Stayed here early morning on June 16th. Inn keeper was extremely friendly, accommodating, and willing to go far out of her way to make this stay pleasant. As we hurried out the door in the morning to Yosemite she made sure we had food. Wishing we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy this wonderful hotel. Hoping to be back in the future.

My partner and I called at a horrible hour of the morning in hopes of getting a room at the last moment. The caretaker was so kind and welcoming, even after we woke her up. As we hurried out later in the morning with a tight schedule, she insisted we eat and shared her sentiments of wishing we had time to spend in her space. Historical location with profound upkeep and a warmth that keeps prompting me to plan another visit. It's definitely worth spending more time in the future!

We had a wonderful experience staying here and visiting the little town (a CDP actually) of Mariposa. Teddy Roosevelt stayed at the Mariposa Hotel once (think Yosemite and National Parks). Check the website, it says it all. The Innkeeper, Mary is friendly and truly cares about her guests, so different than most places. Needless to say, we felt like family and we'll be back.

Everything about our 2 night stay here was awesome. Mary is a truly nice person. The room was absolutely lovely and won me the second I saw the giant stained glass unicorn window. The bed was super comfy. It was quiet and convenient. The balcony is a lovely place to have breakfast. Mary was also 2 for 2 with her restaurant recommendations so definitely listen to her when she tells you things. Also, dramatically less expensive than many of the places in the area.

Rustic, >100 years old but fully furnished and very clean. Teddy Roosevelt stayed there en route on horseback to Yosemite. The proprietor Mary was so very accommodating and a historical expert on the hotel and the town. Furnished w/ well-kept antiques and a panorama of vintage pics of a by-gone era arrayed on the walls. Totally unique and so much better than a "modern" clone motel you can visit anywhere.

If you like to stay in vintage Hotels then you must give this one a try. Our room had high ceilings, comfortable bed and a nice size bathroom. It was well over 100 degrees outside and the AC had no issues making us comfortable. Continental breakfast included!!! Out back there is a Saloon connected to the Hotel with a ton of character!!!! Also the owner was awesome!!! She took care of us and explained everything and included a nice tourist map and recommended where to have the best prime rib dinner!!!!!

The Mariposa Hotel Inn provided a wonderful stay for my long weekend trip to Yosemite. It's less than an hour's drive away from the Park, and located in the heart of Mariposa between restaurants and bars. The Hotel Inn itself is located on the second floor of a historic facade, above a number of small local businesses. I contacted the Innkeeper, Mary, about one month before booking our stay. Because the trip was tentative at that point, Mary was very helpful and held the room for me with a generous cancellation policy. It's so wonderful to find honest, good businesses like the MHI these days. When we finally arrived, we were super happy with the room's size, convenience, and location. It had everything we needed for a long weekend away. Microwaves and fridges are also included. Outside on the veranda / deck, are tables where guests can relax and eat breakfast while watching many hummingbirds fly around and drink water. It is an amazing & blissful experience. Continental breakfast is included each morning and includes a healthy serving of muffins, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, and OJ. We were able to eat our fill each morning to prepare for the day's adventure. We would definitely love to return and stay one day. Thank you MARY!!

Google
Rustic historic hotel right in centre of Mariposa. Lots of charm, and comfortable stay.||Room features are antique, as is bed and sheets! But we found them to be reasonably comfortable and clean. ||Breakfast options were continental, which can be enjoyed on the veranda watching hummingbirds feed.||Enjoyable stay, obviously dated so don't expect modern comforts, but that is its charm.

Yelp
Our stay here was wonderful! To start off with, the hostess Marian was the kind of welcoming, caring person that makes you feel right at home. And the other staff were just as fun and helpful. Downtown Mariposa is a wonderful old town and the hotel itself is a slice of early 20th century California history. Our group of four stayed in two rooms and each room was just right. Large rooms with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, good lighting, and a great A/C. The real perk for us was the covered patio in back. Comfortable in the morning for enjoying the complimentary breakfast snack items and coffee, yes. But even better, we ordered take out food every evening and brought it up to the patio to enjoy al fresco dining and wine. To make sure we had a great dinner, Mary made sure we had cutlery, glasses and condiments to make our dinner even better. We can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Got a room here to visiting Yousemite park. It's a historic hotel with lots of memorabilia. Pretty clean and organized. Located right downtown next to shops and restaurants, a good thing. Under it is a local bar with lots of local customers. It's good that it's right beneath you, but it's also not so good. Great hostess up from desk. Breakfast is ok. It did the job for a couple of nights.

