Our stay was fabulous from the moment we arrived. Staff was welcoming and accommodating. Erik our bellman went ABOVE and BEYOND to make my Daughters Sweet 16 perfect. He offered suggestions I never thought about to make it special and surprised us with extras in our room. I've been to many luxury places but his hospitality far exceeded my expectations. Thank you! We would definitely stay here again!

We had a great experience during our stay. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful (many above and beyond). The resort is beautiful and clean and we happened to be here while decorated for Christmas. It was so nice! We ate at several of the resort restaurants and enjoyed the variety of choices. The view was great and room was spacious and very comfortable. We will be back for sure!

Our second stay with you! Absolutely love this hotel and the location. So relaxing! The biggest drawback… my husband is an early riser and lets me sleep in. There is absolutely no coffee at the hotel until 7 am!! That’s so late. He doesn’t use the room coffee maker because he doesn’t want to wake me up. This would be such an easy fix and so accommodating to your guests. He has inquired at the first desk 2x and they do not have access to any.

Great location. Beach access was great and so nice to have. We got a junior suite with ocean view and it did not disappoint! Spacious and the view was so nice. We were staying for a weekend and were disappointed to call and find our room service was not available- especially since there are 3 restaurants on property. Overall we would go back and use more of the amenities!

There were some issues with our room the first night that when brought the attention of the front desk they jumped into action to resolve. They sent up Erik on the bellhops who was very friendly and made sure we got moved and settled. All the staff have been over the top with their level of service and it’s very appreciated and not unnoticed. The issues could have made a bad trip, but the team here turned it around as soon as we brought it to their attention and made sure our trip went great.

The customer service was outstanding. From check-in to check-out, the staff was professional, friendly, and eager to assist especially, Jamari B. He was quick to accommodate special requests and provided helpful recommendations for local attractions. Overall, the hotel’s customer service exceeded expectations, making the stay truly enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent hospitality.

Google
A beautiful hotel right on the beach. I stayed in the Junior Suite. It had everything I wanted. I enjoyed relaxing on a couch vise the bed or chair. The only detractor for me was figuring out how to stop the bathroom light from being motion detecting. Getting up at night with a bright light is not ideal.

My girlfriend and I decided to have a peaceful getaway for a weekend. Getaway, we did. Peaceful, it was not. It would be VERY NICE if there was any sort of heads up before the $350/night weekend that the hotel is accommodating an entire gymnastics and field hockey tournament crowd. I understand that this could hurt business, as we for sure would have booked a stay elsewhere. However, it also for sure resulted in this 1 star review and a strong hesitancy to ever stay here again. My girlfriend and I have already agreed to only stay at the Hilton from here on out. We don’t want to eat out at the restaurants associated with this hotel because of all of the children running around, being rather noisy and spatially unaware. So, does it actually hurt business? Transparency is always best, and honestly, to the degree that it applies to here, should be a legal requirement…more than 10%, 20% (whatever) of rooms booked for a certain event, maybe just throw a little disclaimer on the webpage for booking the room. Also, imagine paying $350/night (this is February, summer/special event costs is $600+/night) and then trying to log in to internet. You’re met with “click here to join for $13.95 per day!” Like what?? It’s 2025. I just paid multiple hundreds of dollars to stay here for 14 hours. You want to charge me $14 a day to watch a show on my own device?? Get outta here. That’s absolutely ridiculous. You cannot call the front desk from your room phone. That doesn’t bring them money, so it’s not an option. I saw a review that said “I guess this company is hurting for money” and I thought that might be not correct, but nah he was spot on. If you want your wallet nitpicked by the hands of Marriott, you should stay here. Thanks for the one night of embarrassing yourselves, Marriott. It has resulted in a lifelong boycott.

Yelp
I stay here frequently and love this property. The recent review posted here by JE does a great job describing it and I do have to agree with the comments re: management. I'm leaving a 5-star review specifically for Charalese, Director of the Front Office, as she helped me resolve some of those issues referenced in the earlier review. Charalese is fantastic and gets things done, made me feel appreciated as a guest, and keeps me coming back.

Yelp
It is a 3 star because of their cancellation policy. 3 days is ridiculous for business travelers. I was also under the impression they have an M club and they do not. The embassy across the street is probably a better option for the price but it is owned by the same people so keep that in mind. I have stayed at the Hilton down the road and it is better than either IMO. The parking is not cheap but easy to navigate and connects to the elevator lobby is right there. I did get an oceanfront room, 2128 and it was gorgeous with a wrap around balcony. Nice bathroom and it was crazy to wake up to the view of the ocean. You do hear the jets unfortunately but that is the whole bloody Norfolk around. The breakfast was good, they had the usual items and made-to-order egg options. The waiter was very nice although I have forgotten her name, it might have been deb. The hotel is large and the bathrooms were quite nice for those who care. https://youtu.be/5ouaAiL22ck

Yelp
As having been to a Marriott or two, and what should be an upscale flagship one, it left a lot to be desired. It was understaffed at every place you'd want staff. Went to Arbuckle's one night, the place was empty, and a 30 minute wait because had only 2 servers during dinner. This is during Season when Summer guests fill the 3 hotel complex. The entire Marriott was full. Several events took place. Why wasn't this properly staffed?? Mediocre service at restaurants at best. Food was fine. Overpriced but fine. Most servers were nice, Melynda in particular, but again too few. This is a "by the book" no deviation destination. If there's no key on the computer to punch to get you something they can't do it. The concierge said "Marriott Corporate Policy" way too many times. If something's not right, and there actually nothing you can do to fix that thing, you still make it right in another way. Don't think any status level mattered to them. If there's a situation that "needs to be made right" they won't comp you even a $10 credit. Some of the staff are gruff and don't explain why you've "broken some rule" that you can't find anywhere other than they say so. No M Club. Even though they have the space that'd be an M Club. It's on the beach, which is a positive. The ice cream store was the best part of the location. Don't miss that. Relaxing, but be sure to get the Right Price on this, or use points. It's not worth a high price tag.

