Mario Surf School

Expensive and absolutely terrible. Got in the water only to support my son who was a first timer and a bit shy. I quit half way through the lesson! One instructor for 2 newbies definitely didn’t cut it. He kept telling me to relax instead of freaking telling me what to do! No help getting through the waves or with the board so I ran out of gas quickly. Luckily I found a much better place the next day and we caught some waves and for a much cheaper price.

Mario Becerril on Cerritos Beach is a world-class surf instructor: thorough, diligent, patient, also chill. Taught me how to stand up and take my first wave. His team of a half dozen instructors, including brothers Odin, Martin, & Luis, are true professionals who will take care of you whether you're a nervous beginner or already know what you're doing. Find Taka and Diego, from San Juanico, on the sand close to the big yellow Hacienda Cerritos. Lessons incl complimentary chairs, umbrella, wetsuit or rash guard; keep using their boards afterwards to practice.

We're a family of 6 who had never surfed before. Taka, Luis, and Coco were great instructors who got all of us up riding the waves in 1 hour including our 8 year old who loved it. We enjoyed a 2 hour lesson. The beach was very nice and had drinks.

Took our kids there for surfing lessons and they had a blast. Got up on the board quickly and the instructors did a nice job of working with them. They are not quite ready for the pro tour but they very much enjoyed the two hour lesson. Booked on line which worked well

I did the three day lesson package and it was so fun and helpful! The team was welcoming, kind, and warm. I improved and would 100% go back!

We got a two hour lesson for our son, who had surfed before elsewhere. We explained in Spanish and English that he needed a refresher then a spotter to help him watch the waves since he not familiar with Los Cerritos. He did get the refresher but it seemed like the instructor just didn’t want to be teaching. He pushed our son out to catch the waves, but we saw limited interactions otherwise. Our son shared that the instructor barely talked to him. They came out once for the instructor to ask me how much time was left. We chose MSS bc the price was reasonable for two hours and they take CC. We went with another school two days later for $80/hr for one hour and it was night and day! Would not recommend this surf school.

One of the best experiences of my life. I had never used a surfboard. Very patient and excellent service. In addition to the surf lessons, we were able to use the boards and loungers at no additional cost after the lesson was over. Congratulations 🎊 Mario Surf 🏄‍♂️

Taka was an AMAZING instructor !! Clear communicator & very sweet personality! He was able to get me up on board!! What a treat! Go for it!!!
