The Markthal in Rotterdam is an absolute must-visit. The stunning arched building alone is worth seeing, with its colorful artwork covering the entire ceiling. Inside, you’ll find a huge variety of food stalls, restaurants, and specialty shops offering everything from local Dutch treats to international cuisine. It’s lively, full of delicious smells, and perfect for grabbing a bite or picking up unique ingredients. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality is generally very good. A great spot to experience Rotterdam’s vibrant food culture all in one place.

This was a stop on our tour. The building is cool. The roof is decorated on an amazing way. But it was packed with people. Mostly food vendors and not a lot of room to move or see anything. Cool for 10 minutes but unless you need something time to move on. Others might have a different feeling but we walked a quick loop and left.

A really interesting place to eat! The prices are decent and you can find all kinds of cuisines. I love the Greek and Korean restaurants. Unfortunately, you have to pay to use the toilet, even if you’re a customer. I believe clients should have free access to the restroom. Also, I would recommend more spots to sear

Such a good place to go for a quick meal! There are a lot of food stalls and there's even an Albert Heijn and a souvenir shop. There are food stalls with tables and chairs, but you can also just eat outside, since there are benches. The entire structure is so cool. The painted ceiling is awesome as well. Such a cool experience to go here!

Great variety of options—desserts, ramen, beer, spices, bubble tea, tofu, peanut butter and more! It was easy to walk around, and ordering didn’t take long at all. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy your food.

This place is fantastic. You would have to stay a month to try all the different cuisines from the myriad of vendors. The building itself is spectacular too. I'm pretty sure every type of food is available here, and it all looked delicious. I had some dumplings at one stall and a burger at another. Both were delicious.

Google
Amazing one stop food market for foodies like me. Variety of cuisines to choose from and mostly economical. The building itself is beautiful from inside with a high colourful ceiling and arc shaped structure from the outside.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Great spot to eat when visiting Rotterdam! There’s a nice variety of restaurants to choose from, so you’ll definitely find something that suits your taste. Prices range from €10 to €40, depending on where you go and what you order. It can get a bit crowded, especially during busy hours, but the lively vibe adds to the experience. A fun and tasty stop when you're in the city!

Yelp
De Markthal is a neat spot. It is a market and food hall. We checked it out for lunch and after walking around to see all of the diverse options we landed on 21 Pinchos. A few of the food spots have a little rooftop that you can enjoy drinks and/or food on too which was fun. It is a must visit in Rotterdam. I do want to note that the bathroom is not free to use.

Yelp
De Markthal is a really cool building and a tourist attraction in its own right, in Rotterdam, it was opened by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in 2014 and is a mix of residential and offices, the public area, as suggested by the name is a Market Hall. The Food Hall always seems to look and smell great with a great selection of foods, although limited for people like me who are sadly gluten-free. The location within the city is good, with the city's shops nearby, as well as Blaak Station and Cube House. The central glass, which can have little pictures reflected onto it, surrounded by the office buildings, seems like such a cool and futuristic concept for me, as we're moving towards a mix of residential, offices alongside places to shop and dine. Albert Heijn have a supermarket here, and TGI Fridays have a restaurant, but there are a number of smaller and independent outlets selling things from pastries and coffee, to sandwiches. It can also be a nice place just to walk through, with such an impressive building and ceiling to see, and it's a bonus there are nice places to grab some food to walk around the city with. 4*

Yelp
One of the most amazing food halls i have ever seen. Food choices from all over the world. Plenty of drink options. We had ramen (5*) and don't miss the french fry concession. The Netherlands love their french fries.

Yelp
On recommendation of staff at cruise ship terminal in Rotterdam. This was worth the 30 minute walk. Free samples everywhere. Unable to try everything. I purchased Spanish wine at a wine shop underneath, to take onboard. Limit two bottles.

Yelp
Super cool architecture. Head over for some fun eats, lots of choices. Then head out to see some cool architecture - the pencil, cube houses and old harbor/ships.

Yelp
This is for my visit back in April (yes, I'm a bit behind on my reviews). The reason why we chose to stay a few nights in Rotterdam despite the expensive ticket to and from Amsterdam is because of this market. Think of this as a huge public market, bigger than Seattle's Public Market. This place is organized with maps to guide you and the ceiling has awesome art that I couldnt' stop looking at. All foodies can revel in this place from cheese, to seafood, to meats and fresh fruit juices. The best part is, Europe doesn't allow GMOs, so you're talking fresh fresh food. We had some of the ugliest strawberries ever, but they tasted amazing. Probably the best strawberries I ever had in my life! Even the doughnuts were baked and were fluffy and not fried. We spent our morning and afternoon here snacking and having lunch here. There are sitting areas available for you to enjoy your meal. Most of the vendors are cash only, so make sure to have some euros on hand and the ATM is available for you to take money out. If you have to make one stop in Rotterdam, it's this place.