Yelp
Our vacation at Marriott turned into disappointment within the first 3 hours. We arrived at the hotel at 5:45pm Monday, and were met with a lengthy system outage. We waited in a long line to check in. We finally got to the counter, and filled out a form with our credit card info, room number, & phone number since the system was down. We were told we'd get a call when our room was ready. Despite assurances, we received no communication. My wife went back at 6:45pm, and was told things weren't ready. At 7pm, I went over and was then told "oh, I think we have your room key ready". This delayed our check-in significantly, and totaled a 1hr and 15 min wait. We were exhausted from the 4hr + drive. We were going to go out for dinner, but couldn't due to the wait. We finally got to our room at 7:15. The issues continued with no WiFi. Several TV channels showed "no signal". At 7:30pm, we tried ordering room service. The website that the QR code took us to wouldn't work. We went to the lobby for help. We tried asking for a wifi access code, but were told that wasn't possible due to the system outage (other guests had wifi). We went in person to Tulu at 7:45pm, the restaurant to order room service from. The host (who was very nice), got us their designated room service employee who took our order. At 9, we got a call, "Did you place a to-go order at Tulu's? It's been waiting here for awhile". I had to ask for it to be brought up, and it only arrived due to the generosity of a security staff member. Despite these challenges, I still tipped generously on top of a hefty service charge, recognizing the efforts of the staff. My wife & I hadn't gotten any time to relax. The first night was pretty much wasted with stress. Moreover, finding a large, unclean hand-print (photo attached) on a bathroom towel raised serious concerns about the cleanliness standards. This stay did not live up to Marriott's reputation, especially paying over $400 a night plus fees that staff couldn't explain. I understand mistakes happen and outages occur. However, it was just one issue after another. I feel like a fool. The only good thing about the hotel was the bed (super comfortable). Despite paying for ocean view, you couldn't hear the ocean from the balcony due to the loud HVAC system. The next day, Tuesday at 6pm, we got a call from the lobby. They asked for our payment information, which was given to them via paper form upon arrival. Staff said they shredded it because it was too much to try to enter in, and some guests' handwriting weren't legible. I put my card on file, which shouldn't have been charged for some things until checkout. Marriott Corporate told me on the same day, on Tuesday afternoon, that the general manager would be in touch "shortly". Marriott staff, on the same day, also gave me the general manager's email. I emailed him directly on Wednesday at 7am. It is now Friday at 12pm, and he just returned our email. He gave us points and was apologetic, so I'll add an extra star. On Wednesday, my wife and I were waiting at the elevator to go downstairs. There was the housekeeper, who was very nice, standing with an employee that looked like a manager. The manager said "well let's see if they (mentioned room #) take their DnD down, and we'll see what we can do". The housekeeper pointed out that we were right there, so that the manager was aware. The manager repeated herself so we could hear her. It's amazing that they act like we inconvenienced them. Look at how nice we left the room (images attached). We checked out Wednesday at 1pm, when our actual checkout was scheduled for Thursday at 11am. I will say this (What we liked): The proximity/walk to the beach was so convenient. The hotel is a gorgeous hotel. They happened to have an airshow that was phenomenal to watch. The best part was the beach and the city itself, that's it. It's truly the service that was horrific. When I reported the handprint on the towel to someone downstairs on Tuesday evening (name started with an S), she appeared appalled that I would even mention that.

Yelp
My husband and I only stayed here one night on a weekday in a king bed junior suite. The hotel itself is new, modern and so beautiful. Our room was so spacious, simple, and clean! The balcony has a view of the beach, but you have to step outside and look left to see the beach. Inside the room are 2 pairs of house slippers, 2 robes, plenty of towels, toiletries in the shower and bar of soap on sink, sofa bed with extra linens, huge comfy bed, and just have to mention again how much space there was! There was a little hallway once you enter your room which I feel like spaced us away from the outside noise since our room was right by the exit. I appreciated how the parking garage is easily accessible from the lower floor rooms. The fitness center has brand new equipment - cardio machines, leg press, leg curl, bench, free weights, cable machine. Right outside on the property are beach chairs, limited seating by fireplaces, and easy access to the beach and boardwalk. Every single staff member we encountered were friendly and helpful!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Wonderful service- love the private beach access with optional up charge in renting cabanas on the beach. A beautiful experience!

Yelp
10 out of 10 highly recommend. I wrote a much longer review on TripAdvisor but this app wouldn't let me copy and paste and I really didn't want to write the long review again, but this was one of the best Marriott's I have ever stayed on!! If you want luxury on the beach this is the place for you!

Yelp
The front desk and bell service were actually 5 star. The restaurant is the 1 star. Our waitress was very nice all good. The food took 45 minutes only to get food that was simply not good. Very underwhelming given the nature of the resort. The sandwich had dried out turkey, unripe avocado, cold over tossed bread, bacon that was cold and flimsy instead of crispy. The fries tasted like they came out of a freezer. Not crispy, cold in the center. Unappetizing. The pizza was slightly better but still not good. Not a good first day experience for lunch. Here's hoping that the rest of the stay is better.

