Wow, this is a beautiful bakery shop with lots to see and buy. My husband got the Texas donut and I got the Apple fritter. Unfortunately, they were both so good! We also got iced coffee and espresso. Very good. Enough caffeine to take us home, 1.5 drive. We also purchased strawberry and raspberry jam. Looking forward to trying them soon. The cakes they displayed are a great labour of love. Prices are very reasonable. All the staff were so friendly and ready to serve you. Slots of sitting at the back and upstairs. Looking forward to visiting again.

Google
An artisanal store that specializes in baked goods. Various selection of sauces, salsas, jams, and desserts. Would recommend trying out their dessert delights with coffee 🤙🏻. They also provide homemade sandwiches/wraps if you’re super hungry. Check out their basement and retail stores. All interconnected within the area

Go-to place in Orillia for sure! Lived here a couple years and loved getting the pulled pork on pretzel bun.... so many great sandwiches, snacks, breads, baked goods + more.... you must stop here if in town.... plus the basement is a full candy shop with fudge, hot sauces & more

Their cakes only look good, but the taste is nothing near what you would expect from an independent bakery. Sadly, even small business have resorted to the use of cheap ingredients such as margarine, artificial vanilla flavours and powder creams for mass productions. For someone with a trained “taste”, you can right away tell the difference between real, expensive ingredients like butter, real cream vs. margarine and powdered creams. Powdered creams lack richness and have a flat and overly sweet taste (and those how Mariposa cakes taste like!). Also the cakes are less flavourful, which indicates that no butter was used. Lastly, the texture of the sponge: when it crumbles and feels dry (as in Mariposa cakes), this is a sign of margarine or another low quality fat. I’m not even gonna go into the frosting (ewww…just pure sugar and vegetable shortening). Do not buy unless you enjoy fake cakes! I bought several kinds (mini cakes) and threw them all out!

Walked by here when visiting Orillia and saw a bunch of people walking in - surprised how large the inside is with 4 levels. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon but they had things flowing well. Lots of options for treats and baked goods. Had the ham and cheese croissant for lunch and a Homer donut for later. They were both delicious and I would order them again. Quite a bit of seating on the upper levels.

Google
Oh my, the Mariposa Market is a treasure trove and a treasure hunt!! We loved it. Fair warning, it is pricey. They have a HUGE range of everything - jams, breads, candy, cakes, pickles, maple syrup, mustard, cookies, pies, etc. They have a variety of knick-knacks. So much of what they sell is unique. And not everyone will like everything. This is the place you get to try different and interesting flavours of things. The market is over two large floors and is usually very busy over weekends. Streetside parking is available.

Google
The apple fritter is massive and delicious! All of their donuts are the size of a dinner plate! The beef pot pie was one of the best I have ever had. They have endless varieties of sandwiches, baked goods and home made things to go.

Google
We stopped in here while needing to pass some time while our car was at the shop. We easily spent 45 minutes in the store browsing the large selection of canned and baked goods as well as a selection of giftware. We taste tested some delicious fudge, myself not being a big fan of fudge still throughly enjoyed it. All the staff were friendly, the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Lunch was very reasonably priced, we enjoyed a turkey stuffing sandwich for lunch which was 10/10 and tried some delicious desserts. I highly recommend checking out this market! Definitely a gem.

Yelp
This is on our way to Orillia, we stopped here to get something to eat as it was lunch time . It's a busy store , most likely because of the season it was super busy . I couldn't get any lunch item , they said it was finished . but there was a huge variety of cup cakes, cookies, cakes all sizes , ginger bread cookies , snowman cookies , lots of different jams, from fruits to red bell pepper jam and breads . Will go another time when it's not too busy .

Yelp
Was told about this place that had amazing donuts. It seemed okay to me. They have a lot of variety but in terms of value it's meh. They have hot foot as well but we focused only on the sweets and it was pricy and didn't blow our minds at all. It would be fine if we didn't come on purpose but having to spend extra time to come it ended up being a huge let down. Perhaps it was over hyped. Service was great and there is ample seating and washrooms inside the establishment.

Yelp
So cute, fantastic baked goods and sandwiches. Picked up some delicious butter tarts, a few quiche, and a cake during our stay in town.

Yelp
If you are craving a good chicken ceasar wrap, this is your place. Literally recommend going here everytime someone asks for a place to go, might be basic but it has the vibe, the food, the place everything is good. Lines may be long but that's just how you know it's bomb

Yelp
If you love a sweet treat. This is the place to go!! The family enjoys mixing and matching the 6 mini cakes.

