A great Mexican place in Milburn, NJ with a large vegetarian selection with authentic Mexican taste and flavor. Very colorful interiors and and great food. Homemade taco chips with home made salsa in a variety of "spiciness"

Vibrant atmosphere and food. Had vegetarian chilaquiles and chicken mole enchiladas on the lunch special and both were delicious. The ranchera sauce is particularly good.

We went to Mariachi for lunch and the food was super fresh and delicious! We ordered shrimp tacos, chimichangas and enchiladas - everything was so good! Ambiance was festive, service was great - Highly recommend!!!

This place is just not good. Fried, sloppy dishes with absolutely no attention to fresh preparation or love of Mexican food. Service was robotic and average. Clean and festive inside. But uninspired dishes that all taste the same. I have been here multiple times in hopes of a better experience. Unfortunately this is my last try.

My friend and I got together for some good Mexican food. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted by the host/server and sat. It was a dimly lit restaurant. I started with the red sangria, and that was tasty. I was a little disappointed because they had no red wine for my next drink, so stuck with the sangria. For my appetizer, I got the camarones scampi, but it was a garlic shrimp, and it was tasty. My friend had the fiesta platter and I tried it and it was good. We then had the shrimp tacos, which were delicious! For my meal, I got the red snapper, and my friend had the garlic shrimp dish. I really enjoyed the red snapper, and my friend enjoyed the shrimp. We then had the dulce de leche cheesecake, which was good. We really had a good experience!

We discovered this gem of a Mexican restaurant by accident a couple of years ago. Since then it has been an ongoing love affair. Fernando and his team treat you like family! Each dish is more flavorful than the last. You will not be disappointed with the extensive selections available on the menu. They will also do their best to accommodate any special requests. They have amazing sangria. each time we leave, we cannot wait to come back! Thank you Fernando for always treating us like family and providing the best in Mexican cuisine! God Bless Blue & Gold!! The restaurant was so cool and the food was delicious! My favorite were the chorizo tacos. A huge shoutout to our server, Daniel. He was incredible! So kind, attentive, and had great suggestions!!

An amazing dining experience with authentic delicious Mexican dishes, great atmosphere.

Really great meal! Fun atmosphere, great/friendly service and food was delicious! The waiter recommended the fajitas and I'm so glad we listened, they were delicious and very filling. A little pricey but not an issue when the food is worth it! Also, I don't have children but the bathroom having a changing table and WITH diapers is so wonderful. Also very yummy sangria!

I wasn't thrilled with dining at this restaurant for a few reasons. Firstly, cocktails weren't great including the frozen sangria which felt like a slushy- the wine didn't have a great taste and there's no in-house tequila here so a lot of the menu is BYOB. Secondly, there were only a few people in the restaurant. The food itself was quite expensive compared to the overall experience, easily comparable to most establishments in Manhattan. Even though I really liked the ambiance with music and spaciousness, it felt strange spending about $100 for a dinner of two people. I did like the indoor decor and felt like the restaurant had a ton of potential but I just wasn't prepared for the sticker shock and lack of menu depth.

SORRY BUT NOT SORRY.... My bf and I visited this restaurant for Friday night dinner . The restaurant was small , intimate, and very festive. However when my bf went to the bathroom he noticed a mouse running up the wall . I immediately notified our server and we left the establishment. However The red and peach sangria was good that we drank and enjoyed prior to him seeing the mouse .

Wow worst Mexican food we ever ate Absolutely no flavor. The pork tasted sour to me. The rice has a weird flavor. The shrimp was like little shrimps from a can how embarrassing for a restaurant to serve shrimp like that we will never ever come back to this restaurant.

This was my second time here. I enjoyed the decor and ambiance of the place. The servers are super nice and accommodating. The food is really good! I feel though that the chicken in the flair as sampler I had could have used a tad bit more seasoning. The red snapper is absolutely delicious. Their sangria is excellent as well. If you're in the area, stop by, you won't be disappointed.

The place looks gorgeous! Mexican-themed decor, all in very good taste. Service was warm and friendly. The food was very good, very well seasoned, with attention given to the patrons taste. Desert was amazing, for lack of a better word. The flan...heavenly!!! The price was appropriate. I will definitely return, and share my experience with friends and family!