Yelp
We stayed at this property this past weekend and really enjoyed it. The staff is literally some of the friendliest that I have ever encountered. Whatever training you are giving them - keep it up! The hotel was clean and inviting. Shout out to the housekeeping staff - you all are GREAT!! The onsite restaurant, Tulu, was surprisingly tasty with a good atmosphere and service. The attached parking garage was convenient. I would definitely stay here again. Downfall: There is a rooftop bar/restaurant, Orion's Roof, that I didn't love, but seemed to be quite popular. The hostess staff was not inviting and we were told the bar top was seat yourself, but the tables around it were seated by the hostess. The bar top was full, but there were many tables open in the bar. We put our name in for a table. After waiting about 20 minutes (even though there were only 2 of us and there were at least 5 open tables), we were finally seated at one of the many open tables to only have the bartender/server seem disappointed we only wanted drinks. There's got to be a better system here.

Yelp
Amazing stay in a very comfortable resort at the quiet end of Virginia Beach. Our company had our annual December Sales training and Holiday/Christmas party here so I got to spend Saturday through Saturday at this resort. The Christmas decor was splendid and done very classy. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the service whether in the restaurants, the maid service or front desk was great and genuinely friendly people! A standout to me was the Doorman / Concierge guy Doug. Always very helpful and personable and quick with area info and suggestions. I would highly recommend a future stay here if making plans for Virginia Beach!

Yelp
Where do I start... Vacation mode on. This hotel in my opinion is a 5 star resort! It has everything you could ever need on a family or bae-cation which includes the beach, 2 pools and more . It's giving high end and luxury throughout the facility. First when you arrive at the front of the hotel you are greeted by the door man who gives you a warm welcome. As you walk into the hotel to the left there is We scream and Starbucks , and a cute little gift shop. I love how the gift shop has cute little souvenirs and things to take back home from your vacation. In my opinion it makes your vacation experience more memorable taking a little something home. Walking into the reception desk area there's fresh fruit water and employees that are so kind and helpful to help you get checked into to your room. My favorite amenity is the indoor pool which is heated and the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool features large doors that opens up, the outdoor pool backs up to the beach. The bathrooms are clean and has led mirrors which is a plus for me . There is two lovely restaurants located in the hotel , "Orion roof top" and "Tulu". Not only is the experience and the ambience is up to par but the quality and service the staff gives. I believe the staff is what makes your vacation special and everyone that I've ran into has been super informative about local eateries and things to do such as the spa located at the Cavalier. The sea hill is so nice I enjoyed my time and definitely will be coming back next summer .

Yelp
Sunday, August 7, I and three guests had dinner at Orion's Roof. The food server introduced herself as a sommelier. The other three guests ordered white wine. I said that I needed a minute. Later, the food server came back to the area and I said I'd like to see a wine list as she walked by. She waved her hand at me and continued walking. I would have expected her to say, "I'll be with you when I can", rather than gesturing to me like someone directing traffic. She later returned to our table, and I asked to see the wine list. She seemed resistant to giving me a wine list. Later she handed me an electronic tablet and asked me what I was looking for. I replied that I just wanted to see the wine list. I found her tone throughout the entire evening very condescending. I did nothing to provoke this. I chose not to call her on this in the interest of not making my guest feel uncomfortable. I ordered a grilled prime ribeye medium rare. It was cool in the middle and no where near medium rare doneness. It was the toughest ribeye that I have ever had, and it was the saltiest stake I've ever had. She did not return to the table in a timely manner, so I chose to eat the steak rather than confront the food server/sommelier or find a manager. I didn't see our server until I had eaten half the steak. The bill came to $370.64, and I left a $75 tip in spite of the unacceptable service. I called on Wednesday to speak with a manager. I was told that no one was available to speak with me, because they were assisting other callers. Restaurants at this price point should have management presence on the floor to solve such problems. It would be in their best interest if I had a remedy other than airing my grievance on public media. I hope that this review will be welcomed as constructive criticism, and inspire improvements that will benefit others. Best wishes

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. Great location. Very clean. Spacious rooms. Accommodating staff. Fastest service request & best housekeeping so far. Year round pools, quality restaurants. One-stop hotel, you don't need to leave the hotel for anything if you choose not to. The 4-stars is for some minor out dated wall papers, bubbled up wall paint and drain clogs. Overall very satisfied.

Jordan J.

Yelp
Amazing property! I travel often and greatly appreciate that the floors are not carpet. It makes me feel much more comfortable. The rooms are modern and clean as is the rest of the hotel. Love the pool and access to the beach.

Ara A.

Yelp
Excellent location, great service, kept very clean and organized. Lots of different restaurants, shops, ice cream shop, beach club. Great place for day or evening activities.

Yelp
Best hotel in VB without a doubt! Christmas time was beautiful. The restaurants are very good. Beautiful views!

Yelp
This is hands down the cleanest oceanfront hotel I have ever experienced and it definitely feels more like a resort. There was a little confusion with our room at check in because, to be quite frank, the website is slightly deceiving. "Ocean View" is not the same as "Oceanfront" and I quickly saw that when we went into our room, BUT the front desk associate was so kind and helpful. She switched us to an oceanfront room because (and this is absolutely a first world issue, but) I want to see the ocean from my bed when I stay at the beach. I deserve an all ocean view especially at nearly $500 a night. The guest services associate even moved us up to the highest floor and the views were gorgeous. She and I enjoyed a really nice chat, too, because she noticed my guinea pig novelty bag and we began discussing our pets. :) Orion's rooftop dining in this Marriott was enjoyable with the spectacular ocean views. The service was perfectly fine and the prices were decent but I would have liked more plant based options to suit my preferences/eating style. The main level hotel restaurant had more favorable choices. If we ever return to VA Beach, we will certainly stay here again. We all especially loved the cleanliness of this hotel. :) In fact, I did a search for "cleanest VA Beach hotel" and this Marriott came up based on the many reviews. My eldest brother always stays here when he takes his family, too, so we had high hopes this hotel would exceed our expectations and it did!

