The Best Hotels in Edinburgh (2025) | Condé Nast Traveler

"A new‑build Scandi‑meets‑Scottish bolthole, I arrived to a rooftop reception and champagne bar with enviable views to the Balmoral clock tower and New Town; rooms channel baronial Highland castles with wooden floors, granite walls, sliding oak shutters and mid‑mod furniture with a tartan twist, the free minibar is stocked with Scottish drinks and snacks, and staff are friendly while a hearty Scottish breakfast (including tattie scone and haggis‑and‑beef sausage) sets you up for a day in the Old Town." - Rosie Conroy

Stayed here for my daughters 21st birthday. The room was perfect, toiletries smelt lovely, Dyson hairdryer, GHD straighteners and a diffuser were great added extras. The room has a complimentary well stocked mini bar, very comfortable beds and pillows. The breakfast was extra special with a glass of fizz. The hotels location is very central and perfect for most landmarks, restaurants and the Christmas Market. All in all a perfect stay.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was incredibly comfortable and well-equipped, with everything I needed for a relaxing visit. Champagne on arrival and complementary mini bar were a nice touch. The facilities throughout the property were clean, modern, and easy to access, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The staff were warm & welcoming. Their friendly & helpful attitude really made a difference. Breakfast was another highlight—fresh, delicious, and with plenty of variety to choose from. The location was also perfect, close to key attractions, Old Town and New Town easily accesible. The airport tram was a short walk away. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Market Street Hotel and would happily return. The location is absolutely perfect – right in the heart of the Old Town, making it easy to explore Edinburgh on foot while still feeling calm and relaxing inside the hotel.||Our room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable, with high-quality finishes and thoughtful touches that were very welcome and made the stay feel special. The rooms also seemed impressively noiseproof, which meant we slept exceptionally well despite the central location. The bed was excellent and added greatly to our comfort.||The staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. The rooftop champagne bar was a real highlight, offering lovely views and a relaxed atmosphere – a perfect way to end the day. Overall, Market Street Hotel combines style, comfort, and an unbeatable location, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

I booked Nor’Loft for drinks with family following a small wedding ceremony at the city chambers. I’d been before so I knew it was a beautiful setting. The staff and service were absolutely lovely from start to finish, so welcoming, attentive and relaxed. We booked for 2 hours but they allowed us to use the table into the late afternoon. The views of the Balmoral, Waverley and the Christmas Market are gorgeous.||My husband and I booked a cosy room to stay for the evening. The most lovely surprise was that the hotel upgraded us to what I guess must have been their most beautiful and expensive suite, with a balcony overlooking Princes St. Inside our room they had left balloons and a bottle of complementary champagne. It goes without saying that the facilities were excellent. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and, again service from Davide second to none. ||I can honestly say this has been the most wonderful service I’ve ever had from a hotel, who went above and beyond when they didn’t need to. Thank you to all the service and reservations staff for making it so special. We will be back!

We spent 4 nights at the Market Street " Hotel" the week before Christmas, it was a very disappointing experience. Pro's: great location, 100 yards from Waverly Bridge, 5 mins walk from Royal Mile, 20 min walk from Stockbridge. Nice linens and bathroom amenities. Cons: Public spaces/restaurant/bar way too small for a hotel. The room was tiny, which was an unpleasant surprise as we had chosen a "Vista" room which looked like their middle sized room on the website. We couldn't even unpack our clothes as the room only had 1 drawer and a 3' hanging rail. You have to book a breakfast reservation the day before, fine for business travel but awful for vacationers who don't want to be tied to any particular wake up time. We attempted to use the bar/lounge 4 times during afternoons and/or evenings and each time were turned away by staff, saying there was no room. Whenever we pointed out that there were empty tables, we were informed they were reserved or "we're short staffed". On our 5th attempt (on our last night) we were begrudgingly given a table after practically begging, only to be told that in order to get the complimentary glass of champagne promised us, we needed to have brought a notice from the room with us, although the desk clerk did acquiesce and tell the waiter to serve us the drink. The layout of the "hotel" is floors 1-6 are rooms, level 7 is reception/bar/lounge. So basically you enter from the street into an unstaffed area, get in the lift and go to your room. It feels as though you are just renting a room and with us being denied access to the bar and lounge and not getting breakfast, it didn't feel like a hotel at all. Luckily we enjoyed breakfast at the Edinburgh Art Centre next door, at least they were happy to take care of us. NOT RECOMMENDED !!

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. Steps away from the train station and the Royal Mile. Close walk to Edinburgh Castle - tons of placing to see, shop and eat nearby. The hotel itself was nice. We stayed in a Artist Vista room. Rooms were small, but very clean and adequate. Complimentary coffee/tea set up, snacks & drink bar in rooms. The bed was great after a long travel day. The room was well insulated, we didn't hear any of the street noise outside. Bathroom offered great amenities: shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer, slippers and robes. I did not interact with the staff except for check in, but they were friendly at check in. We did not visit the attached bar or have the breakfast offered.

One of my favorite hotels I've stayed at! The room was so cozy and clean and I loved the privacy doors on the room and sliding wooden door for the window. The free mini bar was a nice touch as well as the champagne upon arrival, slippers and robes :) Only "downside" was that I wanted to stay in the room & relax instead of exploring. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even after checkout they stored our bags for the day while we were in the city. Highly recommend.