Yelp
I was in Orillia for a weekend getaway and dropped by Mariposa Market. I'm blown away by how big this place is. You'll find a vast amount of baked goods, jams, donuts, sandwiches, merch, and more. At first, I thought it was just a market store, and you grab and go, but as you move towards the back and upstairs, you can see so many seats. There's enough seating to easily fit 50 people or more. There's also a basement which I haven't checked out, but I think they sell chocolate downstairs. What a unique store, definitely worth exploring and bringing some treats back to the city. Out of the few things we tried, I have to say the cornbread is the standout item. Super moist and a bit sweet. Better than cornbreads I've had at BBQ restaurants in the past.

Yelp
Mariposa is a great spot to stop for lunch and en even better spot for baked goods! Be sure to try the Texas sized donuts!

Yelp
This place is just the best one of the stops I always make when I get to to cottage country. They've got so many yummy things to try and there's always something new to see. The place is huge with three levels of stuff to explore and yummy sandwiches, coffee and drinks, baked goods for days and so much more!

Yelp
Mariposa market is one of the oldest market in Orillia. I've been going to Mariposa market for year. it's always super busy on special occasions .We went for Mother's Day lunch this year, but we were disappointed because everything for lunch was sold out by 2 o'clock. We end up buying some cake, loaves and butter tarts.

Yelp
This is an interesting store, thoughtfully curated, with a wide array of baked, pre-made and jarred food items that all look pretty fabulous and are arranged beautifully. So it was beyond surprising, given all of this, to find a selection of t-shirts, prominently displayed in the middle of the store, with some truly offensive slogans on them - base, unintelligent, misogynistic - and in such stark contrast to the rest of this store. I spoke in passing about this a few days later with another store owner who had seen and agreed with the offensiveness of the display, and she suggested perhaps the store owners aren't actually aware of it. Hard to believe this would be true, but if it is it's a pretty glaring oversight.

Yelp
Great bakery with many deluges things to eye while in there. We love sitting outside in the summer and enjoying a cold drink or just some coffee

Yelp
If you're looking for something awesome to excite your tastebuds, Mariposa Market might be the place for you. Their goodies (breads, Muskoka Berry Cheesecake Tarts and Cherry Cheesecake tarts) are exceptional! They also have a cafe, scones, doughnuts, pies, sauces, jams, cupcakes, strudels, chocolate, clothes, a gift shop and more! Worth it!

Yelp
This place is a 3 floor indoor market that is the perfect place for a cute little date! Unfortunately, I arrived when it was 30 minutes before closing so I couldn't look at each of the floors. The main floor is where their café and bakery is located. You'll find lots and lots of baked goods, savory pies and other foods, and homemade jams and jellies! The top floor looked like it consisted of a cute little gift shop with many little souvenir items, and the bottom floor has a fudge factory of some sort (this was closed due to COVID when I was there). I got 4 savory dishes to try and was not disappointed!! It was warmed up perfectly and the puff pastry for the pies were so soft and flakey. The only thing that could be improved on was that the meat for the meat pie and Guiness pie was a LITTLE BIT dry, but this was forgiven because of how flavorful each pie was. I will definitely be coming back a second time to try more of their foods and even some baked goods! The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly even though it was close to closing time. I hear that this is a family own marketplace, which is great! If you enjoy supporting small local businesses and a cute little indoor marketplace, you'll love Mariposas.

Yelp
We were in town for the festival and happened upon this place. Fantastic egg salad sandwich and a baked veggie one with asparagus and cheese. We went downstairs and got fudge. Great selection of jam and various sauces. The service was excellent and we were happy to get some fresh food. Will return next time we are at Mariposa festival.

Yelp
Worth it! We stopped by on our way back home. We were recommended the Skor Butter Tarts and Cinnamon buns and we picked up the pack of huge Cinnamon for $9.99. We couldn't resist trying several of their donuts with a coffee. The Homer donut, cinnamon twist, chocolate dipped and Boston cream were sugary goodness with a very light dough. Coffee was not bad, for sure not watery. Will look forward to next time,

Yelp
Stopped by Mariposa Market on our way back from Gravenhurst. It is definitely a n all in one type of market. So many goodies to taste. My son got the Homer Donut and an Oreo mini cake and we couldn't stop there. Also got a funny Tshirt for him. Absolutely love this place. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I would recommend it 100%.

Yelp
Not sure if we went late (40 mins before close) so there wasn't a lot of food available. Social distancing was enforced, and we bought a delicious Sheppard's pie to go. Muffin was a tad too sweet for our taste but both were inexpensive.