Demond S.

Yelp
This is a fairly new Marriott propert. While it is new, it is clearly well known by the groves of guest checking in/out daily. What is very nice about the hotel is the onsite amenities. The roof top bar and lobby bars are great. The beach bars are fun and scenic. You are just steps away from sand and ocean. The rooms are very nice. I was upgraded to a King Corner Suite. The views were spectacular. The rooms were cleaned daily. The lobby was well maintained. The gym was a good size. It had a good variety of equipment. But this hotel is very expensive as it sits on the beach. Other than that, it can be fun for all. Will definitely visit here again.

Ken B.

Yelp
Great room, friendly staff, wonderful views. However, ... Have you heard of those unscrupulous places with all the hidden charges that you don't find out about until you get there (or maybe until you get the bill)?? Expect an additional $45 or so per day in unforeseen charges......

Nina N.

Yelp
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Ryan at the front desk, 10/10 best accommodations and customer service, the best personality in customer service that I've seen in YEARS. Hotel is beautiful, view is beautiful, beautiful amenities!

Whitney R.

Yelp
This hotel is so beautiful! I'm not a VA Beach fan but wanted a quick overnight getaway not too far from Richmond. Our room was an ocean view which was slightly funny because we were on the 10 floor. The view is mainly a portion of the roof and a weeeeee little bit of the ocean. It was all good because the room is super modern! Super cute. They have a alarm clock with a wireless charger. Plenty of outlets and USB ports for charging. The lobby is amazing. Pool area is the best part of the hotel. Infinity pool with lounge seats in the pool. There is also an indoor pool which is nice if you decide to visit in the winter. I grabbed a drink from the cavalier beach bar which was a tasty prickly pear margarita. Didn't get a chance to grab dinner at Orions but maybe next time!!

Pratiksha M.

Yelp
After staying here for the past three years, every summer. I would say this time was the worst of all times. We didn't get a room that had a good view despite booking way before the actual time. It's as if they ignore their valued customer and just give preference to their premium members. I had to call in regularly for their housekeeping service. The Starbucks opened in the hotel has a limited menu, so if you are a true Starbucks fan, don't get duped. I would still request everyone to get their food, ice cream, breakfast and coffee elsewhere.

Patrick B.

Yelp
This Is The Best All Around Marriott Resort Beachfront I've Ever stayed in ! HOSPITALITY! Galore Austin at Front Door is the Best Bellman on the staff Madeline in Tulu Restaurant Outstanding! Yelp
The value wasn't delivered as advertised and expected for Marriott. It's a nice place, but the activities, service, maintenance, and restaurant didn't deliver and lacked attention to detail. Got it, mistakes happen. But there was no one there able to fix the mistakes or make it right in any way. Overall, would only consider going back if other hotels and brands didn't work out first. Was a little surprised that parking was not included as a package option. The "breakfast included for one person" package was a little annoying since we were traveling with more than one person and there was no breakfast Buffett that the package implied there would be. Lots of things advertised inside the hotel, but not delivered on.

Yelp
Stayed here 1night 3-2-24. Had beautiful ocean front room. Exceptionally clean. Liked the wood floors. Linens very nice. The rooftop restaurant was delicious. Asian themed. Service was excellent and friendly Diane V

Yelp
Terrible front desk staff, always-warm AC, and no recognition for Bonvoy members. Booked a balcony king and was 'upgraded' to a non-balcony room. Had work changes and called down to shorten a stay and was told I'd be charged a night's fare "because that's policy", which I understand completely, but no exceptions for Bonvoy members? Just 'policy', eh? And don't get me started on the front desk. Checked in late and was assisted by a woman who whispered everything, then got angry because I'd ask her to repeat things. I tried to be nice, but it was clear this woman just wanted to be combative. Been traveling for work for 20 years and properties like this are why I maintain higher status at Hyatt and Hilton properties. For $350/night, you'd think they'd be A) friendlier, and B) more accommodating. As it is, I'll still make top tier, but not because of properties like this.

Ray C.

Yelp
Nicest Marriott I have stayed in. It was in a beautiful location. Although we were here in the winter for a business trip, it looks like a great place to visit the beach at. Nice restaurant selection and the staff was professional and accommodating.

Al S.

Yelp
Area is under renovation so a bit confusing to get to the Marriott. Don't fret coz its worth the hassle, they serve good food, good ambiance, but mist of all a good view of the Atlantic Ocean. $2/ hour on the parking and cheaper than getting towed by the Va Beachfront towing vultures.

Theresa G.

Yelp
I have stayed once and dined there 2x in the last month. Each time the service was terrible. Every employee acted as if they were out out by any simple request. The front desk said they would text us when the room was ready and at 4:30 p.m we finally came to desk. Shift change and when I mentioned we were not notified the front desk gentleman ignored my irritation. Our belongings we're sitting there and nobody watched them . We picked them up and our claim tickets were never checked. Second time we went to brunch on a weekday. We were seated in the center of the restaurant (nearly empty). We asked to move by the window and beach side, the young waitress accommodated us, but she received disparaging looks from the other waitresses when she took Our order out of her section. It was very uncomfortable! I asked one of the waitresses where the plates were for the buffet and with attitude she responded ("I guess I will have to get some") My son was with me on one trip and he was appalled by the unfriendly service, that made us feel a burden and not a guest.

