This is the cleanest hotel I've stayed at in San Francisco. I absolutely loved the chic and vintage romantic vibe of the entire motel. The flowers around the property added to its aesthetic appeal. I really liked how close the motel is to the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. The room we stayed in was spotless. The bathroom and kitchen were incredibly clean, with no mold, dust, or anything out of place. Our room faced the street, which we didn't mind. You could hear cars and some honking, but I personally think it added to the city experience. If you're a light sleeper or mind street noise, I would recommend getting a room facing the courtyard. The motel has garage parking, but the garages are very small and can get tight. The only DOWNSIDE is that while the motel is dog-friendly, there is no area for your dog to relieve themselves. There are no grassy or dirt areas, so you have to venture out into the streets for that!

Feels like a European hotel in all the good quirky ways, wood armoires, careful selected furnishings. Detailed attention to flowers that bloom everywhere creating a residential vibe. Cool clientele. Courtyard units recommended. Highly personalized attention to individual guest preferences from a small diverse staff. We stayed several weeks and appreciated the full kitchen and nearby Marina Market. This is the opposite of a cheap standard American motel. Worth every penny to reserve a top unit.

I had a great experience! My first time staying in San Francisco and the motel staff was so helpful and super friendly. I stayed for 2 nights and I was able to meet three different staff members, all super helpful! First night was nice young lady and she was super helpful! Second night was nice dude he help me a lot with the parking garage and went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional! I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Thank you so much !

Super cute motel. The gentleman at the front desk super nice. 😊 the rooms inside the courtyard are more quiet than the ones facing the street. The room we had , had a kitchen small everything clean and very cute. It looked like you were in a motel in Italy. It also has parking very convenient. Around the corner there’s a coffee shop for a quick bite. This place is walking distance to the palace of fine arts and a beach overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. I definitely recommend this motel.

I had a great experience! My first time staying in San Francisco and the motel staff was so helpful and super friendly. I stayed for 2 nights and I was able to meet three different staff members, all super helpful and even gave me a call when one of their garage spots opened up. I was able to park inside (FYI: first come and first serve for parking). Everything is walking distance. Cafe, restaurants, bars, etc. The room was clean and comfy. It was pretty quiet during my stay. And its beautiful!

Shortly after my family and I check into the Marina Hotel we started hearing a person call out to let them in at our front door. When I cracked the door open, it was a homeless person. They asked me to let them in. The homeless person had filthy closes, no shoes, and smelled horrendous. When I asked them what they wanted, they asked to come in. I said no a couple of times before asking them their name. They did not know their name. I asked if they had a family member I could call for them. They did not respond. I repeatedly ask who I could call for them. Again, they did not respond. They were experiencing a psychotic episode and asked me if there was someone right above them or below them. They were sitting on the stairs to our rooms and no one else was there. I stepped out of the room and asked again how I could help only to get the same dissociative response. They appeared to have lost their mind. I went to the front motel office and asked the front desk on duty to due something. They said that they saw the person walk by their office, yet they did not stop them. They made a half-hearted attempt to get the homeless person to leave. After failing to get the person to leave, I called 911 and described to dispatch what was happening. They sent an emergency medical response team who escorted the homeless person off the property. My family felt unsafe so I immediately booked another hotel and we left the property. I attempted to get a refund, but the Marina Motel refused to refund anything much less the $528 I prepaid for my planned 3 nights at their motel. Although they were listed with AirBNB, we didn’t receive the “two room condo” we expected and paid for. It was just two cramped rooms connected by a dinky bathroom, maybe less than two-hundred square feet. Due to the nature of the open courtyard, there was little to no security besides the lock on our front door, enabling that homeless person to approach us in the first place.

Stayed for two nights. Great location that is walking distance to most of the key places to visit in San Francisco. Property is well maintained, rooms are great with a comfy bed and convenient kitchenette. Will definitely be back!

Marina Motel is a lovely oasis inside the city! The staff are incredibly welcoming and kind. The courtyard is gorgeous and tranquil. The rooms are cozy, clean, and have many extra touches you don’t find in chain hotels. It feels like staying as a guest in someone’s home. Free garage parking is an added bonus! I was able to fit my large SUV in a garage with an inch to spare on each side. The neighborhood is clean and safe with great restaurants and easy access to the Muni. Highly recommend for a unique and peaceful stay in San Francisco!

