Google
Great Banh Mi. Some of the best I’ve eaten in Sydney. Crispy pork was the bomb! Worth the ten minute wait in the queue but it was moving fast. Crispy pork, crunchy fresh bread and veggies! Only thing is it’s a hole in the wall concept so you have to find seating outdoors. I found a park close by to enjoy the meal. Would highly recommend!

Google
One of the best bbq pork roll i have tried. Every Sundays i get bbq pork roll for myself. Its very delicious with alot of flavours, fillings and spices. However, the shop is small and does not have dine in facility. Take away service is very fast and it is a busy take away shop.

Google
Banh mi perfection. Generously filled and packed with flavour, this spot nails the banh mi game. The crispy pork is a winner - crunchy skin, juicy meat, and all the right fresh fillings. Easily one of the high benchmarks for banh mi in Sydney, and the prices stay reasonable. Can get busy, so it’s worth going early or during off-peak hours.

Google
The Mog Champ sends his regards. Second time having Marrickville Pork Roll but my first time here at their original shop! Wait was really quick since banh mi are a Vietnamese fast food. Ordered a pork roll and it was as fresh as expected. Won't be my last time having their banh mi for sure, delicious and affordable. Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

Google
- Crackling pork belly was stale, not crispy. They were also thinly chopped up, piled up mountain high which is why they are not the least juicy. Serving was measly. - pate was little and bland. Noticed our purchases were somewhat different and less compared to their regular customers. - stuffed way too much vegetables, pork was little. It was as if we ordered a vegetarian banh mi. + the bun was soft and fresh - that’s all to it In a nutshell, crackling pork belly doesn’t look nor taste like it. It’s overrated, I had way better banh mi than this. It was a wasted an hour and a half drive for substandard food, sadly.

Google
Tried the crispy pork bahn mi. Very generous size and amount of filling. I enjoyed the combination of flavours. I did get the optional chilli added which i couldnt taste until mid way through the roll then it was quite intense. Great value.

Google
Worth the hype & waiting in the queue. Best to go before lunch rush. BBQ pork & pork skin was the best bahn mi I’ve had. Amazing value - $9 each. Such efficient service!

Google
The pork roll was fresh and delicious, but I found a hair in it. Really disappointing, because the taste was great, but hygiene is just as important as flavor.

Yelp
While I was staying in the CBD, I decided to explore Marrickville for some authentic Vietnamese food. I happened to see somewhat of a long line outside Marrickville Pork Roll and decided to give it a try. I love that the sandwich is made right in front of you. It's not something you typically see in the States, but it's similar to how they do it in Vietnam. I also love how they include shredded pork skin in the sandwiches, another thing I don't see in the states. Overall, pretty quick service and it's a great meal on the go. Next time I'll check out the one in the CBD to see if the quality and service is the same.

Yelp
Absolutely hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. When I revisit Australia, I'm taking a drive straight to Marrickville. The line moves quick. The servers don't mess around. It feels like stepping into a loud deli in the corner of their home.

Yelp
Such an excellent banh mi! Tons of fresh veggies and pork cuts sandwiched between a perfectly light and crunchy Vietnamese baguette. The house pâté was probably my favorite part - generous and full of flavor. The chilis added the perfect amount of kick (but fear not for the anti-spicy crowd - they're optional). Service was very friendly and efficient as well!

Yelp
We came here at around 5PM. There was a line, but it moved fast. We got the crispy pork belly and regular pork rolls. The pork rolls here were okay, but they are not any better than other places near by like Illawara Pork Rolls, so I was surprised by its popularity. The crispy pork fillings were pretty average, and same with the pork fillings. Nothing really stood out. Since this place is not available on Uber Eats, I will probably order delivery from Illawara Pork Rolls next time instead of making the trip to Marrickville.

Yelp
Wonderful pork rolls! The meatball roll is also great. They absolutely deserve their stellar reputation. I used to struggle to find a place to sit and eat these, and then I discovered a shaded outdoor seating near the post office down the road which is a great spot to enjoy these delicious pork rolls.