Yelp
Probably my favorite activity in Rotterdam. DON'T SKIP THIS! This is a large indoor food market. Lots of vendors and restaurants. An Asian grocery store. A standard grocery store. A liquor store. You can come here to grab a meal or a few bites from various shops or you can do your grocery shopping. While many vendors sold prepared foods, others sold meats, cheeses, pastries, and so forth. By the way, you can get a meal/snack for reasonably cheap. Herring was 2.50 and it was delicious. Oh and the architecture is awesome. The walls are actually apartments! How cool. The only downside? Paid restrooms. Yuck.

Yelp
We stopped inside the beautiful Rotterdam's Markthal and had lunch at Arjaa's Italian rooftop cage. The owner made suggestions for lunch (pesto sauce over strazzapreti) which is always a good decision to follow an expert's advice. As we did some people watching, we enjoyed a nice pinot grigio with bread and oil. This was a lovely addition to our Amsterdam trip.

Yelp
W-O-W! This is by far the best food hall that I've ever been to...in my life! Markthal is a gem hidden in the very (surprisingly) hipster city of Rotterdam and those who are looking for a cheap yet delicious bite to eat must visit! The food hall is a cultural melting pot serving food from all parts of the world, including its own way national cuisine. There are sit down places but I prefer snacking to try everything that the hall had to offer because there is A LOT including stalls selling produce, candy, and other food gift items. Easily over 40 stalls - so make sure make at least one walk around before digging in - and many of them give free samples and if not, just looking at them is tempting enough. During my visit, I had: 1) Portuguese Egg Tart from Natamania - O man it was flaky hot and loved the custard (1.5EU) 2) Matcha Latte from Infinitea - it came out less sweet and the matcha flavor one point! (3.5-4EU each) 3) Jamon mini baguette from Ibericus - X2 because 1 wasn't enough! Probably the simplest yesterday best thing I ate that day (4EU each) 4) Croquettes from Het Kroket Loket - got the 6 small smaller with Peking duck, paella, and curry and all were amazing! (6ishEU) 5) Macaroons from Madame Coco's- tried the plain and red velvet one which took the cake ;) (1.5EU per piece) 6) Fresh Stroopwaffles from Groudstrop - they make them fresh which is why buying a bag was a risky move.. I could eat them all! (3.25EU/bag) 7) Baklava - forgot which stall (somewhere in the middle) (4 pieces for 2EU) If I had a bigger belly, I would've gotten much more as I was itching to try out the 21 tapas bar because I heard that's quite popular and even some of the froyo a few stalls offered. I loved the lively vibes here and it was great to see and hear that both tourists and locals adore this place! I certainly can attest to its awesomeness! Markthal has all the types of food you could ever imagine and not only are the dishes quality, affordable, and great for sharing, they're hipster too! Don't forget to get your phones out because you'll find yourself snapping a few photos to commemorate the day you discovered Markthal Note: a plus is that it's right next to the Cube Houses which is a nice photo spot!

Yelp
This was the most impressive food hall I've ever been to, and I'd like to think I've been to many (in NYC, LA, across the states, others in Europe). What really set this one apart was the diversity and quality of food available. I had some fantastic Mediterranean food while my friends went to a Spanish stall and got their fill of jamón ibérico. While I ventured to the coveted pasteis de nata vendor, my nose was bombarded by the wonderful smells of the Moroccan spice shop, as well as the Chinese market across the stall. If I had more time in Rotterdam I would have definitely come back for seconds and most likely thirds. This is a must-see!

Yelp
One word: stunning. A world class food court of distinction on steroids. Everything imaginable to delight the food nerd in you. By example, you say? Well, the Iberico ham stall where you can get your meat to go in a paper cone was a total hoot. And, for someone still fighting jet lag, the protein blast was a most welcome wake-up! Cupcakes stalls, French food, spices, breads, meats, alcohol stands--lots of them, fabulous coffee, sushi... I'll just stop because there's no way I could possibly name 1/10th of what's here. And yet, in an hour or so you can get a pretty good feel for what's available. What a terrific space, an even better idea and lots of small portions to buy and walk around with while you're scoping out your next tastes. Easily one of my most enjoyable food experiences of 2018 and for a guy on the hunt for something interesting every day, that's saying something. Get here any way you can. Easily accessed, less than a mile from the Centraal Station in Rotterdam.