Yelp
Our Hostess Mary was the absolute best you could ask for. The place is exactly what you want if you're into experiencing the history of an area. Right in the middle of the town, the nearby shops are great.

Yelp
This place is wonderful. The room was very comfy, clean and the bed was cloud like. There is a great veranda where I had a nice continental breakfast every morning and was visited by hummingbirds. The hotel is a time piece that takes you back to when it was built. Mary, the owner, is always there and you can walk into her office any time. She is very friendly and always willing to help. The day I went for my hike she grabbed an apple and gave it to me. It's in the middle of the town so it's super convenient to get anywhere. I will definately stay here again. Thanks Mary!

Yelp
The inn is located in a beautiful old historic building in Mariposa. It is in the second floor- above wonderful shops. Check in was in the parlor of the innkeepers suite- it felt like being welcomed into her home! The room was stunning- vintage furniture, beautiful bedding, yet modern amenities: mini fridge, full bath, TV, A/C ( which was very much appreciated, as the temps during the day were over 100 degrees). Close to many restaurants and small cafes. Highly recommend!!!! Love this place!

Yelp
You've gotta stay here. Everyone mentions Mary because she's absolutely awesome. Yes, the rooms are baroque but that's the entire point of this place. It's out of this time and totally unique. Of corse, one of the best parts is that you can eat your meals or enjoy a drink on the excellent 3rd floor patio. It does her evening sun so breakfast and/or after dusk drinks are best. Seriously, it's not to be missed. Enjoy. If you're looking for a standard chain hotel, this isn't for you.

Yelp
Had a wonderful weekend stay. Mary was so over accommodating. We were running late (past office hours late) heading to Mariposa from San Francisco and Mary waited up for us and showed us around when we arrived. The room was a beautiful, quaint and comfortable room. We will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
Great little gem of a hotel "near" Yosemite in the heart of Mariposa an "old western town" where any minute one could expect cowboys storming into town yelling and shooting bullets into the air :) (the nearest town we could find anyway, about an hour's drive from the park). Our room was spacious with an equally spacious bathroom. The shower wasn't much to write home about but I think it's because of water conservation in California in general. We appreciated the air conditioning in our room especially when it was in the 90's and humid outside even at night. The free WiFi was great to have as well. The room wasn't the cheapest around but in July in Yosemite high-season it's kind of expected. There was "breakfast" included in the room with decent OJ, bananas, muffins, tea and "coffee" (note the quotation marks: it's not what I would call "breakfast" nor "coffee".) I had to shave off a star because there was a loud live band playing in the bar below well past 10 pm on a Saturday night. Not good. Just know what you may be potentially in for especially if you want to go to bed early.

Yelp
What a great little place if you can get in. I think there are only 7 rooms. They are large and comfy and the live on site manager makes you feel so welcome. She has so many years of knowledge about the area. If you're going to hike Yosemite, this place is a great value. Stay in mariposa rather than close to the park. I will definitely be back

Yelp
Only good thing was the location. I don't want to bore you with all the negatives, but trust me ,go elsewhere ! The hotel is undergoing construction and may in the future be acceptable, but construction is no excuse for half full beer bottles under bed and half eaten cookies behind microwave. We paid almost 200 bucks to stay here. Ouch! Don't be an idiot like myself, stay at another hotel in town. Mariposa lodge across the street looked nice. Happy trails!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here last Friday and it was amazing! We got in late as we had to battle Bay Area traffic...and Lyn, the Inn keeper, was waiting up for us with the key. She showed us to our room (Nana's Room- adorable), and also gave us the "grand tour" of the hotel. After we were settled in, we strolled through the small town and "window shopped" as everything was closed- I can say with confidence I would love to come back and spend a day browsing the antique shops! Over all, it was an amazing experience, and being somewhat of a hotel snob, I would recommend the Mariposa Inn Hotel to anyone willing to stay about an hour outside Yosemite.