Xavier V.

Yelp
Terrible service upon entry with my car. I had a staff member from the front desk telling me about the parking prices and also that the restaurant was first come first served when I wanted to make a reservation. She didn't mention anything about that I couldn't use the parking unless I had a reservation because they were busy. I drove 3.5 hours with the intention of going to their restaurant. The guy working at the gate who was not there when I came earlier to prevent people from going in the garage was really rude. I explained to him how I left a garage I paid for to go to there and the person from the front desk didn't say there was any problem for me to park there at the time. He wasn't willing to check with anyone to confirm that I spoke to someone about parking there with the intention of going to the restaurant and refused to allow me to go through even though I was told less than 30 minutes before I could go. I expect more accountability from staff and they lost my business yesterday because of it.

Yelp
Check in after 12 pm No carts Night manager does know where any are No explanation of how to use wristbands to use elevators or get into your room No water in room No ice in machine No knowledge by night manager of where to get food except to walk No room service I'm mean we are 67 and even any help would have been appreciated $600 a night for &20 a night sevice Really pitiful

Yelp
When we entered the hotel elevator area from the crowded parking garage, it was like stepping into a sauna. The hallway on the 21st floor smelled horrible, probably from the Orion restaurant on the 23rd floor. Later, we noticed that the club level was on the 19th floor. I suspect that is to avoid the awful smell on the 20th, 21st and 22nd floors. Gnats throughout the hotel added to the unpleasant vibe. As other reviews mentioned, there was very loud noise from military aircraft flying (until almost 1 a.m. on our first night). We were upgraded from partial ocean view to oceanfront, but not informed that our room was handicap accessible. Furnishings were basic with an open closet area and no luggage rack. The only chair in our King room was a single desk chair. For some reason, our bathroom had a bathtub rather than a shower. There was only one towel hook and very limited counter space around the sink. The sink outlet has a night light which would have been better for a bathroom that didn't have a barn door with a frosted glass insert. Why do hotels put barn doors that provide limited privacy on bathrooms? The automatic light in the bathroom which could not be turned off or dimmed at night was super annoying! Two beach chairs, not lounge chairs, and two towels were included. Guests must present a card to get their towels and will be charged $20 for any towel that is not returned. An umbrella was an additional $20. Wish I had opted to pay $40 for the shade cabana which includes loungers. Both days, we went across the street to the Cavalier for breakfast. The service, ambiance and food were perfection. We had lunch at Orion's Roof and that was disappointing. The chicken yakitori was plain chicken with a sauce, which was not yakitori sauce, poured on top. The best item we tried was the Korean Beef Bowl and that was mediocre. Service was slow, no one bothered to clean the five dirty empty tables while we were there. Took a long time to get our bill, and I had to go to the bar to pay after waiting over 10 minutes in the mostly empty indoor area. Apparently, the bartender/server, server and manager were far too busy chatting and discussing new cocktail ideas. If I return to Virginia Beach, I will stay at the Cavalier to enjoy exceptional service and food. Although the Cavalier is across the street from the beach, it has a beach club next to the Marriott which is much nicer than the Marriott's bar and beach area.

Yelp
Recently I stayed here for a night on a small getaway, and it was my first time at the oceanfront Virginia Beach as an adult. I wasn't sure what to expect. I had wanted to stay at The Cavalier across the street but it is very expensive, so we opted for the Marriott. The hotel is brand new, which is probably the reason it doesn't have the best rating because they were probably working out the kinks. Our stay was wonderful! We had a view of the ocean up on the 14th floor. The view felt like we were on a cruise ship! We did head down to see the pool area- it's gorgeous! It made us want to come back for the summer. The room was gorgeous, the hotel itself was gorgeous. We also were able to go have drinks at The Cavalier and charge them to our room at Marriott. My favorite part was eating at the rooftop restaurant, Orion's Grill. The view was amazing and the food was a treat. Thank you Marriott for a memorable getaway and we hope to come back soon! Besides Cavalier this looks like the classiest hotel in the area you can stay in.

Yelp
Been to Virginia Beach many times, so tried out this newer hotel. Very nice and well appointed. Staff seem eager to make it an enjoyable visit. Rooms are sizable and comfortable, especially traveling with a family. For as nice of a place it is, I would expect more from the elevators. They seem to be buggy, one was broken at times, sometimes you needed a wristband, other times not, and I can't figure out why they illogically ordered the floor buttons. I know these are minor details but, why not mention it, hoping someone that works there will read it. The outdoor grounds are very comfortable and spacious. Pool is undersized. Ice cream shop was great and reasonably priced. Orions Roof, the restaurant on the top floor is a real gem. The restaurant is very aesthetic, the view is quite remarkable and the menu is a nice change from other high-end neighbors. Food was excellent. The thing I couldn't make sense of was the conflicts with the branding. I booked the Marriott. Hotel has a giant Marriott logo on the side, but put on a floor called Cavalier preferred, that had books about the Cavalier Hotel that's across the street, scattered in my room, but again, I'm in the Marriott. On the beach side, there were areas for Marriott guests and Cavalier guests. The Marriott lobby also has lots of stuff on the walls about the Cavalier Hotel, and really markets it as highest end. Made me feel like even though I'm paying for a Marriott Resort, somehow, I'm inadequate for not being at the Cavalier. There are also private condos attached to the northern end of the Marriott that share the parking garage. Not sure how they fit in but it was a parking problem for me... As for the parking, beware if you have an oversized vehicle. (Large SUV with roof container). Ground floor garage clearance says I'd fit. One level in and the ceiling drops a foot. I could go no further, so I had to park on 1st floor which is valet only. Strangely, the front desk seemed like this never happened to them before and played some games with me, saying that to park there I would have to be upcharged and valet every day. Knowing better, I just went to security and explained the situation. They were great about it and assigned me a spot on the main garage floor by the loading dock for the week. Every time I came out to enter or leave, I always had grief from other workers or people that lived in the private condos, thinking I wasn't allowed there. Marriott needs to work this out better. It was a headache I did not deserve. Overall 3.75 stars.

