Great Spot for Amazing Food Loved this place! Our group was served by the owner, which made it feel really personal and welcoming. The food was top-notch, and the service was just awesome. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Everywhere I go in Portugal the food just seems to get better and better. We ordered the caldeirada (fish stew) without the prawns and clams as my wife has allergies to shell fish. It was delicious. The fish soft and moist. Onion, tomato and potato all tasty. We also ordered the sardines but they were out. I think this was a blessing as they suggested Robalo (sea bass?) and my oh my! It was sublime. Cooked to absolute perfection with a slight about of charcoal to the skin. Best fish I've ever had. The empregadas (waitresses) were all attentive and polite and the owner/manager(?) Mariana (Maria's daughter) came out and took payment and had a chat and was so nice. A really lovely family run restaurant. I've also been learning Portuguese and the staff were happy to let me try and order and converse in Portuguese even if it's terrible, unkike some other places where they will just automatically switch to English.

Unforgettable experience! The food, the atmosphere, and especially the staff made this one of the absolute highlights of our two-week trip through Portugal. A special shoutout to the lovely waitress who gently warned us about one of the squid dishes (it’s served whole, with eyes and all) which we really appreciated. Instead, she recommended the squid kebab, and it turned out to be the best we had during our entire vacation. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the whole evening just felt like vacation at its best - relaxed, cheerful, and delicious. We’ll always remember this place and would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!

A very cozy, small, family-run restaurant with excellent food. The service is wonderful — warm and attentive. If you’re not sure what to order, try the grilled fish — you won’t be disappointed!

Fresh, local seafood, extremely flavorful and tasty. The restaurant is a very authentic little Portuguese restaurant located on a little side street just off the main street in front of the ocean. It is family run. It was so good we visited a second time on our very short trip

If you are traveling by car from Lisbon and to Porto, the best place to by stop is Maria do Mar in Nazare Beach. The sea food stews were old style hearty Portuguese food that must have enjoyed over the centuries. The owner Maria was embodiment of Portuguese hospitality and warmth. Recommend to make a reservation before you get there.

One of the best meal we had so far in our Portugo trip. The grilled sole was fresh from the day and the prawns were swimming in roasted garlic cloves, Amazing ! The clam appetizer with its sauce was to die for. Highly recommended!! Service was excellent!

Yelp
This hidden little gem isn't easy to find but once you do you're in for a treat !!! The fish stews are the way to go but everything was fantastic!!! Everything is covered in olive oil and lemon and so fresh right from the sea!! The owner is a beautiful woman who seems to know everyone even us !! You're going to love her just as much of the food!! There were so many different people, locals, Americans, Germans and Asians all packed into this small room to enjoy and intimate meal together!!!