This place is so cute inside! Ceviche was so delicious. Service is great. They have some drinks, but you can also bring tequila and they will make you margaritas. Love this cute spot

I don't live in Millburn, but I don't think I'm a tourist either. But this restaurant has that tourist vibe. In Millburn. It is very colorfully decorated with Mexican folk art and designs with friendly if somewhat haphazard service. The food is pricey, but overall, it is very Americanized. This isn't good or bad, just factual. If you like less spicy and flavorful versions of enchiladas, you're fine. If you want something more varied or exciting, you'll be disappointed. Great place for a group since everyone can find something. Good sangria, red and peach.

Very good Mexican food, walking distance to Papermill Playhouse. Excellent service , although restaurant is very small. Will return.

Delicious ceviche and the pork tacos were delicious ! We bought our own Tequila and they made us Margaritas they were fantastic. Great Service and atmosphere!

Went to this restaurant because I saw an iG video raving about the food. What a disappointment. Got the queso fundido, it was gross. It was as if it had sat out and completely congealed before we were served. Not dippable at all. Got the Mexican enchiladas- all 3 were horrible. Worst Mole I've had, the red sauce was scarce and the green sauce was unremarkable. Place does not have a liquor license so all drinks are made with wine and pretty undrinkable. The margarita was foul. Would not go back.

Family style BYOB Mexican restaurant with fun colors, good food, and just relaxed fun vibes come here.

Right next to the book cafe, you see the Mariachi Mexican Restaurant with its beautiful outside porch. The name Mariachi makes me think of a mariachi band. Anyways, you push the door and wait for the waitress. You tell her how many people and she takes you to the seats. We get these iPad/kindle looking menus (way better than the QR codes these days). Immediately the waitress serves these on the house chips and salsa. She also brings cold water and cups for you. I got the pork tacos, nachos. My friends got the chicken quesadilla and the beef tacos. First bite, the pork was tender and juicy. Each bite, bits of the pork fell on my plate. I loved this restaurant and will definitely come back if I'm in millburn next time.

Love this place. Its BYO Bottle. The steak fajitas are so so good, meat is tender and sauce really tasty. My wife and I have been here many times and took my mother once who dresses like Frida Kahlo. The manager warmed so much to my mother he gave her a small Frida Kahlo painting that they had no space for on the walls. Very cool decor inside (think Disney Coco, day of the dead) and even sitting outside at the front in the warmer months is nice. Very nice. Can't wait to go back.

The only thing you should get here is the pork fajita. I went here with a party of 4, and we ordered the fish tacos, quesadilla and carnitas. The carnitas tasted like they were multiple days old, the fish tacos we meh and the quesadilla was basically inedible due to the sheer amount of melty cheese that gushed all over the place. And believe me, even in some cases that may be a plus, this very much was not. Some pros: it only took a half an hour for a party of 4, they had amazing guacamole and good salsa, as well as decent sized portions Cons: All that was listed above as well as the high prices. This may have been justifiable if the food wasn't disgusting, however. The surroundings were nice, lots of pretty art everywhere, and there was no trouble ordering. Food 4/10 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4/5

Popped in pre-show at Paper Mill Playhouse. Cute place, lots of character. Easy walk to/from venue. Service was good. Menu did not reflect tacos came with rice and beans. We were ordering as a side when waitress informed us. Menu on iPad not a favorite. I had pork tacos, hubby beef. Split a 1/2 pitcher of sangria. Food was very good, reasonably priced. This will be our new go to place when we head to the Paper Mill.

I like Mexican food. Mexican cuisine is awesome. So awesome that I'm always willing to give new places a try. I've said this before about other places like this. The food is good, especially when it comes to tacos, BUT so are a lot of other places and as someone else mentioned we got Millburn prices going on big time. 3 Carne Asada tacos for almost $16?? c'mon. (Yes I know steak) But the main offerings here are all noticeably higher than your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Again though, it was good as was the Queso fundido app that we got. I'd recommend. The service was good. We came on Halloween and the host was dressed the part which was nice and the patio has a very unique heating system to adjust with the way we have to dine now present pandemic, but about a 3rd of the way into our meal it shut off and I'm not sure they were having some difficulty but it didn't come back on and we cut the visit a bit short as it got cold quick. So my verdict is it's a decent enough Mexi spot but you will pay. I'm a bit spoiled by other spots that have more competitive prices and better tacos. If they can get the seating and heating down smooth though I could see coming again for the convenience of it.

