I drove to the Marina Bay Cruise Centre for the first time to pick up my family members. They returned from the cruise with their luggages and the the MRT station was quite a distant away.
As this was the 1st time they were using the cruise centre, they happened to move to the drop off point not knowning that pick up is prohibited Unknown to me, that is a drop off point with no visible directional signs to any pick up points and the only way is going up the ram and I was directed to move to the left lane and ended up to a place where they were waiting.
As my car was still in motion, an elderly lady staff came straight infront of my car causing me to hit the brakes. Seeing that no one drop off from my car, started taking pictures. Another elderly male staff blocked me from driving off. Upon winding down my car window, he told me in an arrogant, rude and loud voice that this is not a pick up point. I apologised and informed him that I do not know where the pick up point was. He immediately shot back " Everyone knows you don't know" with another harsh word, " Your car number will be sent up for actions " I really don't expect these sort of threatening, arrogant and gangsterism attitude happened in Marina Bay Cruise Centre where it is considered World Class with Asia Best Cruise Terminal Award.
For those organisations that employed these senior citizens, please educate them on the issues of safety, professional conduct and polite communication with members of the public. Such initiatives may ensure smoother interactions and minimise misunderstandings, would undoubtely contribute to an even higher stardard of service delivery.
Drop Off and Pick Up directional signages should be VISIBLE and PROMINENTLY placed so that vehicles will not be driving around and end up in the wrong place.
