Marquee Medellin (Medellín, Colombia) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Right in the heart of Medellín, in the exceedingly vibrant neighborhood of El Poblado, is a lavish fantasy of a boutique hotel, a riotous marriage of clean-lined modernism, Art Deco splendor, and everything in between. Marquee Medellín’s 42 rooms are impressive enough, with their floor-to-ceiling windows and wood paneling and their gold trim; some suites add jacuzzis, and the two penthouse suites are as extravagant as anything in town, and perhaps in all of Colombia. The restaurant, Abbiocco, interprets Italian cuisine through a local lens, and the hotel’s crown jewel is its open-air rooftop bar. Be prepared: this is an all-night party district, and quiet moments are few and far between — light sleepers should definitely look elsewhere." - Tablet Hotels

The service was good. The breakfast was decent. The location is certainly not in a good area for families. It is right in the middle of what I would consider a "red light district" with working girls everywhere. A few other things I found a bit odd. 1) you are not able to charge to the room. 2) There is no bathroom on the lobby floor. You must take an elevator q floor down. I did take 2 tours the hotel set up. One was to district 13 also known as the graffiti area. And, where Pablo Escobar was killed in 1993. The second one was to guatapa. Both were excellent tours with exceptional guides

I’m going to give this hotel 5 stars. Here’s why: The staff, all of them are exceptional and the highest praise possible for a young lady called Cilene who worked tirelessly to help me with all the arrangements and plans I had. Every request I had was met with a solution and I’ve stayed in many 5 star resorts and I think Cilene’s service is right up there with the best ever received. The decor: I really loved this hotel. It’s cute, modern and very well designed. A proper boutique hotel. The location is great - if like me you want to be in the heart of things. The food: really high standard if you need to eat something quickly before going out or the morning breakfasts, all incredibly healthy and fresh. If I’m ever back in Medellín I have no doubt I’ll visit again. Thank you

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of doing the coffee experience with Javier at the Marquee Hotel, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Javier's passion and knowledge for coffee are immediately apparent, and he creates an atmosphere that is both educational and incredibly enjoyable. The session starts with a sensory exploration of fresh coffee beans. Javier meticulously prepares several samples in identical cups, allowing you to compare the unique characteristics and subtle nuances of each before any water is even added. Once hot water is poured over the grounds, the room fills with the most amazing aromas, and he guides you in identifying the different notes that emerge. The tasting portion was our favorite part. Javier teaches you the professional tasting method, which involves a loud slurp to ensure the coffee coats your entire palate. This allows you to fully appreciate the coffee's body, acidity, sweetness, and distinct flavor notes, which can range from fruity and floral to rich and chocolatey. Javier was so attentive throughout the entire experience, making sure we both understood the concepts and left feeling well-educated without it ever being overwhelming. It was a fascinating and super enjoyable experience from start to finish. We highly recommend this to anyone, from coffee novices to seasoned enthusiasts!

We didn’t stay here but the hotel seemed nice. We did the coffee cupping experience with Javier and it was so fun and interesting. Javier is super friendly (great English) and has amazing coffee knowledge. He taught us about the coffee process, we tasted different coffee & Javier guided us through our own personal taste and preference. 100% recommend!

I highly recommend the Hotel Marquee in Medellín — everything about this hotel is truly amazing! From the incredibly comfortable bed and pillows to the breathtaking views from both the bedroom and the bathroom, it exceeded all my expectations. I had always wanted to stay here, and it did not disappoint.||The hospitality was outstanding — every single staff member made me feel welcome. Special thanks to Natalia and David (I’m sorry I don’t have all the names), but everyone, from the room service team who delivered daily with a smile, to the friendly restaurant staff offering excellent food quality, made my stay unforgettable. The Lychee Martini at the bar was the best I have ever had!||Don’t be worried about the location — yes, there’s music in the surroundings, but we stayed on the 9th floor and slept perfectly fine.||I am very picky when it comes to hotels, but this one has earned my full recommendation — 100% worth it!

Just Checked in and could not be more disappointed I had dinner at the Celeste and Don Diablo and was looking forward to trying Abbiacca I decided to leave the Wake Bio hotel for a different experience, however the women that checked me in was incredibly rude talked to me like a child and could not have been more unprofessional she told me that if i didn’t like it i could cancel my reservation, I then explained that I booked my reservation on a third party app (Priceline) and as a result I could not. she insisted that I could. as i travel frequently i know this is not true and if i cancelled i would have lost my money as a result of the way I was received during the check-in process i am not comfortable staying at this hotel. as a result I will accept the financial loss and my travel companion and I will return back to the Wake Bio for the remainder of our trip. the idea that this is rated 5 stars is laughable.

My visit to Marquee Hotel in Medellín was fantastic! The upscale vibe in El Poblado is spot-on, with a great bar serving craft cocktails and a speakeasy jazz club that’s perfect for a night out. The amazing rooftop bar and pool stole the show—stunning views of Medellín’s skyline and mountains, ideal for sipping drinks or relaxing by the infinity pool. Service was great, with attentive and friendly staff making every moment special. A must-try at the rooftop—don’t miss it!

We had an amazing stay at Marquee Hotel Medellín. Nat and Lis were incredible, their warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly cared for. The rooftop pool and terrace have an unbeatable vibe with stunning views and a great atmosphere. This is easily one of the best boutique hotel experiences in Medellín.
