Google
A small delightful place for you #burger lovers. There are many flavors and this a a very popular place. I love their burgers and its hidden gem are its potato wedges. Its yummy and crispy. They also have tasty baby burgers for kids. You can also sit outside and eat and enjoy the prenzlauerberg view. Try these when you are around. #berlin #tasty

Google
Delicious burgers for either lunch or dinner. This place seems really popular with the local work crowd for lunch time. So it may be difficult to get a seat (only a few benches to sit at). So you may want to consider getting take away. The staff are really friendly and nice. And the burgers are huge! Got two or the house special burger, two drinks and some chips for just under €20.

Google
Good quality burgers made and served by locals in a quiet street of the charming Prenzlauer Berg. The original Marien-(Double)Burger for 8€ is not really a sensation but still, it was very good and it should satisfy every appetite. We also tried the vegetarian Halloumi Burger for 6,5€ and it was well prepared. The service was nice. Wondering if in winter the space of the small burger shop is sufficient. However, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Google
Delicious burgers with wonderful dining experience. We ordered BBQ and Chili (Achtung! Very spicy!) burgers. The fries were tasty as well. The staff were friendly and we had a wonderful time here. After that, we didn't have bad stomach ☺️and are now considering to go there again!

Google
I'm pretty picky about my hamburgers and have had some of the best in los angeles . This is by far the best i have had so far in Berlin, and at a much better price than some of them. You even get a warm indoors friendly kind of little place, if of the informal wooden bar stool sort and not sit-down tables as such. The decor is bright but welcoming and cosy. Definitely an American theme , the music was chill and western, i think Hawaiian too. Every week they have a different special burger and the one i had was pretty good as well (something like the Big ben burger, although a picky British poorest might say they use the wrong kind of beans really isn't a thing that matters). Definitely go there!

Google
Loved the burgers and the atmosphere. The burgers are large and tasty, good vegaterian selection and they carry potatoes wedges as well as sweet potatoes.

Miguel Rodríguez

Google
Nice burgers! They do have have mini-burguers for children as well and vegetarian options (their spelt one is really good).

Chris Nutt

Google
The 3 stars does not mean the burger is bad, it was for me, just OK. If you're in the area, give it a try. I'm always on the search for the best burger and find that everyone has different preferences. The two guys behind the counter are nice and play good music. I would use better meat and buns for the burgers, although some of my friends swear by this place. All in all, give it a try!
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
I got the Marienburger. The meat is good quality, sauce is nice, and the salad decent. Bun is thin. Still, it was a simple burger done well. Might be tough to get a seat in peak times but I like the small, crowded atmosphere.

Yelp
Pretty solid All-American style burgers at a good price! The burgers here are pretty huge, served in classic Americana styles. The fries here are great, the buns are crispy and pretty much everything about the burger is satisfying--but the patties themselves are kind of meh. They are crispy and juicy on the outside but kind of have a texture on the inside that feels un-fresh and filler-y. However, service here is great; some of the only outwardly friendly service I've seen in Berlin, and the burgers come out really fast.
google avatar

Yelp
MarienBurger has all the character and ambiance of a local hangout instead of the now all-too-common line of tourists out the door with guidebooks in hand. The patties are clearly pre-formed and the weakest part of their offering, but they grill them up nice with a proper amount of char, and then ladle on the delicious toppings. Colleen C. has the right of it on ordering; you go in and order from the grill first. Don't worry about drinks or anything. They don't care. Just let them know what they need to cook up. Then grab your drinks, find a seat and wait for your order to be yelled out. Return your plates at the end (there are tiny bins scattered around) and pay by letting them know what you had, drinks and all. Burgers are cheap (3-6 EUR) and each menu option has a "baby" variant that's a bit smaller and about a Euro cheaper. Sides (fries, wedges) are 1-2 EUR and giant bottles of ketchup and mayo come gratis. The "chili-cheeseburger", which like most places in Berlin, isn't American chili but rather a *spicy* burger with jalapeños, cheese spread and a spicy red sauce. It's a tasty, gooey mess. The wedges are also pretty satisfying. If you opt for the sour cream, know that it's more like an herb cheese dip than sour cream. Still good, but different than what I was expecting. A full meal (burger, side, drink) should set you back no more than 9 EUR.

