We drove 40 minutes to come to this location, this was the first time and last time I NEVER BEEN here was dying to go and idk why the experience was extremely disappointing. The woman at the door was very rude, unprofessional, and not considerate at all. Her appearance and attitude were not welcoming, and she showed no level of customer service. I had lost my wallet, but I had a physical photo of my ID and simply wanted to come in, sit down, and have food. Instead of any understanding or courtesy, I was refused entry with no empathy or effort to help the situation. I was already very hungry and stressed, and the way this was handled made everything worse. This was not right at all, especially after traveling such a long distance. I will be calling to speak with someone higher up, because this experience was unacceptable and should not happen to customers.

This place is so unprofessional.. they have nowhere on the website or anything where it says you have to be 25 to enter.. they just have a stupid sign once you walk all the way into security. This is horrible because they don’t know how far people travel just to waist time finding out once you get there that you cannot enter ! And the security is so unprofessional especially that manly woman!

Every 1st Sunday of the month is comedy night. I had fun hanging out with my friends. The food and drinks are good. Try the catfish nuggets. Delicious!😋

Very chill environment. Nestled in Irvington, this historical lounge has been a part of the cities nightlife for years. The people are very welcoming, the food was good... the mac and cheese tastes the way cardboard looks lol but the vibe is cool. The drinks... man, they do not believe in chasers here. Priced very well for the 2.5 oz pours they give in each drink, lol. The bartenders are friendly and make sure you're taken care of. Parking seems like a struggle if you go late. But when this place is packed, I understand why they call it a ZOO LOL respectful. Bathrooms are small but clean, the outside patio is really chill. The music is always on point but most of all a safe environment.

Love the music, the food, and the drinks! I have been there every Tuesday for the $2 and $4 happy hour since my co-worker first invited me! I enjoy the hookah too. Its a very cool over 30 crowd and every one is so friendly...its feel like community in there. Love it!

I went to Marlo’s on Halloween to celebrate a friend’s birthday it just so happened to be $2 Tuesday so selected drinks were $2 and $4 which I was pleasantly surprised by. The bartender who name I didn’t get was the best, the drinks were very good. I was expecting something kind of watered down because of the price but that was far from the case. As far as the food I only had an order of catfish nuggets and fries but both were good especially the catfish it was seasoned to perfection lol. Overall I had a great time, I will definitely be returning!

Drinks are always strong, food is always good. The DJ is always rocking good songs, including jersey club. Nice community feel.

I had a time here ! Service was amazing. Both bars were crazy busy . However they managed very well . Bartender even asked me my preference of liquor when serving my drink. I appreciated the quality of service. One thing that was an issue was the women's bathroom. If the toilet seat is not present kindly place the stall out of order. And if you are going to deny women from using the back bathroom kindly make sure the other bathroom is properly kept . It was a mess.

Food is decent, local hood spot, service sucks around the board from security cops, to kitchen, to phone service. Bartenders the only ones that get a pass when it's busy. The hookah be cool when they don't forget your order. Make sure you have an ID to simply pick up food.

I just went there last night: this is a neighborhood spot. Don't expect to get your drinks on time. When it's busy you will have to wait. Check to see the cost to get in. I arrived about midnight last night and wasn't charged to get in, but Fridays there is a charge I believe. The food is good, but they are slow to get your order and get the food to you if you are hungry. Marlos gets 4 stars from me because of the DJ, the dancing and the atmosphere. This is an Essex County experience. Don't come expecting a night of hip hop or you will be disappointed. They do play hip hop but mostly club. This place people come to have a good time and dance. Yes the place is out dated and you have to wait, but when you go to Marlos there is always an experience.

A hole in the wall bar in Irvington. I went for $2 Tuesdays. Im still wondering what is $2. We came in and sat at a high table for 15 minutes, and no service. So we go to the bar ourselves. I get a beer for $5. So if beer is $5, what is $2? We have to go to another dining room to find the waitress and place our order. The fried fish and fries were mediocre. The mac and cheese was good. The music was NJ house. It was decent. It starts getting crowded around 6. Local crowd for sure. No big deal but atleast the bouncer was friendly and funny.

My friends & I went to celebrate a birthday & we enjoyed ourselves. The music was on point , good Hookuh, the food was delicious & our hostess/bartender Trizzy was very accommodating. All of the staff was very sweet. I've read the reviews & to be honest there are creepy old men everywhere you go . Just say no thank you & pay them no mind . Don't let them ruin your experience.

Yesterday 2/28/23 $2 tues the waitress was high talking on the phone and smoking hookah at the door with Security. She forgot to put my food in. This is 5:30pm no one is there. I'm telling the manager like yo she high. I guess they didn't like me being vocal. I had paid my drink bill and I was leaving anyways. they had security to ask me to leave LOL. I come there all the time and that waitress with the Baby dreads never saw her in life.. I WILL NOT BE BACK because the manager the light skin girl with the Beanie had nothing to say but she put my food in now after almost 2 hours.. Didn't say sorry or nothing. I def was not paying for that food after that I was leaving.. it's a shame that them new ppl are like that. Going have a lot of ppl complaining Watch

I was in love with this place over the summer. I dont know what happened within the last month. Maybe new security or management but the food changed. The crowd changed to younger people. An my wallet got stolen, along with a few other people belongings. I had to call back three times just to check and see if they ever found out anything about the thief. Anyway i will not be going back.