We loved the food and atmosphere. Great mocktail margarita. Upon sitting we were served complimentary chips and salsa that was good. We ordered the burrito with red sauce on top and green sauce on the side (so yummy!). It was stuffed with potatoes, zucchini and carrots that were perfectly spiced and filling with the rice and beans on the side. Really good spices and the service was great too! Definitely coming again.

I meet up here semi-regularly with a group of friends. We have a great time every time we come here. It's a little slow service, but we're never in any rush, so it doesn't bother us. The food is well prepared and yummy, and they always accommodate any changes we may request. The restaurant is outside the main stretch in Millburn, so parking is normally a little easier. During the pandemic, they had an amazing outdoor setup and I hope it's back this summer! It was damaged over the winter and it was all taken down the past couple times I was there. Hopefully next time I'm there it's back!

The decor is terrific and the staff is friendly. The menu has so many things I like that I have to go back and keep trying new items but what I had was terrific. I had the combination platter which was a burrito a chimichanga and an enchilada with chicken beef and taco meat, different in each one and three different sauces (Red, Green and Mole) . All were excellent and the staff was happy to accommodate any substitutions or add-ins that I wanted. This sangria was very good and the salsa was smooth and tasty. My wife really enjoyed the guacamole They have separate areas for groups as well. Can't wait to go back!

I'm giving them two stars because my four year old daughter enjoyed their very "not spicy" and frankly extremely bland tacos. So if I ever need to get tacos for her, this is the place to go. For the sake of buying local and supporting millburn, I chose this over neighboring town's more authentic tacos. For adults however, it was a unfulfilling dump in our stomachs. We finished the food because we try very hard to show our kids not to waste food, but it was the most British food we have found in millburn. Ok, there is one other place that rivals this, but that's for another day. They managed to even find the most tasteless onions and cilantro to go with the meal. I'm honestly amazed at how dry, tasteless and soulless the tacos were. We spent over $100 on various flavors so I'm certain the bland theme is a theme and not a mistake. Pastor tacos: tasted a little smoky and only the pineapples added good flavor (meat was flavorless) Steak tacos: just dry, unflavored cubes of beef, no color to them, looked as though it was just boiled Pork tacos: dry, a tiny bit of flavor Chicken crispy taco: my husband didn't want to finish it, kids didn't want to try it either. The shell was completely soggy Ground beef crispy taco: this filling actually had some taste, was ok... but again soggy shell Last but not least the chips that they include. The chips are amazingly flavorful and taste normal! However, the "salsa" tasted like diluted canned tomato sauce. It was so diluted the chips flavor overpowered the salsa! Insane! So all tacos came with a heaping amount of rice and beans. Completely unnecessary. While they were tasty, it was just a distraction. By the end of the meal, I had a heavy 2 pound bowl of rice and beans left over. All tacos also came with a green sauce and onions and cilantro. As I said, the onions and cilantro magically have no taste either. The green sauce usually is the savior for bland tacos, but was no better. It gave no kick, no semblance of the typical green sauce that customers hoard at most Mexican restaurants. My husband and I were in awe by the end of the meal. I am writing this review as a warning to other flavor bomb seekers as well as a reminder for myself... avoid unless kids are eating

Ate here for the first time with my wife. Cute place decorated with authentic imported Mexican decor. It a BYOB that also serves a limited wine menu and sangria. It was taco Tuesday which features a four taco dinner at a reduced price. They also provide the Margarita mix if you bring your own tequila. I had the tacos , shrimp and steak, Very good and my wife had the garlic shrimp, which she loved. For desert we shared the homemade flan and it was amazing. I'd highly recommend trying this place.

I have wanted to eat at this spot in Millburn for a long time, and tonight I finally tried out this place: They have an abundance of outdoor seating, which is great for summer dining. The establishment has terrific decor, making it a very festive atmosphere. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive at all points during the meal. He was complimentary and was probably the best server that I have had since dining out post-pandemic. Like many Mexican restaurants, you will get unlimited chips and salsa for the table. We ordered ceviche, which was fresh and served in a taco shell. I ordered a chicken taco salad for dinner, which was tasty, and my friend ordered veal which she was pleased with. For dessert, we order churros which came with chocolate ice cream. The churros were delicious, but the chocolate syrup could have been better. Overall we had a great experience. I cannot wait to come back to sample other items on the menu.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got around to it. Food was excellent and the service was terrific. Been looking for a local Mexican place my husband and I both agree on and this is it! Will definitely be back.