Yelp
0 stars for the burger, 5 stars for the service. Respectful and welcoming staff. Unfortunately, food was subpar. Frozen burger patty, with no flavor or seasoning. Fries were undercooked, and saturated in oil. I am not quite sure where the good reviews (which we used to find this place) come from. We couldn't eat more than a couple bites, and left hungry to find another place to eat. I do not recommend this place. We tried burgers at another popular restaurant in Berlin, the day before, and left extremely satisfied.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my gosh. Love love love this place. The reviews on this place are 100% accurate, I couldn't believe it. This is hands down not only the best burger in Berlin, but perhaps the best I have had in Europe so far. The patty is perfectly cooked, well seasoned, the cheese is melty and plentyful.! The wedges were awesome, ketchup is free, staff is nice, and the burger bun is soft, even looking homemade, and for the menu price pick any drink (including beer) for the same price. For about 20 Euros for a couple, both having the menu option with .5L beers and a tip? Not bad at all. This place is for sure worth the detour off the main tourist areas. If I am in Berlin again I will be back!!! Get the menu option- then pick any drink and it's the same price!

Yelp
If it's one those days when you are craving a burger, then come here! If you also starving and REALLY need a burger, then no joke, just get here. Some of the first things I noticed were silverware that was readily available on the counter... which confused me, because they're burgers... completely makes sense once you see what you order. MarienBurger was so good and the staff is friendly. It's a small joint, so taking it to-go is okay too. I ordered the MarienBurger (partially b/c I can't read German, so picking this burger that has the same name as the place seemed like a good idea). I had to pick my jaw up when I saw how big it was (which was pointless, since I had to stretch my mouth back open to eat this juicy beast). It has 2 HEARTY patties and your regular fixings on a burger, plus bacon. The burger itself was probably at least 3.5 inches tall - I don't understand how people can eat this with a side of fries... Make sure to wipe your hands with the packaged wet napkins they supply!

Yelp
Alright, I may not know German food so well (though I am trying, and LOVING it!)...but I do know a damn good burger, and MarienBurger has 'em. This little burger joint was buzzing on Sunday evening when my mom and I walked over around 6pm. We grabbed two fizzy beverages from the cooler (Aloha Mango/Lime for her, Rhubarb cooler for me) and placed our order for two cheeseburgers with fries. Then we kind of stood around looking confused. So let me help you with this part: 1. Go in. 2. Try to sort of catch the guy's eye. He's friendly. 3. Order. Grab drinks (self-service): pop the tops at the counter. 4. GO outside, grab a seat. 5. Wait for him to yell out your order name loudly in German. However, even if you are english speaking most of the burger names are in english, so you'll be fine. 6. Grab your burgers from him at the counter. 7. Go back outside, hope no one has stolen your seat (limited seating!) 8. Scarf those delicious burgers, douse the fries with catsup and mayo, go to town. 9. Bring your plates back in. 10. Pay in cash. Very, very tasty and juicy burgers coming out of this small operation. It was my "last supper of sorts" as I head down the 3-month gauntlet of "getting married," so what better way to go out than with a huge burger 'n fries bang!? Indeed. Seating is limited outside, but tables turn fast. If there is nowhere to sit get your order to go and walk a few meters to the park. Many benches and sweet sunshine. Total cost: 14 euros: 2 drinks, 2 cheeseburgers (HUGE!), 2 orders of fries. Wetnaps for good measure. A good deal no matter how you chew it. Another great burger in Berlin. I'm starting to think they do 'em better than the Americans. ps. they also have "baby" burgers...for those with a little less room in their tummies, or just smaller tummies of children, I suppose.

Yelp
Small burger place, well known by locals. I come here with my husband for 4 years already (since we've moved to Berlin) and it's the same quality and the same people working here. I consider this to be a good sign. Right now they offer veggie burger! No toilet alas
google avatar

Samantha T.