Yelp
Reheated food but surprisingly good. Eating upstairs is a unique experience not to,be missed. Tin ceiling is unique. Best baked goods in Orillia with great selection. Lots of interesting things to shop for also.

Yelp
Great service, attentive and knowledgeable staff and wonderful ambiance. Gifts with a difference and treats that tempt from every corner.

Yelp
Incredible bakery that makes the most amazing baked stuff. Doughnuts like they were made 50 years ago. All fresh and baked in house. The selection is incredible. Not to mention the size of this place is 3 massive floors. From serving coffee, to having a light lunch to just grabbing a baked cookie this place has something special for almost everyone.

Yelp
Mariposa Market is a cute bakery in Orillia! I would definitely recommend everyone to pop in at least once if they are ever in around the Orillia area! It's like a sweet toothed person's dream come true. ..They have everything from pies, to cupcakes to ..cookies..donuts .. muffins .. bagels and so much more ! We decided to get the homer donut as well as the Sea Salted Caramel shortbread and Moose tracks cookies. We ate the donut right away- it was delish but not really worth the price (close to $3 ) . It tasted no different from your local Tims donut. Aesthetics I would definitely give it A+, it was so pretty !! As for the cookies, I saved these and ate them the following day! The Sea Salted Caramel shortbread was so tasty and melted right in your mouth. The Moose tracks ( white, dark chocolate,Skor) had a good taste but was a bit hard and difficult to chew (To be fair to them , I did wait a day to devour these ...! ). Price was 60cents pp or $6.99 for a dozen .Overall I give this place 3.5-4 stars!

HelloMonke E.

Yelp
A large 'Farm Market' style Bakery and Eatery. They use locally sourced Fruit and Veggies to make their Sweet and Savory baked goods. Excellent selection of Breakfast Breads, Pastries, Breads, Cake and Pies. My complaints would be VERY slow service. And not very frequent cleaning g of tables, dishes, cutlery and trays. Possibly either understaffed or staff poorly trained to clean up places where folks want to sit and eat. Recommend for the baked goods on every level

Yelp
Great selection. Fresh bakery items. Good selection of unique merchandise at reasonable prices.

Yelp
Great service from the staff lunch was good and we bought some donuts and cookies to take home everything was fantastic.

Yelp
Stopped here driving from Pittsburgh to northern Ontario.... Was super tired and needed a good espresso. On the way up, I got a certain drink and it definitely was legit. I was super surprised at the quality asking for for shots of espresso plus heavy cream steamed. On the way back I asked for six shots and heavy cream. But the ladies asked if I wanted short or long and explain the difference. I got short shots plus something that was lighter than heavy cream, but heavier than half and half because that is what they suggested would foam better. Oh my gosh that's the best cup of espresso I've ever had. And I live in Los Angeles with snobby coffee shops, and I only buy organic beans and grind them at home. And they're espresso drinkS are better than anything I've had in Los Angeles.!!!!

Yelp
Meat pie and homer donut was good. Many things I wanted to try but no space in the stomach. A bit on the pricy side but worth the experience.

Yelp
What a perfect spot. If you are craving homemade comfort you cannot top this place. Home made savoury and sweet and every type if carb brraddy goodness you can imagine. Limited seats to dine in and market style environment make it all extra cosy.

Yelp
This market and bakery/cafe is on the Main street of Orillia downtown. The store is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. It feels like an European bistro. The center of the establishment it's a bakery, flanked on both sides by stores, one is a clothing store, and the other is a Home Goods store. They sell really neat things on both stores. The bakery has a lot of choices for savory and sweet goods. Great place to have breakfast or lunch; there are a few tables to seat and enjoy your food. We enjoyed our savory items very much, all of them. Their sweet baked goods were not as good as Wilkies though.
google avatar

Doug W.

Yelp
Great fresh lunch and baked goods . Lots of variety . Always good . Would give them a solid 5** if they sold kawartha dairy chocolate milk . If you want donuts on the weekend best to call ahead and order early.

Yelp
Mariposa Market Stores is a cute shop to stop by when you are in the Orillia area. We kind of used it as a pit shop and picked up some baked goods when we were doing a day trip in the area. The vibe here is lively and quite busy even on a weekday morning! There is a cafe for a full meal or you can just get something to go or pick up some bread, cookies, cupcakes which are baked in house! A fun place to visit even if you ended up not buying anything!
google avatar

Ange E.

