Mariam Hotel is definitely a bit dated, but in general it’s not a bad hotel. There were a lot of positive aspects during my stay, but I have to be honest about the negatives too, which I will elaborate on later.||Firstly location is excellent. Everything is within walking distance, and you’re surrounded by a multitude of cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores.||I didn’t really converse a lot with the staff, but everyone seemed friendly enough.||Breakfast was quite substantial, and I really liked that most items were clearly labelled.||There are filtered water stations throughout the building where you can refill your water bottles for free. ||WiFi was very good.||My room was spacious, comfortable, and despite being a little worn around the edges - it was clean. Bedding and towels smelled fresh. ||Now for the negative issues, which I feel I need to be honest about so you can make an informed choice about booking based on facts:||I was there for 2 nights, during my stay I had 4 showers - 3 of which were freezing cold. I thought maybe this was due to the water being heated by solar panels, as the only time I had a relatively warm shower was at around 4pm. If this is the case, good luck during the winter months!||The wardrobe/cupboard had a damp musty smell. I was going to hang some clothes up, but decided not to. There was also a blanket in there which I was going to use, but that smelt like mildew. ||Maybe I just got unlucky with my room, as plenty of other people seemed to really enjoy their stay. But because of what I experienced I would not stay here again, not unless the management could guarantee these issues had been resolved.
