I came with a group of friends for dinner last night and we were all very disappointed. Firstly, I had booked a table in the garden and when I called up I specifically asked for a high table as we were eating dinner, which the man on the phone had told me I would be getting. We rocked up about 10 minutes early and asked a girl at the bar about our booking, she walked us over to where our table would be and it was two small coffee tables with one couch and two little chairs. This was not what I had asked for, and to add to this someone was already sitting at it. She went and spoke to this man sitting at the table and came back and said “he will leave in about 15 if you’re happy to wait”. We all just sort of looked at each other and then asked if we could possibly move into the dining room as this was not the table I had booked. After a while of confused looks and asking other staff members, we finally were able to move there. Our ordering process was fine, however once we got our food it went downhill again. One of my friends had ordered a medium-rare steak, but it came out cooked well-done, so she had to send it back to get another one. One of my other friends ordered the kids burger, but a kids fish came out instead, which no one else ordered, so she had to send that back to get redone. Myself and my other friend got a caeser salad with no egg or anchovies and add fried chicken. Her meal came out as requested, however my meal came with an egg on top, which had opened and run through the whole salad. When the girl brought it out I said “Sorry I had asked for no egg” and instead of saying she would go back and fix it she just stared at me blankly and said “You can just take it off the top?” I had to then ask her to take it back and get me what I had ordered as I can’t really have egg due to a small intolerance. That then caused chaos as I had multiple staff members come out and tell me there was egg in the dressing, which I understand completely, but I then asked if I could just have the sauce on the side as it is a small intolerance and I’ve had the dressing before, I simply just didn’t want the egg on top, I was told “I don’t think we can”. Thankfully, after checking with the kitchen for the 4th time at this point, they were able to bring me out a salad with no egg on top and the dressing on the side. Finally, as we went to pay one of my other friends was charged for a full size salt and pepper squid meal when she was only given and only asked for a kids sized one. Luckily, the lady who served us when paying was helpful and was able to fix this issue for us. Overall the staff were very disappointing and made it seem like it was our fault our meals were wrong, as they seemed annoyed to take it back to the kitchen. A very disappointing experience, especially as we have all worked in hospitality before or still do and this would be unacceptable at our workplace.
