Currently staying here, finishing out our stay, but will not be returning. Very disappointed, I wanted to return again, and appreciated the clean rooms. But there are a few paint issues, and when we first arrived we were given a room that had red spots (they appear darker in person) on the couch, and a strong smell of smoke in the room. We were told by housekeepers staff knew beforehand, but we were still given that room. Not sure if staff forgot or we weren’t a priority (not sure which is worse). They offered us a new room as if they were doing us a favor, but that was bare minimum, of course we wouldn’t stay there, and that was all. I connected with their customer service and they offered complimentary breakfast or 2000 points which I told them would be of no use since we don’t eat breakfast and if we never visit again why would we need their points. They stated they issued the points even though I told them I didn’t want it. I work in customer service, and so I am usually extra hard on businesses making guests happy cause I know the background of how easy it is to do so. I offered my solution, they didn’t want to do so and went out of their way to not listen to me and still issue useless points. I would rather not give a business my money or recommendation if they don’t also try and make their guests happy , for the price you can get better.

Don’t expect your Marriott loyalty to mean much at Marriott Saddle Brook. I’ve stayed here several times, and not once have I been welcomed back or recognized as an Ambassador Elite. Suite upgrades are supposed to be based on availability. After being told by multiple staff members that one was available and I would receive it, I packed up my things. As I walked to the front desk to collect the keys, the assistant manager who was there now, suddenly reversed course and told me I wouldn’t be upgraded because my overall stay was “too long” and that she couldn’t trust I’d vacate the room after a few days. She brought up all of these stories of a previous guest that they had issues with and started wild accusations that I may cause similar problems. Meanwhile, they gave the exact room they originally offered me to another guest later that day. I have never in my life been treated so badly by a Marriott hotel. I'm in shock with how she spoke to me and how this hotel treated me. I will never stay at this property again.

I wanted to acknowledge the wonderful service we received from Jeta, the front desk clerk. Despite the hotel being busy, she handled all clients with grace, patience and kindness. The hotel was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fresh and hot. Overall, I had a great stay at the Marriott Saddle Brook!

I am writing to express my profound disappointment with my recent experience at this hotel, which aligns with the negative reviews I encountered prior to my stay. Although one staff member made commendable efforts to accommodate my needs by attempting to change my room, the underlying issue lay not with her, but with the inadequate air conditioning service in the accommodations. This deficiency significantly hindered my ability to rest after enduring a four-hour drive followed by an additional ten hours of work. I had anticipated enjoying a quality meal and a much-needed respite; regrettably, this was not my experience. I contemplated relocating to another hotel on the same day; however, my exhaustion led me to refrain from risking a late-night drive in the area. During my attempt to procure a cold bottle of water and some snacks, I approached the check-in counter alone and waited over five minutes for assistance. As I presented my room number and name, another guest approached the counter. The staff member who was attending to me abruptly ceased processing my order and began to assist the other guest, mistakenly assuming she was associated with me. After standing alone for an extended period, I found this behavior troubling. I immediately interjected, stating, "She is not with me; why are you adding her order to my account?" The staff member responded, "I thought she was with you." I clarified that my extended wait time indicated that I was alone, and I would have communicated otherwise. This incident exemplified a concerning lack of adherence to proper hotel protocols. On the following morning, while checking out, I discussed this incident with another hotel staff member who had previously assisted me. She graciously offered me loyalty points, yet my primary intention was to bring this matter to their attention. Additionally, I noticed another staff member at the front desk observing me in a rather unfriendly manner. I sensed that she did not appreciate my feedback, and I believe she may have been the hotel manager, as her demeanor was notably unsupportive. I found this interaction particularly disheartening, especially following the difficulties I faced with the air conditioning and the inappropriate attempt to charge me for another guest's order. I intend to formally reach out to the corporate office of the hotel to discuss my concerns in greater detail. Additionally, I will restrict the use of this hotel by any employees from my company.