Yelp
The food gets 5 stars in my opinion -- I immediately regretted getting a Baby Burger after my first bite. The sauce they use on the burgers is almost spot-on identical with the sauce from the American west coast favorite, In-n-Out Burger. The fries were also super delicious. Prices are good. Although some may argue that its hole-in-the-wall character is part of its charm, I think it's really annoying that there is not much seating and that the music inside is too annoying to be able to sit inside anyway.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
We've heard amazing things about this place and met a friend here for a burger date. We'd been forewarned about the wait, but we got in to the TINY shop no problem for lunch on a weekday. In winter - it has got to be a problem to find a seat. I love the names of the burgers like my Sophia Lauren with rucola & mozzarella. The buns were good and the burgers were huge & juicy. Sides (fries/potato wedges) were a average, but decently priced. Burgers were a little more expensive, but of a bigger than average size. I enjoyed the meal, but was left with a little bit of a greasy gut bomb. Definitely good, but I am surprised it has such a phenomenal reputation.
google avatar

Tara M.

Yelp
Pretty great veggie burger, epic fries, no nonsense burger joint. Only problem is that the inside was a a bit too small... But who cares when you can relive being 13 and listen to classics like the Ramones or Bad Religion? Burger + RnR = food baby bliss
google avatar

Mohammed G.

Yelp
Their Burgers are cool - especially the Sophia-Loren-Burger with Blue Cheese - but to be honest, their patties don't feel so fresh to me. It's not that they don't taste good, but what sets a Burger apart is how fresh and juicy it is. Nevertheless, the portions are good, the fries and wedges are awesome. The place is a little too small with outdoor seating which makes it more suitable for the summer than the winter.
google avatar

Kifah A.

Yelp
My friends and co-workers have been talking about this place for a while. So i was "forced" to visit it yesterday, since i got out of the tram, and it was raining like hell...and luckily it was few meters away, so there i was. I order a standard burger with potatoe wedges. And it was the best i have tried in Germany sofar. And with a total of 7 euros with a drink, more than fair. I only wish they had more spots to sit, since i had to eat standing up for a minute, until one spot was free.
google avatar

Elliott P.

Yelp
Wont go again. My stomach has been queasy all day today. I can't be certain it was their hamburger, but my friend also ate there and told me he got sick too. In any case, theres far better burgers in Prenz. If they are aiming to be an authentic American burger you get at like a food stand at a baseball game, then yea, i guess this is correct: Kraft singles cheese, frozen patties, and dripping in grease.
google avatar

Seán S.

Yelp
I just had a normal cheeseburger but it was fantastic. (edit) I should have said before that the burger was very large and I couldn't finish it and the chips I ordered with it... Contrary to others' comments here I didn't find the staff to be unfriendly at all. They were extremely busy and handling everything nicely. This review was written in 2008.

Yelp
Update: Had to go down to 3 stars. First of all, I never waited that long, at least not that I remember. The people working there are all pretty friendly too. But food-wise, not that great. The meat, I've had better. It's a frozen paddy and it cannot match those at other Burger joins in FHain and XBerg. Then, the cheese. Really disgusting. :( The people who had a cheese burger and are not complaining about the manufactured cheese -- what is wrong with you? Even McD and BK do it better. The last 2 burgers I tried, especially the vegetarian burger, were so juicy that they fell apart before anyone touched it. There's just something about putting veggies on a burger that's apparently non-trivial. Yeah, this is finger food, but this is an extreme and I just hate to make a mess. Last but not least: oversalted. There's like a crust around everything, which makes you buy drinks. The bottom line, I never had cramps and I can ignore the obnoxious Prenzlauer Berg crowd. That's not why I changed my rating from five to three. The food is just not great when you had the competition. People get confused when they see Neuland on the door -- must be good. But that's not all. Cooking a burger requires a little attention to the product. Can't just push a paddy in a bun. I really suggest that the die hard fans here check out Burgeramt, Burgermeister, Fritiersalon or even Yellow Sunshine instead. ---- Marienburger is a burger joint in Winskiez (or something). The menu is pretty comprehensive, price-wise it's not as good as Friedrichshain, but still alright. So far I had a Chilliburger which was pretty hot and dripping, and a Haloumiburger, which was goat cheese and pesto. Both at least a 9/10 on a scale of awesomeness. The fries they serve with it are pretty good too. All in all, they serve burgers - meat and vegetarian (not really vegan as far as I can tell) - and that's what they are good at. The people are so friendly it's almost creepy and you have doubts you are still in Berlin.