Marlos needs to seriously be bulldozed. 30 to get in !? Yeah right .. idk why these folks tryna make a come up on people. Spot is wake anyway and hella outdated. The drinks arent even good and gave me a damn migraine. Fake ass liquor bottom shelf type shit. There are waaaaay too mamy better places to go lol fuck this place yall. I'd sign a petition in a heart beat to close this shit shack lol wheres the damn pennnn

This was a very fun place to go out for a chill night out with good music and good food.

Rude and nasty staff. They claim you have to be 30 in order to get in however, the lady was pocketing money and allowing people in who aren't 30. But she claims if you aren't 30 she cant let you in because she can get in trouble. She just didn't want to let me in because I'm only 24 and she felt I was too young. Marlos need to do a better job and hiring people and set better rules. I cant get in because im 30 but I gotta pay the lady at the door $20 yeah ok.

My favorite spot. Friday night happy hour $12 Open bar with a full spread buffet you can't beat that! Two dollar Tuesday's are on an poppin as well. The only complaint I have is the same I have with all hood busniesses. DECOR DECOR DECOR!! Your place should not look like it did 10 years ago. Change it up every 5 years. Calling Bar Rescue now.

Let me start off by saying..I dont write reviews or tweet etc..but i had to express myself on this. I dont even know where to begin but I'll try not to write too much Ok... When my wife and i got there..the vibe was cool(this is our 1st time going there..and now its our last) Some guy greeted us at our table(seemed nice at 1st) he was very helpful.. he helped with getting the attention of the waitress.. The food is good..we ordered the crab legs..shrimp...with mac n cheese..greens.. and string beans..(its on point)...to be honest..that was the best part..but then the guy who was so helpful in the beginning(i thought he worked there) leans over to me and says If i wanted a 4ever pass..i replied excuse me He said anytime i wanted to come by just mention his name.. and we'll get in free (now mind u..we didnt hv to pay when we got there) But he said there was a 15$ fee for this service..i just brushed him off and tried to enjoy my night with my wife.. As i made my way towards the bar..he tapped me on my shoulder and said he ordered his crab legs and hes a hustler..and that he was waiting for the 15 dollars...now im still waiting for my drinks..when he comes by again..now hes upset because he wanted the money..now i finally got upset and told him to F off..(he was trying to extort me)..lol.. Now by this time 2 hrs has passed..now people know im with my wife..as soon as leave to go the bathroom.. (from what my wife tells me)guys kept passing our table and touching her on her shoulder(multiple times) Then when i get back to our table sum dude was siting in my seat..and he didnt want to get up..now after 2 min stare down..and a few choice of words..he finally felt like getting up So we left shortly after that. NEVER AGAIN!!!..So hopefully ur experience is better than mine..but dont bring a date..wife..girlfriend there..the guys are disrespectful(too touchy feely)..and u might get extorted for money..smh..just bring ur male friends i guess...or go get the food but leave as soon as u get it..

Went for $2 Tuesday , great music, good drinks , Didn't eat but I hear food is good, crowd wS my age mixed w some older folks..... My friend requested a song and the dj told the owner who then asked us to leave ! Other than that it was a good night lol

This past weekend was only my second time there but I definitely don't want to go back. We arrived at the place early because we know seats get taken fast by the regulars. We got there before the doors even opened that's how early we got there to get seats for our group. But then some woman came in and insisted how we couldn't sit in her seat that she's been sitting in every Friday for the past such and such years. There were a lot of rude people, the drinks sucked that weren't something they were used to making and the food wasn't that great either.

I gave 3 start due to covid. But if you plan to come where you will order your foods and eat 2 hours after. You are welcome.

Marlos is a staple in the Area for the Mostly 30+ crowd . I have been here about a handful of times in the past 5 years and it seems pretty consistent. You get a nice STIFF drink ! The Bartenders at first may not come off as friendly but they are good for the most part. If you want to hear some Ole school club music up to the New hip hop and R&B it's a good spot to go . They may charge covers on certain days ( I'm not a fan of cover charges so I've hardly been when they have one ) Parking is a little tough because they don't have a lot. I have not had the food from the back kitchen but I will try next time. They have a lot of special events where they feature outside chefs ( Sat Brunch specifically) The Security guard that was there the last time was SUPER friendly and helpful. It's definitely an Urban crowd without all the Rah Rah, In my experience the majority of patrons are Working folks who want a darn good drink. I don't live in the area but will pop in when invited again.

The drinks are great the food is good and I love the bar tenders.... Never had a problem here knock on wood... Its a good time with grown people Jodi is my favorite bartender very sweet!!!

An institution that is anything but institutional. I'm sitting there and my cousin is explaining to me all the generations that have frequented Marlos in the past. Funny. I left the area back in 1990, and haven't really returned for any length of time sense. So the prodigal son returns to find that things are much better at home. And places like this are the reason. Community doesn't really happen in New York. People in NYC may convene, but gatherings in the Big Apple feel synthetic. It felt organic here. Not that people sat singing kumbaya. It was more about having fun, and let's face it: hooking up, than it was about strictly being seen.

Great Music, Great Drinks, Great Buffet, Great Events, and most of all the staff is very professional. This is a older professional crowd and club music and house music is excellent. The best place for parties.

Marlos is nice! You get what you pay for. The DJ with that House is on point. Love the house music vibe there. Bartenders should be the best they can get and be consistent and if they sustain dress code it's alright there...