Update as of 8/26 I have not heard anything back from the thieves and liars that work here. I was almost at the point of becoming an ambassador elite with Marriott however this experience has ruined everything for me with the brand. I will make sure to no longer stay at the brand due to the fact that I couldn’t even get a call back or any kind of assistance from them after they stole our belongings and wasted our time. I wouldn’t stay here unless you like lairs and thieves. We had recently stayed at this location on a weekend trip and while I do understand it is 100% our fault we had left behind a wallet at the hotel room. When we called them it took about 45 minutes to get through and i understand it was the night shift and they only had one person on desk duty so I’m not upset about that at all. When we finally spoke to someone and gave them all the details they put us on hold and came back saying they found the wallet and confirmed it would stay there for 90 days before being disposed of. We asked if it could be mailed to us and we were told to call the next day to see if possible. Next day comes around I call and speak to Maria she also confirms the wallet is there and tells me that the GM said it can’t be shipped to us. Once again at this point everything is our fault so I’m not upset at them at all. We drive down there to them a 20 days later as that’s the soonest we can go. When we arrive I had booked a room with them as we figured I’d be best to give them our business as they were nice enough to hold on to it for us. BIG MISTAKE. I ask for the wallet before checking in and get told they have to wait for the manager to check me in as they don’t see my reservation. She comes and I explain the wallet situation to her. She assures me I will be given the wallet but the check in is quicker and she will go get it for me. We get checked in and she says I’ll call you shortly with the wallet. An hour passes and nothing so I call downstairs and that manager had already left for the day( I find this out in the morning) the older man at the front desk lies and says the manager( who has left for the night) is looking for it. I stay up waiting and at this point it’s 1am I call it a night and go down in the morning to get the wallet. I then get told she left a little after our check in time and told no one. I ask for a manager and get told Maria (the manager) does not want to speak to me as she’s busy but we never had a wallet turned in or anything. A nice lady at the front desk calls the GM and then tells me he will call me on Monday and mail the wallet out to me as they remember it being there. At this point I wasted almost 300 dollars to stay at the hotel. We drove a round trip of 10 hours and wasted our time going for something they said they had in there lost and found not once but twice. I patiently wait all day Monday and don’t get a single call. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to my worse enemy as they are either liars or thieves and love to waste people’s time. Everyone wanted to pass it off to the next person and no one wants to step up and assist.

Google
I was so sad to write a bad review for the hotel, but the overall experience was very bad here. First off, my husband and I checked in at 2:00 am and had to leave pretty soon after at 8:00 am even though we had originally planned on staying a couple of days. As soon as we walked in the room it was gross. The floor was dirty and the bathroom cabinets had visible spoltches on it. We had bugs and hair on the bathroom floor which I added a picture of below. I wish I took more pictures to show how bad the room actually was. We went to bed and were afraid of having bed bugs because of how dirty the room was. In the morning, I went to use the ironing table and it had crumbs and crust on it. We spoke to hotel management about it and they dismissed us. We called them, and they put us on hold, then hung up on us. We requested a refund because we were forced to leave a few hours after check in due to sanity issues, and they refunded us only one night even though we had to find another hotel to stay in. Very bad experience. My advice is to not stay here.

Google
errible Experience – Unresponsive and Untrustworthy I stayed at this hotel for one night and booked two rooms. Upon check-in, they placed a $50 security hold on my card, which is standard. However, a week later, I noticed an unexpected $158 charge. I’ve been trying to resolve this for three weeks now. When I call accounting, no one ever answers and there’s no option to leave a voicemail. The front desk staff repeatedly tells me to contact accounting, but they’re completely unreachable. I’m stuck in a loop with no resolution. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, and I feel scammed. If this is how they treat their guests after checkout, I strongly advise staying elsewhere.

Google
Positives: very kind and professional staff, they work very hard and really don’t try. ||Negatives: |1) descriptions on Marriott’s site/app are inaccurate. First, they now charge $20/night for parking. Second - there are no bathrobes or slippers, which usually tells us it’s a nicer Marriott as the brand is inconsistent. We actually had the slippers from the previous Marriott we were at on the same trip, so it is possible. ||2) it’s remodeled- but cosmetically and cheaply. The walls are PAPER THIN. We could hear every conversation in the hallways, and even knocking on neighbors doors, at all hours. The mattresses are super soft and already sagging. We were given 2 different rooms- more on that- but inconsistent furnishings. One had an arm chair and no side table, the other had a side table and no arm chair. Also - there’s one small towel rack, which doesn’t work with a double room if you want us to “conserve” resources and reuse. ||3) on our 3 night stay, 2 of them there was one elevator, because the other was broken. Pretty terrible when we were told the hotel is fully booked and had long waits for the elevator. ||4) our shower drain suddenly got blocked up. Not sure what happened there, but they did their best and did try to get us a second room as quickly as one became available.

Yelp
It had all of the comfort of a full service Marriott. Rooms were clean and bedding was fantastic. The house music on the first floor was weirdly loud and had an interesting vibe. The "M Lounge" for Bonvoy Elite guests was embarrassingly poorly stocked. Apples and a small bag of pretzels were the only items available. Good location. Good staff. Clean. Just missing some of the finer touches a full-service would imply.

Yelp
OMG where do i start? this is the BEST hotel I ever stayed at. They made my birthday very, very special. The hotel was very clean and a perfect size. The hotel staff welcomed me in Such great pleasure. I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but he was a Spanish guy on the Night Shift. He was very friendly. KARA thank you so so much for making my birthday the best and special. I truly appreciate you and this whole staff if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be staying here. I wish I saved my video and pictures.

