Excellent service, great location and nice rooms. The rooms are all positioned within a long corridor which looks a little like an airport, but once you get in they are spacious, well appointed and clean. Showers are fab, there is a coffee machine and fridge (we had deluxe rooms). Breakfast is great - everything you’d expect and more. Hot & cold options, with waffles etc. The only gripe is that there’s only one coffee machine which is slow and created a queue. It’s a short walk into Tavira, and the rooms have balconies which is nice. The spa is nice, with a sauna and steam room. The pool is tiny however. You need to buy a swimming cap to enter (€5) and pay a €10 deposit for towels.

We booked here because it appeared to have the best location of hotels in Tavira on offer at short notice. It is very well placed for all the tourist stuff but is currently blighted by the presence of a building site next door. Don't let this put you off unless you like sleeping in well into the morning. |All the staff here are friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet is very good but maybe less than perfect if you want to start each day with a full English breakfast. (There's a pianist!) The rooftop bar is a bonus. It was lively most nights despite it being off-season. The indoor swimming pool is small but adequate and there is a gym. The room was large enough, well-maintained and kept immaculately by the housekeeping staff. The shower was excellent. We were very happy with our choice.

We stayed 5 nights when the weather wasn’t great. We found the staff were all so friendly and welcoming - the housekeepers looked to change the rooms when you put the sign out and the restaurant staff were all attentive. Outdoor pool and bar would be great in nicer weather and the indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym were all great and included in the price. Breakfast was first class and dinner in the roof top restaurant was also very good - we’d suggest some home made desserts to make it exceptional. Definitely recommend especially as Tavira town is just 5/10 mins walk.

Friendly and helpful reception staff . Bedroom was lovely and spotless as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was good. The toiletries were pretty basic. (Conditioner shampoo and body wash all in one) If you can take your own. We are 78 and did not find the hill to the hotel a problem. We would definitely recommend this hotel but suggest you go bed and breakfast. The choices of good restaurants in Tavira is amazing. Is

We stayed 5 nights in the property completely remodelled 2017. Room entrance door is very tight so it gives you a bit wrong first impression on the room itself. not really spacious but all have balconies with table and chair, minibar. Beds are comfortable, bathroom with shower.||Breakfast with made to order cooking and high quality selection of fruits and breads, salads. ||Best in my eyes is a working Sauna and Turkishbath incl. indoor pool. in summer you have 2 outdoor pools.||Highly recommend!

We spent a week at the Maria Nova in November. We couldn't fault it. The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival. The room was clean with comfortable bed and balcony over looking the pool and salt pans. Room 226 meant we were sufficiently towards.the left side.hof.the hotel meaning we couldn't see the building site to the left. This caused no problems as they worked short days and it didn't create any noise. There was a fridge in the room and its important to leave the door of the cupboard it is in open, otherwise it doesn't cool. |The breakfast offering was variatous and a pianist played every morning who was very skilled. The coffee machines are a bit annoying and sometimes you have to wait to access them. |The indoor pool and sauna were free and the spa area was pleasant and clean. The hotel is located on a hill but getting to the centre of town was only a few minutes if you go down Rue de santana rather than turn right. There's an excellent bakery on the road behind the outdoor pool. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the Maria Nova and Tavira is simply fantastic for birdwatching on the salt pans and having a train station access to Vila Real San Antonio, Olhao and Faro is easy. We loved our time there and the hotel certainly made our stay memorable.

The hotel has a nice design and is well located. The rooms are small and the housekeeping wasn’t good. The room wasn’t properly cleaned. The rooftop restaurant / bar is really nice and the crew is very, very attentive.

Beautiful hotel, very clean. The Hotel Team were amazing!! friendly, informative and helpful, giving a lovely safe feel, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic! A great choice and a pianist that was extremely talented, and not to loud as in other reviews! Also a lovely touch of flowers for the ladies. I was presented with a beautiful cake and fizz for my Birthday from the Hotel 😍. Would recommend this hotel all day long, a great location, lovely pool and sun beds, the roof top bar has a great relaxed feel and also serves the most amazing nuts as a snack 🥰 Located in beautiful Tavira where you will experience lovely Portuguese food freshly cooked with a wonderful non pressurised service. Absolutely recommend and coming back!!

Yelp
This is a great hotel with plenty of amenities and nice rooms, for a low price. But the breakfast is what really stands out - probably the best "free" one I've ever had. Worth a stop in Tavira, just to spend a night here.

Yelp
Started out not great!!! Greeted by agent saying it's been very stressful the day!!! Was told to go behind state house and get euro but she never said it closes at 3 and it was 4:30 when she sent us! Asked for a TukTuk and was told something (lol) so confusing we never understood! Awful service. She was in a rush like we know where we are!! Very frustrating since we just flew into Lisbon this morning from Madeira and drove 2.5 hrs to here.