Yelp
Great market!!! Reminded me of Blake Avenue market when I was a little girl in Brooklyn. You can buy nuts, meat, cheese, shoes, cloth, jewelry... etc etc etc. Meander up one side of the market and down the other. Worth the trip

Yelp
Such an amazing market! Usually markets are crowded and it's hard to move around, but De Markthal has plenty of room The vendors are all so friendly and unique. Plus there are TONS of samples. You could make a meal just from free samples. Don't forget to look up! Only downside is there is not a free restroom. You must pay.

Yelp
If you only go to one place in Rotterdam, it would probably have to be De Markthal. It's a gigantic food hall with the largest continuous artwork in the world lining the ceiling (mostly just cartoon produce). You can get just about anything you could dream of here - if you're grocery shopping, they have cured meats, cheeses, fish and oysters, and a spice shop. If you want a snack, they have all sorts of prepared foods as well, and TONS of desserts. There was even a shop dedicated to selling different types of peanut butter; I had no idea the possibilities! Set aside an hour or two of your day and just walk around, take some photos, and sit down for a proper meal.
google avatar

Yelp
This food hall is so impressive. I mean they have everything. The shape of the hall and the painting on the ceiling gives it so much character. There is so much food you dont know where to start! The vendors inside were so nice, you could almost walk around and get full on samples. I finally got dinner from the Italian restaurant inside and it was delicious. If you are out in Amsterdam you have to go down to Rotterdam to visit the Markthal.

Yelp
Chaotic... Interesting architecture and some of the food we had was decent. But it's smells "oily" in there. We checked it off our list and kept it movin'...

Yelp
Martkhal was the highlight of my trip to Rotterdam! It fit so well with all the modern architecture in the city and yet, it also stood out with its unique design. From outside, you see a horseshoe shaped indoor market place covered with glasses all around. Apartments and shops can be seen at the horseshoe part of the building. Walking in, I felt like a kid in a giant glass bowl. The inside of the horseshoe was covered in murals of flowers, animals, etc. No picture can do justice to the experience of being in there. Once my eyes stopped wandering upwards, I was able to see all the food stalls waiting to be visited! So many choices for food, we ended up doing a full lap around the place to figure out what our options were. There are lots of places that sell cured meat, cheeses, pastries, kebab places, breads, fried seafood, wine bar, etc.. I ended up grabbing a Dutch herring sandwich with onions on it and then joined my friend at the Spanish tapas place for more food! No regrets at this point! After that I found a place selling various tea options, including herbal infusions. So we washed off our meals with a cup of tea and moved on to our next Rotterdam adventure. For your eyes and your tastebuds, Markthal might be the best thing you can do in Rotterdam!

Yelp
Beautiful market in Rotterdam. Absolutely a represented place should be visited and have some food. Food is cheap, especially seafood, but it was waiting to long for serving food. And AH supermarket is located inside.

Yelp
Large markethall with numerous prepared food stands, a cookware store, small Asian grocery, an Albert Heijn, a wine store, and a few restaurants. The food offerings range from cheeses, fish and chips, hot dogs, Mediterranean food, donuts, cupcakes, salads, juices, and stroopwafels. A great variety to see and choose from.

