I felt a little like Alice in Wonderland at Mark’s Place. The expansive property has at least half a dozen brightly colored bungalows, connected by stone pathways; but they are spread out and beautifully landscaped to maintain guests’ privacy.
Each “fare” is different, creatively handcrafted, with personal touches, like a bedroom wall made from wine bottles or a cabin-like cottage with convenient shelves above the bed, built-in toothbrush holders, stone showers, ladders climbing to a loft, and more.
Fares sleep from one to multiple people. Depending which cabin you choose, you may have a private open-air bath, shared bath, or private bath outdoors. Our first fare didn’t have screens, which was worrisome for us, so Mark switched us to a different one. He is genuinely interested in ensuring guests have the best possible experience.
A rural property where Mark lives onsite with his family, there are a few friendly dogs and cats (who LOVE guests) running around and even a horse. Nearby is a popular surfing spot, a couple restaurants and a grocery. But the location is pretty distant from busy areas, so a car is recommended.
Mark also rents surfboards and kayaks and provides a cart to take them to the water just down the driveway. I really enjoyed my stay and meeting Mark’s lovely family and friends at a community event being held on the property.
