A fantastic museum with engaging displays telling stories about colonial seafaring. Sadly very little focus on indigenous maritime history despite the wealth of cultural heritage 🤨

A must-see museum with Nautical flavour As others have said you could easily overlook this Museum located where it is - but it really is one of those hidden treasures. Beautifully laid out and with translations of virtually every display from French into English. Some interactive displays for little people. An amazing story of discovery, loss, searches, mutinies, pride and hatred. It has it all!!

Small but comprehensive. The section covering the La Perouse expedition & shipwreck contains many artifacts, and it has AC.

Great little museum, English translations for most displays. Good presentation of maritime history. Very good activities for kids but I think they were mostly in French.

I really enjoyed this place especially the story of the French exploration of the Pacific. All the signs were in English as well as French so that is a plus. Overall this is an excellent museum to visit.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Noumea. The exhibition about the French boats that explored the southern continent and sank in the Solomon Islands was excellent. Plenty of English translations