Yelp
My husband and I were a little late in reserving a hotel for our trip to CA, so everything in Yosemite itself was booked solid. In our search for reasonably priced, local lodging, we came across the Mariposa Hotel-Inn. We reserved Della's Room (each room has its own name), which was described as a smaller, more masculine room. Since we were fully expecting a frilly floral creampuff of a room when we saw the website, we were pretty pleased at the idea of something a little less... frou-frou. The service was great - friendly and folksy without being overbearing, as these little hotels can sometimes be. There's a complimentary breakfast served on the back terrace, which is pretty and overlooks the mountains surrounding the town. The blueberry scones were especially delicious. The bed was very, very comfortable - moreso than the Best Western down the road would have been, for sure. The only complaint we had was that hot water was sometimes in and out, if the people in the next room flushed or washed their hands while you were in the shower. It wasn't bad though, and it's the only negative thing I have to say about the place. It's located in a cute little town with antique shops and a restaurant or two, and it takes maybe 35 minutes to get to the park entrance. I'd highly recommend checking them out if you want a quiet place to stay near Yosemite for a reasonable price.

Yelp
Chose this location based off of previous reviews, not impressed. There is absolutely zero privacy; windows have no blinds to block view of your room so if/when you change anyone can see. They also should not advertise free wifi, considering it doesn't work; I needed to use it for important, time-sensitive communication between myself and work, was highly disappointed. Back porch seems to be an addition, very creaky and the entire frame shakes with movement. Noise all night from screaming patrons next door. The only positive part of the stay is that the staff was kind, but even that only goes so far. We paid $190 for one night and there isn't even a proper shower head; the one provided extends from the faucet and does not give enough length for taller visitors. I am not exaggerating when I say I showered on my knees.

Yelp
The Mariposa Inn Hotel is run by the lovely Mary, who is very attentive and helpful. This is a small historic inn (only 7 rooms!) with a lot of character so it won't have all the bells and whistles of a modern place, but it's homey, located in a town with restaurant options and close enough to Yosemite. A warning for disabled individuals: there is a flight of stairs in the front and two in the back. Wifi was glitchy and didn't want to work some of the time. Breakfast was simple and standard (breads, fruit, tea, juice, coffee). There's also a diner right across the street with more breakfast options. Room was clean and super spacious with plush carpet, AC, wall AC unit, and ceiling fan. Shower had enough low pressure hot water for a ten minute shower. I slept soundly on a Tuesday night in the quiet town although I heard the weekends can get louder with the surrounding bars. Wake up with the sun shining into stained glass windows and head out for the day in Yosemite! All in all, staying at the Mariposa Inn Hotel was a cool experience allowing me to step back in time while keeping all of the basics I need in a hotel.

Yelp
Amazing local flavor. Easy access to Yosemite. And the new innkeeper (whose name escapes me) has wonderful stories about his days in the valley, starting up Atari, and meeting a young guy named Steve J. who went on to found a little company you may have heard of. To start with, they kept their reception open late for us as my party was, as always, running late. Street parking was available right out front, and check in was a breeze. Our room was large, with one Queen size bed, as well as another twin that had a trundle underneath (ie: the rooms can accommodate up to four people without a problem). The best part of the evening was when the innkeeper broke out some complimentary adult beverages, and sat with us on the balcony telling us about his life story (which is fascinating, trust me). When we retired for the night, the beds were comfortable. When we woke up in the morning, the complimentary continental breakfast was fantastic. This is no Holiday Inn continental: coffee, tea, yerba mate, bottled water, fresh OJ. Hardboiled eggs, regular toast, whole wheat toast, bananas, oranges, apples, jam and butter. Yogurt. Trail mix bars. Plus the morning paper, more good conversation, and a tour of the vacant rooms so that we could see all of the handmade, custom woodwork in the hotel. Really wonderful place to stay if you're looking for a weekend away from the city or you're heading into Yosemite.