Yelp
We were debating on this location versus a location closer to NY because this location for 2 days saved us a good $150 which is significant. At the end we are so happy with the decision. Hotel is a little old but they're in the midst of renovations so don't expect luxury rooms. Beds are comfy and room was spacious but not much counter space in the bathroom. Beautiful indoor pool and surprisingly large gym. They have complimentary water bottles and wired headsets in the gym. Ice makers are pretty far towards the back of the building behind the pool. 1st floor was out of order but I didn't mind the hike since there was a nice view of the pool. Concierge lobby is on the 3rd floor. They also have complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings in the lobby. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Yelp
I was sent here on a work trip & this hotel is awful. I had to change rooms because the bathroom was dirty & smelt bad. The other room was better but super run down. The hotel needs major renovations. I was at the front desk every time I came back because my keys stopped working after every use and they weren't near my phone or keys. My final day there J was late to work because their computers were down and I couldn't get into the room because they couldn't connect my key. They sent me up 3 times with different employees trying to get in my room and it did not work until the last try. They were very helpful but this hotel is not it. The price for parking is outrageous they have a huge lot and are on their own land they shouldn't be charging for parking.

Yelp
We stayed at Marriott Saddle Brook for two days with our family, and while the overall experience was negative, the room was terrible. There was a strong, unpleasant smell due to humidity, and we couldn't handle it. We ended up leaving the hotel in the middle of the night first day. Make sure to check the room before settling in to ensure it's clean and has a fresh scent.
google avatar

Yelp
I would absolutely recommend staying in this Marriott to anyone who happens to be in the unfortunate area of Saddle Brook NJ. The area is not the greatest, but the hotel staff were an absolute life saver during our stay. They bent over backwards to accommodate us and several members in our party. The hotel is clean, though it is aged quite a bit and is need of some updates (hence the 4 stars). However, the rooms were very clean and cozy (don't expect a microwave). The beds are really, really comfortable and the shower might be the reason I stay again in the future. Super hot water, updated shower and hard pressure. Overall...Great stay!

Yelp
Not the best Marriott in the area. Biggest pet peeve for a traveling professional is using a micro table top iron board! Really Marriott!!!! Most people in this area are business men and women who have to iron clothes! Also the bathrooms are way too small no place for toiletries, and hotel construction going on all day. Breakfast was absolutely horrible! If you're in a pinch this hotel works, but go to Marriott Teaneck instead its a full service right up the street

Tarri V.

Yelp
I wanna give this not no stars, but I'll give her one first of all where the fuck did the pool go? Why would they get rid pool at the whole point of me going to the Marriott man at the front desk the nighttime shift the audacity to tell me that there is silent time after 11 PM very rude

Yelp
I am not a Marriott guy, but thought I would try the. Out for 2022 as I have maxed out my Hilton status. Figured this would be a good one to start with as its close to the office in NJ. I am not usually a fan of the hotel restaurant but when you have no car and the only other place close is a Dunkin, you go with what you can. I went with pasta as a burger is a burger is a burger as far as I am concerned. The pasta was just the right aldented. The chicken was cubed grilled and tender. The sauce was missinga slight touch of herbs but not bad for hotel food. The atmosphere was good until the rowdy family with loud young boys entered and made it unbearable, but again it's a hotel lobby bar. The hotel it's self was nothing special nor were the rooms.

