Margo Utomo Eco Resort

I stayed here as part of an Intrepid tour around Java. The room was very comfortable and had everything one would expect in it. The hotel grounds were so nice - you can get an idea from my photos. There was a large pool which was enjoyable. The restaurant had a nice menu and the food was good. And the breakfast buffet was good too. The hotel has its own bakery which also supplies local shops. There is also a dairy and visitors can tour both of these. My stay was short, but very enjoyable.

What a wonderful place to stay! The hotel is set in a beautiful, well-maintained garden and offers complete tranquility. It’s the perfect spot to truly unwind. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Truly Margo Utomo was an incredible stay and an experience. We stayed here for three nights mainly to see Sukamade. They have a day tour there which includes all meals/drinks, a guide, driver, stay, and entrance fees. In the resort they have a delicious restaurant that we ate everyday and they also have a dairy farm and plantation. They truly made us feel at home and we had so much exploring the area!! We came for the plantation tour and stayed for lunch. The tour was great. The food delicious. The staff are fabulous. Highly recommended.

Such a friendly hotel with incredibly friendly staff. Including Micky the cat who hangs around reception. Accommodation is basic but totally fine with airco in the room and set around a lot of green with beautiful colourful plants. We really enjoyed the tour the resort organised around local ‘factories’ and plantations. Seeing how bricks, coffee, tofu, rice and aluminium cooking utensils are made was really interesting and the guide was super friendly and spoke great English & Dutch. Definitely a hidden gem and worthwhile doing. My only feedback would be to make the great products from the bakery and dairy farm more accessible for guests to purchase.

Nice resort with pretty looking houses/rooms. Service is very good from all the people that work there. Nice pool with bar and restaurant. Only issue we had where mosquitoes (also in the room) but that happens.

The only thing nice about this place is the pool and the location. It is close to the plantations so many people stay here for that reason. But there’s some nicer places nearby that I’d 100% recommend over this. Where to begin? If you care about sleep, don’t think you’ll get much here. The mosque chants at 4:00 am sharp and the room is in no way blocking that sound. It’s almost comically loud. Then if the noise didn’t wake you up, you can be sure that the unblocked sunlight did, at 6:00 am. So I guess you should wear both a mask and earplugs? The restaurant is so bug infested that we had two separate occasions where a huge cockroach fell from the ceiling right next to us! But it’s ok because they allow stray cats to sit on peoples tables and peoples chairs so they will eat the food you couldn’t. The food is nothing special, just standard Indonesian. Breakfast is not a buffet but a bland coffee with eggs any way you like. The pool is nice but there’s nothing to do. There’s a spa there where you could get a massage, something you are reminded of when they touch your wife’s back uninvited as she’s trying to catch some tan, because they want to advertise their massage services… Maybe it’s because I’m visiting in November? I don’t know but this place seems like it was much better run before. Shame. That’s why I’m writing this review, hopefully they read this and get their act together with such a beautiful building complex.

It is a very cozy resort for long stay in Banyuwangi; friendly owner, friendly staf, friendly people. I really love the place and the experience I had. I joined the activities of local people such as farming that arranged by the resort.