Yelp
We stayed at the Mariposa Hotel Inn recently for 1 night in the Evelyn and Carmelo room. Overall we were quite disappointed for the following reasons; 1. Shower. We had two showers during our stay (or tried to), the hot water only lasted about 10 minutes only on both occasions, leaving the second person to shower a bit disgruntled! After a day of walking in Yosemite, in what is billed as the honeymoon suite, this was very disappointing and totally unacceptable really. 2. Noise. The room we stayed at was in the back of the building, which you might assume would make it quieter than the bar/street sides, however a lot of people were congregating out there to smoke, drink, talk etc. late at night. 3. Value for money. Late November should be the off season with lower prices and we found this to be very overpriced for what you got compared to other hotels we stayed at, including in the vicinity. The breakfast of packaged pastries, muffins, yoghurt & fruit, was adequate but certainly no better than a chain hotel. Would also mention that accessibility isn't great for those with any issues, 2 flights of stairs from rear car park. On the positive side, Mary the innkeeper was absolutely lovely and willing to oblige. The king sized bed was comfortable. The back deck would be nice in summer with hummingbirds. For a hotel that prides itself on being a better option than a chain hotel, they really need to up their game. There are certainly some charming aspects to the hotel although these are let down by the standard of finish which was unprofessional/scruffy in a do-it-yourself way. I would usually choose just about anything over a "bland" hotel room however given our short stay, a cheaper hotel in a quieter location with the same breakfast and more hot water for a shower would have been a better choice for us.

Yelp
Cute place, nice bed. It would benefit from a little maintenance, and some truth in advertising. The hotel has some nice Victorian decor, and the cleaning staff does a great job making the room it's best, with the exception of the tub that needs some soap scum removed. The wood shelf in the bathroom needs a coat of varnish, and the bubbling paint in the bathroom needs to be sanded and repainted. The decorative curtain in my bathroom also had what looked to be old blood stains, and the fabric was faded and worn. I also would have liked to have a shower in my room, but I got a tub with a yellowing plastic handheld sprayer. I also got a bar of soap with a water-damaged wrapper. Breakfast the next morning was nothing like the one I saw in pictures. There was some fruit, a couple of tiny pastries, and Activia yogurt. On a good note, the towels were wonderful, the AC unit worked really well, and it was a good night of sleep on a nice mattress. Next time I am in Mariposa, I will probably find another place to stay.

Yelp
Comfortable, clean, quiet and lovely garden setting. Friendly staff and nice prices. The offices also gave nice recommendations for dining and local treats .

Yelp
This is a beautiful old hotel full of antiques and charm. The new proprietors (in their 80s) are some of the nicest people I've met in a long time; they went out of their way to set up a massage appointment for me. Each room is unique, including one with the original claw foot bath tub. They have a nice back patio with a gorgeous view of the mountains. And they have recently updated the wireless. So much better than the other chain hotels down the road. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mariposa!

Yelp
Clean, comfortable, and friendly at a reasonable price. Rooms have a cute, old-timey character.

Ann F.

Yelp
The hotel itself is cool but the management unprofessional. I feel like a passenger on United Airlines or something. After reserving a room months in advance, the owner approached me in one of the shops below and told me she had double booked our room and that she was giving our room to someone else. I had two 5 year old twins with me and my husband. There is no where else to stay in this town. Don't book a room here as it will not be secure. Total disappointment. Hotel fail.

Bob P.

Yelp
We really liked staying in Mariposa for our Yosemite Park visit and this hotel was very quaint and serene. We had a king room which was very spacious but our only complaint would be with the 90's TV. It was a 25" tube model with a remote that had three buttons: 1) on/off 2) volume up/down 3) channel change up/down. Come on...really? Even a 2000 TV would be better than this.

Yelp
We arrived early evening with out reservation she was kind enough to let us see the rooms availble bed was super comfy over all great experience

Barbara B.

Yelp
Quaint but run down, owners are very friendly, however, the bar downstairs on the weekend is very loud. The rooms need a lot of tlc, example the wallpaper is held up with scotch tape, but they are kept clean. You have to haul your luggage upstairs and they do have breakfast but it's not a hot breakfast only muffins, coffee and fruit. WiFi is slow and the TV is snowy. In the shower the hot water will run out within 10 minutes so forget conditioning hair if it's long.

Audrey H.

Yelp
What a wonderful quaint and friendly place to stay. The Innkeeper Mary was so gracious. She welcomes you with a smile on her face, happy to have you there. A nice continental breakfast awaits you in the morning.Ted is also there, and if you are lucky he will play his guitar and sing you a song. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were plush. The patio in the back is nice to relax and watch the humming birds and have a glass of wine. The little town is full of charm and has good places to eat. I would recommend this place as there are very few like this Historic 1901 Inn. So go and stay with Mary and say " Hi from Audrey"

Steven F.

Yelp
New innkeeper who was attentive and gracious. Room was clean, reasonably priced, with super comfy beds, and perfect location. On the National Registry of Historic Places, this hotel is unique with a ton of charm. A great experience, we will be back.