Yelp
Lovely motel in an excellent location with safe, secure parking. We chose Marina Hotel for the secure, locked garages & being close to Lombard & Union street. Our stay exceeded all expectations - the flowers are lovely and the care/attention to details the owners put into every inch of the hotel is clear. Lombard is a busy street - this is a quiet oasis. Thank you!

Yelp
Great place to stay for a family. It was 4 of us and I wanted to give my aunt some kind of privacy. So the setup of room work out. I'll describe the design of motel similar to a 1930s apartment building. Our room had 2 full beds in the living room and a queen in the small bedroom. Each room comes with a parking space but our garage was too small to park the van but I suck at parking. But the motel is probably in the best neighborhood in San Francisco. I easily found parking on the street. I felt safe walking around at night. And the neighborhood has a ton of eating options in walking distances. I went up for my graduation and this place was half the price as hotels with 2 queen beds. Forgot to take pictures but again the rooms remind me of a 1930s apartment building in Los Angeles. Not much walking room inside but we were out all day. The only slight dislike was the dated motel decor. And the location is great, kind of in the middle of San Francisco.

Yelp
Your parents love u and lots of people But u r not married like a duck of muck My fake husband is paying for my negotiated salary as an urban designer This motel is a nook it's got crannies for grannies and my mamma can come over and hang out I don't pout this time U can park a car prefer Benz I'll prove it Left me isolated overnight creepy beepy meep

Yelp
Wow! What a unique place!! We personally loved the location and our room!! The check in girl was friendly and she kindly answered all my questions. I booked this location as it was within walking distance to the Palace of fine arts. This motel has a cute small garage for each unit. The spaces are small and a big automobile will definitely not fit. It was not a problem for us. The rooms all appear to be upstairs above the garages, so you would definitely want to be able to make the climb. Beds were fine and the linens and towels were of good quality. The neighborhood was quite walkable and several eating places were really close by. It was also close to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Japantown Center which worked great for us! We will definitely keep this great spot in mind for our next visit!! Love love love it!!! (Sorry forgot to get pictures)

Yelp
We loved it. We travelled from Houston to visit the city and this place reminded me of my Grandmother's home in Mexico. The flowers were beautiful and the room was clean and provided everything we needed for our two night stay. We had an SUV that wasn't quite right (small enough) for the garage parking but the front desk let me know I could park on the other side of the building and I was very grateful for that. The nights were cool and we enjoyed sleeping with the windows open. If we are ever in the area in the future- we will definitely stay again.

Yelp
Worst experience, stay somewhere else better. Pictures description show a quiet courtyard with flowers, and I received an unsafe room facing Motel Luna, in a really car loud, busy street that didn't let my family sleep after 16 hours drive, and homeless people hanging by my room stairs at night, making it unsafe for my young family to leave the room alone. I requested a cancellation for the second night I decided not to sleep there, and they refused to fully refund the money that night. I paid $336 for a big headache, and not even an apology.

Yelp
I loved my stay here. This is such a hidden gem in a bustling city! I can admit to being sheltered, and a little bit of a snob. I travel often, and usually on the high end side 4+ star. We were camping, and wanted to feel human again. I had my dogs with me so I needed to find last minute accommodations that were budget and pet friendly. Upon arrival we almost left because it was not inviting from the street view at night. Then when we turned into the court yard, the parking was so tight, I was afraid I was going to scratch up my brand new car (RAV4 2022) it was a tight fit, but I managed. The front desk guy really wasn't helpful, and pretty indifferent. Because of this I almost turned around and drove off because I felt uncomfortable. I can admit I was tired, cranky, and a weary traveler needing a safe space to relax. I'm so glad that I didn't drive off because once we got into the room it was such a pleasant surprise! I literally just paid 25,000 points at a crappy Marriott that isn't even comparable to this. The room was very clean, comfortable, fully stocked kitchen. This reminds me of a European style hotel. It has everything you need except for lots of space, so if you need that probably not the place for you. The heater does make a weird clicking noise, that was initially creepy. Once I figured it out, it's all good. This place was built in 1939 afterall! We didn't come here with high expectations, just needed a place to crash. We had 2 full beds, a full kitchen with a door, and a bathroom also with a door. Essentially it is like a studio apartment centrally located. The court yard is really cute and has flowers hanging from the wall. It's really adorable in the day light. From the kitchen window you can see all the neighboring homes, very quaint. I will definitely come back here! We really enjoyed our stay, thank you. Marina Motel far exceeded our expectations, and really put us in a great mood. Ready to see San Fransisco!

