Marketcity Tavern was my closest Tab on Melbourne Cup day. I'd never been in there before, let alone made a bet myself on Race Day or at the TAB actually. However, I assume that on a day like Melbourne cup there are tons and tons of amateur gamblers wanting to make a punt on the winning horse (which I did, mind you ;).
Unfortunately the guys at Marketcity Tavern didn't seem to know this, or expect it, which is really surprising to me. I would have thought their supervisor or manager would have told them so, if common sense didn't send them the message first. Alas, some people don't even have that. I cannot express how disgusted I was with how they treated my friend and I. Rolling their eyes, snatching the money and tickets off us, the sarcasm and their overall impatient attitude was just beyond words. I really hope that they get a talking to by their managers, unless that's how they want their business to be run and what they want their patrons (if they get any) to expect. Definitely suggest someplace else to make your bets, I know I won't be returning - and I honestly can't imagine the type of people that would be willing to put up with them either.