Yelp
Had a pretty rotten experience here. Planned a vacay in July for September when I was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to have a way to celebrate and relax with my husband after finishing up my treatments. A few weeks after I made the reservation, I had to change dates, as my treatments lasted longer than what docs had originally thought. Normally, I wouldn't try to change dates, but cancer is kinda serious, so thought I'd try. I called Marriott, and they were able to help me change to the following week. Fast forward to two weeks before our planned date, and our sweet 7yo pup was diagnosed with a super agressive cancer. We simply couldn't make the trip with a sick/dying companion. Called Marriott, they told me to change online, it'd be fine. Thought I'd done everything correctly, but just to be sure, I called the property manager, who was super nice, and said if there were ANY issues, not to hesitate to call him directly, he would make sure things were 'made right', that he completely understood our situation, and he wanted everything to be good for us. Day of arrival: We got a notification the room was ready, so we headed to the hotel to check in. Waited at front desk for several minutes before a Dave Grohl wannabe dude, leaning back in his chair, arm waving over his head at a desk at far side of lobby and said, "Hey, Over here!". REALLY?? Anyway, we walked over to check in, handed him our printed documents, and then the guy says, "WOAH! i can't do this......" ....no explanation, he just stops talking and staring at computer. I thought his ring-clad fingers had shorted out the computer....or him! Husband walked around the desk to see what the problem was (because the dude wasn't speaking......) and then the guy says, "get away from me, man, you can't be here". WTH? He leaves the lobby, and in comes the little perky blonde who must be front manager, looks at the screen and then says "you expect me to change a reservation that YOU reserved incorrectly?" And then chuckled. I asked to speak with Mr Donnelly, and was repeatedly told he wasn't on property. I requested a return call from Mr Donnelly (after all, he DID say to not hesitate to call him direct if there were ANY problems...) Well, after three nights in VaBeach, now a week later, crickets. We are SUPER Marriott fans, but this has been the most stressful vacay experience EVER! Such unprofessionalism, slackness, and uncaring attitudes in the hospitality industry! Yes, I made some mistakes, but I was sick and we had gone through an unprecedented summer between my Illness and our dog's death. Oh, and our stay was when Hurricane Ian remnants were moving thru Va Beach, so weather sucked and the hotel was quite empty. The rude brashness with which we were treated was simply uncalled for, and is simply not to the standards we are used to receiving at Marriott. Will certainly think twice before booking at a Marriott ever again. At least this one. ....but if you're in VaBeach, DEFINITELY go to Orion's Roof. Great service, great food, great view! And the hummus at Tulu is simply delicious!

Yelp
So disappointed with how I was treated at this hotel after spending over $550 a night. My partner was bitten by bedbugs, I will leave photos down below. After reaching out multiple times and emailing I've been ignored hung up on and treated as if I was a piece of trash, I've stayed at this hotel before and loved it so much that I couldn't wait to go back. I'm so sad with what has happened with this situation and I'm not sure what to do to be able to get some sort of compensation for us being bitten while we were sleeping there. I hope if this happens again they handle it with grace and respect because I received none of that. So disgusted with the management here

Yelp
This hotel is brand new and gorgeous. I don't know about you but part of why I love staying at hotels is the elegance and glamour of being in a professionally designed space that takes you away from the ordinary. The Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront is breathtaking. Soaring ceilings, artsy photography and sculptures of swimmers, and suspended birds that project shadows of flight all set the tone and create a nice beach dreamscape. We were greeted by the valet, Douglas, who helped to orient us and unload the car and get our room all set up with ice. He did a great job. That night, we enjoyed the pool- it's awesome because they have an indoor and outdoor pool- and I saw them measuring the pool chemical levels and temp and posting it regularly each day. We went to the pools 3 times in 3 days. The pool team, including Angelina, did a great job of sanitizing lounge chairs, sprucing it up, and using a squeegee to get rid of extra water. That said some families spread out too much with their pool gear but that's not on the staff. Everyone, guests and staff, were kind and respectful though. We also ate at TuLu several times. The ambiance is gorgeous (Miami beach vibes) and the food is healthy and tasty. All in all, the Marriott is an epic getaway! Check it out. When you stay at the Marriott they let you use 2 beach chairs, which are already set up for social distancing. It feels very luxe to not have to haul your own chairs around too.

Yelp
Really an amazing stay for our babymoon! It was just starting to get warm the week we were there so, we got to take advantage of the beautiful outside amenities. The room was very clean and beautiful. We loved the look of the hotel and friendly staff. We loved the connivence of the restaurants. However, they weren't amazing but they did the job.