Yelp
Having friends living in Rotterdam, we stopped here with them in order to get a flavour of this fantastic covered market. It's a paradise for foodies and more... We bought some really nice cheeses among which one with truffel! You can also find lovely waffles (round and thin dutch waffles) that we enjoyed at home with a cup of tea. There are also restaurants and a supermarket. The place is huge and the design is fun! Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
First of all, Markthal is very easy to find as it's right across from station Rotterdam Blaak. I was here last week both in the afternoon and in the evening. The building is a bit grey from the outside, but as soon as you step in between those revolving doors, you are greeted by an explosion of color. Not only from the mural on the ceiling (which is especially beautiful in the evening), but also from all the products and produce in the various stalls. Walking by all the beautiful produce made me regret not being able to do my groceries there! Stalls are numbered and there are electronic maps near the entries. It was busy in the afternoon, in the evening not that much which surprised us for a Friday evening. But maybe we arrived and left right on time before the big crowds poured in. We had some phö for lunch. It was good phö, but the portion was small for that price. I think €12,50 but I'm not sure. We had some poffertjes to finish off (10 for €2,50) and browsed some stalls. The kitchenware store was where we splurged since we weren't able to bring any fresh produce back. The Asian supermarket Wah Nam Hong near the kitchenware store also sold some nice stuff. In the evening we met up with a friend and had dinner at Firma Pickles. A group of people just left so we were seated at a table, but due to large crowds you might end up sitting at a bar or high table, and possibly queuing for a long time. The burgers were good. Staff mixed up our orders within our group and we didn't notice until we shared a piece that we were eating the other's burger! Even though it didn't look like a big portion, we were unable to finish everything. Prices were reasonable. Note that you can't pay with credit card here yet! All in all, Markthal is a fun experience. For tourists and fellow countrymen not from Rotterdam, it's fine as a one-time thing because after all, it is a market to buy your groceries at. For locals, I can imagine it's pretty sweet to have this near. There are still restaurants moving in, so I'll be sure to check Markthal out again in the near future.

Yelp
Great selection from food to drinks and dessert! The beer was amazing, I also tried Turkish dessert and was not a fan. However, I would recommend trying as many things as you can get your hands on, it's a great experience! Bring cash since a lot of places only accept cash. If you arrive from the train station it is about a 15 minute walk, we used maps it was really easy to find. It's beautiful inside and there's apartments overlooking the inside!

Yelp
Way cool place to check out if you ever visit south Netherlands! So much variety! Price are very reasonable!

Yelp
The Markthal has become a must visit for any trip to Rotterdam, and is contributing to what I like to call the Rotterdam Renaissance. Located on the same square as several architecturally interesting buildings, the Markthal is a great new modern addition. Inside you'll find several rows of food stalls that sell both pre-made food you can take home and eat as well as fresh ingredients to take home and cook with. There's also two supermarkets - one normal old Albert Heijn located one level below street level, but also a very well stocked Chinese supermarket on the south side of the building. There are few places to sit on the floor of the Markthal itself, but around the outside there are several cafes and restaurants where you can sit down and grab a drink or a bite to eat.
google avatar

Kelsey V.

Yelp
This is a better executed version of De Food Hallen in Amsterdam if only because there is FAR more space. The architecturally stunning venue with high ceilings is impressive. Food-wise there's lots to choose from, although as others have noted unless you visit some of the vendors' own spaces (often upstairs, or around the edges), there is no seating. We bought a Lebanese wrap and then had to eat standing up. Boo Markthal. Shopping-wise there is an Asian supermarket, a kitchen store, an Albert Heijn and some more shops downstairs. A good indoor space but Utrecht or The Hague needs to attempt their own version as third time is the charm!
google avatar

Nick F.

Yelp
Great! There are so many good places to go and eat, drink, and sample. On my first visit here I ate both lunch and dinner in the Markthal. They have food that you can buy to bring home and cook, snacks to eat here, freshly prepared international foods as well as restaurants and even grocery stores all in one place. The quality of the food in the Markthal is much better than you would normally find in the Netherlands. This is easily the best market hall in the Netherlands. The prices are not super cheap like other European market halls but they are certainly cheaper than the one in Amsterdam and is pretty affordable to go around trying things that you think look tasty.
google avatar

Brendan S.

Yelp
Indeed a must visit for Rotterdam as others have said. I ate two meals here. First visit we had fresh stroopwafel and some snacks. The next day we had Sushi and a sharwarma wrap. Every.Single.Place. in here is fantastic. It's like they weeded out the poorly performing or the untasty and collected the best places they could find. All indoors so weather isn't a factor, yet it feels like an open air market. Truly amazing what they've accomplished here. We will be back!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
The architecture of the building itself looks amazing. I loved the open market inside and the variety of food was so overwhelming. All together this was a great experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Must stop destination in Rotterdam. Allow yourself plenty of time to spend here. Perfect place during the winter BC the market is indoor and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. I was ready to mark Netherlands as a place of bad food until I came here. We ate dinner at Royal fish I believe. We ordered the mussels, fish and chips, and fried fish. Simple but well made. Friendly people in this market. And of course, the art on the ceiling is the most fascinating of its all. This market is also 3 mins away from the cube house. So naturally, we spent the whole day here.