Yelp
When you asked random foodies about their top3 burgers in Berlin five years ago, a large number included MarienBurger in their list. Let`s check, how they perform nowadays. The Snake Burger consists of 180g beef, 2 slices of cheese, bacon, a standard sesame bun, tomato, onions, lettuce, pickled cucumber and homemade burger sauce. The patty is bigger than what you get at most other burger places, but that`s the only good thing about it: it`s a frozen one, that even gets pre-fried and then just reheated on the bbq for another minute after the order. This leads to a texture somewhere between chewy and juicy. The processed cheese slices are lacking flavor, the bun is a bit too dry, while the bacon adds something good. The rest of the components is fresh and the homemade burger sauce tastes good, but it can`t compensate the somewhat dissapointing impression of the most important ingredients. Even though I like the place, I have to say, that the burger feels outdated in 2014: 2(+)/5 - more reviews on Facebook: BerlinBuns -

Yelp
Our favourite burger place round the corner. While they do offer limited seating inside (basically a couple of seats along the wall) and some small tables outside (weather permitting), it basically is a take-away place. I do like the quality, quantity (!) and variety of their burgers, their potato wedges are nicely spiced - and all of that for decent prices. However, there may be slightly longer queues on weekends. Try it out. I'm sure you'll like it.

Qype User (varmin…)

Yelp
A good, basic burger. I had the cheeseburger and it was good, except that they use that plastic-wrapped pre-sliced cheese stuff. No wonder Germans don't like cheddar. They never get to try the real stuff! The meat itself reminded me of the burgers they served at our cantina at workpepper, salt and maybe some other spices mixed in to the meat make it tasty. I think it may be one distributor of pre-formed patties. Good, toasted buns and fresh toppings. Excellent wedge fries. Reasonable prices. So, just the cheese to whinge about. I'm only giving 3 stars instead of 4 because turning out a good, basic burger shouldn't catapult you to eatery fame. Note: no restrooms and very limited room inside.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
The burgers are the best I have found in Berlin, though a little over done for my taste. The wedges are tasty also. The workers there are gruffly friendly, mostly due to the pace there. It seems to be always full. I recommend the Hawaiian burger with Jalapeños. Don't go at lunchtime...no seating.
google avatar

Marius M.

Yelp
Loved the food, fast on service and with very good prices. For sure in top 3 Berlin burger joints. Space is pretty tight.
google avatar

Qype User (Charli…)

Yelp
I read a lot of Qype reviews before going here. To address the processed cheese debate - its not like anyone is suggesting putting a Kraft Square on a piece of Wagyu Fillet! Its a burger - unless we are talking a Thomas Keller burger on a freshly baked brioche bun...which clearly, given by the tattooed lady at the grill, we aren't! And frozen patties, I think that's a good call on their part. From a health and safety point of view - ground meat is pretty scary stuff if stored / chilled incorrectly. So I am quite happy that in a shoe box takeaway joint, where they could clearly use more staff, they are using frozen patties. What about the burgers though? Well, I had the baby cheese burger. The meat is quite gristly and dry. I think they get the balance of the salad fillings quite well. I was impressed by the ever so thinly sliced onion rings, I HATE pulling out a big chunk of onion. Service wise, it was one lady on the till and the aforementioned younger lady on the grill, they were perfectly nice. Even though yesterday was the first sunny day in Berlin and they were positively slammed with orders! And why go here instead of McDonald's? To support an independent joint trying to make it in the big bad world of the restaurant trade...
google avatar

C D.

Yelp
Very tasty. Cheap. Great service. Great patty. What more could you want? Will eat again, many many times...
google avatar

Qype User (rbroze…)

Yelp
Look, these guys open up a burger place in a small space with some stools at a counter. The fries are frozen and so are the burgers. But, they give you a good helping of fries and the burgers are flavorful with lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes. The baby-burger is big enough for me, but most people were ordering the regular burger which appeared to be twice the size in both directions. I'm not sure about the Saturday opening hour (2 pm). It's as if they deliberately want to miss lunch, but the place filled up quickly regardless. The ketchup and senf is free. I do like the idea that the cook can hand you your plate over the counter without you getting up. It's that small, or is the word intimate?
google avatar

Frostskagg ..