Yelp
AWFUL hotel experience. For a little context, we are high schoolers and we were on a school trip to Washington DC/New York, and ended up staying at this hotel in Jersey for three days during the NY portion of the trip. Between my friends and I in four separate rooms, we came across WAY too many issues--don't get me started on the ICE cold water, even when set on the hottest setting, the lack of towels, and get this: little hairs on each of the towels. The showers were dirty with brown grime, the bathroom door didn't have a lock, and my friend's bathroom door next door was OFF its hinges. In fact, we found a dried up red spot on our door and on the wall in the room next to us, as if someone had bled, and no one cleaned it up. There was vodka left in one of the rooms. I'm not kidding when I say this: my friend's room's toilet EXPLODED when he used it in the middle of the night and he and his roommates literally had to relocate. Staff was awful and unhelpful, my friend had left a fanny pack with important items (phone, card) somewhere outside the room and when we went to go ask for help, this lady on the security team stopped us and after hearing our dilemma and flat out refused to help retrieve these items. She walked us back to our room and MOCKED us along the way, shouting to another security guard and saying, "Hey April, look at these girls, they think they so slick." (This is a direct quote.) Aside from the various incidents listed above, the hotel was just extremely mediocre and poorly ran. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
I stay at Marriott's religiously for work and this is certainly one of my worst experiences. For starters, when I arrived to the hotel after a full day of traveling, I was told my room was no longer "in inventory." On top of that, the hotel is quite dated, the phone in my room doesn't work, the key cards constantly don't work, and their lounge isn't open for hors d'oeuvres.
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time here. I used my Marriott Bonvoy hotel points to stay here in two connected double bed rooms for two weekend nights with my family. My check-in went smoothly for my two connected rooms: 906 and 908 on their Marqui floor. The Marquis lounge was closed over the weekend, but I was entitled to complimentary breakfasts at their lobby restaurant for the four of us. Both rooms had nice views overlooking the parking lot, Route 80 and Garden State Parkway. Both rooms had mini refrigerators. The shower and towels were very nice. My complaints were the too small 32 inch flat screens TVs, dresser drawers and closet doors which did not close properly, the room doors were very noisy when closing. The bathroom was too small, had a low ceiling, with poor ventilation, therefore, water condensation would result after taking a shower. There were also small scratches on the 906 bathroom sink. The scalding hot water was too hot for normal usage. The thin toilet paper was also too thin, almost like single ply septic toilet paper although the hotel was not in a septic area. One of their two elevators also had some malfunctioning during our two night stay. The Marriott included complimentary breakfast for the four of us during our two night stay. Their complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, bread, bagels, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc. with pleasant table servers. Our check out went smoothly. In conclusion I preferred this hotel over the nearby Crowne Plaza hotel, which I stayed and reviewed last year. I will likely return here again rather than the Crowne Plaza mainly due to their complimentary breakfast.

Yelp
As a Gold Elite Marriot Bonvoy member I have some thoughts on this hotel: If you want internet access, do not stay here If you want a spacious room, do not stay here If you want to be able to sleep through the night, do not stay here If you want a clean room, do not stay here If you want staff that respond quickly, do not stay here If you want a swimming pool, do not stay here If you want to feel that you got the value you paid for, do not stay here If you want to keep your high opinion of the Marriott brand, do not stay here I had easily the worst Marriott experience I've ever had at this hotel. Did not have Internet the entire stay, the rooms are wildly smaller than the photos, the sheets had stains, the towels had hairs still on them, the response from staff took hours and when they did respond the information was either incorrect or just wrong, the couple in front of me booked the hotel for the pool in the pictures (which had been filled with cement and the pictures never updated), the walls to the rooms would make paper feel like a brick wall with how thin they were (you hear EVERY word your neighbor says on their phone calls), and just the general feel of the place is "we'll get to that when we get to that" at BEST. If you have piles of money you don't mind wasting on a sub par hotel experience this is YOUR PLACE. For EVERYONE ELSE, never stay here. This is your sign.

Yelp
Housekeeping staff was awesome ( especially short, older lady) All facilities were constantly being cleaned and was well-maintained. Saddle Brook Pub Restaurant- service was excellent, food was mediocre at best. We tried several entrees and one appetizer during our stay, mainly due to the convenience of the location, but food was barely edible (sometimes not even edible). Front desk service was hit or miss. lol

Yelp
My husband, infant daughter & I stayed here as a last minute need when our car had a flat tire off the NJ turnpike & we couldn't get it replaced within the same day. Despite this hotel being booked for someone's wedding taking place that weekend, we were able to get a great double bed room at the last minute. The front desk was accommodating, friendly & helpful, as well as quick with our needs. Their support staff that assisted me in getting all of our daughters gear to & from the room was exceptionally helpful to us. Every request was quick & what we needed. The hotel itself was clean downstairs within the front desk check-in area, as well as the restaurant & bar on the lobby level. The rooms themselves could have used more updates when you compare it to other Marriott locations everywhere else, but it felt clean & safe enough. This was what we needed in a time of last minute needs & we were grateful that. Again, I cannot speak highly enough with everyone who was working there & helping with our stay. Great team you have at this location Marriott, truly.

Yelp
This is the only affordable hotel in the area with a bar and restaurant! The food was quite tasty considering this is a 2 $$ hotel. The room was clea, shower was large! Love the shower only rooms, because really, who's taking a bath in a hotel? The best part of the this hotel is the Staff! So friendly and helpful...employees can make or break a business, cusps to this staff! I'll definitely stay here

Jay C.

Yelp
This may have been a nice hotel in the year 2000. Outdated, barely hanging on. Everything is old and worn out. Maybe the more pathetic full service Marriott I've ever stayed at. There are Fairfield Inn's that are more modern than this hotel. No way should it pass a Marriott full service location test. Had to call down 3 times after 11pm because the room next to mine had the TV blaring. Would rather sleep in my car. I can't forget the mini TV and lack of a mini fridge. You don't treat a Lifetime Platinum like this.

Michael M.

