I had dinner at the Margarita's in Concord, which is located in an old jail house. The layout of the place is very cozy with separate lounge and dining areas and most of the tables are inside old jail cells, walls are painted colorful with festive decor.
Like other Margaritas locations, the menu offers a good variety of Americanized Mexican dishes, though it seemed like the menu here had less items than other locations (ie Manchester & Salem/ no fish burrito here?). I stopped here on a Tuesday evening for dinner, parking on the street is free after 5PM in Concord (vs after 8PM in Manchester), which influenced my decision to eat at this Margaritas for a change. Upon entering the restaurant, the host stand is located in the vestibule and I was seated promptly, though my table was upstairs and I had to make three turns inside to get to my jail cell for dinner.
The waitress arrives to my table promptly with complementary chips & salsa, the standard crispy salty chips and chunky medium salsa. I immediately order dinner and it since it was Tuesday, they had a March special with all Shrimp dishes/items were half price (half price chimichangas & enchiladas are offered on Tuesdays in April).
For a starter, I ordered Shrimp Tacos (2 for $11.99 before discount), which each had three soft grilled shrimp, salsa fresca, roasted corn salsa, lettuce, picante, hacienda and crema on soft flour tortillas The shrimp tacos were good and fresh, though I would not normally pay over $13 with tax for two tacos and no sides.
For dinner, the Shrimp Fajitas ($16.99 before discount), were served on a hot skillet with tender grilled shrimp, grilled onions, peppers, Mexican rice, & refried beans (I did specify black beans though) and another plate with 4 soft flour tortillas, diced tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream. lettuce, cheese. The fajitas were good and very hot, and the portion size was average.
The service here was good and friendly. My waitress brought out extra chips and salsa after I finished the first round and more ice water. The food arrived to my table in timely order, but it took a while to cash out since the place started to get a little busier and I was upstairs too. The food was discounted at half off, Shrimp Tacos (2 for $5.99 plus tax) and the Shrimp Fajitas ($8.50 plus tax), which made the prices pretty reasonable. The food here was good and the standard quality I get at other Margaritas locations.