Yelp
I've stayed here numerous times, and I try to book this hotel when I'm on business in the Hampton Roads/ VB area, mainly for the rooftop restaurant and bar which is called Orion's. Hotel is pretty nice, modern, clean but a bit expensive in the summer. That being said, the restaurant up top is superb (despite the surly bartenders), but I'm willing to overlook that for some delicious food and spectacular views. Just came back from another trip, had some delicious rockfish, sushi platters, halibut and a selection of cocktails at our table overlooking the beautiful shoreline. You will often catch dolphin playing in the water down below and if you can get a table along the windows at sunset, it really is spectacular. Only downside to my recent trip is that I paid the full rack rate which was over 500 a night and got a room overlooking the noisy HVAC system, so we couldn't really enjoy the balcony as we normally like to. I may go back to the Cavalier next time, which is also now owned by Marriott and has a really nice beachfront club which can only be accessed by members of the club and guests of the Cavalier. (Which feels a bit odd if you're staying at the Marriott which is right there and can't get in) The Cavalier does have a nice selection of restaurants, including the Hunt club where you can get a nice cocktail and some snacks in an English style pub setting. An easy walk across the street!

Yelp
BUGS EVERYWHERE IN OUR ENTIRE HOTEL ROOM will start out by saying- I NEVER write bad reviews but this was by far the worst experience I have EVER had. We checked in went up to our room and there were BUGS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! ALL OVER THE CEILING IN THE SHEETS ON THE PHONE. At least 200 Knat like bugs or larger flying bugs. I WAS NOT THE ONLY ROOM WITH BUGS AS I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE CALLING. Apparently this is common and not taken seriously. I went down to the front desk feeling so anxious and I was informed that they would have someone vacuum the bugs out of the room. And it's Virginia Beach we have bugs here????? On a certain side of the hotel facing the higher streets. They told me they didn't have any other rooms and that I could go to a different hotel down in a sketchy part of town. They were at full capacity and had a wedding there and they couldn't switch my room. I felt trapped and stuck and completely upset with my two year old daughter with me. I went back to the 22nd floor to grab my belongings- and then the lady said they magically found a room- on the 12th floor. So we carry everything to the 12th floor back up on the elevator it's 1:30am at this point. The twelve floor room has no view- totally different shower set up and the kicker! The balcony door is BROKEN!!!! really safe for my two year old who can open slider doors. I felt sick. The whole experience made me want to throw up. I wasn't ever asked if I needed to sit down- and take a second at the front desk. Even was not going to get a refund until the morning hours maybe because the front desk manager wasn't there. What a wonderful birthday weekend. It's almost three am. And I would never wish this on anyone.

Yelp
I've been to this Marriott before for drinks or dinner but this was my first time staying there. The hotel is well designed and really plays to a beach oasis atmosphere. Who wouldn't love a view of the ocean?! The restaurants are fun to visit and have great drinks and food. The rooms are spacious enough and the beds are quite comfortable. But I had to take away two stars because the front desk staff ruined our experience. They were extremely rude and set a negative tone for our trip from the start. I hope that this is improved upon so that others do not have the same experience as we did.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this is what Marriott hotels represent!. They have a lot of very nice decor around the hotel, nice restaurant in the lobby called Tulu as well as a upper floor restaurant called Orion's roof, both have good food with Tulu having access to the pools and beach, and Orion's roof with the breathtaking views up top. I would definitely recommend this establishment if you're in the Virginia Beach area. The reason I left out one star is because the first night we arrived they were out of wash cloths, the concierge told us the company they get their linen from didn't have any wash cloths available so needless to say we had to bathe with hand towels ( which was a great inconvenience, imagining washing up and lathering with a small towel.. not very good) ! Second one of the TVs weren't working, third one of the outlets was missing a fuse ( this came from the maintenance women who came to fix the tv,she also said they were at full capacity but if one room came available she would bring one up. You do know she never returned with a replacement fuse so we were short one outlet )! And we all know how we need our devices charged so it's very important to have full access to power, last but not least the toilet seat was broke or didn't fit ( photo located below) a sliding toilet seat isn't the most comfortable thing to sit on! But I will say I plan on returning again and hopefully those issues won't happen again!.

Yelp
THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL IN VIRGINIA BEACH!!!!!!!!! Do NOT be blinded by the glitz and glamour before your eyes when you walk into the lobby. It is there by design, so that they can secretly charge your account for items and drinks that you DID NOT order. The front desk service is an absolute JOKE! Good luck on being able to speak to someone at the desk while you are in your room. The only sound that you will hear is the endless ringing on the other end of the phone. I 100% regret staying at this hotel. I have traveled to many places and this place by far takes the win on being the worst hotel in my life experience. TULU: RUN! Run for the hills! This restaurant is a rip off! They charge for every cup of coffee and they added drinks that we did not order to our bill. When I confronted the manager regarding the issue, the server rudely interrupted our conversation and accused me of lying. We got three rooms when we were told they would be oceanfront rooms, but we were wrong! They lied AGAIN! Our $800 room per person was over looking the air condition units and concrete slabs. Our AC unit did not even work! It smelled like backed up sewage that had not be drained in weeks. GROSS... I wished someone had warned us that is why I am warning YOU! Two strangers came up to us in the lobby and warned us to check the bill for "hidden fees." They said these guys are "crooked." Some how a homeless man was hanging out in the stairwell while sitting on the floor with his black backpack with questionable items inside. I certainly question The Marriott's security. It just goes to show that they are after your money and could care less about your experience. My siblings hated this place more than me and that is rare.

Yelp
We stayed at the Fairfield Inn owned by Marriott. Our room was ocean front. A really nice breakfast was included and it was a very well maintained hotel. Super clean and the hospitality was wonderful. The front desk people were very friendly . We enjoyed our stay and would visit again. We were very satisfied.