Yelp
Ummmmmm no words! I drive past here all the time and hear so many people say how good it is. I mean how good can a pork roll really be?!??!! Well the answer is INCREDIBLE!! So glad I decided to pop in for a roll. I opted for the chicken and for $5 it was massive, full of chicken and fresh salad ingredients. The mayo and sauce soaked into the roll which made it even tastier. I got chilli it wasn't to hot just the right amount of kick. I find sometimes they over do the chilli and that's all you can taste. There was already a line of people at 12:10, so I would suggest going before or after the lunch hour rush. Cheap, tasty satisfying you couldn't ask for much more!!

Yelp
We saw the dozens long line/queue when we passed by on the bus, so we knew we had to come back. No lines at around 5:30pm (closes at 6), so was able to chat with the owner for a bit, who was super friendly, along with her family/staff members. She's been around for 7 years, and she brings the best of both worlds... Saigon-style sandwich kiosk meets modern health standards... score! Definitely the pork roll was the winner... strips of char siu, fresh vegs, tasty pate, and a slathering of homemade mayo inside a gigantic crusty roll... one of the best I've had the world over. All for $5 AUD... this would easily be a $10 USD sandwich from a fancy food truck in LA. This will be one of my "must-haves" when coming back to Sydney.

Yelp
"Indiana Jones and the quest for the holy pork roll". 2 trains and a bus to make my way out to the inner west from the eastern suburbs brings with it high expectations. I was hoping for a mind bobbling experience of Vietnamese roll goodness. I came across what can only be described as the smallest kitchen ever. I mean literally you can't even go inside the place to order you stick your head inside to order. It's true what they say though good things come in small packages on Occassion. This place delivers. I decided to order the meat ball roll. I asked to be loaded with everything and then some more chilli too. The salads were exquisitely laid out and ready for a quick load of the roll. Even though it was raining I was excited to just sit under cover on the street and experience this moment. The first bite and my sense of taste started to get excited. The bread is absolutely delicious. The outside of the roll crunchy but the inside starts to melt with every chew. The meatballs are loaded with intense flavour and make you want to savour every bite. This is to be eaten quickly though as the rolls cover was starting to break on the bottom as the juices wanted to escape so make sure and savour it quickly otherwise will be soggy. This place is truly an icon of Sydney. Best Vietnamese roll I have had in Sydney and really wanted to order the rest of the menu. Worth the journey out from East.

Yelp
Legendary in the way that Hercules and his Seven Tasks are legendary. Everyone claims to have eaten there even if they haven't. Those that have get a faraway look in their eyes and start drooling spontaneously. Sydney's O.G. banh mi slingers, you know you're at the right place by the long, patient queue of people lining up for a hit of the good stuff. The shop itself puts the hole into hole in the wall. Spread your arms wide. A little wider. There. That's about how big the place is, but they could be German in their efficiency churning out hand feasts by the hundreds urrday. Pro tip: jack up the chilli and coriander, and eat it fast afore the sauce soaks through the roll. Will not survive a car journey of more than 10mins.

Yelp
I came to see what all the fuss was about and I can say it's well warranted. Not my fav banh mi/pork roll joint close to the Sydney CBD (that goes to the one in Hong Ha in Mascot or Banh Mi Co in Pyrmont) but at $4 a pop you can't hate on this. Ingredients are fresh, they're quick with it and it's tasty.

Yelp
If it wasn't for the line up of people around the block, you could very easily miss it. This place is as wide as a row of seats on a budget airline. (Not very!) Don't let the line deter you, their efficiency means you are served in next to no time. Ingredients are fresh and super tasty and at $4.50 I'm not sure what else beats it? I often pay more than that for a coffee!

Yelp
Yet another update. Business must be booming because there is now a branch further down Illawarra Road around 100m on the South side of the station. Much more room and same menu.

Yelp
While the pork roll shop next door sits patiently waiting for customers, this little hole-in-the-wall joint always has a long queue out the front - particularly on weekend lunch rush hour. And for mighty good reason. These little portable feasts will only set you back about $4 and are packed full of deliciousness. All the fresh ingredients are stacked up in front of you so you know exactly what you're getting (who am I kidding, you can smell exactly what you're getting from down the street - onion and coriander). You can't go wrong with the classic or the BBQ pork; both damn fine combos of herbs, salads and of course the star pig. There are also chicken, tuna, meat ball and dim sim options to choose from. Figure out your order before you get to the front of the queue - there's no messing about here. The locals shovel it down on the street outside, but if you can hold out, take a stroll to Marrickville Park and enjoy your stinky breath in the fresh air.