Yelp
A popular new landmark in the center of Rotterdam. The Markthal contains a nice collection of different shops provide lovely fresh meat, seafood, fruit, vegetables, cakes, cheese, sausages, lovely turkish bread, wines and more. There are some very nice restaurants there as well. Plenty of underground parking spaces though a bit pricey. Especially in the weekend there are lots of tourists with cameras taking pictures of the lovely products and the decorated ceiling, so it's better to go here on a weekday. Dogs allowed :)

Sam S.

Yelp
Really nice huge market with fresh produce and food to eat. A huge amount of selection to choose from. Only negative was the lack of seating, seemed like some cafes had their own seating but not a general area for anyone.
google avatar

Yelp
A must-see if you're visiting Rotterdam, a huge convenience if you're catching a train, and a great alternative for local shoppers. The architecture is unique: a fun, colorful, landmark just a minute away from the Rotterdam Blaak station. It's instantly recognizable in the daytime and an extravagant pop of color at night. The inside is just as dazzling, with produce, nuts, spices, flowers, meat, fish, cheese, coffee, bread, baked goods, candy, and much more on the main floor. If you head downstairs, you'll find an Albert Heijn and more prosaic offerings, like ATMs and bathrooms. Upstairs on a mezzanine level are restaurants and cafes, although there are some on the main floor as well. It was bustling both times we were there, once during the day and once at night, although a lot of people seemed to be tourists (which might mean prices are not competitive with existing shops). But it's certainly convenient. Some of the stalls have a few stools, but otherwise there's no seating for shoppers who get tired or just want to relax with a cup of coffee. The tables outside the mezzanine cafes belong to those cafes, which is a shame, as they would provide a nice perch to watch the passing scene. I think this could be a much more welcoming environment with this minor improvement. Apart from that minor criticism, this is a wonderful new addition to the Rotterdam shopping scene.

Yelp
One does not simply visit the Markthal. Going Markthal is an experience. Entering the hal feels as if you just entered the 21st century equivalent of the Sistene Chapel. Only with food. Lot's of it. Everywhere you look. In the hall you will find interesting restaurants, bars, and take-away opportunities. From genuine Eastern spices, special cheeses, wines, and steaks to macaron speciality shops - it's all there. It's always busy and the fact that there are countless opportunities to casually sit at a bar and have some asian food or enjoy a drink makes it even more amazing. In the evening the ceiling of the Markthal is perhaps even more beautiful and it makes for quite a view for all to enjoy while dining in one of the many fine restaurants. I also highly recommend going for a drink on one of the terraces and simply enjoy the view. If you happen to stop by at Rotterdam, definitely go see the Markethal. The architecture put the city on the worldmap for good and it's right NEXT to the Blaak trainstation. Make sure you visit on an empty stomach and thank me later.

Yelp
This is a wonder of civilization. The Tuesday market has been here for an eternity, and it deserves its own place in the pantheon of gluttony, but the new indoor market is something else. There are floors of tiny stores specializing in everything edible. When I asked for a pigs foot necessary for a soup, the butcher almost had a heart attack explaining that she did not get her pig foot delivery today, but she will hold one for me next morning. The variety of items everywhere was unbelievable. Unlimited amount of little counter restaurants with high quality food. Giant Albert Heijn in the basement. And as usual, everyone speaks perfect English, making this market perfect for a tourist. If I lived in Rotterdam, I would be here for lunch every day. PS: the building itself is a must-see for an architect, or anyone interested in how the Dutch manage to do everything better. Overall: do not miss!

Yelp
I can't recall exactly everywhere I ate in here...but it was at lots of places. Everything was delicious. It is a very nice space with a lot of variety. I'd highly recommend anyone to visit. If not for the food, just for the experience.

Yelp
My friend read about the Markthal that opened in November 2014 in an architectural magazine and since we were in the Netherlands over the Holidays, we decided to take a day trip to this lovely food hall. I have been to other food halls in cities like Philadelphia and Stuttgart and the concept is the same with all kinds of fresh and international foods on display under one roof. What makes Rotterdam so interesting is that this roof is decorated with a cornucopia of food and flowers. I read somewhere that it was like the "Sistine Chapel" of Rotterdam and it was quite amazing. The neat part is that there are actually about 200 apartments hiding behind the huge grapes on the ceiling and the apartment windows look into the Markthal. The dimensions of this hall are just gigantic and I had a hard time capturing a photo of my mom and my best friend outside because it is such a large structure. The food stands and restaurants range from Vietnamese, to Belgian chocolates, to Stroopfwafel stands, to Turkish to Chinese. You can find it all here under one roof and the hardest part will be picking what and where to eat. We drove into Rotterdam and there was ample parking on the many levels below in the garage. The Markhthal is also on Travel and Leisure's list of places to visit in 2015 so you might as well check it out!

