SEAFOOD TACOS
Tacos in Mexico aren't small!
This place was my first meal in Mexico ever. I've only been to Mexico three times in my life, first time was diving in Coronados Island - never touched land. The other two were back to back random trips - on land. After motor-crossing in the Baja Mountains all day, we came here for some eats before heading back to the border. You can imagine how hungry we were! It's a locals place with the traveling word to the tourists. Portions to price, excellent!
Everyone's order "1 fish taco flour tortilla". In my mind, I assumed tacos in Mexico were all street taco size and thought to myself, we were MX'ing all day aren't people hungry? My order "1 fish taco flour tortilla, 1 shrimp taco corn tortilla". What came to me, a burrito sized fish taco and a street size and a half shrimp taco. "Jane, I forgot to tell you the flour tortillas are big." This place is a do-it-yourself add the extras. They had plastic Tupperware with fresh chopped tomatoes and onions. Tupperware of marinated purple onions. And another Tupperware of salsa. And a squirt bottle of sauce. The person who knows crap about Mexico (me) asks "why doesn't the pico de gala not have cilantro". The local laughed and said "that would be the color of our flag. No cilantro." RECOMMEND.
FISH TACO - loved the fresh flour tortilla. I'd say that was one of the best fish tacos I've had. I'm usually not a fan of fish tacos at all but this one was really good. Nice light batter, very crunch, fish fillet was flavorful, moist, and flaky. It was a lot to eat I couldn't finish it and bagged it up for the border.
SHRIMP TACO - served on the traditional corn tortilla and regular size and manageable to eat in one sitting. The corn tortilla was white I like the yellowish color we see in the US. Again, I'm usually not a fan of shrimp tacos but this shrimp taco was the best I've had. The shrimp was fresh and tasty without the strong shrimp taste and nice and crunchy. I liked this taco better than the fish taco. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Not sure how much they cost because i was treated but I'm sure it was no more than $1-$1.50 per taco. Good stuff!