Yelp
Loved our night at the Marina Motel! Super clean courtyard room with comfortable bed and nice kitchenette, as well as being quiet throughout the whole night. The location on Lombard made for an easy walk through the lovely surrounding neighborhood down to the bayside. The weather was so nice that we hoofed it over to The House of Prime Rib and were fortunate enough to get seated within half an hour. Must have been our lucky day, but we did Uber back to the motel as we had accomplished enough steps for one day. A bonus was having a safe courtyard garage space so we didn't have to worry about our car, and there wasn't an extra charge for parking. The staff at the motel was helping and interesting. Also, the price was a bargain for The City. Wonderful place Indeed.

Yelp
Front desk is very kind and always does the best they can do. Rooms have an antique vibe and the flowers outside are stunning

Cece S.

Yelp
SEMI-PET FRIENDLY Location 10/10 if you want to be within walking distance of everything and are a heavy sleeper; 0/10 if you are a light sleeper since this is literally on the main road. The courtyard is cute and you also get a private parking garage when available which is a huge plus. Also triple or quadruple check and call before booking if you have pets. I specifically picked the courtyard queen on their website since the room description did not have "Not Pet Friendly" so I was assuming this was a pet friendly room and made the reservation. Got to the hotel said the "courtyard queen" room I booked was not pet friendly and I'd either had to find somewhere else or pay $100 extra on top of the regular $25 pet fee. Ended up paying the extra $100 since it was already dark and didn't want to spend my whole night looking for a new hotel. Wanted to try a new place, but I wouldn't book again. Should've just went with what I know and booked at Hotel del Sol instead. Would've paid the same and got more amenities and better customer service.

Yelp
Quaint...perfect for a night or two, especially with the parking! Great location - especially if you don't want to stay in the Tenserloin

Shauna M.

Yelp
The Marina Motel is no motel. While it is located on Lombard Street, Once you pull into the driveway you find an enchanted garden and courtyard. The rooms are clean and some (like mine) are actually studio apartments. All the rooms are located above carriage style garages and they are extremely dog friendly. The staff is amazing; the owner kind and most of all they truly care about each of their guests. I stayed there for 25 days (11/29/2021-12/22/2021) while my own home was being renovated. The rooms are perfect for a couples or families and especially for dog owners. They have a little area along the back with Astroturf where your dog can potty, especially in the middle of the night, instead of taking them out onto the busy street. This place is truly an oasis amongst crappy motels. And like I said this place is no motel it is definitely a five star hotel to me! I will definitely recommend this amazing place to my family and friends! PS: I am a San Francisco native and I live 15 blocks away and I am grateful I found this amazing place that I have driven by for years and never knew truly existed.

Karen H.

Yelp
Such a great business and place to stay. Very clean. Such kind front desk staff. They made great suggestions for our visit and allowed us to keep our car on site for hours after we had checked out. A FULL kitchen and garage parking that can be locked. Only issue is street noise if you are in the street facing rooms. I loved this place and will stay here again. It was within walking distance to the Palace of Fine Arts and East beach.

L E.

Yelp
I must say how much I enjoyed my stay at the Marina Motel nicely located near the Presidio in San Francisco. Older but so joyful. And you get your own garage too. My room was so clean, near the back. I called ahead to be sure I got a room in the back. Luv, luv, luv ...

Isabella E.

Yelp
This was a cute little motel near the palace of fine arts. It's pet friendly and clean. They have kitchens in the units.

Tammie G.

