Amazing local flavor. Easy access to Yosemite. And the new innkeeper (whose name escapes me) has wonderful stories about his days in the valley, starting up Atari, and meeting a young guy named Steve J. who went on to found a little company you may have heard of.
To start with, they kept their reception open late for us as my party was, as always, running late. Street parking was available right out front, and check in was a breeze. Our room was large, with one Queen size bed, as well as another twin that had a trundle underneath (ie: the rooms can accommodate up to four people without a problem).
The best part of the evening was when the innkeeper broke out some complimentary adult beverages, and sat with us on the balcony telling us about his life story (which is fascinating, trust me).
When we retired for the night, the beds were comfortable. When we woke up in the morning, the complimentary continental breakfast was fantastic. This is no Holiday Inn continental: coffee, tea, yerba mate, bottled water, fresh OJ. Hardboiled eggs, regular toast, whole wheat toast, bananas, oranges, apples, jam and butter. Yogurt. Trail mix bars. Plus the morning paper, more good conversation, and a tour of the vacant rooms so that we could see all of the handmade, custom woodwork in the hotel.
Really wonderful place to stay if you're looking for a weekend away from the city or you're heading into Yosemite.