Yelp
We popped in here for lunch and were impressed with all the different options and baked goods. We had the oven roast turkey sandwich which was really good and had an amazing maple mustard sauce. We didn't try any baked items or desserts which they had a large selection but they looked good and might try them if ever back in the area.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Came here hungover. Felt like I was having basic white girl brunch, but in a good way. Awesome food and very hipster environment. The portions seem small but it's very filling - they actually stuff their wraps with lots of meat. Didn't think Orillia had much to offer, but this is definitely a great place to check out. Save room for dessert - I made that mistake and Mark wouldn't let me get a peanut butter cookie. Shame! We rolled up in a pick-up truck, so we definitely blended in the locals. We didn't want to be pegged as "those darn Toronto kids". I recommend doing the same.

Meghan M.

Yelp
Great local attraction. Would definitely recommend stopping by when travelling through Orillia!

Yelp
We met two other couples here for lunch today. I was very impressed with the display of baked goods and the variety of items to choose from for our lunches. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Each of our group had various combinations of soup, salads, sandwiches and the chicken pot pie. Everything was exceptional. We will have to make another trip to sample the baked goods. A very pleasant experience and a bonus - there are plenty of washrooms which were especially clean. We will definitely be back and recommending this spot to others.

Yelp
I like to clerefy that this Market is a great place to visit, prices are a bit over the top but is fun to just look around at all the stuff. However because of my experience I will give the management of the Mariposa Market Stores a one star or less if I could. My Girlfriend and I decided to go and visit this famous shop last Tuesday July 23, and spend the day there. We made the long trip as we are from York region. We parked in the back of the complex, we went inside the Mariposa and shopped around, purchased some stuff and had some lunch too, we spent about a couple hrs then we went back to the SUV in the parcking lot and we noticed a YELLO Parking Ticket on the windshield? We looked around and we noticed a money parking machine wich we overlooked when we got there in after the long drive. Well it was unexpected, who would figure that a quaint little town would have a pay meter behind the famous shop ? This is not downtown Toronto where you expect to see that. Needles to say we where very disapointed and will not be back to this overpriced shop that even has pay parking. We would go to Midland as we always do and enjoy the shops without worrying about pay parking. After that sower experience and the demanding writing on the ticket, if not payed in 7 days will go from $15 to $20 dollars. Totalling discussing, and is not the $15 dollars is insults to the visitors that bring money into the town. As far as I am concerned the So Famous Mariposa Market is off my list. By the way, Tim's is just down the street, you can park there and eat lunch or have a coffee and the parking is FREE. Shame on You Orillia.

Ann R.

Yelp
NO public washrooms eventhough the area permits open washrooms. GREEDY store - wants our $$$$$$$$ but won't give us amenities. Washrooms ARE NOT a luxury, especially if you have them, which Mariposa does. They have just CLOSED them to the public. Shame on you Mariposa. WON'T be visiting here any time soon eventhough we go several times a year and always buy a number of items. Unfortunately won't be going to Plum Loco either, since we won't travel to Orillia again, and we always buy from Plum Loco. Who also have a store in Port Perry. Went to Port Perry SEVERAL weeks ago and they had numerous washrooms throughout the various areas open. Shame Shame ShameMariposa Market.

Yelp
Love this gem in this quaint little lake town! Soooo much fresh baked goodness from cakes, cookies, breads, cupcakes, scones, muffins, to quiches, sandwiches, things smothered with cheese I don't even know what they are! This place has been around for awhile and has that rustic, but big (sells homemade jams, preserves, local honey), feel to it! Coffee is also delicious and fair trade/organic. Ah what a treat to have stopped by before leaving town!

Yelp
Bought and loved the raisin tea biscuits & multi-grain bread. Admired and will come back to get 5 of the local relishes and preserves.

Yelp
BLOT: A little on the pricey side, be wary of their jams, baked goods were tasty. Visited here while on vacation. Primarily a bakery and fudge/candy store, its like stepping back into the 1900's, until you see the prices. There is a take-out counter for sandwiches, pasties and daily fabrications (sorry folks, don't try the burrito/enchilada thing). We did grab some of their Texas Raisin muffins were very good, and kept us filled during some long drives. Our son bought a blueberry fudge block which disappeared in a couple of bites (although it was good size). Lastly I bought a jar of elderberry jam, a childhood favorite - - - and was extremely DISAPPOINTED when I cracked it open at home an slathered some on toast. The elderberries tasted like gritty pellets with a woody after-taste (long-after, that is!) The pits/grittiness just should not be in an $8 jar of jam. Sorry - EPIC FAIL! I'd send it back if I thought Customs would let it through, even if it cost me twice as much in postage. Staff is nice, and they have upstairs & street level tables for instore eating. Downstairs is a hot sauce, chocolate, cooking spice/sauce store. Next door, and adjoined through the store, they sell bricabrac and small trinkets. Parking is metered on the street.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast venue, decent price, very good customer service. M'lady and I go to this venue every once in a while for breakfast on the week-end. The prices there are quite decent, we always get friendly customer service, and the freshness and taste of their food never has anything left to be desired. I'd definitely return to this venue, and recommend it to others.

