The overall food quality was disappointing. The dishes were excessively salty, which unfortunately masked any other intended flavor. Furthermore, based on my experience traveling to Japan over ten times, I was very disappointed.

Good not great. The good: The food was delicious, very tender meat, delightful broth and fun to grill. The smell is so nice with all the coal and herbs cooking. The restaurant itself is also very nice, beautiful furnishings taking you to Japan. The service was very nice and attentive. The not so good: We ordered a 2020 red wine, they gave us 2022. When we pointed this out they said they had a printing error, and gave us 9 euros off the bottle, not sure that covered the quality difference or feeling like they were trying to get away with giving us another wine. We had to catch this error no one was going to tell us! The menu price is very high for the cuts of meat you get. You feel full because there are lots of courses, but not from the tiny meat slices you get which are the real stars. In Japan we got much bigger portions. The other real weird part was the seating. We arrive at 20:30 and the restaurant was full. They sat us at a sort of communal table where two couples sit side by side facing each other. It was my partners birthday so it would have been nice to have a better table. But it doesn’t stop there. Since we were sat with people half way done they finished first and then we were basically rushed out of the restaurant to free up the table. We couldn’t finish our bottle of wine or desserts. They said there was a second service at 22:30. So we had to leave. What was odd was the restaurant at that point had about 5 empty tables and when we left not a soul was at the door or outside on the street. If they needed a four top table (which I’m dubious about) why didn’t they put two reservations arriving at the same time together so they finished roughly at the same time instead of rushing us. It was a horrible way to end the night just as you are paying a 400€ bill. Work to be done here before I’d recommend!

We were dine-in for our New Year’s Eve dinner 2024. Our experiences were extraodinary, optimistically wonderful for a night in Paris. To find a good restaurant in Paris ain’t that hard, but Marie Akaneya was literally outstanding compared to other Japanese restaurants in Europe. Within a great location, the restaurant has limited tables, private ambiences, professional trained staffs, and exclusive touch of Japanese cuisine, which made it unforgettable for us. Looking forward to seeing you guys get Michelin star. :-)

Very intimate and cozy atmosphere! I almost felt like I was back in Japan for a few hours... Excellent, subtle and generous food, from starters to desserts. Recommendations on how to cook the meat were very clear and the staff was available and discreet. They were very cautious about allergies and that was appreciated. To watch all the rituals and the meticulous cleaning at each step was an incredible experience! I'd definitely recommend for a great souvenir :)

Marie Akaneya was a unique experience from start to finish. From the moment you step in you feel how proud they are of the high quality ingredients they serve. My husband and I chose the Akaneya menu, which is the most recommended for customers visiting the first time. I could go here for hours saying how good the food was, from start to finish Marie Akaneya offers you texture, balance, cohesion, and each bite is an explosion of flavours. The deserts added a special touch, cleaning and refreshing your palate at the end. But what really fascinated me was the Japanese barbecue. Each table has its own charcoal grill, creating an immersive experience where you become the chef, using the herbs and seasoning provided to grill your own Wagyu beef. The atmosphere is very intimate, we felt very comfortable and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and attentive, always checking on us and the communication wasn’t a problem as they all speak English. I’d totally recommend Marie Akaneya for people who wants to experience a traditional Japanese cuisine, barbecue driven and I for sure see myself coming back in the near future to try the other menus as well ☺️

Disappointing Experience I came here with high expectations, eager to enjoy authentic Japanese barbecue, but unfortunately, I left disappointed. The portions of meat were incredibly small and sliced too thin—there were no thick cuts to truly savor. While I appreciate the effort to create an authentic experience in terms of atmosphere, service, and presentation, the quality of the food simply didn’t meet the mark. I visit Japan often, and aside from the miso soup, edamame, and the final dish of Matsuzaka-gyu, everything else was below average. To make things worse, many items on the menu were either unavailable or had run out, which was frustrating for a restaurant of this caliber. The biggest letdown was the rice. For a high-end Japanese restaurant, serving such poor-quality white rice is unacceptable. It’s a fundamental element of Japanese cuisine, and they failed to get it right. Overall, this was a disappointing experience, and I won’t be returning.

Overall, it was such a great experience for the special day. We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We love Wagu and it was a great opportunity to try different Wagu as well. The food was salty overall. But I guess you can ask more unsalted broth to add into your udon soup. And there was pretty a lot of salt on the beef but you could also remove salt.. I agree that shrimps were salty as well but i think this is the way of cooking shrimps. But, the service was great and I love their beef. All of the each piece was tender and good. However, i agree that if you don’t know how to cook the meat on the grill it might be difficult to cook.. For us, we do have many experiences doing bbq at home or in Korea so it was fine but otherwise it would be difficult. Overall, we were satisfied and would love to come back another time

Very intimate experience around exceptional products and a very friendly staff. Other comments mention it would be worth having the staff cook the beef for you given its quality and the overall price ; I can understand this opinion, but it wasn't a bother to us. The only slight downside is that depending on the tables, you have the evac chimney in front of you, having you wiggle to have your +1 in sight.