Yelp
Loved this place! Talk about stepping back in time the room was large with a speedster bedroom and two twins in the living area The room had a fridge/micro and a coffee maker. The bathroom was clean and roomy with complimentary toiletries the bedroom had a large bed and just a small amount of room on each side but was sufficient the staff was helpful and had some free cookies in the lobby. I loved the flowers and the courtyard and would come back next time in the area. lots of great places to walk and eat and get coffee very close

Penelope R.

Yelp
Love love love!!! Super cute!! so unique, the staff is friendly, my new favorite place to stay when I visit San Fran. Everything was fantastic the shampoo and conditioner and soap smelled so good there's parking for your car really close to your room so you don't have nothing to worry about. I loved the atmosphere. Our room smelled like eucalyptus and it make it so much more relaxing. I wish I could live there hahaha

Melissa M.

Yelp
This motel was great for location and parking alone. You get your own parking garage, I didn't because I had darn roof storage but still parking was great and free. The rooms are quaint and they display pictures from the 1930's. There even was a little kitchen area. The garden/courtyard area is very beautiful. Check in was easy. If you are looking for a gym or pool or what not, then this place is definitely not for you. But if you want a cute place with free parking with location to everything and want to sightsee, then check it out!

Tara H.

Yelp
My flight was cancelled and had to be rebooked the following day. I kindly asked them to shift a 5 night reservation by one day and even though they are showing availability on booking.com they pretended they are "fully booked" and declined to accommodate. Take your money elsewhere. Many other accommodation in the marina with polite civilised hospitable owners.

Esther B.

Yelp
We loved our stay at the charming Marina Motel. The courtyard was lovely, well-kept, and full of flowers. The room was very clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The locking garage was an important bonus, giving us peace of mind when we went touring. We can't wait to stay at Marina Motel again.

Dana T.

Yelp
Our car couldn't fit in any of the extremely small parking spots and there is absolutely no other parking options in the area. The front desk person Natalie was nice and said she would refund us so we could get a different hotel. But when booking.com sent a cancellation request she denied it. She lied to our faces and when I asked her about it she denied everything. We ended up paying full price and then driving 4 hours home in the middle of the night. What a nightmare.

M P.

Yelp
We stayed here for about 5 days and I will not return. From the outside, it's kind of a cute place but the rooms are super tiny and, quite frankly, ugly inside. Old place and we did find one cockroach in our room. They do take dogs and there are garages to park in which is nice. Location is great - steps from Chestnut Street which offers lots of restaurants and stores. You can hop on a variety of buses to get to where you want to go. Interestingy, it's expensive so I think all you're paying for is location here.

Katie G.

Yelp
It was a cute little motel! Very homey feeling. The garden/courtyard is stunning! A cute little place to stay while in San Fran, on the popular Lombard St! It was wonderful to have our own garage spot (with an optional lock), as well as wifi, full kitchen, and tv! Bed was comfy. A few notes from our 3 night stay: - It's an older place, and the radiator/pipes woke us up every night. - Theres no AC, which is understandable for an older place, but the radiator was on constantly, with no way to turn it off. We would sweat through the night if we didn't open the windows. The breeze through the windows was nice, but open windows meant constant noise from the street. - Check in was at 4 pm, and when we arrived at 5:30 pm, we were told our room wasn't ready. The cleaning lady hadn't even started on our room. Wasn't ideal. Overall a cute, quaint place that we would stay at again in the spring or fall. We might just bring headphones or a white noise machine next time we stay, and try checking in a bit later.

Randy P.

Yelp
Great oasis in bustling part of SF. Walk to wharf, marina, restaurants, bars, etc. great location. Park your car in garage on premises. Beautiful flowers everywhere. Just a great place. Plan to return.

Sheila P.

Yelp
Paying mostly for location, this is such a beautiful and quaint escape right off the busy street. The courtyard is U-shaped and full of beautiful plants and flowers consistent throughout. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and all of them live in the city. We were able to park our car in the garage and explore prior to checking in as well as the day we checked out. Hop skip and a jump from the bridge, and walking distance to great food. I recommend a spin scooter and take off. I will stay again! PS try to get a back unit off of the street for added privacy and less noise.

Corey S.