Yelp
This hotel was full to capacity with multiple wedding and other events going on during my four night stay. The rooms had recently been updated and were very nice. The staff, although stretched thin, were right on top of all the guest needs that I witnessed. Our group was modest by comparison to other groups during our stay but we ate at the restaurant ( terrific), congregated at the bar and had really friendly service. When we arrived we walked around the corner to find a local 'Joisey bagel shop' that was great: huge fresh baked corn muffins and great, authentic Joisey bagels and, of course, crap coffee :)
google avatar

Yelp
The staff always is attentlive to your every need or request, this location is conveniently located to all major roads. Stop by ,get a room and feel like a valued Marriott memeber!

Yelp
So Shady. We tried to book a room online which seemed a lot cheaper than there website. After checking their amenities they list $20 / day for parking. so your not really getting a good price booking online... On their own website they list free parking though. Their booking site makes it so hard to contact the Saddle brook Marriot directly and they were outright nasty to talk to. They have a huge parking lot and this is not NYC. Never again will we think of staying in a Marriott after experiencing such deceptions. There was a $50.00+++ difference in the rates per night plus taxes.
google avatar

Amy V.

Yelp
I will not be staying here again. Dirty and old. Smells moldy and is stuffy. Air did not work in the room, and there were stains and hair. The coffee maker was dirty , with a used coffee still inside and not refilled for my check-in. Breakfast was cold and horrible for 21 dollars.. Fruit was not ripe or ready to eat. Coffee was just as bad. Just a heads up, there is no stair climber in the fitnessroom.as.per their website. Internet and wifi is 14 dollars a day. Bottled water was only in fitness room, and coffee/tea is not out all day.

Yelp

Yelp
Not worth the headache attached to booking. Stuck in jersey last minute booked at 11:44pm thru booking.com when arriving at the hotel they had no record. After providing confirmation and pin the only resolution the staff could provide was to contact booking.com ourselves so at midnight booking staff try to help by providing more confirmation. The hotel staff were rude to myself & the booking agent trying to assist. The hotel staff lied about being management to booking.com agent then proceeded to tell us "I'm not really the manager". After a 30min phone call the hotel staff refused to send a cancellation email to booking.com per the policy so I could just book direct at hotel for a room. The booking.com agent had to get permission to cancel room at no fee from there higher ups as the hotel staff were no help. Finally we're booked directly with the hotel and I was charged the standard room price, taxes & $50 hold. At 1am. They then proceeded to charge me an additional $171 at 5am. No receipt was provided at checkout. After discovering the additional charge I called hotel where I was hung up on by hotel staff when explaining the situation of additional charges. I have had to contact Marriot customer service directly to get any answers. 2 days later still no invoice emailed to me as requested. This was one of the worst experiences I have had customer service wise. The hotel is one of the more decent/clean hotels in the area that we travel too quite a bit. Unfortunately we will never use this hotel again due to the blatant disrespect by staff.

Yelp
Had a decently comfortable stay. Deducting a star for the fragrance pumped into the lobby and some minor things like a slight mildew smell and the bathroom door hanging askew. The AC thermostat claimed around 5°F cooler than reality. Power outlets only on one side of the bed. Hallway noise was about average. Things that were nice: Hotel restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner, actual half & half in the room, easy checkin and checkout, ample parking, tv with built-in streaming, blazing fast wifi (80mbit), nice room rate, comfortable bed, overall clean. Not far from a fast EV charging station. All in all, would stay here again.

Manija V.

Yelp
The employees in here were very racist and distasteful. They discriminated my family and I. They did not want us at their hotel, My card was charged and I DID NOT stay there. When I told them the transaction went through they blatantly lied in my face and told me it did not. Even after I showed them PROOF IT DID, They did nothing to resolve the issue and stole money from me! I would not stay here if you are a person of color. I'm unsatisfied and in disbelief with their actions. NO HOSPITALITY AT ALL.

Hayley H.

Yelp
Worst Marriott i've ever stayed at...our heat was BLASTING the entire time and no matter what temp we turned AC to it didn't change. Only room availability they had to switch us to they couldn't "guarantee was cooler." it was almost 80 degrees our entire stay... do not book here.
google avatar

Yelp
Very convenient and trying hard. The bar and adjoining restaurant are a plus, with great bartenders, a nice selection of wines and liquors and above average food. Breakfast offered buffet with an omelette station or a la carte. All yummy. Prices were quite reasonable and the hotel was clean. The staff was exceptionally helpful, friendly and accommodating considering they were dealing with three weddings, 125 guests at the one we attended alone, and the place was packed. What they can't fix is the old building, small bathrooms and overall footprint - nowhere to go but up.

Dr. Terri W.