Yelp
As a Vietnamese, I have to say this place does a very good work at making their rolls taste really like those I have back in my country. Very few pork roll places in Sydney sell pork skin rolls and this is one of them. You have to try it out. It tastes like pork jerky. My favourites are meat ball, BBQ pork and pork skin. The price is very affordable and you don't to wait for too long.

Yelp
What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. It's probably the best pork roll (Australian version of bánh mì) in Sydney and is absolutely worth going out of your way for. All the pork sandwiches cost $5 and chicken is $6 everything is so fresh as they are constantly busy. It's all take away food and usually has a line of people waiting. As you'd except cash only but pretty much every major banks atm is within walking distance.

Yelp
Ok this is definitely one of my favourite places for banh mi. And what distingushes them from the rest are 3 main things, their pate, their salads, and their customer service. Price: at $5-$6/roll it's a little steep, considering you can find pretty decent banh mi in Cabramatta for $2.80 (if you're willing to drive a 25km from Marrickville) Quality: The baguette, the pork roll and other proteins are pretty average like other places. However, their pate is da bomb. They make it themselves, and as a Vietnamese who is an addict on pate-on-baguette I can tell you it's the best I've had so far. They're also pretty generous with their salads (pickled carrots, daikon, spring onion, corriander and chillies. Their banh mi also comes with a special sauce. Most other places will just give you soy sauce instead. Customer service: I find them pleasant to deal with compared to some other banh mi places. Have witnessed some customers with so many personalised requests and have never seen them being upset or annoyed, they try to accomodate everyone pretty happily. Tips: 1.you can buy a takeaway box of pate for $10 and it'll last you for many weeks. I get one everytime I visit this place. 2. If you dont want your banh mi to get soggy after 5 mins, ask them to put the salads and sauce separately and they're happy to do that for you thoroughly. My banh mis usually survive 30km drive and when I get home I just put them in the little oven for 5 mins then assemble the salads/sauce/chillies myself and they taste even better.

Yelp
Pretty good rolls, although I have tasted the same stuff in Mascot, if not better. Lining up for it is something I would not bother when there are others around the area that do the same. What is interesting is that, I don't think, many of those loyal customers, who line up, don't realise that the tiny work place, where they go about preparing the much waited rolls, was once a public toilet. Still with the original tiles.

Yelp
best pork rolls ive ever had!! amazing flavour and good customer service. totally recommend you guys to try.

Yelp
I was skeptical at first trying Marrickville pork roll. My friends declared it is the 'best banh mi in Sydney'...big call saying it to Hong Ha regulars. I now see why... If the name doesn't give it away, this place specialises in pork rolls. They've diversified to chicken, tuna and dimsim but pork roll is where it is at. I got the pork roll with pork skin (thin shreds, pork tasting elastic bands) and the lot, it was a full sized meal between a crunch bread roll. The salads are fresh with all the good stuff like cucumber, fresh herbs, picked carrots, they've even got pickled radish which most places don't do anymore and none of the fillers like lettuce (unless you ask for it). As far as perfect banh mi goes, this is a definite yes for me. To top it all off it's $4.50, the price of a large latte or 1/2 a banh mi at some of the hipster places (you know who you are).

Yelp
One of best pork rolls without having to travel all the way to the west (ie. Cabramatta). I've noticed that they add fish sauce to their rolls which makes it a little different and super tasty. It's also considerably cheap too.
google avatar

Bernie V.

Yelp
Long queues but really no reason to be waiting this long. When you can go next door also.. Who do amazing juices.. BUT their rolls are pretty good as far as pork rolls go.. I wouldn't line up for that long though. Come on guys. It's a pork roll and the one next door is just as good.. And you're in Marrickville. Home of Vietnamese foods (besides Cabramatta)
google avatar

Zvezdana O.

Yelp
It's almost embarrassing to admit I am an O.G Marrickvillian who has never had a pork roll here... *crickets* Yeah, I know. Seriously. I finally had one today. Its truly the best, most amazing pork roll ever! People are not lining up around the corner for no reason. This is as good as it gets. 10/10. Popping with flavour. Perfecto!
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
This was good. But not better than what I've had in San Francisco (Saigon Sandwich in the Tenderloin). I like that the pickled veggies were fresh here, and overall the meal is fantastic., esp at $5 AUD. This was recommended by Broadsheet. And to be clear the main item they sell are bahn mi sandwiches--so it's rolls as in bread rolls, not rice paper rolls.

