Maria Kek Lapis Sarawak

I quite like the cake I bought, even though I didn’t get a lot. I tried the Original and the Cheese. Both were very moist, even after bringing them back to KL, which is impressive. My only issue is the packaging. The plastic containers used are not all the same size, so the cheese one was squeezed into a smaller box and ended up a bit squished at the side by the time I opened it. Generally it’s ok but really could be better. Sweetness-wise, it does have some sweetness, but I find it pairs well with coffee. Also, we don’t eat the whole slice at once, usually just one or two bites - so the sweetness level was acceptable for me. It is not overly sweet to the point of being unpleasant, but yes, you will taste some sweetness. Regarding staff, they were neither friendly nor unfriendly - just doing their job. Not as warm as what some other reviews mentioned, but nothing bad either. Cheese version is RM10 and the Original is RM15. Nov 2025. Credit card is accepted.

Has a huge varieties of kek lapis, and there’s samples available to try before you buy. You don’t have to buy any particular one if you can’t make up your mind, as you can get a box that has 5 different flavours in it. It’s a little too sweet for my liking though.

I have to say for someone like me who has a sweet tooth and love pastries, walking into this shop is like visiting the wonderland. Never before have I experienced seeing so many colours, flavours and combinations of kek lapis (we call it kueh lapis) in my life. It was also very difficult to make decision inside the shop because there was just so many to choose from. There are so many flavours I liked but I just had to exercise self control. Prices are pretty consistent across all with some slight premium flavours with slightly higher prices. What I loved most was the sampling table, not corner. One can almost try every flavour here before deciding what you want but I be too embarrassed to do that. It was a tough mental fight that I had to narrow down to only getting two. Am quite impressed that the lapis are pretty well made and could last for quite a while if you store it properly in the fridge. I think its quite a wallet friendly shop and the sizes for the lapis you want can discuss with the shop owner. The smallest one is like a slab which is typically 10RM is already pretty big for 1-2 people for sharing. Pretty enjoyable as a snack and good as souvenirs from Kuching as well.

My favourite place for Kek Lapis at carpenter Street 👍👍 This time bought it for my cousins in West Malaysia, they love it so much! Price is reasonable and staffs are friendly 😊😊🙏

RM 5 can purchase a box of mixed flavored cake, which is a good bargain.

Don't WhatsApp them, they wouldn't reply. Reason being, too busy. So you want to book anything, call them up or go direct to the shop. Was there to redeem my fave coupon for lotus biscoff cheesecake. It is a lovely cake. Taste good but the lotus biscoff biscuits too sweet for my liking.