Yelp
Loud music plays from breakfast 7 until midnight, both indoors and outside on the patio, pool area...everywhere but the parking lot basically. We could hear it on our 21st floor balcony. For a pricey resort (note: a $150 resort fee is added to your bill), they seem to be targeting 20 something's that can't afford their prices here. Breakfast are $20 and up, with the promised breakfast bar not being set up half the time, and no explanation as to why. I tripped twice on the 5" tall door threshold between the balcony and the room. A "watch your step" warning would have been nice. EXTREMELY loud military aircrafts fly over every couple of hours too. The loud music doesn't begin to cover the noise. I paid top dollar prices and found myself constantly irritated by this place.

Yelp
Very swanky, brand new resort on the quiet end of VA Beach. Location This property is located on the North End of VA Beach bordering a residential area. Much quieter and less crowded than hotels near the Boardwalk, but it's a 5 minute walk to access the Boardwalk if that's your thing. We liked not having to fight the crowds for beach space! Room We stayed over July 4th weekend in a King room with an ocean view that was absolutely breathtaking. The balcony was a great spot for a glass of wine while you watched the sunset. As expected for a new hotel, it was sparkling clean (I have a phobia about musty smells). Kind of a strange duvet cover that kept coming off but the bed was very comfy! Service As we were staying during the COVID-19 pandemic, the room was not serviced during our 3 night stay (kind of a bummer after the 2nd night when it really could use a refresh). They were generous with toiletries and towels, though. Check-in was efficient, though the front desk staff was not wearing their masks over their noses (only their mouths) which was a bit disconcerting. However, they had a lot of signs encouraging social distancing, one party to an elevator, and mask wearing in all public spaces. About 90% of the guest complied, which was nice to see. Amenities We didn't use either the indoor or outdoor pool, but we did wander down to the private beach and used the complimentary beach chairs (2 per room). You could also rent loungers and umbrellas. All the chairs were set up early in the morning to ensure social distancing. Pro tip: get to the beach early to get a spot. By 11 a.m. all the chairs were occupied. Parking was $20 a night with in/out privileges, which is a steal for VA Beach. Restaurant I would assume due to social distancing, the restaurant had a long line to enter so we didn't visit. However, there are restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. Would definitely stay at this property again!

Yelp
The hotel is beautiful. I hate to complain but I'm disappointed with their room service. We requested room service to bring breakfast at 9:00 AM. It is now 10:24 AM and no food. Check out time is 12. I had to call the front desk at 10 AM to check on the status. Staff said they were running behind and that the crew just left to bring food to rooms. However, that was almost 30 min ago. It's now 1.5 hrs from the time we have requested food to arrive. I'm so disappointed with this place. We finally received our breakfast at 10:30 AM, and our food gets delivered in to-go boxes and forgot my coffee. They charged us delivery fee AND gratuity?!!! What kind of room service experience is this? I understand that some services can be delayed but a courtesy call to inform us of the delay so that at least it would give us a chance to make the choice of cancelling the order and just walk down to the restaurant and order food there instead or go somewhere else for breakfast. Update: I spoke with the front desk about the absurd room service bill and our experience. Jessica was very helpful and was so easy to speak with. They credited my breakfast back. There is one more issue I'm dealing with and having it resolved because I need clarification as to why my one night stay is costing me almost $700 when I initially reserved the room in advance to lock in the low rate. Unfortunately, my fiancé was called for orders and had to reschedule our stay. The Marriott representative , Danae, was able to make the modification. However, without my approval, she booked the day I said we would be available and she immediately charges my card without discussing the price differential which made me very upset. Why on earth would I want to reschedule a day that would require an additional $250 as a differential when the main reason was to take advantage of the low rate price I had it reserved for. The lack of communication is appalling. When I reached out to Danae and expressed my concern of the price differential, she had informed me that she would make the accommodation and allow me to select a date that is closer to the price when I first reserved the room. I found one that was close with a $58 differential. We both agreed and the date was set. However, upon check out, the bill just didn't add up to me. A price I didn't recognize. As I was leaving the hotel, I asked my fiancé to drop me off at the front again because I really needed some clarification. Once again, Jess was very helpful and so pleasant to speak with. I explained the price differential but she stated that taxes were added to the reservation. What concerns me is that if it was only a $58 differential and have paid the tax portion when I first made the reservation, why am I paying an additional tax if it's just a date change? So, from $58 differential, you mean to tell me that there was an additional tax charge making it over 100%? Just didn't make any sense. She stated that she would go over it with Danae and have this resolved. Jess was absolutely great and helpful. I'm just waiting on Danae. All communication was through email regarding the reservation and price differential. I'm ready to present them if needed. I'm just really disappointed of the whole process from the very beginning. As of right now, my decision to never stay here again. I hope they make it right to change my opinion about this establishment.

Yelp
Had a great time for my husbands 30th birthday. Aaron did such a great job, so funny and kind.

Yelp
This resort was absolutely beautiful! Staying at a resort is so convenient because all essentials needed are in the same building. We arrived during check-in and it was as expected, busy. We did reserve a king bed room, receiving a double, calling front desk, twice, they did move us our requested room within about 30 minutes after calling. With reservations, you do receive 2 beach chairs, with the option to rent an umbrella for an additional fee. After check-in, going through having to change rooms, eating lunch at the onsite restaurant, we finally had the opportunity to go to the beach only to find out they were cleaning up and storing the chairs and umbrellas for the evening. UGH! That was annoying. Plan B, move to the pool area and enjoy the bar by the pool. Because time was winding down, the pool was quieting down, which allowed us opportunity to relax uninterrupted. Calling ahead, we were able to make last minute reservations at Orion's, the rooftop restaurant. It was beautiful. Needless to say, we're already playing with dates to return. I appreciate our stay.