Yelp
The service is good, burgers are good and it is cheap for a burger in this class. You have ceveral choices of burger and I definitely recommend the fries. Put some ketchup and mayonnaise on(it's on every table) viel Spaß!
google avatar

Qype User (monkey…)

Yelp
Completely overrated!!! Meat frozen. Then cooked and finally reheated. Awful cheap cheese and fries. I didn't get what I ordered but after 30 minutes wait I didn't complain. There was another person complaining because he didn't get his food after 50 minutes waiting. Commong is a burger! The staff was rude. Noisy and no place to sit. The prices are average. I can't understand how people say is one of the best burger places in Berlin. I moved to Berlin three months ago and I really hope they are not right. Please don't go to marienBurger, make yourself a favor and cook them better at your house. Or if you are up to let me know I'll cook them with pleasure.
google avatar

Lars G.

Yelp
Maybe I was just expecting something else. The burgers tastes really good, but the location is horrendous, it is small and cramped. I was there during lunchtime, and the amount of people in that small space acted as a stressful reminder to just eat my food really quickly and get the hell out of there. Maybe I will be back during summertime, when it is possible to sit outside.

Qype User (erin_d…)

Yelp
I prefer The Bird but this is a nice way to change things up. The burgers don't really compare but they'll fill you up and I always leave satisfied. And happy that I didn't just spend 13 euros on my meal. They're always very full and it's difficult to even get in the door sometimes. Try to visit outside of the regular lunch or dinner time for a more pleasant experience! We had to wait for 40 minutes to get our hamburgers today. It was around 1:00pm. Yelp
I am really confused about the reviews people are giving this place. I absolutely hate giving bad reviews (this actually might be my first), I feel even worse because Ithe staff were really nice, but the burger is a frozen patty that clearly has some kind of binder in it? It is the kind of burger crappy hotdog stands in Chicago sell! It is really dissappointing because they could be so much better ! With all the hype I was expecting something like Honest burger not like chipper burger
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Soft, supple, incredible burgers. Cold beer. A perfect quick meal from a very neat little shop in P'berg.
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
Juicy delish burger, served quickly. Guys behind the counter were chill and efficient and helpful.

Pete S.

Yelp
Was there. Very inconsistent. Treated me like dirt this time so i walked out. The guy behind the counter was a 100% looser. Yelp doesnt have a space for text about the account, so: When one has the fortitude to walk if not being treated properly, with real self-respect/respect to others, that is real character. Not the local, slavish mechanical nonsense that attempts to hide behind false platitudes. Do everyone a favour, if getting treated poorly, walk and go somewhere else. Let us know about it. If it was awesome, or good, give a positive review.

Aaa A.

Yelp
The guy who takes your order is the most friendliest, well-mannered jolliest burger joint staff in the whole wide world. Oops, I meant the OPPOSITE. When they make a mistake with an order( I corrected them three times), they yell at you and grumble something loud to each other in german. After enduring their juvenile management attitude, I hoped the taste of burger would enlighten my mind about the said burger flippers. If you're into that juicy greasy tastes of patties like In N Out, Shake Shack, Five Guys, this isn't. It is as if they blended sausages and ham, then shaped into patties. Fries? I've had better ones from the british frozen food section and i'm not a brit. this place is vastly overrated. For my next burger craving, I'd rather step into Burger King or settle for deliciously thin pizza from Zia Maria just a block away.
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
Whew. I need a nap after eating that monster burger. But it was so worth it. I got a regular cheeseburger and an order of wedge fries. The burger was HUGE and hot and delicious with all the basic toppings: tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles, plus special sauce. Mmmm. To the people who complain about the cheese--honestly, I have a soft spot in my heart for processed cheese slices, especially because they MELT the best, which is what I want on my burger--gooey creamy deliciousness. The wedges were good, covered in spices of some kind (which tasted sort of vaguely Asian for some reason), crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. I sat at the counter and read the free magazines while I waited. I didn't wait long, especially considering I went at noon on the dot and it was made fresh to order. And all this for only 5.10eur? Color me satisfied. One weird thing--everyone else there was eating their burgers with forks and knives. Um? I felt like a weirdo grabbing the burger and gettin messy with cheese and dripping juice all over my hands. But as far as I'm concerned, that's how a burger should be eaten. A couple construction workers sitting at the outside table were the only other ones using their hands. They had double burgers as well, which seemed to contain more meat than anyone needs in a single sitting, haha. The rest of the menu looked good. I'm not vegetarian but I'd try that mozzarella burger any day. But next time? I think it has to be the baby burger for me. I am waaay too full right now.
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
Best burgers I've eaten in berlin. Simple, efficient and tasty. I get the simple hamburger and its great. Just a little small so be prepared to either take away or wait for a seat.
google avatar