Yelp
We normally stay downtown but had a concert at the Palace of Fine Arts and wanted to stay close. The rooms are on the small side and a little dated but the bed was awesome and slept great. For the price and location we had no issues. The interior courtyard is really nice. Noise is not an issue as some have indicated as long as you stay in the interior but this is the city. Parking is free. Walking distance to lots of good restaurants both north and south.

Dmitry K.

Yelp
Hi, it's been a week since I lived there... I didn't get my deposit refunded $250! I'm disappointed... How many days is this a couple of days??? It's been 7 days...

M. L.

Yelp
Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Called the motel directly to ask about what room would work best for our family. The attendant was so helpful and thorough. We booked it trusting her help so we were really just crossing our fingers. When we arrived, we were so pleased with this motels charm... beautiful murals and flowers, quiet courtyard right within walking distance of all the Marina and Cow Hollow have to offer... shopping, restaurants, Palace of Fine Art, Crissy Fields, Chestnut Street, and so much more. The room was exactly the right size with amenities like shampoo, conditioner, soft soap and a hair dryer. There was even a kitchennette. They brought aroll away upon request for one of our family members, and the other beds were very comfortable. Big bonus, no stress over parking... we were given a LOCKED, private garage...wow! Our room was so quiet, loaded with charm, and so quaint! If we ever come back to this area, we will do our best to book this little gem again! Thanks for making our stay so memorable Marina Motel and staff!

N. W.

Yelp
I really liked it. Free parking. The room was "quaint" as others have noted. I don't know what "beautiful garden" people refer to, but there are lots of flower boxes that are obviously well-attended. But there is no "courtyard." It's where the parking spaces are, which are covered and off the street. A rarity in San Francisco. Staff = excellent. Location = great...tons of restaurants within walking distance and the Lombard bus is a bonus. I judge a hotel/motel by how long I could stay there without getting restless and wanting to leave. Could definitely have stayed here 9 days. (I was only in town for 2...would have gladly stayed for 9). Full disclosure: we did have the best room in the place. Bedroom totally separate from the front of the room. Pretty much a full kitchen. We could have had a small dinner party. I highly recommend the Marina Motel. :-)

Trevor P.

Yelp
This is such a great place. Beautiful and secluded courtyard. Nice location and nice rooms. I didn't have a car, but they also had parking as well. The two women at the front desk are incredibly welcoming and kind as well.

Cassandra C.

Yelp
I absolutely adore Marina Motel. It truly is a hidden gem. When you pull into the courtyard it's like Stepping into another world. If we weren't in one of the street side rooms, we would never have known we were in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the country. I definitely recommend getting a courtyard room as the street can be noisy. It wasn't bad for me since I was in the bedroom and could close the door to muffle the noise but my friends who slept on the pull out couch bed had a hard time because their dogs couldn't sleep with the noise concerning them every so often. We booked last minute and I originally booked a 2 double bed courtyard room however dogs are only allowed in the rooms with kitchens or an area without carpeting. We got a phone call ahead of time to alert us of the confusion and I appreciated the heads up. We were relieved to hear that there would still be availability for us. Marina motel is in the perfect location just 2.5 blocks from the Palace of the Fine arts. I felt safe in this neighborhood as we walked after dark.

Harley E.

Yelp
Room 12 is awful. It's noisy. The beds are old, bow in the middle and are hard. The sheets were nice though. Would not stay here again. The room is supposed to be handicap accessible. It is not. The only way into the room and out of the room is by stairs. Wooden ones, that are very noisy when someone walks up and down them at 5 am. Again, would not recommend this place. They got the basics all wrong. Oh, and for the cost.. the beds should be better. Plus, the spiders... I get all the beautiful flowers around but I saw two spiders in the room within the same night.

Grace P.

Yelp
Had a great stay with my partner at the Marina Motel. We were able to park in our own covered spot, which made us feel very safe! The person we interacted with at the front desk was kind and helpful, and our room was cozy. Great location to stay if you want to be near the Palace of Fine Arts, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the motel depending on your pace. Hoping to stay here again!

Josh And Anne P.