Yelp
I wish I could give negative stars- this hotel ruined part of my wedding day for my son- posted prominently in the elevator it boasts calling the operator for room service for breakfast- many of the wedding party counted on this being available for convenience in the morning- when calling in the morning, we were told we had to go down to the restaurant to order our "room service "- huh?? Then it's not room service if we have to go down and get it! Construction noise went on all day which we were not forewarned about- it is also almost impossible to reach anyone at the hotel to bring up complaints- absolutely horrible experience.

Yelp
I do a LOT of travel for business and personal and Marriott is my hotel chain of choice (I'm titanium elite status just to give you an idea). The Marriott Saddle Brook is by far one of the WORST experiences I've had! I stayed in room 1214 and upon entry the room wreaked of the smell of mold. Upon inspection and in drawing back the curtains I discovered where it was! Upon my bedbug inspection (I do this in every single hotel room I stay in) I discovered questionable markings on the mattress that should have been addressed by the hotel staff / housekeeping through their daily upkeep, however, they clearly weren't. There was also a long strand of hair above the bathroom door that if my eyes saw, I know housekeeping had to in the past but probably just ignored. There was also the sound of someone knocking on doors throughout the night into the morning literally every 10 minutes. I planned on addressing these issues with the desk agents upon checkout when they asked my how my stay was, however, since they never asked me ho my stay was I didn't get to and said let me instead post this review. I am booked to stay here again over Christmas but I am changing this reservation ASAP!

Yelp
Let's not pretend anyone really stays here but for maybe traveling on business. That being said, it's not the nicest marriott. BUT the staff is very kind, very attentive and the restaurant is surprisingly decent (but for charging $60 for a bottle of $10 wine). The TV didn't work, b/c housekeeping seems to be famous for disconnecting things while cleaning, but maintenance showed up within seconds of my call and all was well. The property isn't even worth three stars, but the staff is worth five. I would stay here again for business.

Yelp
The first room I was provided clearly had a mildew smell. I asked for a cleaner room and they provided me a room on the next floor. The room smelled better initially, but I found mold on the wallpaper next to the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone sensitive to fragrances or mold.

Yelp
Let me be very clear, the ONLY reason this hotel is getting 5 stars is because of the staff, specifically Michael Albano at the front desk. The actual physical plant of this building could use some TLC. The lobby is fine, if not a little cramped, compared to newer Marriotts, but it's the corridors that are the most noticeable. Dim and stale, they look out of place. Also, the elevators are a little wacky. At least on the 10th floor, they wouldn't go down, unless you opened and reclosed the doors a few times. (Elevator #2) The rooms are similarly fine. Decent King bed, with a mini fridge sitting on the ground, which always looks a little cheap. Now the bathroom was great. I'm not sure if they refreshed them and not the rooms, but the shower stall was awesome and the handle was on the opposite side so you don't have to get soaked when turning it on. The shower head was a rain style which was really nice also. Another small detail was that the toilet was angled out so my knee wasn't colliding with the toilet paper cover. So overall, this is really looking like a 3.5 on the scale, but the people drive this to a 5. I arrived super early for my reservation (11AM) and was totally content to do work in the lobby while I waited, but Michael was super accommodating and appreciative that I didn't demand a room. I never understand people that demand things that they're not entitled to. I got my room early and was able to work in peace, and was incredibly grateful. Also, this morning, Michael printed out two documents for me at the business center computers have no USB ports. I do hope that this hotel gets a refresh. But I more hope that the owners and GM understand how crucial their staff is to the success of this Marriott.

Yelp
What a dump! Just look at the sign. It's been like this for years. If it looks like trash on the outside, just imagine how the rooms are.

Yelp
This is the wort hotel ever. How could this be a Marriott property? The rooms are dirty, we found a giant cockroach. The bathroom was too tiny for even a four year old . There was no bedside outlet to charge your phone on one side of the bed. Extremely poor lighting, air conditioner didn't work, I could go on! Stay away far away from this horrible hotel!!!

Yelp
I've stayed here for at least 4 weeks in a row.. overall clean and updated hotel. However, the room with king size bed is very very cramped so now I get a room with double beds.. the hot water in the shower keeps going, randomly, and then comes back.. and don't bother ordering room service because they'll charge you $5 AND not even give you a plate or silverware - it comes in a to go box.. I tried ordering an omelet for breakfast but they don't serve that even though the menu says "egg any style" and I felt the guy who was taking the order was a little rude. I stay here purely out of convenience!

