Marpole Oakridge Community Centre

A great community hub with plenty of activities for all ages. The gym and sports facilities are well-maintained, and the staff is always welcoming. Vapester Smoke Shop is conveniently located nearby, and our employees often visit during their break to stay active and refreshed

Our daughter, her sister and husband held a baby shower in a spacious room at the Marpole Oakridge Community Centre. It was the perfect venue. Everyone had a great time!

Last week, when the garbage truck came to collect the trash, for some unknown reason, it also took away our yellow paper recycling bag. I checked with ChatGPT and found out that I could get a new yellow recycling bag for free at the Community Centre, so I came here. Since my English is not very good, I used a translation app to explain the situation to the front desk staff and to express that I wanted to get a yellow recycling bag. Apparently, I couldn’t get the yellow recycling bag directly here, but the front desk staff was very warm and attentive, and they kindly helped me by providing contact information such as a phone number and email. Thank you very much for your help!

The replacement building is just across the park and will be open sometime in 2027. The only reason this venerable building loses one star is because I could not locate an elevator to get down to the weight room. Congratulations to the construction team by the way. I have never seen such rapid construction for the city of Vancouver ever before.

You can find everything would would expect in a community centre. There are lots of programs for children, as well as adults. Outside, there is a children's playground, hockey court, basketball court, baseball diamond, and tennis courts, as well as plenty of green space for romping around. As of July 22, 2020, it is closed due to COVID-19.

I study Iaido with Inoue Sensei at this community centre. The facility itself is a bit older, but the class content is excellent, the instructor has vast knowledge and a lifetime of experience. Would strongly recommend iaido for anyone who has ever wanted to learn Japanese sword arts.

pretty good place only thing is there washroom down stair is not very good it looks like nobody ever cleans it. it smells every time you go in there. it's every day.

One of the worst childhood experiences and memories are of this community center where I went to summer day camp. Camp leaders were verbally abusive and disrespectful of select children there that they couldn’t control (it’s not that kid’s fault he simply had a disability) and not only did it set a bad example for the rest of us but it also affected our enjoyment of our day camp trips. There should be a mandatory requirement that they have finished at least ECE or it’s equivalent before being allowed to be hired to host day camps. The staff were simply “legal adults” and nothing else. Immature themselves still and if I can recall this 25+ years later… it’s really sad that every summer parents send their kids off to complete strangers for care so they can work.

Really old and it is like a dungeon. City needs to invest in this CC and put some racquetball and squash courts back into the city.

The equipment is old last time I was there and the location isn't convenient for majority of residents of south Marpole, where the majority of Marpole residents live. Vancouver Park board, build another community center in south Marpole please, we are dying here.

This is my local community centre but it's the gym I use the most. There's a beautiful park that is used for baseball, soccer games and there's tennis courts, too. The children's playground and water park is always busy. When there's no sports on the field, the park is great for sprawling out and getting a nice tan; nice hidden gem imo. I haven't used the courts inside the centre but it always seems busy for various excercise classes, dance lessons, basketball, hockey, badminton etc. The gym itself is ok. There's a decent amount of cardio machines in a separate room but ventilation can be an issue. Kudos for using the clipboard system for signing up!!! The weights area is ok and on the smallish side but it does the job. This community centre needs to be renovated due to it's age and physical condition.