Steph V.

Yelp
What's yo say about the best pork roll hole on the wall except that in the last year it upped the game and got even better with its crispy version with generous cubes of crackling. A recent conversation confirmed that if we worked nearby, we would basically eat this everyday for lunch and never get bored because yes, they are THAT good! The kids love them too....simply the best....better than all the rest
google avatar

Guss M.

Yelp
Best vietnamese roll I've eaten so far. Likely to be the biggest and cheapest too. You must try it. Top 3 favourites: 1. BBQ Pork 2. Tuna 3. Meatballs
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
The best banh mi in Sydney. Hands down. Their special sauce and super fresh ingredients set them apart from all others.
google avatar

Jack H.

Yelp
Best pork rolls in the inner west. This place is so good that long queues often form outside. At $4 the pork rolls are a bargain. This place is worth a special trip just for the pork rolls.
google avatar

Tristan L.

Yelp
Mate. What can I say about this glorious place located in the heart of Marrickville. I'm a chicken roll guy. Not a fan of pork in general but I'm sure it tastes as amazing as the chicken. Added Chilli or not you will not be disappointed. For an easy $5.00 your belly pouch will be stuff with dreams and happiness. If there's a queue don't despair it'll move faster than a bilby at a feral cat convention and if you can speak Vietnamese well done. Its authentic feel will make you feel like Ahn Do in Ho Chi Minh dressed as Miss Saigon. With out a doubt the best Vietnamese Roll in Australia.
google avatar

Tesha M.

Yelp
They come from far and wide to line up around the corner for a shop smaller than some waredrobes I've owned and it's well warranted. Marrickville Pork Roll make the best pork roll by far that I've tried in Sydney. And they're cheap as chips too. Probably cheaper! Your mouth will be watering standing in that line and when you finally get to the counter make sure you've got your order and your cash ready because everyone behind you is dying for a taste. Everything is fresh and delicious and it's put together quick as hell to work through all those hungry customers and you'll be out of there in no time wandering down Marrickville road in some sort of pork roll bliss. If you have not tried, you have not lived!
google avatar

Victoria J.

Yelp
Keeping this review short--this banh mi was good, but not great. I tried a two different sandwiches and the pork was definitely the best compared to the chicken. It's cheap and a big portion, so that was nice. But, I wouldn't think twice about coming here.

FuckMarrickville P.

Yelp
Ordered 8 pork rolls, 1 chilli 7 non chilli, they made it super fast like less than 5 minutes. Get home to bite into a pork roll with chilli without a label, and then turns out they gave us 3 pork roll with chilli and only labeled one. Must have been premade and just shoved it to us. Literally worst service. How do you fuck up that hard?

Passionate F.

Yelp
Saw their other outlet in Ashfield and felt keen to give this one a go. Very happy that we did today. There are a few people in front of us but the queue is not as long as Hong Ha. Ordered their BBQ Pork Bahn Mi. The bread is one of the best so far. The shredded carrot is also very fresh but the pickled turnip and BBQ pork are the dominant ingredients that makes it a winner of Banh Mi in Sydney.
google avatar

Jamie Y.

Yelp
Best pork/chicken/meatball rolls in the Inner West. And better than Ha Long in Botany. Go the pork meatball roll. At $4, you can't beat it.
google avatar

Maarie R.

Yelp
Of all the pork roll joints in the world, why did I try this one? Well, buzz for one thing, with the clincher being the $5 price tag. Up with the best pork rolls that I've had, my bbq pork roll was big and bursting with flavour, freshness and all round goodness.
google avatar

Yumeng Z.

Yelp
Great size! I don't eat pork so I tried the chicken roll. I thought there is gonna be only the lean meat. But the chicken skin in it really gross me out. And the chili, I asked for a bit, but it is super spicy. I think I will give it another go, next time maybe tuna roll or vegie roll instead.
google avatar

Sibylla D.

Yelp
Always a wait outside this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Great value for $4.50, you get a fresh pork roll with delicious sauce.

Darren P.

Yelp
There rolls are good but nothing that stands out from others in Marrickville. Great service line always moves quick.....Delish next door rolls just as good if queue is super long and you in rush