Yelp
Love Marisposa! Amazing selection of Wheat Free items! The Market is extremely popular and is generally packed. I visit quite often and I really don't understand why they have 2 retail stores on either side connecting to the central bakery. The retail stores are never busy or as busy as the bakery which is the core of their business, I really think they should close one of the retail shops and combine the inventory into one shop so that they can expand the bakery and make more room for patrons.

Stephen W.

Yelp
Our family Loves to go to Mariposa on a Saturday to buy lunch, baked goods and fresh bread. Beautiful bakery with fantastic product. Your family will love the outing as well. Enjoy.

Yelp
Our go-to bakery for lumch, treat or take home. We have been comimg here for uears and they are almoat done renovations. So far the new decor and set up looks amazing. Today i got the canadian salad and the chicken wrap. I think our server was new or something because she was slower then everyone else and brought us 1 item at a time. We got our table right away and had to look around for a high chair. It qould be beneficial if they had more available. I also grabbed chocolate blizzard and lemon laof to being home for somw special events coming up. The girls at the bakery cash up front were fast ans friendly. We always lool forward to comimg here ans I recommend it to anyone i know that is visiting up here.

Yelp
A great specialty gift store with a bakery to die for in a historic building . Enjoy a tasty lunch with the best chocolate eclairs going. Real whipped cream not that fake stuff. the cakes are fabulous and the calories just dont count here. The staff are alway attentive and friendly. oh and did i mention, LOTs of free tasty samples.

Yelp
The cafe turkey sandwich on the cheese croissant is an insane addiction. Red pepper jelly & jalapeño Havarti - yum! The baked goods are a staple on weekends & the coffee is really good. If you're not from Orillia you HAVE to visit Mariposa, it's definitely a gem in town.

Yelp
It could be that we picked the wrong day to visit, because the Orillia Jazz festival was going on. I really wanted to like this place, but the busy-ness and the chaos gave us a less than awesome experience. So, We headed in on a very cold weekend up in Orillia. This place was a nice escape from the bitter weather outdoors, but the crowds and the noise made it very difficult to navigate. I think in retrospect, this place is meant to be organized like a number of different vendors in one building, but neither of us realized this until later. There's a fudge/candy shop in the basement, which has their own listing, and we didn't really spend any time down there. So in the rest of the place, there are different counters, one of them is a decent espresso shop, and the rest sell various different types of pastries and sandwiches and other foods and drinks. The espresso was pretty decent, but had we realized there was regular coffee at the other counters, we probably would have gotten that instead, because we really just wanted drip coffee. Lee grabbed a muffin, which was really delicious, with a nice soft crumb. I got a Chelsea bun, which was good, but I think it was a little bit on the stale side. So, because of the Jazz festival and the cold outside, it was really really difficult to get a seat. A couple of places we wanted to sit got nabbed while we were ordering, and we had to spend a little bit of time cruising around for a spot. It was a little stressful for both of us, since we're introverts who don't love crowds. Once we were able to secure seats, it was a much lovelier time. Being able to listen to the Jazz being played and being able to just people watch from up on the balcony was a very nice time. I think this is a great place, just be wary of it on festival type days.

Yelp
This is a must see store reminiscent of years gone by. The presentation and"look" of the baked goods is excellent..The two stars is because of the poor quality of the backed goods. Although they look very tempting the baked goods here taste very artificial - like the pre packaged baked goods you would get from a corner store. Same with the bread.I once bought this great looking strawberry and rhubarb pie here. It was work of art. When I got it home I found the pastry hard and tastless. The filling almost all sugar. I would not eat it nor would the members of my family eat it so we threw it out!

Yelp
this place is like a slice of heaven. ever since I was a child I adored this market & heard my family talk about their love of the market as well. this market has a lower floor that brings you to their little knickknacks. they have some cool little things. most of all though, their homemade dinner rolls are TO DIE FOR! they have been a staple in my family for holiday dinners. we never have any left overs.. they're truly the best dinner rolls, they add like a sugar to it to sweeten it. but it works soooo well. truly delicious. 10/10 would recommended.