Yelp
We stayed two nights at the Saddle Brook Marriott while in town for a wedding. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, a couple minor items, but nothing that took away from our visit. If I listed one thing that stood out at the SB-Marriott, it would be the customer service! Every employee made a point of greeting us and offering their assistance. We were treated like a regular, even though we'd never visited before. On Sunday afternoon, we were waiting for the rest of our group in the lobby and an employee walked up to us and gave us cold bottles of water before we headed out! The lobby and common areas appear recently remodeled and they have renovation going on throughout the different floors in the hotel. The indoor pool area has plenty of seating and room to relax around the deck, while the pool itself is very large and clean. The fitness room was one of the best and most equipped rooms I've ever seen. Multiple Nautilus type machines, free weights, 6 treadmills, elliptical, etc. Even with all this equipment there was plenty of room to move around and work out. Our room on the 8th floor was clean and well apportioned except no mini-fridge (one can be requested if needed). The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the shower head was amazing! Great water pressure with lots of streams. The only issue was the room is showing its age and is need of an update/remodel. The furniture and areas in the room show they have been well used over the years and need to be replaced, but I want to stress, everything was very clean. No complimentary Wifi in the rooms. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling around the area in NJ. It is an easy on/off several highways and close to the shopping in Paramus. While the hotel has a restaurant and nice bar, it is conveniently located close to several good eating establishments, plus there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street.

Yelp
I had a great experience here with my boyfriend and friends. Our friends got married and they used this hotel for stay in. I did think it was a bit odd that there was balcony in each room but no door? Breakfast is not free which might be a downfall for other guests. My boyfriend and I did have a great breakfast in the dine in though. The croissants were super soft and I really enjoyed the breakfast sausages and eggs!

Yelp
Upon arrival the lobby is elegant with a friendly staff. You would question why a nice hotel is in such an area. I normally stay at this property when visiting NJ/NY area. It is central to where I need to be with easy access to the freeways. It's also not far from MetLife stadium. The room I stayed in was sub par. I normally heavily judge a hotel by the shower and blow dryer. It's important to me to be in and out when needed. The shower pressure here was fine, but the temperature fluctuation did not provide a good shower. Cold water came out most of the time and the occasional burning water came as a surprise. The drain was also backed up. The blow dryer was the typical Marriott blow dryer that does not work well. You need to turn it on and wait for it to warm up before getting heat. It is not a blow dryer that can get you in and out quickly. Unfortunately I didn't get to experience the concierge room or the gym. Hope to do both the next time I stay here. I hope the hotel improves especially with the construction that is taking place.

Yelp
Got to the room and the bed had dirt on it so I asked for another room. When I got to the new room, the tv didn't even work. Tried to get ice from the ice machine on that floor and ended up having to go to the next floor to get ice. This should be considered a Motel, not a hotel. Worst experience ever!!

Yelp
good service but the sheets were dirty. It looked like maybe poop stains on them. There was a little blood looking stain. overall good but could have been cleaner.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Could have been great. Room temperature control was very good -- controls worked and machine was quiet. Bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Location was ok. Parking was free and adequate. Internet was good. Noise level was ok. Front desk staff were generally friendly. I got a good room rate. Room was clean and well-kept. Towels in bathroom were large. BUT ... [1] When the shower worked, it was good, but it failed. No water. After it was repaired, the control was poor: I could get it too hot or not hot enough. Nothing else. Shower failed a second time a different day. Next to last day, shower worked, but didn't get hot. [2] Room had no mini-frig nor a microwave. Not even a pen! [3] I needed to use the laundry room but couldn't. Laundry room had only one washer, broken, and no change machine. Front desk did not have adequate change. Who puts in coin-operated machines, without making change available? [4] Keys worked once and then failed -- had to get new key almost every time I entered. [5] TV was on when I entered room, and then I learned why. Neither the remote nor the power button on the side worked -- had to unplug it to turn it off. (But since I checked in late, I couldn't find the outlet until the next morning. So the TV was on the first night. Fortunately I could mute it.) [6] Entry light very, very dim -- not useful. [7] No prices on any item in snack/gift shop. [8] One power outlet beside bed worked, the other didn't. Both the working and nonworking outlets were on the side of bed I generally don't use. [9] One bedside lamp worked, the other didn't. Again, both on the wrong side for me. [10] Breakfast was ok, but only one option -- full buffet -- and expensive. Not included in room rate. Although I thought it was. Later a menu with other options appeared. [11] Not sure, but I don't think indoor pool was heated. Water was cool to the touch. No hot tub. Pool was attractive, but no one used it. I don't plan to stay here again. Probably the laundry experience was the most unfortunate of the above for me. But the poor shower experience ranks up there too.

Yelp
Terribly disappointed in my latest stay at this Marriott location. Before I booked I called around to get numerous rooms for my family who were all flying in, and wanted to ensure clean, updated looking rooms for a special occasion. As for price, I assumed since they were higher it'll be nicer, but I was mistaken. The crown plaza near them was 10 times nicer and cleaner, much more modern lobby and rooms. I was promised one thing from Marriott, but they never delivered on they word. Room was old, smelly, furniture and amenities had lots of wear, looking like a one star motel. Pics I'm attaching will speak for themselves.