Great spot for Mexican. Everything we all had was excellent! The fajitas, guacamole, tacos and tres leches cake were amazing!

This place, a sister restaurant to one with the same name in Metuchen, is new addition to the Millburn restaurant scene. Prices on the dinner menu are a little high, but on par with the prices in town. Lunch menu prices are better. We did take-out this time but the dining room is bright and festive. The shrimp enchiladas and shrimp quesadillas were good. Shrimps were tasty and not greasy at all. Guac was also good, loaded with cilantro and lime, and the Spanish sausage quesadilla was tasty. Food was packed well and was very tasty. Pass on the chicken soup, though. Almost 6 bucks for tasteless, watery soup with one piece of chicken (with a bone) and no rice, despite the menu description.

Fantastic restaurant! Great food, great service. Drove by and stopped in on a whim. Would definitely recommend and will be back! Had the empanadas, enchiladas and tacos. The tres leches and flan are to die for!

Mexican is our favorite so we decided to try Mariachi in Millburn. We went around 5:30pm and it was pretty much empty which I thought was strange for a Saturday night. The decor is festive but it was very dark inside. My mom ordered steak and I had the lobster enchiladas. Both were very underwhelming. It tasted like something I could make at home myself. The retried beans tasted exactly like they were out of a can. We were going to order guacamole but it was $12.95. I asked if there was a smaller portion and the waitress said no. The best thing we had was the free chips and salsa. The service was fine but we won't be returning. There's far better Mexican spots in the area. Toro Loco in South Orange is a very good location as well as Don Jose in East Hanover. Both are much more reasonably priced than Mariachi.

To start off the food was absolutely amazing!!! The fajitas was hands down the best I ever had! The service is incredible especially Daniel he is so kind. It was a beautifully decorated restaurant with an authentic ambiance. Overall an amazing restaurant definitely recommend going.

ordered take out from this place for NYE! I've been passing by this place for awhile and really wanted to dine in, but due to COVID and just everything going on we decided to pick up our order and eat at home. I ordered online, it was easy to order online and just make your selection. Online, there was no option to order vegetarian food, but it was a quick call to the rest and the friendly service made sure this was update. Once we got the food, the portions were big and tasty. The food was overall good. I hope to try this place for dine in soon!

Let me start by saying that I don't like Mexican food. My boyfriend and my friends like it so I go along being a good sport! This place was wonderful! Guacamole was so fresh and flavorful we almost got a second order of it (stopped ourselves since we had a lot of food coming!) the ceviche was amazing, a perfectly balanced taste explosion with every bite! Camarones scampi, queso fundido, quesadillas, tacos and fajitas mariachi were all excellent. The interior was well decorated and our waiter was attentive without being cloying or annoying. A delightful experience on a Wednesday night! We will be back.

Dined here this evening as a rare night out during the pandemic. I am not here to bash businesses during the pandemic as I know all are trying their best but the experience was really not great and the reason why I am even writing this is because this restaurant handled everything very poorly and were not apologetic at all for the experience, which is why they are getting a review to start. We got there and they put us at a nice socially distanced table across from the main tables..in front of someone's house. Normally it would have been odd but to socially distanced we were fine. We asked if they had drinks, they said yes. Then we ordered and they said "oh we don't have drinks it's a byob but there is a liquor store down the street" - so it's byob. Please note. They don't make that very clear. Then we ordered food. We waited and waited and waited. One hour later after watching everyone else dine and leave..we still weren't served our food. After the hour, we finally got up and said something. The manager/person in charge came out and said "there are parties in front of you your food is coming out in 15 minutes". When we walked in over an hour before, those parties weren't there. We told him we were here before and we were thinking of leaving the guy got really defensive and said "okay you can leave". There was no apology or acknowledgement that they messed up. By that time we were not happy with the service and wait so we started to get up and leave when the waitress came out and said "your food is coming out now..you can leave but it's coming out now!" So we stayed...and the plates were piping hot meaning they food was sitting under the warmer for awhile. She apologized. I think she was the only server so I wasn't as upset with her, sort of felt bad since it seemed like she was doing her best to run the show, but the man in charge was just really rude/defensive and made it seem like he was surprised that we even said anything after sitting there for one hour after being acknowledged. In summary, the food isn't good enough to justify going here and rude people are never cool (even during a pandemic) so I won't be returning. If it weren't for the attitude, again, I wouldn't even be writing this review and would have given them a pass.

