Marigot Bay Resort and Marina | Condé Nast Traveler

"Perched on a hillside fronting lovely Marigot Bay, this 122-room resort is a haven of low-key elegance. A long footpath lined with frangipani and ginger lilies leads to a dimly lit reception area. Guest rooms with wooden plantation shutters and wide verandas are given modern touches such as Brazilian hardwood flooring, Wi-Fi, and pillowtop beds. Slate-tiled bathrooms are a room highlight, with their pizza-size showerheads and generous toiletries. Some staff are noticeably greener than others, though as a whole the service is friendly. There’s only one full on-site restaurant, The Grill 14°61°, but a quick ferry ride across the bay can whisk you to other lively eateries."

Marigot bay is beautiful however there is nothing to do there. You spend a lot of dollars on taxis to escape it. Marigot bay beach club and dive resort is awful. It’s very very tired, needs pulling down and starting again. It boasts about the connection with Doolittle film which was made in the 60’s (I guess when this hotel was built). Our room 51, was accessed over steep steps with pipes going across (which at night was in darkness we had to use a torch). It felt as though we were being put in staff accommodation. The room itself was dark and dingy. The furniture had seen better days, with ill fitting drawers and chips and scratches all over. The taps over the kitchen sink were extremely wobbly. The microwave for some reason had been put above the dirty extractor fan (which didn’t work) you had to be 7ft tall to be able to use it. God help you getting anything hot out of there without scalding yourself. The toilet door banged against the toilet when you opened it, there was a crack in the sink and no hot water for days. The balcony door never felt secure and handle was filthy. The views were lovely but the noise from the beach was deafening at times and there appeared to be a rave on a Sunday night that didn’t finish til midnight, so not much sleep that night. We eventually got moved to a room up the hill, still tired but a million times better than 51. We had booked breakfast and dinner but were told that several items on the menu weren’t included in our ‘meal plan’ it made us feel like second class citizens. We complained and they accepted we could have all on the al a cart menu. The breakfast was poor, the cereal choice was fruit loops or some apple cereal that looked horrible. The hot water for the tea was way above your head and was again very dangerous. Service in the restaurant was slow sometimes waiting an hour for a meal. You could see the kitchen which was not exactly clean and looked chaotic. |The Nook shop ‘for all your provisions’ consisted of Pringles and a couple of ‘t’shirts. The dive centre had closed down years ago and there was no hot tub as advertised. The pool was not easy to get into and had lots of cracked or missing tiles. The staff on the whole were very sweet but looked exhausted and didn’t want to be there (who can blame them). St Lucia a beautiful island but this hotel was very very disappointing.

I’ve read tons of bad reviews about this place and honestly, I don’t get it. I’m staying here right now and overall I’m enjoying my stay. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and the view is absolutely amazing. However, the pool area could do with some development and should be cleaned daily. There’s lots of debris floating in it, and because of that I won’t go in the pool. The restaurant is good, the breakfast is solid, and the staff are friendly and welcoming, which makes a big difference. Overall, despite the pool issue, I’ve had a positive experience and would still recommend the resort

This hotel is a curate's egg, it's good in parts. Food was good except for the breakfast which, although we went B&B was only a rather poor continental; you had to pay extra for a proper meal. The staff were very good and the location is stunning. But it's all getting a bit tired, the rooms were fine but little things like loose loo seats and wobbly taps take off the shine. There are three pool tables in the bar, all well worn out and not even level. There is a 'sunset bar' area which is effectively derelict. The bar is called Doolittles, based on the fact that the film was shot in the bay years ago and there are some faded photos around but it's all scruffy and worn. We only discovered after a few days that the rooms are only cleaned once every other day, which surprised us and the reception closed on Sundays which we found very odd. All in all we had a pretty good week there, mainly because of the food and the setting but we had to accept the limitations, mind you it is only 3 star so maybe we were expecting too much. Oh and to call it a 'dive resort' is completely misleading. There are no diving facilities there at all although reception will put you in touch with a local dive centers if you ask.

Marigot Bay Dive Resort is an excellent place to stay if you want a relaxed, authentic experience in Saint Lucia. The location is stunning, set right on the water and surrounded by lush green hills, giving the whole resort a peaceful, secluded feel while still being right in the heart of Marigot Bay.The rooms are comfortable and spacious, many with balconies overlooking the bay, so you wake up to calm water and boats drifting past. The atmosphere is quiet and laid-back, perfect for switching off rather than staying in a busy, commercial resort.

This is a great little spot to tuck away into. It’s nice and secluded. Booked a dive and they picked us up right at the resort’s dock, very nice. Only thing is the food is very expensive for what you’re getting - it’s basic food you’d pay significantly less for at any off-resort restaurant. Recommend going for dinner elsewhere. The best food we had in St. Lucia was at cheap places - the local food is really good! We did a private beach dinner and it was romantic and staff were great about making it a special evening. Again, basic food, not at all worth the price, but it was a lovely evening.

Staycation day pass, I emailed prior to book the staycation pass for myself and 4 other guests The hotel confirmed we could attend and we arrived today via boat (the only highlight of the day) I don’t know where to start The hotel was having building work done to the front dock… which was causing noise and dust… the second dock was having bags of rubble delivered all day and this was being carried through the hotel… The facilities at the hotel are poor, they hadn’t even cleaned up the sunbed areas from The previous day, there was cups with cigarette butts inside them and loads of empty bottles. (The reception knew we coming for the day, it wouldn’t have taken a few minutes to clean up) The sunbeds are poor, tatty and falling apart, the doolittles restaurant which is described as one of the best on the island probably might have been many years ago, but now it’s just tatty and run down. And not very hygienic at all! Yes the scenery is stunning But a view can only account for so much. I feel a bit cheated by the hotel that they would charge $130 US dollars per person and Not pre-warn us about the hotel having extensive and disruptive building work that day. We walked onto the beach and the locals trying to sell you drugs was so intimidating that I had to just turn around and walk away, they were so persistent with trying to make us have some cocaine that they wouldn’t leave us alone… luckily our boat driver that we hired for the day recognised us and ushered the locals away, and even came to check we were okay, this is my second time in St Lucia and I’ve never experienced this aggression for locals before. It was a really poor day which I feel totally ripped off for. I would recommend hiring a private water taxi for a tour that drives you into Marigot bay, but I wouldn’t get off the boat.

Where do i start. My fiancee and i just spent 10 absolutely amazing days here. I can only say that the negative reviews are totally against the grain. We arrived at the resort by taxi doolittles ferry transferred us to our our resort. We were in awe of the breathtaking view that awaited us. We checked in and went to our firefly studio. It was beautiful. Clean smelt lovely. We had room 51 a four poster bed fresh petals towels were placed on the bed. Then we seen the balcony. Wow what a view. We met the owner david on our first night. He's a lovely man with a lovely soul. We clicked instantly. He went above and beyond and took us out in his car on two occasions. We seen the whole of the island, he even took us to the supermarket. We had such laughs in the evening. This is a beautiful clean friendly resort and our bar tenders dillon and Glen were fantastic. So attentive and professional. We will be going again next year. Thankyou all for making our stay an amazing one. Love kat and Tony xxx

The rooms are dated and could use a little more furniture as the studios are large rooms. The kitchen is not fully stocked for preparing meals, but if you are planning to cook, it is no big deal. The price is amazing for a week and the surrounding is very beautiful. Just know there are many steps to get to your room. The housekeeping service are amazing, they are very helpful and friendly. It's only ever other day but that is just fine!