Yelp
This place is horrible , especially the mgr. We had a very very bad experience.. it all started when my husband and myself checked in late at night and the man who checked us in gave us some bad advice. My husband is handicapped and asked if we could park our rental car in one of the handicap spots without a plaque. We live in Florida and our car there has handicap plates...so he explained to us that the Marriott was private property and the town police dont patrol there..only if they are called by the desk people. he wanted the year, make, model and license plate of the car we had..which i provided to him immediately..he said he made a note on our room #. Well after a couple days i received a ticket! A copy of the ticket was made and given to the mgr Luis who basically told me that i was wrong..the police do patrol the property and it was not private property!! He did not care about what i was stressing about and did not offer me any advice or compensation..all he told me was to go down to the police station and tell them...i dont even think he put any calls into the officer at the station like he told me The Marriott should be ashamed of themselves for not even offering anything to me at all seeing how their personnel did not give us the correct information at all..their personnel should be thoroughly trained and they weren't !!! i travel and i know quite a few people who travel and i will be letting them know what kind of place this is and to take their business elsewhere from now on!! Do not stay at any Marriott establishment if this is the way that the managers treat their clients..Horrific !!!

Yelp
Older hotel but well maintained with outstanding service and very good restaurant. This is my go to hotel from now on whenever I am in the area. The staff goes out of their way to help and I heartily commend them for being one of the finest staffs in the Marriott group

Yelp
In town for work. I'm an elite status reward Marriott member. This place isn't too terrible but it's far from good. It's obviously an older property. You can tell that when you see the outside and pull up to it. Couldn't tell by the cost! $180 a night on a weekday. Glad I'm not paying, work is. The lobby has that new vibe but once you get into the hotel floors you can tell it's in need of a remodel. Rooms aren't bad. Bathroom is terrible. It's a sink, no counter top. Grungy nasty under the sink. Lots of good places to eat within a 4 mile drive of the place. Didn't eat here once. Around the elevators on the 5th floor smelled of urine. It was weird. No outlets or charging ports around the bed. Shows how dated the rooms are.

Yelp
This is a MARRIOTT! MARRIOTT properties are known (or should be known) for quality and cleanliness. This property had minimal staffing and it's old/run-down and badly in need of renovation throughout. TONS of visible water damage throughout, especially in the room (we were on the 3rd floor). The staff, while not horrible, wasn't very responsive, either. We stayed for 4 nights total. I requested that our room be serviced by stopping at the front desk personally before leaving for the afternoon one day. When we returned, our room hadn't been serviced. When I stopped at the front desk again the following day to look into this, I was told that housekeeping was not available past 5:30pm. I explained that this information should have been told to me when I requested the service when leaving the day before and I shouldn't have to return to an unserviced room after-the-fact. This is not the MARRIOTT service that I'd come to know and expect from the past. I know Covid has impacted many businesses and industries but if you're going to provide substandard services, adjust your prices accordingly, too.

Yelp
So I booked my room in advance, all to be told it wasn't ready. I requested a room by the pool but was told I wouldn't want it. Why wouldn't I want it ?? I booked the room by the pool because I want THE ROOM BY THE POOL. So this woman at the front desk who wasn't comprehending anything I was telling her. She kept assisting I take another room. I did not budge, so I have to wait for my room. Fine, my family members also had the same issue we all booked rooms in advance for the same date. But no ones room was ready. Finally I get my room and drop my own belongings off. Me and my family was running late to a event out side the hotel, due to the inconvenience on the hotels behalf. When I return back to my room ready to shower and sleep. I notice my shower was dirty, Pube hair everywhere. I call room service to complain. And I'm told their is nothing they can do about it. NOTHING ??? I ask for another room then, with a clean bathroom. "Oh we're booked up" no way I'm showering in here. I ended up taking a shower in my sisters room which was on the 19floor. The next day I complain to the same unprofessional incomprehensible employee. She said "that's why I told you to pick another room". Wait ? Because the bathrooms are never cleaned ? WTF!! This is a hotel every room should be throughly cleaned. That included the bathroom. I ask to speak to someone higher up and I'm told no one is available. Besides the bathroom the only thing I enjoyed was the pool, and gym. Other then that I will never waste my money at this hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is so old and gross. It smells of mold and humidity. Our room was a hot mess. I think the side panels behind the night stands were installed crooked as they were tilted. The toilet was at an angle in the bathroom as if installed wrong. The ceilings were old cement while the rest of the room had tried to be upgraded. Room service was good but won't stay here again.
