I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marin d’eau douce, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. Nestled in a charming location, the restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. Their recommendations were spot on, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The seafood was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, while the accompanying sides and sauces complemented each dish exquisitely. It's clear that the chefs at Marin d’eau douce take great pride in their craft, using only the finest ingredients and innovative techniques. One highlight of the evening was the dessert. It was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures, leaving us craving more. The wine selection was also impressive, offering a variety of choices that perfectly paired with our meal. In addition to the fantastic food and service, the ambiance of Marin d’eau douce is simply enchanting. The tasteful decor, soft lighting, and scenic views create a cozy yet elegant setting that is perfect for any occasion. Overall, Marin d’eau douce exceeded all my expectations. It's a gem of a restaurant that I highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their exquisite menu.

Exquisite location, cozy atmosphere and super fresh food. We had the crab & homard salad, cod and petoncle. The wine list is extensive but quite expensive.

We had a fabulous meal in a warm and cozy ambience. The service was excellent...friendly, informed, and professional. The mussels as an appetizer and the sea bass for the main were superb. The lamb was a generous serving, beautifully presented, tasty, but a bit soupy. Highly recommend!!

The restaurant is lovely and in a beautiful location directly on the waterfront. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks on the patio. Our food was served hot but we had to wait for cutlery so the food was just warm when we were able to consume it. I had the scallops. The dish was very good, however, portion size was small. 4 scallops ($39) with a side of veg, no starch. My husband had the haddock ($38), same veg, no starch. The portion size was normal and tasty. We noticed that other patrons were given a bread basket after we had consumed our meal.We were not served a bread basket. I mentioned this to the waitress who said thanks for letting us know. We had coffee and dessert inside the restaurant. Both were very good. Be prepared to spend a bit of time here. Our reservation was for 5:30 pm. We were there for 2 1/2 hrs to have a drink, dinner, dessert & coffee.

Carleton-sur-mer. When you are ready for something more than the usual poutine, hamburger, fish and chips (all of which I love) Marin d'eau douce is a relaxed, fine dining experience over looking the Baie des Chaleurs. Excellent fresh fish, oysters and mussels - all local, but lamb and beef choices as well. Excellent, broad, deep, varied and FAIRLY PRICED wine list, the most sophisticated I've seen outside of a major city. Beautiful décor, spacious, gorgeous patio where you can dine. Family owned and operated, 3 generations, since 1999. We are ALREADY PLANNING OUR RETURN!

The food was excellent and so was the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was not great. Somewhat pleasant when they came to the table however we waited a long time to be served. May be they were understaffed that evening??

Excellent seafood, excellent service, beautiful location, great for a date night! I’m not often impressed when I eat out, especially seafood because I love cooking it, but this was excellent. I took the chef’s special, the manta ray, and the salmon mousse! So good!

Yelp
Tried this out as we were looking for a seafood restaurant. It did not disappoint. Lovely location and warm and welcoming decor with decent service. It got a little spotty as they got busier. We were first to arrive at the restaurant. The food was very good. The sides of vegetables and 1/2 a potato were the same for all the seafood dishes. Three different fish dish were ordered and all were done just right (I sampled the salmon and halibut in addition to my plate of cod). We were just a little disappointed by the small serving of sides. We all had desserts which were very good.

Yelp
During a pandemic it is hard to predict a lot when you travel. We booked this trip around the gaspe peninsula in April. We had a hard time getting hotels never mind figuring out where and when we'd eat. We spent two nights in Carleton, drinking in the Atlantic Ocean. And we quickly figured out that the key to success was reservations and ask the locals. We spotted this restaurant on a walk along the boardwalk. I called and we were able to score a reservation for 730. A wonderful dining experience. We had a view of the ocean and the interior was cozy, warm and inviting. My husband loves his beer and had discovered the local microbrew, petit caribou. He had a few pints while I worked my way through a few glasses of the house white. I had a mixed salad as an appetizer. The dressing was light and tangy. My husband ordered the lamb abs was in heaven. I had the salmon in a cream sauce. Delightful and such flavour. And to our delight we were given a pint glass as a souvenir. Highly recommend if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.
