There is much to like about this place; the food is very good and looks particularly beautiful. The seasonal menu was interesting, with a fair choice. The waiting staff were friendly and knowledgable. The overall atmosphere was cozy and relaxed.
However, it was just a bit pricier than I was anticipating; a table of 4 all having three course meals with a bottle of wine seems overpriced at £200, without service too.
I find it hard not to be more critical at this price point; my artichoke veloute was just a little overflavoured with thyme, as were the pears that came with my venison. The braised red cabbage was good, but a little too hot and spicy from pepper and cinnamon. However the venison itself was cooked perfectly, the pears had a satisfyingly yielding crunch and the roast artichokes tasted like they had seen a good daubing beef dripping.
There is nowhere else quite like this in King's Lynn, however if you are willing to travel the Neptune in Hunstanton feels more special and has greater perfection for not dissimilar money. Alternatively The Bank House is just around the corner and is a bit cheaper.
I'm glad I have finally been to the Market Bistro, but don't know that I feel the need to rush back soon.
