We enjoyed a delicious seafood meal at Marin d'eau douce. We had a lovely sea view and the warm atmosphere more than made up for the rainy evening. We had the Chef's Inspiration which was packed with fresh seafood wrapped in filo. The catch of the day (halibut) was fresh and buttery. The redfish was also delicious. Our bilingual wait staff were attentive and informative. The bottle of Chablis topped it off. It couldn't have been more lovely.

The restaurant was lovely and we received a friendly greeting and were seated. Our order was taken and we received our drinks. And then nothing for an hour! We were not in a rush but this was ridiculous. I noticed the other tables had a bread basket so I asked for one (something to munch on). The waitress smiled said yes and disappeared again. We were just about to leave when our meals finally came out - with the bread basket. The food was hot and the fish was good. But we had to laugh because our meal included 'baby potatoes and vegetables". We each had 1/2 of a baby potato on our plate scatted with a few other vegetables. We didn't even bother with dessert. And we paid dearly for all this. So no I do not recommend this place.

The food was good, but definitely not worth the price. The real issue is the service. It felt completely unstructured. We had to pour our own wine, ask for fresh cutlery, ask for bread - nothing was done proactively. There was no rhythm, no attention, and certainly no sense of urgency. It’s clearly a family-run place, but the team lacks basic restaurant training. They seriously need to go eat elsewhere and learn what proper service looks like. At this price point, the experience should be smooth and professional. I wouldn’t go back.

Superb meal. Fresh seafood. Halibut is recommended. Local beer selection. A little shy on the ‘bed’ of lentils. More like a ‘yoga mat’.

Definitely need reservations. Popular spot. Bit loud, but you can still converse. Very good wine list. Don't be in a hurry, this place is not for you if you are. Took 45 min. for entree, and another 45 min for main. Everything from scratch and fresh, was well prepared. Have no idea how wait staff works, had five different servers. You don't get a bill when finished, upon exiting you stop at the bar to pay, it's all logged in on their computer, they review it with you and use your cc.

Really nice restaurant. Food was amazing. A little on the expensive side though. Service could have been more prompt as is want very busy when we attended but everyone was super friendly and nice. Would definitely come back

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marin d’eau douce, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. Nestled in a charming location, the restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. Their recommendations were spot on, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The seafood was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, while the accompanying sides and sauces complemented each dish exquisitely. It's clear that the chefs at Marin d’eau douce take great pride in their craft, using only the finest ingredients and innovative techniques. One highlight of the evening was the dessert. It was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures, leaving us craving more. The wine selection was also impressive, offering a variety of choices that perfectly paired with our meal. In addition to the fantastic food and service, the ambiance of Marin d’eau douce is simply enchanting. The tasteful decor, soft lighting, and scenic views create a cozy yet elegant setting that is perfect for any occasion. Overall, Marin d’eau douce exceeded all my expectations. It's a gem of a restaurant that I highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their exquisite menu.

Yelp
Tried this out as we were looking for a seafood restaurant. It did not disappoint. Lovely location and warm and welcoming decor with decent service. It got a little spotty as they got busier. We were first to arrive at the restaurant. The food was very good. The sides of vegetables and 1/2 a potato were the same for all the seafood dishes. Three different fish dish were ordered and all were done just right (I sampled the salmon and halibut in addition to my plate of cod). We were just a little disappointed by the small serving of sides. We all had desserts which were very good.

Yelp
During a pandemic it is hard to predict a lot when you travel. We booked this trip around the gaspe peninsula in April. We had a hard time getting hotels never mind figuring out where and when we'd eat. We spent two nights in Carleton, drinking in the Atlantic Ocean. And we quickly figured out that the key to success was reservations and ask the locals. We spotted this restaurant on a walk along the boardwalk. I called and we were able to score a reservation for 730. A wonderful dining experience. We had a view of the ocean and the interior was cozy, warm and inviting. My husband loves his beer and had discovered the local microbrew, petit caribou. He had a few pints while I worked my way through a few glasses of the house white. I had a mixed salad as an appetizer. The dressing was light and tangy. My husband ordered the lamb abs was in heaven. I had the salmon in a cream sauce. Delightful and such flavour. And to our delight we were given a pint glass as a souvenir. Highly recommend if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.