Yelp
First: Dog and Family, Price friendly!!!- with private Garage beneath our room, and Dog Run (very clean and stocked with good poo bags). Plus: Lovely Staffs and Beautiful Environment in the convenient (walking everywhere) location. We had a room with kitchen because of our two German Shepherd dogs. There are silverware, cookware, utensils, dish detergent, etc. k cup coffee maker, toaster, etc.... We stayed two nights on Memorial weekend, no minimum day required and was the BEST price in town. Unbelievable place..... we WILL come back and visit amazing Sonoma and SF again because we have found the Marina Motel!!

Lorun M.

Yelp
Complete scammers! I reserved a room for the night to stay with my mom and my ESA dog online.. I even called the night before to make sure it was okay to have my ESA dog with us. Upon arrival the woman at the font desk told us that they had no idea that we had an ESA dog and that they no longer had any rooms left for us that could accommodate us. They could, however, manage to find a room for us for an additional $125... this is more than the entire room cost! The hotel is refusing to refund our money for the room and is trying to scam us into paying an additional $125. On top of giving away our room from underneath us and trying to charge us over double the original cost, the woman at the front desk was condescending and rude. She was literally refusing to work with us on any level... I even offered to leave my dog in the car all night! If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the first time I've ever encountered something like this and I travel constantly for work and bring my ESA with me every single time. Save yourself and avoid this place at all costs!

Lucero O.

Yelp
We stayed here one night and loved how beautiful the courtyard is. It was nice that parking is included. But.. BEWARE! Do not get a room on the street. Make sure you get a room in the courtyard. We had a homeless man knock on our door at 9pm. The person at the front desk came to ask him to leave immediately and then called the police. The man told the front desk clerk he was looking for his girlfriend, he might have been following us since we walked to get dinner.

Jeff M.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to stay in San Francisco. Particularly because of the free parking. The rooms are tiny and there aren't many amenities, but the location is perfect for me and again, can't beat free parking in SF.

Tyler A.

Yelp
The mattress was very comfortable and I appreciated the ability to park my car in a closed garage. The other items in the room were clean and comfortable and felt like good value for the price. Very conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and shops though a little farther to fisherman's warf than I originally expected (about 45 min walk).

Keith L.

Yelp
Room 50, the WiFi does not work, hot water to the kitchen sink is NFG, had to have an attendant turn on the heat, motel fax does not work. The management blames me for stuff not working, 'you gotta do this, and that to make things work'... Well the WiFi password you gave me is NFG. NOW WHAT? A Russian Shrug is the result. Room service is a third party $20 minimum, totally sucks because I throw away food. Parking for a full sized pickup, van, suv. NFG - garages too small

Marissa T.

Yelp
Love this place. Not at all your typical "motel". I'd refer to it more as a boutique inn. Awesome decorations, and you get your own garage parking. If the marketing on this place was better, and, it was referred to as a motel, I think they could easily be charging double what they are. Awesome find.

Arik A.

Yelp
Great, clean, charming place in San Francisco. Free parking available in a city where it's usually difficult/expensive to park. Very nice and helpful staff. Pretty central location that's close to Golden Gate Bridge and not far from Fisherman's Wharf.

Mama C S.

Yelp
The flowers around the motel are beautiful and make you forget about the old bed spreads and musty mildew smell inside your room. The front desk lady was very friendly at check in. Parking was nice (small private garage) and the motel location was good. Lucky Brand, Walgreens and Piano Bar are all very close.

Colby P.

Yelp
I flew in from NYC for my brother's wedding to stay in what looked like a nice family owned motel. The pictures of the outside did it justice, but the room we were given was on the street with lots of noise. Upon entering there was a smell of old food or mildew. We requested for cleaning and to move, but this wasn't done. The bathroom was nice enough, but the kitchen while functional was old and outdated. The WiFi password worked for one night, but mysteriously the WiFi drops our connection for the next three days! Nothing is done about this and we checked in every morning and night on the issue. There was no resolution, and they just stated they didn't know why it isn't working and placed blame on AT&T. They did not clean during each day when we left. No one makes the beds or replenishes towels. For 180 a night we should get basic conditioner and refills on coffee. My brother got ready for the wedding at our room and also commented on how it smelled and could use a carpet shampooing. Horrible service and had to go get toilet paper at the front office because they don't answer the phone. Also, they have a weird rule about no visitors after 10 pm... what? Don't count on good service if any. If you need a hotel in the area, probably book the cow hollow hotel it has a nice breakfast place near it called home plate. Big bay windows and nicer overall inside with immaculately clean rooms!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. Staff was very nice. The hotel has free parking for guest that are attached to the hotel which is convenient. I'd recommend this hotel!

