had a little of everything off the menu - chicken, falafel, meatballs, Caesar salad. All were good. The chicken was especially tasty, and the Caesar salad felt like a treat after so many salads drenched in Italian dressing-like substitute. The meal pleased everyone from teenagers to toddlers and adults alike. The ambiance is cute. We sat in the section that had a rotating art exhibit with photos of the Berlin Wall. That made for interesting conversation. The other section looked like it had some comfy couches, as well as smaller tables (we had 7 in our party). I didn't find the prices to be overly expensive. I would rate it closer to 2 euros rather than 3. Service was fine for us. The waitress spoke English well enough and was patient enough to translate the menu for us. And she made sure that we had drinks coming and was responsive to anything we needed. I would recommend this place as a not-so-touristy option close to touristy Romerberg.

Yelp
Great vegetarian cuisine (for this non-vegetarian), classy and hip decor, and good ambiance. Service was pretty slow, but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't bother us.
