"Biking to Maroon Bells Aspen is a playground for the active traveler. No matter how many times I visit, I always set aside time to bike to Maroon Bells. Rent a bike from the Hub, a cycling store in town, and be sure to bring a water bottle and even some snacks for energy. The 11-mile ride from downtown will have your quads (and lungs) burning as you slowly make your way uphill. The steady climb makes about a 1,630-foot elevation gain. The views at the top are worth your efforts. The Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake are one of the most photographed areas in North America. On a sunny day the lake takes on magical turquoise and green hues. Relief comes on the ride back to town, which is all an easy coast downhill. Couch potatoes can opt to take a bus to the top."
Maroon Bells Scenic Area is absolutely stunning — the reflection of the peaks on Maroon Lake is picture-perfect. Easy access with a shuttle, and great for all ages. Whether you're hiking or just taking in the views, this spot is unforgettable. Don’t miss it if you're near Aspen!

Maroon Bells is an absolutely breathtaking destination that photos simply can’t do justice. The pure natural beauty of this place is beyond words—towering peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and vibrant landscapes that change with the seasons. Every view feels like a postcard, yet the reality is even more stunning.

Came here in April during winter. The roads were all closed and we had to trek 10km in from where the roads were closed. Very quiet afternoon, just a couple folks on the road. Exhausted by the time we reached the lake, but the views were great. Downhill was easier, another 10km but do note of icy paths.

This was just one of the most incredible places I've ever seen. Everywhere you look has the most amazing views, and the clearest water I've ever seen.
There's so much moisture and so much vegetation, walking up the trail felt like walking into a beautiful rainforest in the mountains.
Also there's a lot of wildlife to watch out for.
We got hit afternoon rainstorms (based on how green it is, there must be rainstorms very often) so be prepared if you're going to hike up the trail at all.
The trail around the lake is very flat and easy to walk so I'd say it's pretty wheelchair accessible.
It's understandably very popular so getting reservations is difficult. Parking is only before 8am and after 5pm and by reservation only. There is a shuttle from aspen that runs throughout the day for like 20$ per person.