Yelp
The Markthal is an indoor market that is supposed to rival those famous markets in Barcelona, London... BUT it fell short of my expectations. In the end I gave it a 4-star because the architecture is really amazing and I think it is worth at least 1 visit. TL;DR - great place for tourists (especially in the winter), but too expensive for locals. Food: 3/5 There is a large assortment of butchers, cheese farmers, nut stores and other great places to buy groceries. However, I found everything just a bit expensive. These are all the same types of stalls you would see at a local market but at 1.5x the price. Something that really bothered me was that a lot of the food at the stalls was not served fresh. At both the poffertjes and siroopwafel stand, they were being pre-made and then kept warm. That really defeats the whole point of buying food from the market. Also the IJSSalon only takes PIN - how are tourists supposed to pay for the best ice cream in town?? Ambiance: 5/5 In terms of appearance, this is the nicest indoor market I have seen. The building is shaped like a U and surrounded by glass. Once you are indoors, you are greeted with a bright colorful spring mural that makes you forget how cold and windy it is outside (though with all this glass, it isn't exactly warm in here either...) One of the highlights of this sort of market is that you can eat super fresh food. However, there were only a handful of restaurants and they were all packed; perhaps it will offer more options in the future. I think it is a great place for tourists but it still has some room to grow before it can hold its own weight against places like La Boqueria and Borough Hall.

Yelp
De Markthal is an overgrown food mall. Its like a modern, indoor Albert Cuypmarket. They have cafes, restaurants, and raw food shops. The vendors are very specific, there's one that only carries different flavors of peanut butter. In other words, there's something for everyone. De Markthal is definitely worth a visit.
google avatar

David I.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to visit on a cold n rainy day, they have plenty of amazing stores and several that are happy to offer you free samples to tempt you. If you are looking for a cash point or ATM it's downstairs near the Albert Heijn. Most of the market stalls do take PIN but it's faster and easier often to pay with cash if you are buying lots of small items. The restaurants can get super busy so I suggest you grab some items from the market stalls as you walk around.

Yelp
A truly 'must visit' for every foodie. You can find all sort of foods here, fresh fish, herbs&spiced, some excellent butchers, local grown vegetables and many more. The atmosphere is great and quite a few entrepreneurs will let you have a taste from their goods. There are however also a few downsides: the little terraces on top of the stores are not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair, and in the weekends it's too crowded for a pleasant day of shopping. Given the fact that there are still some store slots vacant I'm curious on how the Markthal will develop, since it has only opened month and a half ago.

Yelp
The Markthal. A novel concept in the Netherlands marketed on the innate desire to shop and immediately indulge in your spoils. It offers a multitude of relaxed eateries from different parts of the globe. And gives your the opportunity to do your groceries. Added feature the architecture especially designed to house this complex in a wind and rain proof environment and be housing for the roof part as well. One day is to short, for all the experiences.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and activity. We went to Trattoria Pastabar Sicily - authentic staff, food, and wine. Great prices too. Ask about their wines, and the owner may bring over another glass for you to try just because he loves to share. ;)

Yelp
The Markthal is a nice concept and there is something to eat and drink for everybody. The building itself is one of a kind and a must visit in Rotterdam.

Yelp
Markthal is a must-see if you are in Rotterdam on the basis that it is super unique and there really isn't anything else like it anywhere. That said, I was disappointed in general with the vendors in Markthal. While there are definitely some unique and independent vendors present, I think that Cheese & More, Delifrance, etc. should have been left out. Those vendors in particular make Markthal have too much of a cookie cutter commercial feel as opposed to feeling like a real marketplace. Wandering around Markthal, it seemed more like a mall food court than a real marketplace to me. All that said, we did enjoy eating in one of the elevated seating areas above the vendors' stalls, as it was a great place to take in the Markthal and all of the hustle and bustle taking place on the ground floor. We'll return, but most likely only for a coffee or drink and not for a meal.

Yelp
It is an okay place to see. It is a little expensive sometimes but they have really nice stuff to eat and you should just check it out sometimes when you are nearby