First time here, and taking them down a notch. Beef used for our fajitas did not taste or seem fresh; rather, it was heavily seasoned to cover up its funk. Guac ($12) had too much lime juice and was very acidic, and overall, the flavors were just off. Wasn't enjoyable. Sorry, but they did charge premium pricing for their food...I would expect freshness and better flavors at this price point.

Out of the box franchise lacking in authenticity. Barely sauced enchiladas, black beans strait from the can, and dry dry rice. There were plenty of tables, yet it took several minutes to seat us as the hostess was away from her post. It was another long wait to place the order and then to get our food. Not to mention the overly loud music blaring from the speakers. It was difficult to have a conversation. I was looking fora go to Mexican restaurant, this is not it.

This place is killing it during COVID-19 -- I have been here the past few weekends and the service and food have both been excellent. The space itself is very well set up with proper distancing measures, cleanliness, etc. The atmosphere is great too with colorful decorations and paintings. Service was awesome -- the wait staff was super attentive and took great care of us. They even offered to move us into another room so that we could watch the TV, and set us up with the remote with full cable. I would come back just for the service alone. However, the food is also great. The shrimp tacos, guacamole, and steak nachos were all delicious, and I can't wait to try more dishes. For dessert, go with the Très Leches -- you won't regret it. Don't forget to BYOB, as they've also got some awesome margarita mixers.

I don't know how to give a -start This is not the first time this happens The delivery never arrived, I've called the restaurant and as always they don't want to take responsibility of its own mistakes I placed an order at 7:30 via Grubhub and it was confirmed via email, supposedly it will arrive at 8:40-8:50 and guess what? It never did. I've called the restaurant and they say: Grubhub canceled all the orders. Apparently this was all

Mariachi is an eclectic cozy little place. Very colorful inside and out, brightly painted tables and chairs with papel picado banners stretched across the ceiling. Menu has a good variety of items including many vegetarian and seafood options. The crab enchiladas are fresh and flavorful with plenty of crabmeat. Service is attentive and prompt. I thought it was a little pricy for a late lunch ($15-17) whenI first saw the menu but after I tasted the food I felt it was worth it and I rarely feel that way. An excellent choice for lunch or dinner. Edited to add: I am shocked this restaurant ever received low reviews. If something was wrong when it first opened and it merited bad reviews it has clearly been fixed now. Don't bypass this restaurant because of earlier poor reviews.

I have no clue how this restaurant stays in business. The food is sooooo terribly bland and they do not have a liquor license (so sorry, no margaritas). Even the chips and salsa has no taste. Service was okay which is the only saving grace. I really wanted to like this place as it is walking distance from my house but it's a no-go for me.

Looking at the reviews and was shocked to see so many negative comments. My wife and I had an AMAZING outdoor experience. Food was great, ambiance was beautiful, & our waitress was phenomenal. We will be visiting again for another #DateNight

This review is for service only. The place had ample seating outdoors and was considerably empty but for some confounding reason couldn't accommodate our party because they had ONE reservation for 6. Apparently they just couldn't push any of the many empty outdoor tables together to seat us. A place that makes no effort to accommodate customers when they could easily have doesn't deserve my money.

A great fun place if you're in Millburn area. Although both times, the place was very busy. We were able to get table right away. Service is good, could improve on timing but overall everyone served with a smile. BYOB place-makes excellent Sangria and Margs. Food was fantastic no complaints.

This place is adorable, the guacamole is fantastic, entrees and sangria so great too. So glad to have found a solid Mexican sit-down restaurant in the area!

We have lived in the area for 3.5 years and finally found a great local Mexican restaurant! We went to Mariachi to celebrate our kids' birthday, planning to dine outside, but the weather was so bad we decided to go inside IF we felt comfortable with their safety precautions. Fortunately, they are well set up with plastic sectioning off tables and keeping parties safely distanced. The food is was very tasty, particularly the guacamole, delicious salmon fajitas and the shrimp tacos, which my somewhat picky son devoured! Special shout out to our waiter Carlos, who couldn't have been more friendly, attentive and kind. I too hope people ignore the negative reviews and give Mariachi a try. They are a very welcome addition to the Millburn area and we'll be back soon.