Yelp
Garage parking per unit, cute courtyard, and a small driving distance to some really good food. On top of that, the beds were comfortable af. There's really nothing more you can ask for for such a decent price! The only downside was not knowing how to turn down the v old school heaters. We will definitely check back in here when we swing by SF again.

Yelp
I'm not writing this to be mean, but rather to inform the motel they *really* need to step up their cleaning. You'll have to click on "See all of Kathy's photo's" in this review to see the phone-grime situation, which was really gross. Also, do NOT get a room on the street...it is so noisy it is unbelievable. We heard traffic and garbage trucks and everything else, all night/morning. The trucks that passed our room literally shook the building and I thought we were experiencing aftershocks from the recent earthquake. There was a slight funky smell to the place. The pull out bed was horrible also, you can feel the bars and springs. The space was tight. Two positives, the gal named Marie at the desk (I think that was her name) was very nice. Also, the shower pressure was great. Overall though we would not stay here again. Not clean enough at all, and too noisy.

Yelp
After long search, we thought we found a decent place with fair price. However, the motel doesn't look anything like the pictures. It was the initial disappointment. Who knew worst is to come. We arrived pretty late and rushed to the reception. We confronted the rudest human being. She barely spoke English. Without looking up at us she handed over the keys without bothering to look at us or saying anything. We went to park our SUV in the garage that they proudly advertise but it was soon tiny that it can fit a slim bike not even a Harley Davidson. We managed to park somewhere in the corner. So, we went up to our room through a narrow staircase facing the street. The room was tiny and filled with such a foul unholy smell. Every car that passed shook the building like earthquake. We wanted immediately check out but the reception was closed. So we managed to put up with the torture of sleepless night. Early morning we went to the same rude lady to tell her that we're checking out. She was least bothered and threatened us she'll charge us for one more day. Unfortunately, she kept her promise and charged us for two nights, although we barely stayed 10 hours. I am still upset for the fact that Marina Motel has ruined our long awaited trip to San Francisco.

Yelp
I was very fortunate -- and grateful -- to find the Marina Motel! I live in San Francisco (Noe Valley/Mission area), and the owner of my apartment building, while renovating the unit above mine, uncovered a huge leak leading into my bathroom. I was told to vacate my unit the next day for over two weeks. I've been working from home since the COVID shutdown and, in addition to everything else, I had to pack up my computer equipment to take with me. I went to a friend's house, desperately searching for a place to stay with both a kitchen and decent WiFi. In San Francisco, in July, on a day's notice! Ha! Miraculously, I was able to book the charming Marina Motel. When my friend drove me into the courtyard, it was like entering a delightful garden in Bavaria. Trellises covered with vines, flowers everywhere, old world charm. Hummingbirds all over. My friend called it the "Fairyland Motel." And my room was perfect. A complete kitchen, a remodeled bathroom, comfortable bed, excellent WiFi, a desk -- the staff even found me a better desk chair! It's remarkably quiet considering it's off of Lombard. The building may be old, but it's very well-maintained. Two blocks away is the Palace of Fine Arts, and there's Chestnut Street with excellent restaurants and shops. But the best thing about the Marina Motel is the staff. To a person, they are incredibly friendly and helpful. What began as a stressful situation turned into a delightful surprise. I would definitely stay here again

Yelp
So I decided to give this place another chance and this time they did way better. The front desk clerk this time did an amazing job and i enjoyed my stay this time. I was able to relax and have a good time. I will stay there again if I need to since this time they made up for their last issue by being super nice and providing excellent customer service.

Yelp
Wonderful stay! Wonderful price! We got a room with a kitchenette in the courtyard. It was so quiet and peaceful with all the flowers. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, Palace of Fine Arts. Parking in garages (though the garages might be tight if you have a large vehicle.) Absolutely recommend!