Qype User (Idiotc…)

Yelp
The name is of course awfully clever. It's on Marienburger, it's a burger joint, they called it Marien Burger. But as two words clever eh? I drove past a couple of times and thought it looked very enticing. I do like a good burger and among the multitude of food options of various types and nationalities in P-berg I find that a decent burger is something of a rarity. The place is nicely done up, the lettering quite funky, and when I saw the ad for the snake burger outside I knew: sooner or later I would talk my girlfriend into eating here. So I did. However.Unfortunately I shall never know what the snake burger tastes like, or in fact any of the other burgers, because as soon as we walked in and my girlfriend made a polite enquiry regarding the possible existence of a toilet, she was given such a needlessly unfriendly and impolite reply that we walked straight out of there and decided not to go back. I mean, I almost suggested just getting the snake burger to go, but thought better of it. Yes, I am getting better at this whole relationship thing, but I am a man, and it's slow work. Sono snake burgers for me. Not that I mind. I mean, it's really not that big a deal for me, I haven't even thought about it for, well, days now. The snake burger. Not for days. Nope.

Yelp
clearly the best burgers you'll find in town. since that's not a big secret anymore you should be prepared to wait a few minutes for your "fast" food. the place is quite small though & you should probably order for take away. i can also recommend the veggie stuff, the halloumi burger, for example, is really tasty. as the burgers are really huge, marienburger offers "baby" versions of every kind and their fries & wedges are really good as well. try it & find out for yourselves :-)

Qype User (Eat_Be…)

Yelp
this place has been around for a while, and has a fairly large and passionate fan base. the people working the grill that day were ink & metal-augmented, which is a rare sight in the overly gentrified pregnant hill these days, and very friendly and swift. orders are taken at the counter and called out later by name. it's tiny, and there is very little room to sit save for a narrow counter at the wall and a couple tables outside. ketchup and mayo are on the tables free of charge. continue reading (http://bitchinberlin.wordpress.com/2010/11/17/the-berlin-bites-burger-bonanza/)

Yelp
Prima. Sophia Loren Burger und Grünkernburger (!) gehabt. Lecker.

Qype User (pklond…)

Yelp
Having read loads of reviews and living round the corner thought I would go. Well I wont be going again, the burgers are processed, factory made burgers and the music is way loud. If you are looking for better burger go to Burger World or the best which is Burger Miester. Its a shame as it full off cool Berliners in a not very cool area.

Qype User (stauph…)

Yelp
The place is itself small and cosy and nicely decorated, however you dont go over there for a candle-light dinner or a course meal, this place is just about burgers! The price is fine and the meat is good, what more do you want? Go over and enjoy it!

Josh J.

Yelp
Excellent Burger! (also organic). If you choose to eat during the peak times, plan around 15-20min of waiting. But its worth it.

Yelp
dont get the buzz this place has. Certainly tastes alright but the quality is average at best and there is hardly a place to sit down

Yelp
Frozen ingredients, cheese taste not good, staff very rude. Way overrated. Won't do again.

Yelp
Real fat burgers with huge portions of fries. Both taste really good. Perfect place for a hungover recovery. Original and tasty new burger every month. Expect to wait about 15 min before you get your food as the place is crowded at every hour, but you won´t regret it.

Yelp
200 g Burgers are great for 4,90, however burger fanatics will be sad to see they use frozen patties, and the meat is not very fresh. Potato Wedges are fantastic though.

Yelp
I used to eat here a bit. Once I started going to the Bird, this just doesn't compare at all. Ok, it's cheap enough and the portions are big. It's always packed. But the burgers are not great at all. The meat is hard and not very tasty. and the buns are always soggy. I went back once after I'd been to the bird to compare, but I will never eat here again probably.
